"What was that?" He caught her saying something, something about leaving maybe, but she'd had her face buried in his neck, and he'd been distracted with figuring out where to set her, that he hadn't quite caught it. "Don't think you what?" Did she think she couldn't handle eating, or that she didn't want to ******** with figuring out how to navigate the line while being carried? He'd offered to set her down. Maybe she just wasn't feeling well? But he'd already brought her in here, he couldn't just pack her out without her having anything to eat. Or, maybe she wanted to go with him on a drive after all. If that were the case, then she could always have something to eat that wasn't on the cafeteria menu. There were places out there, off campus, that'd be pretty good to drop in at. Before he could really question her anymore about it, though, she spoke again, and her tone seemed to have shifted a little. That, or he was imagining things.

"Cravings changed, huh? That's cool, we can, uh... definitely go somewhere else, if you wanna." His voice shifted, as he spoke, drifting from confused, at first, to sort of trailing off quietly, distractedly. She wasn't clinging to him for dear life, any longer. No, instead, he sort of focused on her voice, and the way she spoke, not really noticing that his own senses were getting a little fuzzy. He wasn't quite so tuned in to the chatter around them, anymore, or the smells from the food, or the clattering of chairs and trays on the tables. He then became very aware of the way he was drawing in each of his own breaths, as he felt her lips against his skin. He definitely knew he should be very confused, but instead, well... he was diggin' it. Duke Blondie would probably have a meltdown and call for him to be guillotined, or whatever sort of s**t Dukes typically did, but whatever.

"You mean me?" he asked, a dumb grin spreading over his face, as he asked a question he was pretty sure he already knew the answer to. What the hell was this all of a sudden? Never, not once, during any of the times in the past that he'd interacted with Trinity Blake, had she ever acted this way towards him. Now, weirdly, it was like she was actually into him or something. But not only was she supposedly all betrothed to Duke Blondie or whateveer, but as far as he knew, haughty witches from fancy pants families tended to look down on vampires. Never mind actually flirting with one. Didn't she have some reputation of some kind to be all worried about? "Ya know, you shouldn't go sayin' stuff like that, even if it is pretty ********' cute. I know you know that I bite back." He kept his voice down. She was right there in his arms, so it wouldn't be too hard for her to hear him, even speaking quietly. Something in his tone made it hard to tell whether what he said was meant to be taken as a warning, a threat, or an offer.

Thinking about it did make him want to bite her, but at least for that moment, he was able to resist the urge. Being in the middle of the cafeteria, with a whole bunch of their classmates around, was thankfully enough to keep him from doing something he would absolutely be in heaps of trouble for. The fact that they'd entered the place with him carrying her like a princess had probably already earned them some looks. Instead, a mischievous smile crept over his face. Although he was able to resist sinking teeth into her in front of a bunch of people, he wasn't able to resist wanting to kiss her back. He dipped his head a little, pressing his forehead gently against hers, eying her intently. As he spoke, even more softly now, his lips came dangerously near to hers. "We really can go somewhere else, if that's what you want. Name it. Wherever you wanna go." Unlike her, he hadn't even realized that Kurt Rathmore actually was there, in the cafeteria, and had absolutely seen the two of them. Then again, even if he had, would it really have bothered him? He loved messing with the Duke, after all. It would probably be majorly entertaining, seeing him get his panties all in a wad over his honey in some other guy's arms.

"You want it done fast, or do you want it done right? I can do both, I'm just asking..."

The sudden burst of confidence in Harley’s words had him arching a brow slightly, his lips curling up into a fascinated grin. Well now, what was all this? Was his adorable roommate trying to be brave for him? The thought had a warmth spreading through his chest again that had nothing to do with the desire he was becoming used to. Gods, he was weak for this male. Just when he thought he had the snowy vamp figured out, a new side of him shined through. And he was all the more enraptured by him because of it.

ā€Be careful saying such things, Harlequin. I might just hold you to them.ā€ Although he knew he’d never force the adorable vamp to keep his word, he did want to keep him on his toes. He found himself rather enjoying the way his eyes lowered or his features flushed whenever Seb called him out on things. Especially when it was just the two of them and he was able to catch Harley off guard. Seeing the surprise in his eyes, just as he was now, gave him one hell of a kick.

