Ialo blinked. Demons really were some nasty people. "I see, so your entertainment comes from her torture. What are you going to do now? She's gone. Are you going to go back to Hell?" He snorted slightly. "Stick around and see how much you get away with under my roof?"

Arzol grinned, shrugging his somehow elegant shoulders. "There is still work to be done here, in the Top World, when there is still a chance that her spirit can be redeemed. I value my immortal life, you see, and don't wish to have it ruined because of the whims of a few demi-Gods." He said, rolling his eyes.

"You and me both," Ialo muttered grimly. He hoped Arzol hadn't heard that. He looked at the demon for a moment - definitely not the monstrous, trashy type - and scowled. "You're not to do anything else to Danni, do you understand? I don't care what your boss wants, if you do anything to hurt her, or anyone else on this campus, you will be banished so far away, not even Satan will be able to find you."

"Ah, don't ya know, Headmaster? It's not my job to hurt her anymore. The Boss wants that for himself. Personally wouldn't wish that on anyone, but that's out of my hands. I'm just supposed to keep her in my sights, make sure she doesn't make a break for it...Which she did, kind of." He shrugged again, brushing a stray strand of hair behind his ear.
"Those last few days, though, ya gotta know, even a Hell sentenced demon wouldn't have had it in them to lay a hand on her. Think about it, man. She committed suicide, the ultimate sin. She had to know her soul would end up straight in hell, go straight to the Boss. She was just beyond caring, beyond thinking...Taking her down then, when she could barely function...Not even I kick sick vulnerable puppies, not like that. Didn't you see her? Didn't you see the look in her eyes? Even if I didn't think she'd go the suicide route, even I could see she was falling apart at the seams...So why didn't you guys?" He asked, narrowing his eyes.

In about half an hour, Lin would turn around, perhaps shriek, or maybe just raise an eyebrow - Maggie was right behind her, nay on TOP of her, since she was in fairy form and therefore six inches tall, tops, and debating between sitting on Lin' head, or on her shoulder. Or maybe the elf would sense her first, a mile away.
Maggie, Maggie, Maggie... for being so bright and colorful a character, people seemed to forget about her. And then she would appear, her green hair done up and teased into outlandish J-pop styles, her clothes heavily accessorized with bangles and sequins and coins and chimes and any other shiny metallic object that would create a ringing melody that would echo in people's ear long after she had left the vicinity, and people's memories would come positively rushing back, and they'd either smile - or groan, and try to shoo her away.
"Liiiin. Liiiiiiiiiin. Lin. Hey, Lin. Hey. Hey Psssst, Lin!" Maggie began to pester the girl. "Why ya lookin' up all this stuff? Extra credit for the old snake?"

Lin had been so absorbed in reading and she was becoming so drained that she hadn't sensed Maggie coming up behind her. Normally she would have, but not now, not today.
When Maggie spoke into Lin's ear, Lin didn't jump or even flinch in surprise. It was almost as if she was too tired to even react. She simply sighed and rested her head in her hand.
"Hello Maggie. No, this is not extra work. You know me. I like researching different subjects on my own. Always questioning, always learning."

"In a smelly ol' library!" Maggie retorted disgustedly. "Geez, did something DIE in one of these books?" She had no qualms about raising her voice, since the librarian was no where to be found and there were no other students this morning in the library. "Look girl, what's the copyright date on that thing? 30 B.C? And that one is old enough to be the Headmaster's great-grandpa! It would explain where the one up his a** came from..."
Every motion Maggie made was accompanied, even magnified by the racket her jewelery was making. The brighter, the noisier, the better. Her wings made a sharp buzzing noise as they flitted briefly. Fairy wings didn't make the slow graceful flaps like angels could get. It seemed that today, this girl had all the energy Lin lacked. "Lin, you know what? You need a boost!"

Lin turned her head and looked at the small fairy form of Maggie as she spoke energetically. Instead of getting aggravated at her enthusiasm and energy, Lin smiled and laughed softly.
"I agree, Maggie. I really do."

((Ok, seeing as Boom is NOT posting anytime soon, and Lizz feels that we need to keep this story moving, she has authorized me to time skip to about 10:00 pm the same day inside the story. This shouldn't hurt anyone terribly: Laura, lin will still be exhausted as you had originally planned for her; mitsuki, Lia will most likely be fretting over how in the world she can possibly finish her paper still; and Boom.... well you had your chance. End of story.
On to the RP!))
Alec sat back in his chair in his classroom. If it was even possible, he was even more stressed than he was during the rescue for Ialo earlier in the week. Alec had had a rather long day. First it was that tiff with Lia, which he hoped she was starting to realize some things about herself by now. Then there was the fiasco with Alex, which Alec hoped would finish with somewhat of a happy ending. All in all Alec was feeling the strain, so he decided to clear his head by taking a walk. But seeing as it was so dark out Alec decided to stay within the school halls where it was warmer and better lit. Alec strolled casually, allowing his head to clear and not think about anything at the moment. I need a vacation, Alec thought to himself as he began to walk down the corridor outside his classroom. The halls were long and quiet, the perfect runway to clear a busy mind.

