murakami gennosukeGenin || Nickname || Kirigakure no Sato"I everyone isn't smiling then there will always be war"____________________ Gennosuke was completely unaware of the attack about to take place. He was caught completely off guard and the pain made his face simply fall into the open book below. Before he could get up and react Harumi, the librarian, was already handling the problem. Little did she know it wasn't over yet. Gennosuke was livid at the act. What Shinzu had done was completely unforgivable. Without a second word Gennosuke closed the book and walked past Shinzu and out the door with a very stern look upon his face.

(All checks DC=12 to learn more about the shinobi world and work towards increasing my intelligence stat.) (SUCCESS!)
Akemi rolled into the library early on in the morning. He hated mornings. The intoxicating stench of fresh fish from the market lingered in his gills though, acting like an energy drink for the young bull. Akemi instantly sought out the section on ninja arts, because that was going to be the goal of todays study session.
"If I can't get into the academy yet, then I may as well teach myself so that I can be ahead of the game when I get there."
Akemi selected his first book of the day, titled "Ninja Arts: The Basics that every you genin needs to know." It was a thick green textbook that brought a yawn to Akemi from its mere appearance, but he carried it over to a table and sat down with it.
"This world is widely inhabited by beings called shinobi. I myself was a shinobi back in the day and I'm writing this book for the education of the next generation. BLAH BLAH BLAH BORING!" Akemi flipped passed the introduction.
"Ninja are classified into many ranks, they are genin, chunin, jonin, and S-rank. Contrary to most peoples beliefs, academy students and kages are not their own specific ranks, rather positions in shinobi society. The same is true about Anbu, Oinin, and Special Jonin, these are jobs within ninja society, not ranks. Let us analyze these ninja ranks inn further depth, starting at the top.
S-Rank ninja are ninja that have surpassed jonin rank. They are the most elite ninja and usually an encounter with one merits a turn and run tactic."
((I'll stop here and go to another post.))

(Failed by 7) Akemi noted to himself that he should turn and run if he encountered an S rank ninja, but continued reading.
"A list of powerful ninja can be found in the bingo book.
Jonin: Jonin village make up the majority of ninja in a village because they cover so many diverse jobs. Jonin are the teachers, guards, interrogators, trackers, and many many other things. Some Jonin are experts in a certain field, these are called special jonin. Others are skilled in hunting, tracking, and body dispatchers, and are called Oinin or Hunter nin. Finally the most elite category are special operations managers skilled in completing random jobs known as ANBU. Jonin will always be a pentacle part of ninja society.
Chunin: Chunin ninja are ninja that have passed the chunin exams by defeated ninja from other villages after studying for many years on end. At the chunin stage shinobi are given much more responsibility than they were as genin, sometimes taking on B or even A ranked missions.
There are some chunin ranked ANBU, but it is a rarity.
Genin: Genin are the most junior rank of actual ninja. These are ninja that have graduated the academy and are training under an actual jonin in order to learn jutsu and combat finesse.
On a sid note I will touch on both Kages and academy students briefly. Academy students are civilians training to become shinobi. There is a shinobi academy in every major village as well as many of the minor ones. Academy students are usually children in their early teens.
Kages: The most powerful shinobi in any village is the village kage. Kages act as village leaders and protectors. Each Kage has a custom name that corresponds to their village. (Hokage, Tsuchikage, Mizukage, Raikage, Kazekage.)