At the words he was given, however, he felt his body go nearly rigid in response. Did he realize what he was saying? What he was doing? It was one thing to be bold when it came to kisses and the like. But this? The adorable vamp was opening a can of worms that was bound to make a mess of things. Just when they were going so well! Swallowing another growl, he tightened his hold on Harley’s wrists and opened his mouth to try and argue. To try and make him see what such a confession could bring. Alas, the Fates had other plans and before he could even open his mouth, soft lips were on his and something in his mind snapped.

Instinct and desire took over his mind and turned off all rational thinking. Seb released his hold on the snowy male and instead wrapped his arms around him. Fitting his petite form against his own, he turned swiftly to pin Harley between his body and the bathroom sink. He didn’t want to give him any escape. Any way to run and turn the kiss into something more. Something that would truly release the beast he had been turned into. The thought of chasing down the snowy vamp and having his way with him turned his thoughts dark and had the growl he had been holding back rumbling in his throat.

While he wanted to prove how bad of an idea it was for the other vampire to have said such things, he didn’t want to scare him completely. So, Sebastian shoved such thoughts away and kept his arms where they were. He poured his desire into the kiss they shared instead, letting the other male know exactly what he was capable of. Teeth, tongue, and lips made demands of Harley that he would have never said out loud. Unspoken desires that he had been carrying around a lot longer than he cared to admit and couldn’t help but let go of now that he finally had the other vamp in his hold.

Rowan was in quite a happy mood, over the idea of Michelet coming back home with him to meet all of his siblings, the possibility of them making things together with Kurt and Penny too, and of the sweet that Kurt had started to describe. His own attention, too, was drawn however to where Michelet had looked, and to where Kurt's gaze quickly followed. He flinched in surprise, when Kurt's hands suddenly hit the table, having not expected the sudden motion, nor the sound that had come with it. He could feel an anxious drop in the pit of his stomach, when he saw Trinity, whom Kurt had been engaged to until only that morning, wrapped up in the arms of someone that Rowan was sure he was not really familiar with. Was that why they'd broken things off? Because Trinity had met someone else? Or, maybe things had happened before the engagement broke, behind Kurt's back, and that was why he'd seemed so upset earlier, in the hallway. So miserable and grieving. Not for the first time that morning, Rowan chewed a bit at the inside of his cheek, nervous. He looked from Trinity, and the guy now holding her so cozily, back to Kurt, eying him warily, as of unsure what sort of reaction to expect out of him. Perhaps Michelet's suggestion was best, and they should try to usher him elsewhere, so he wouldn't have to be around Trinity and whatever situation she was currently involved in.

Despite Kurt's sudden, spur of the moment reaction, he'd gone and settled back down into his seat, almost robotically. Rowan gave one more little glance back to Trinity and the other guy, before looking to Kurt, who was staring at the table, then shifted his gaze to Michelet questioningly, unsure now how to proceed. He'd wanted Kurt to come along with them for breakfast, to try to help cheer him up, and help him feel better, but now? He may not have been a sobbing mess like before, but this empty, defeated Kurt sitting at the table with them now honestly seemed far worse. The way that he relayed the information to Michelet, information that Rowan had already received earlier, it was so stoic.

He swallowed hard, now unwilling to touch anymore of his breakfast. The situation had brought about a feeling of tension, at the whole table, that had him a bit to anxious to want to take another bite, as he struggled with trying to think of what to say. He doubted there was anything he could say, that would make this situation better to any degree. He noticed, then, the way that Kurt was shifting around so much where he sat, unable to be still, or to leave his hair alone. "Michelet's right, maybe some air would be good? Like a walk?" Walking it off, trying to cool down, might be better than Kurt writhing in his seat so restlessly the way he was now.

Unsurprisingly the duke’s reaction was even more extreme than his own, the man shooting up from his seat and slamming both hands onto the table. For just a moment, Kurtis was back to himself and clearly ready to fly into a rage in defense of his woman. And then it was gone again and the blond deflated back into his seat, his empty gaze fixed on the table. They had concluded their engagement; that was all the duke offered in a monotone voice as though his soul had left his body. So this had to be the cause of the duke’s funk… Michelet would never have been able to guess it in a million years. The relationship between Duke Kurtis Rathmore and Miss Trinity Blake was perhaps the only constant in his short time enrolled at this school and he had never questioned their feelings for one another despite his dislike for them both in the beginning. What could have happened to change things so quickly? He did not understand it.