In her dorm room, Athena was pouting like a little child upon her bed. She hadn't gotten to talk to Ialo today; she'd been too busy and every time she actually remembered, there had been something else that was just distracting enough to make her stop and procrastinate--something that she truly couldn't afford. Not with this, anyway.
She huffed slightly, then wondered if the Headmaster was in bed yet. If he wasn't... well, she wasn't objecting to making a late-night visit. Especially since it was probably the only way she'd be able to actually get any sleep.
So, glancing about conspicuously, Athena tiptoed out of her dorm room and into the main hallway. She gave no thought to the fact that she was in pajamas or that Adolf was likely wandering the halls himself. He was prone to doing things like that, especially so close to the full moon--which, she reminded herself, is tomorrow. The power... she could feel it, herself, and could only imagine how it would be affecting her godfather. She held no wonder at his restlessness.
--
As Athena suspected, Adolf was out in the hallways, simply walking about. He was no longer wearing his travelling suit--he'd discarded it for a different suit. This one was white, with red accents that complemented the markings on his face. A handkerchief in his pocket, the laces of his shoes, lines down the side of his pants--it wasn't necessarily subtle, but it wasn't in any of those absurd patterns that he had seen over the centuries. It was truly quite plain--and, he'd discovered, he preferred it that way.

At 10 that night, Lia was only on number ten, after several hours of delving back and forcing out memories she'd had under lock and key.
With a sigh, Lia tapped her pencil on the table and closed her eyes again. Teh memories weren't as easy to come by now, since she'd gotten past the point where she'd been shunned, so Lia hadn't seen as much of her then.
But she remembered one night, one dark, stormy night, when she had snuck into the security control room of the house, she'd seen Danni, seven years old, wincing at the lightning even as she wiggled through the small window in her basement bedroom that would lead outside.
Curious, Lia had donned a rain slicker, had followed, and, she mused, been intent on getting her little sister in some serious trouble. She'd gone out the front door, rounding the house to where Danni's window was, and saw her just outside of it, beckoning to a cat by a tree. Thunder rolled, and Lia saw Danni bite her lip.
Eventually the cat came, a black cat, of course. It leaped into Danni's arms, and in short order she back through her window, as though nothing had happened. Lia, disappointed that she hadn't been sneaking out again, had stalked back in the house.
She used that memory now to write ten and eleven. 'She put aside her fears to help others', and 'She helped those who couldn't help themselves, the very innocent, the very young, and the very old.'

((Hope you don't mind Mitsuki, I'm skipping this scene ahead to keep up with the timeskip))
"Because," Ialo fired off automatically, even though he didn't have an answer. "Because..." He was disgusted with himself. He couldn't come with an answer when he really needed it - the truth was, he had let himself become caught up in all sorts of other things that he had considered more important than the school. But the school... ultimately, that's where everything was for Ialo. It frightened him, and it gave him purpose.
He bristled, becoming defensive. "Nobody expected her to suicide. She wouldn't have, if it weren't for you and your partners contributing to her misery." Ialo stood up, and glared at the demon. "Leave. I'm done talking to you today." Already, he was envisioning slapping a nice red expulsion notice in Arzol's folder.
But that was hours ago. The day passed by rather uneventfully... the most momentous thing that had happened all day was that he had fallen asleep in the middle of the afternoon and was therefore now, and just after 10 at night, quite well awake. So, he set to roaming the hallways. It was always a nice thing to do, because there was always someone else doing the same thing. You were never alone in the hallways of MFHS.

If only Alec had known the irony of Ialo's thoughts, for just as he was rounding the corner from the classrooms that lead to the offices he spotted Ialo meandering around the hallways as well. Alec decided that talking to Ialo would help to keep his mind off things, and if it didn't he'd at least have someone to talk to about it rather than stewing in his own thoughts. Alec walked over to Ialo and waved at him, signaling him to come closer. "Evening Headmaster. Can't sleep either?"

"I agree, Maggie. I really do." "Aha!" Maggie exclaimed gleefully. "You admit it! Then I know just the thing for you! You're always helping people with that fancy elf magic of yours, so why don't I return the favor? Nature spirit to nature spirit, eh? I know a little fairy spell that should keep you ticking for a few more hours... but after that chica, you really should go to sleep... you look awful!"

"I want to, don't feel like it," Ial replied rather somberly for the quiet elation at discovering his company for the next few minutes - it was the 'new guy'. "I did thank you for yesterday, didn't I? I know burning office buildings aren't the choicest environments..."
Oh, great. Ten seconds in, and he was floundering.