Akemi skipped forward to the section about jutsu, int order to make sure that he got it right he verified the information with the librarian. (15) Akemi approached the librarian and asked the lazy looking jonin, "Hey, do you mind if I bounce this stuff off you meatsack? I need to make sure I understand it all."
The jonin sighed, "Yeah, whatever."
Akemi smiled smugly and eerily at the man. "Okay! So you have three main categories of Jutsu, the biggest one is Ninjutsu. Ninjutsu is like a big magical explosion of a certain element used to torture and mutilate your victims. You can use many different methods to mutilate people too."
"Eh, yeah. What are some of the different types of ninjutsu kid." The Jonin was starting to sweat a bit at the kids weird terminology.
(11) "Uhhhh, different types yeah. There is uh, bloodrocution type jutsu that um uses blood to electrocute your enemy until they explode into a bloody mess. There is also uhhmm Stabby-rip-stab-stab Jutsus where you use a sword to carve up your enemy like a tiny little fishy fish and see how long he takes to bleed to death after you remove his skin. Then you have ..."
"You are so far from right it astounds me. Alright kid its like this, your a shark man in the village hidden in the mist, meaning that you will be training in Suiton. What is Suiton?"
Akemi's eyes widened as the information finally came back to him. "Awwww yeah! There is Raiton, Suiton, Doton, Katon, and Futon. How could I forget those."
"Yeah, but I asked about Suiton kid. What is it? Why is it the best?"
(15) "Suiton is water based Jutsu that one can use to drown their opponent, change the battlefield conditions, increase their own muscle mass, or draw the water out of the enemies body in order to dry out the corpse and make it perfectly preserved."
"And Katon?"
"Katon is fire based jutsu used to incinerate the opponent while you listen to their screams of pain. It also has practical uses, like starting camp fires, or cooking food."
"Doton?"
"Doton turns the earth against your opponent to burry them alive whilst they suffocate beneath the earth. You can also use it to cause mudslide that will send your opponent cascading down mountains only to be impaled by large spiked stones that you created at the bottom, then while you have them skewered you cause an avalanche to crush their body beneath five tons of solid rock."
(2) "Okay, and what of Futon?"
"You use the wind to mess up your opponents hair. Its ******** boring, so who cares."
"Futon can act like blades and cut you wide open, nothing is scarier than an invisible attack cutting you open."
"Yeah, I guess thats kind of cool."
"And what about Raiton, what do you know about that?"
"You can electrocute people with it, and it doesn't go well with water."
"I think you need to look up a bit more about those last two kid."

| 10 | Akemi returned to the books and read up on Futon. "The wind release techniques are offensive-type techniques that allow the user to manipulate wind by shaping their chakra to be as sharp and as thin as possible, very much like the blades of a pair of scissors. The ranged techniques work by the user causing movement in the air. This can be done via blowing the air from ones mouth, or even just from the burst of air made from clapping ones hands. Futon is the rarest of the five basic elemental chakra natures, wind release techniques are suited for short-to-mid-range combat. Wind is naturally strong against lightning techniques, and likewise Futo is naturally weak against fire techniques, but Futon combines well with other types of jutsu. Futon ...." Akemi laid his head down and fell asleep.
| 17 | When Akemi woke up the Librarian was staring at him with a sucker in his mouth. "You don't seem to like reading kid."
"Not really. Its hard to learn things by just reading it over and over."
"What do you know about Futon now?"
"Its still boring. It seems useless without another element."
"Fair enough, but tell me something, have you studied Raiton yet?"
"No."
"How about I read it to you, then teach you in my own words afterwards."
"Sounds good to me."
The librarian grabbed Akemi's book and flipped back a few pages. "Raiton are techniques that allow the user to generate lightning by increasing the high frequency vibrations of their chakra, allowing for piercing damage and fast movement.
Did you get that kid? Raiton can make you faster, not just electrocute people. All jutsu have supplementary uses.
The electricity paralyzes the target so that they are unable to move and leave them vulnerable to a finishing strike.
Thats important too, being a water user and all.
While uncommon, lightning can be infused into bladed weapons in a way similar to wind release through chakra flow for increased sharpness through vibrations, with the added effect of inducing numbness.
Meaning that some shinobi can have weapons even if you can't see them.
When the jutsu is released from their bodies, and thus not requiring physical contact, it does not move as fast as true lightning. Instead, due to the control the user has to exert over it, it moves far slower, which can give opponents time to still react.
Use that knowledge to your advantage.
Common to the ninja of Kumogakure, a lightning jutsu is naturally strong against an earth jutsu, and weak against wind. Lightning also has a unique relation with water since it will conduct it. This means that it can be used to increase the damage of a water release technique. Though this also means that if one's opponent still has a physical connection with the water, either a pre-existing source or one created with their own chakra, then they can be paralyzed via their own jutsu.
This is what I was warning you about, Raiton can seriously mess you up.
Based on the exhaustion of using lightning release techniques, it can be presumed that they require more chakra than the other nature transformations.
And another thing to note, higher chakra amount is dangerous for you."
| 20 | -Woot-
"Now, what about the two other main categories?"
"Well there is Taijutsu, which is pounding peoples brains in with your fist. Its not to be confused with Kenjutsu, which is cutting them into pieces with your sword, or other carving tool, such as a butter knife or scalpel. Kenjutsu is the primary combat style of the land of iron as well as the seven swordsmen of the Mist!" Akemi was a glow, "I can't wait to become skilled enough to be one of them. I'll wander the world, killing all who stand in my path. BOW, SWOOSH, CHIANG-POW! Dead." He began hopping about with an imaginary sword. "I'm going to be such a badass when I get my Samehada ya know! ******** stealing chakra and growing more and more powerful with each opponent that I kill."
"Alright. Alright. Calm down kid. What about the last category?"
| 13 |
Akemi looked a bit confused. "I uh didn't really get it. I mean I know that its called Genjutsu, and that it creates illusions and allows mind control, but it all just seems weird. Like I get what it is, and it sounds cool, but I don't understand how it works."
"Genjutsu takes control of the victims chakra flow, and through their chakra flow it controls the five senses. Its actually pretty cool. Now do you know the three most common ways out of a genjutsu?"
"I would assume that you would just have to disrupt your chakra flow."
"And how do we do that?" The librarian took on a devilish grin. "At least one way should be obvious." Akemi thought of it for a moment before saying, "I have absolutely no idea."
| 2 | The librarian sat down in his chair and said, "Fair enough then. Lets have a little talk. The three main ways to break a shinobis chakra flow. First off you have the obvious one of realizing that its an illusion. No genjutsu is perfect, and thus they have a few noticeable flaws. If and when you notice these flaws, the jutsu will be broken. The second method is by human contact, or any contact really. By touching somebody you can disrupt their chakra flow and snap them out of the illusion world. This method really only works on lower level genjutsu though, so I wouldn't rely on it in the slightest. Lastly you have the method that I think you will find ..."
*Snnnnnnnoooooooooorrrrrrrrreeeeeeee*
The Jonin peaked back over his desk to see Akemi slumped over on the ground with his butt in the air and gnawing on the wooden floor. His legs kicked out a few times as he apparently had a dream about running.
The Jonin removed a kunai from his belt and threw it in front of Akemi. The loud noise of the heavy metal dagger sinking into the wood snapped Akemi out of his rest as he snapped into action and drew his kusarigama from his belt, looking around for a moment before gathering his bearings. "Ummm, sorry?" Akemi re-wrapped the chain on the kusarigama and replaced it at his side before removing the kunai from the floor and handing it back to the librarian.