They should get Kurt out of here. Rowan had seconded the sentiment; the man just shouldn’t have to watch the love of his life cozy up to someone new. But was it too late to even matter? Kurt had already seen them, had what little spark he was clinging to sucked right out of him, and was now staring into his coffee as if the dark liquid might share some words of wisdom. He could hardly sit still, but for all his fidgeting he had made no move to remove himself from the situation. It was like he lacked the will to spare himself this pain… or perhaps more like he knew he would carry the pain with him whether he could see her or not. Was the only option left to them really to just sit awkwardly and watch the man suffer?

There was a time when he might have laughed at this outcome, letting his dislike of them both evolve into cruelty. It would have been wrong even then, his maman taught him it was downright sinful to just do nothing when he could lend a hand, but he still might have done so. He was only human and they were enemies, in his mind. But things had changed since then. Even before today with the duke, things had shifted with Trinity. He didn’t know what to make of her, but she wasn’t his enemy. He didn’t want her to be miserable. He would have even gone as far as to say he wished her happiness with her duke, whether he could stand the man or not. She loved him, of that Michelet was certain. So why was she in another man’s arms right now?

ā€Das no good ā€˜nough.ā€ Michelet announced calmly as he rose from his seat. He couldn’t just leave it be. He had to act. He just didn’t know how to sit still and fret without doing a damned thing about the problem; it wasn’t in his nature. Arguably that was what caused his whole trouble with Blaise, but even that reminder fell short of dissuading him. He wasn’t going to pick a fight with Trinity or her new man. He wasn’t going to throw any punches. But he was going to stick his nose where it didn’t belong. He’d said he wouldn’t expect Kurt to tell him anything, so that left him one other option. He was going right up to Trinity and he was going to shake something loose and get his damned answers first hand. And maybe, just maybe, once he understood what the hell was going on he could figure out what to do about it. If there was anything to be done.

Michelet turned and strode toward the vampire carrying Trinity, though he had eyes only for the witch. He never spoke to the vampire or even glanced his way, but instead upon reaching them he extended a hand to grasp Trinity’s chin and turn her gaze to him. He did not hold onto her for long, the shock of an outside influence on his will caused him to almost immediately drop his hand, but he wanted the woman facing him when he spoke. ā€De hell you tink you doin’?ā€ Michelet’s voice was calm, even soft, but a deep frown cut into his features as he spoke. ā€Nevah t’ought Ah see de day you brek dat man heart jes’ cause it you heart t’ brek. Nevah tink you de type jes t’row youself at some new toy, neider. Wuz I dat wrong ā€˜bout you? You tell me true here an’ now; you no love him no more or what? You no wan’ say you do in de first place, but don’ tink you fool me none. De last time we speak, you love him. What it is now? You don’ love him, you look me in mah dem face and tell me you don’. If you kin no do dat, den you bedder tell me what he do mek you lose youself like dis.ā€

Sebastian arched a brow and Harley knew he had managed to surprise his roommate again. But then who could have imagined that timid little Harley would ever boldly encourage anyone to kiss him? The snowy vampire would not have believed himself capable of getting the words out, honestly. Perhaps he never would have found that courage if it wasn’t for Sebastian. The other vampire had given him a taste of everything he had ever wanted and convinced himself he could not, and should not, have. It was no longer a matter of whether he should have it, but whether he could bear to lose it. He could not, not without a fight. He wanted to be able to kiss this handsome, charming, fascinating man and have him return that affection fully; how could he not?

Harlequin had been careful for all of his life and it had gotten him nowhere. If he had stayed careful, he would never have been at that dance and yes, that would have been much safer for him. He might never have even seen the beasts that attacked the school. Perhaps he would even still be friends with Beck. But would he ever have befriended Beck in the first place had he not joined in on the adventure of finding Greg? If he had not gone to the dance, he would not have been able to dance with Beck or Sebastian. And he would have missed out on his first kiss in four centuries, to say nothing of Sebastian’s unexpected profession of interest. That was the cost of being so careful; he had missed out on truly living at all for so long. He would not be careful and, with any luck, Sebastian would hold him to every word and to himself.

It was obvious that Sebastian was still hesitating and holding back, his body stiffening in response to Harley’s words. Had he said something wrong after all? No… no, he did not believe that he had. While Sebastian was clearly surprised to hear the words from his lips, Harley was no longer afraid that he was not wanted. And if they each wanted the other, then it was time that he made his interest just as clear as Sebastian had. His fears and trepidations were the only obstacles to his claiming even more of what he most desired. He wouldn’t get in his own way again. Whatever words of caution Sebastian had intended to say, Harley was all too eager to smother them with a kiss.