DC = 14 -- 3 successes.
Akemi continued to study diligently, now switching his focus to learning more about his clan and the samehada. He began to drift away into a fantasy world where he was the worlds most elite ninja, but quickly woke up and continued his studies. "So the samehada is a scaled weapon that has increased cutting power and absorbs chakra ... it can grow larger with the amount of chakra it absorbs ... it can feed its chakra into its user ... and it can bend." He continued to read and finally came to the grand conclusion that would be obvious to most, but given that Akemi was not the brightest bulb on the christmas tree when it came to common sense. So as he closed the book he came to the same conclusion that also happened to be rather akin to the books title, "So, the Samehada is a living sword." Then reading the title he began to see his own ignorance. "Samehada: Living sword of the Hoshigaki clan."
He continued to read about things that related to himself, like the origins of the Kusaraigama. "The Kusarigama was derive from the farmers scythe, but during the feudal era people began to use the Kusarigama almost exclusively as a weapon. Thats cool. I wonder why these have spiked balls and mine just has a weight." After a bit of thinking he said, "Its probably better at goring things up a little bit, but I don't think it has the same weight. Maybe I'll ask the librarian." A hand suddenly landed on Akemi's shoulder as a voice said, "The weighted one carries itself further if you throw it and hits harder, but you were right about the spiked one. With any luck the spikes will hold and you can tear them out to cause a little more damage. Do you get it?"
"Yeah, so its an offense versus speed thing. Or gore versus broken bones. I like. The weighted one will probably slow them down, but broken bones take a serious tole rather quickly, but the spiked ball would take a lot longer to alter the battlefield." The librarian nodded and asked, "So how long do you plan on spending here, because I plan on closing up in an hour." Akemi looked up at the clock and said, "Well I still have a lot to do here as far as learning goes. I'm hoping to start at the academy soon." The librarian nodded, "Fair enough. One last book then." He sat a book in front of Akemi and began to take back all of the other books that Akemi had brought to the table. Akemi stared at the black leather book, which had no title on it.

Akemi picked up the new book and ran his fingers over it before feeling a latch and opening it. The book was handwritten in tiny black ink. He could see the smudged ink on the opposite page. He began to read the words out loud. "A boy came into the library today, a most peculiar child. He has been here for quite some time, studying away so hard, it is apparent that he wants into the academy more than anything, so please accept my recommendation for Akemi Hoshigaki." Akemi looked up and said, "Its about me." The librarian reappeared and said, "Yeah, I already sent another to the Academy earlier, but I figured that you may want a copy for yourself. You can use the rest as a diary." Akemi beamed as he stood up and said, "Thanks. Your pretty cool for a meatsack." The jonin gave an awkward left as Akemi headed for the exit.
[Exit to sleep, then to academy.]

Akemi entered the library and began browsing around the jutsu section of the library. Eventually he found a book called, "The Basic: A Kirigakure Academy Jutsu Book." This would be perfect, despite that it was dated back to almost a hundred years ago, he doubted jutsu changed that often.
[19-1=18 || Pass] Akemi began to read. "The first step to any jutsu is chakra molding." Akemi paused, "I think Genini-me told me to work on that." Then he continued reading, "Chakra is the energy that fuels all jutsu, and chakra molding is what gives jutsu their form. Chakra molding can be done through meditation. Relax your breathing and imagine your chakra is like a block of clay. Shape it to your desires and focus on the goal."
[9-1=8 || Fail] Akemi closed his eyes and focused, he tried to squeeze his chakra out of his body like a tube of toothpaste, pressing his hands into his belly while sucking in. He could feel it building up inside of him like an explosion of power about to be let out. "BUUUUUUUURRRRRRRP!" His loud belch was immediately answered by shushing noises.
[12-1=11 || Pass] That was an obvious failure. Akemi continued to read about chakra molding as well as a few meditation techniques. "Most people find that the scenery is the most important part of meditation. Pick a quiet place like a garden ... " Akemi stopped and looked around, he could almost hear the rats in the walls. "Or a library ... Some people find that a dark lit room filled with candles helps them focus, others prefer to sit atop a large stone in the sunlight. Find the method that best suits you." Akemi looked around again. "Dark lit library with a bit of sunlight creeping around the corner." Then he continued. "Make sure that you are on hundred percent focused, clear your mind of all distractions, forget about your worries and just take in the void of nothingness. Now fill your mind with happy thoughts of you succeeding at whatever it is you desire and go obtain your goal!" Akemi winced at the joy and enthusiasm of the last sentence and looked up to see an envelope with his name out it. He lifted it off the table and removed the slip of paper. "Akemi Hoshigaki, report to the academy immediatly after reading this. Hiru Hoshigaki." Akemi's stomach sank, "I killed Mizuiro and now he is going to kill me ... Its not my fault he's so weak." Akemi was felt with a sudden gloom as he closed the book and headed towards the academy grounds.

Batsu entered into the library and the first thing he saw was books... shelves upon shelves of them.
By now, the male realized that he was in heaven. A place filled with nothing but book in abundance? who knew? Batsu didn't, that's for sure.
The boy stepped in and saw a beautiful librarian sitting at her desk reading a book. Batsu preferred other males, but he knew good looks when he saw it. Strangely though, the woman was so entranced by the book that she failed to offer any assistance. It caused Batsu to raise an eyebrow as he walked past her, but in a way, he understood.
Upon approaching a bookshelf, Batsu IMMEDIATELY saw a book that caught his eye "The Shinobi Guide to Success". The male plucked the book from the shelf and headed to the closest table to start reading.

'Chapter one: Shinobi basics
A ninja must first realize that they are to put self last in any given situation. An exception of which is when you are in danger. In which case, survival kicks in.
Mission always comes first, followed by the country, teammates, self, and enemies. Many a ninja have forgotten the hierarchy and have been looked down upon and even exiled." Reading a book +1 to Int. DC = 10 Modifier = -1 0/10 12 - 1 = 11 (success)