Sebastian released his wrists to wrap his arms around Harley instead, drawing the smaller body against his own. Before Harley knew what was happening, he was swiftly turned and pinned against the bathroom sink. The snowy vampire gasped in surprise at the sudden movement, his skin tinged pink at the increased intimacy of this new position. He was in for an even greater surprise when Sebastian kissed him in a way he had never been kissed before, with a passion not unlike a ravenous hunger that threatened to consume him. It was… overwhelming! And it was titillating beyond comparison.

Harley wrapped his arms around Sebastian’s neck, the slender fingers of one hand burrowing into his roommate’s blond hair. His other hand clenched Sebastian’s shirt, Harley clinging for dear life in this new storm of unleashed passion. A lustful moan escaped him and there was no denying his body’s reaction when it was pressed so tightly against the man. He was behaving so shamefully… By now he would normally have changed forms and flown away in fear and shame. But God help him, he wasn’t going to flee this time. He had not even known a kiss could be like this! No words in a book could compare to this, the frenzied meeting of tongues, the catch of hungry teeth against his lips, the press of flesh to flesh without space for even a breath between. How much more had he missed in his long life of being so damned careful?

Kurt's eyes flicked around between Michelet, Rowan and his coffee, trying so hard not look directly at the painful sight, yet still being uncomfortably drawn to it. He was hoping the conversation would continue on and distract him, but it was difficult to focus his mind on anything that wasn't the self-loathing thoughts that continued to repeat themselves over and over in finer detail. Each one cut deeper than the last, whittling down his soul.

Finally Rowan softly tried to coax him out again and Kurt looked back to him with a smile so fake he might as well have been held at gun point. ā€œYes- of course.ā€ He replied as if leaving was for Rowan's sake than his own, though clearly he would rather be anywhere but here. ā€œI think I could actually do with that stiff drink Michelet mentioned. The coffee isn't quite cutting it. Heh-ā€ The poor acting was even more so, as a strained chuckle broke the end of his sentence.

His distracted focus failed him, and his eyes fell upon Trinity again. Instantly his blood turned cold by her amethyst gaze, even from such a distance, it locked his heart in place. The way she stared him straight in the eye, then sensually toyed with her companions skin. Was this intentional? Was she trying to hurt him? Was all their time together just an act of playing nice to hold her position? Did she really want him so suffer so much now?

Kurt didn't want to think, he didn't want to consider it. He couldn't do it. His attention was forced down to the table. He was on the brink of the void, staring into oblivion. He had to push it down, if he jumped to that conclusion, it would end him.

His eye's flicked up briefly to Michelet and Rowan, hoping they would be ready to leave. Michelet however was not in his seat, and was instead marching up with a destination of Kurt's doom. ā€œM-Michelet-ā€ He stammered coarsely, but the man already had a head start and out of reach of his pitiful cry. 'No, no, no! I don't want to know! I can't-' ā€œMonsieur! Please, I beg of you!ā€ His clumsy legs stumbled out from around the table and through the crowd, but he wasn't fast enough. Michelet was already engaging with them, Kurt staggered over, but his nerves stopped him a distance away. As if her physical barriers were up, he couldn't approach any close.

ā€œP-Please, Monsieur.ā€ Kurt begged from a couple of meters away, his hand reaching out into the air as if to pull him away but just out of range. He tried to keep his tearing eyes on Michelet, but they were drawn like a magnet back to Trinity's as they always did. ā€œI-I'm sorry.ā€ He suddenly began pleading to her uncontrollably. ā€œI didn't- I didn't tell him to do this! I swear. Please, don't-ā€ It couldn't be said. Even now when he babbled like a madman trying to pray for his life. If he heard those words it would be too late.

The derpy look on his face when he finally caught on had her laughing softly. Cute and dumb was her favorite kind of snack. Letting her fingers curl into his hair, she nodded in response to his question and stretched a bit in his arms. She wanted to be closer. To feel more of him against her. If she could get him completely under her control, she’d be able to take more from him without him even realizing it. Being immortal would give him an edge on her, one she was more than happy to exploit so long as she got what she wanted.

At his warning, Trin grinned wickedly and ran her tongue along her bottom lip in anticipation. The thought of kissing him drove the darkness within her wild. A new toy to play with, one that wouldn’t black out on her or die suddenly. She really didn’t want to have to explain why he wasn’t breathing should she get caught. Would he be surprised if she told him he wasn’t the only one that bites? Or would he be okay with it? No one but Eliza and Kurtis knew what she was, knew of the monstrosity she had become, so she made a mental note to save that for later. For now, she’d enjoy playing with him and watching the agony that was radiating off of her former fiance in nearly visible waves.

ā€I shouldn’t do a lot of things, Luke, but here I am. Are you really going to tell me no?ā€ She nearly purred the words as he set his forehead against her own, drawing her dark eyes to his face finally. He was so warm. So tempting. And no more than a breath away from making contact. If she tipped her head just a bit more she could connect them, then all bets would be off. Aching to do so, she slid her hands back from his neck to frame his face. His offer to leave earned him a brilliant smile, one that she so rarely allowed others to see. He was falling for her charms beautifully. And if they could get away, she could enjoy him slowly. Take her time with him in all sorts of ways. The thought finalized her plans and had her opening her mouth to answer, to give him the response he had no idea he would end up regretting. The Fates, however, once again had other plans.

The sound of incoming footsteps was ignored up until the moment her face was physically pulled away from Luke’s. A soft growl rumbled in her throat at being interrupted, only to be swallowed at the sight of Michelet standing beside them. Intrigued, Trinity blinked at the male as he spoke and listened silently. He was accusing HER of being the one to break Kurtis?! As if SHE were the one that had started this entire thing?! Rage began to seep into her features as she moved in Luke’s arms, squirming enough to have him setting her gently back onto one foot. She made sure to pull his arms around her as she leaned back into his chest, using his tall frame to keep her from toppling over. If Michelet wanted to play ball, she was more than happy to join in. Especially when he was riding in as the White Knight for the wrong damn Royal.

ā€How I feel has nothing to do with what happened, bokor. Kurtis was the one that ended things. HE was the one that contacted his parents and asked that he be allowed to dissolve the deal we made. HE was the one that came to my room and told me he loved me and that he was sorry it wasn’t enough. He gave me NO time to respond. NO time to argue or defend myself. Simply stated his peace then left.ā€ The memory of it had tears swimming in her eyes as pain began to replace the anger his confrontation had started. How DARE he come over and get between her and Luke, as if he actually cared about Kurtis and his feelings. Hadn’t they discussed his dislike for the Duke in the library not long ago? Oh, but now that the poor blonde was being pitiful and depressed, it was okay for the bokor to be friends with him?!

Disgusted by it all, she shook her head and opened her mouth to continue, only to be silenced at the sound of a familiar voice. It pulled her focus to Kurt and had her eyes narrowing on his features. Gods, why was she letting him hurt her again? Why was she allowing his presence to feel like a vise was wrapped around her heart, squeezing it to a bloody pulp?! She wasn’t some weak minded, sap of a female. She was Trinity Blake! Descendant of powerful witches and demons alike! She didn’t have to stand for this! Done being the damsel, Trinity turned to face the blonde and lifted her head to look down at him as he had once looked down at Michelet. Like the peasant he truly was.

ā€Regardless of whether or not you sent your guard dog after me, Kurtis, let’s end this now. I would hate to, how did you say it, ā€˜make you suffer for my fantasy.ā€™ā€ She tossed his own words back into his face, her voice dripping with the venom she could feel building in her chest. ’Yes, feel the heartache, Rathmore. Drown in the agony of your misery. Feel as awful and unwanted as I do…’ Trin thought to herself as she held his gaze, her hands settling on Luke’s where they rested on her stomach.

ā€I never loved you. I used you to further my own interests and get into a place that was shunning me for what I am. You were a nameplate, a placeholder, and a pawn in the game I have been playing. Thank you, truly, for releasing me from your outrageously annoying presence and giving me what I wanted. I will be sure to use every advantage our temporary connection has given me and revel in the fact that I don’t have to spend the rest of my rather long life tied to someone as weak, pathetic, and useless as you.ā€ With the final twist of the knife into his heart, she blew him a kiss before tipping her head back to look up at Luke. Desire and hunger once more returned to her violet gaze as she gave his hands a squeeze, motioning towards the doors they had entered in not long before.

ā€Let’s get out of here, handsome. It’s getting a little crowded in here for my liking.ā€

In a situation like this, some part of Luke's brain would normally be sounding off alarm bells. Of course, he wouldn't necessarily listen to them, but they'd theoretically be there. Now, though, there was nothing, and he didn't even notice. Trinity Blake in his arms, kissing on him, even suggesting that she would let him bite her (and maybe bite him back). He definitely should have been wondering what the hell was going on, but instead, he was happy to roll with it. He absolutely wouldn't say no to spending alone time with such a pretty witch. "I don't think I could tell you no even if I wanted to." As if he'd ever have that level of self-control. Especially not when she had her pretty eyes fixed on him that way, and smiling such a sweet smile at him. He found it pretty well impossible to look away from her.

At least, until a third wheel turned up. Somebody Luke wasn't familiar with, had strode his way right up to the two of them, and started laying into Trinity, giving her a piece of his mind. Luke's brain was rather in a fog now, feeling like it was constantly a few words behind the exchange. That the guy had a pretty heavy accent didn't help much, either. He was working on putting the pieces together, when he realized that Duke Blondie himself actually was nearby, actually... pleading?

He stayed quiet, throughout the conversation, but managed to work out that... Kurt broke up with Trinity, now Trinity was pissed, picked Luke himself to be some kind of a petty rebound... or, "new toy", as this other guy put it... and this other guy was mad about it? Goddamn, this was almost reality TV level relationship drama. Or, maybe soap opera. Were witches always this dramatic? Now that he thought about it, his stupid brother was pretty dramatic. This must definitely have been a witch thing. Trinity was injured, and had pretty well declared that she was choosing his company over the Duke and his mystery buddy. So, Luke wasn't about to go ditching her now. Besides, she was all grown up. If she wanted to be petty and ******** around with someone else now that she was, apparently, not involved with Kurt any longer, she was free to do so. What was Kurt going to do about it anyway? Fight a vampire? Plus, even if Luke didn't hate Kurt, the guy was still, well... a member of a family with a prestigious name that everybody knew, and lots of money, and a title, and whatever. It reminded Luke a lot of his own dad, and many of the other vampires that he engaged with. Witches with status were probably just as bad as vampires... no, probably worse. Would it really hurt Duke Kurtis Rathmore all that much to be knocked on his a** once in a while? Figuratively or literally.

Still, the way that Trinity let Kurt have it... ouch. He tilted his head a little, and looked back to her as she addressed him again, after giving Kurt a verbal thrashing, and the concern that he'd started to feel, about the whole situation, was nulled, but that feeling of mental fog. As though, as soon as he looked at Trinity again, his head got emptied of most thoughts and stuffed with cotton instead. She suggested they leave now, and he could do little more than give her a bit of an air-headed nod. "Yeah, sure thing. Wherever you wanna go." A mischievous grin returned to his face, and he glanced back to the other guy and Kurt for only a moment, before hugging Trin a little tighter to him again and turning to head back out of the cafeteria with her.

Outside the cafeteria, he wandered his way down one of the halls, with her still in his arms, now unsure what direction it was that he was meant to go, or what direction she wanted him to go. "Damn," he said, after walking for a bit in silence, "I didn't know Duke Blondie went n' broke stuff off on you like that." At least, he hadn't known until a hot minute ago. Now that they weren't there anymore, confronted by Kurt and his 'guard dog', or whatever, he was actually relieved to be away from the situation. He absolutely did not wanna touch that drama with a twenty foot pole. "Hopefully we don't gotta be worried about either of them. I dunno that other guy. Anyway... you okay, after that? Is there anywhere in particular you want me to take you? If you don't have a destination in mind, we can always wing it."

š˜š˜°š˜¤š˜¢š˜µš˜Ŗš˜°š˜Æ → cafeteria --- out in the main building hallway
        š˜¤š˜°š˜®š˜±š˜¢š˜Æš˜ŗ → Trinity + Kurt + some other guy --- Trinity again

Kurt’s voice reached his ears and Michelet almost growled in sheer frustration. It was happening all over again, just as it had with Blaise and Elizabeth. He had done only what he had thought it was right to do, and yet the person who should have best understood why he had to do it was begging him to stop. Kurtis didn’t want to know the answer. He didn’t want Michelet to press where it hurt, even if that was the only way it might ever heal. Michelet hesitated, half turning toward the still distant duke. Was he really wrong?

Judging by Trinity’s response, he didn’t think he was wrong at all. At least not about challenging this crazy behavior, even if there was more to it than he had known. The duke had cut off their engagement? Just like that? Why would he do such a damned stupid thing? But he knew that answer now too, didn’t he? Kurtis was in love with Trinity and just enough of a colossal idiot to think that wasn’t enough for her. The frown on his lips softened as the bokor took a moment to absorb it all. Damn, these fancy witches could make a mess of the simplest things. They were in love, everyone in their hoity toity circles approved, and they were still unable to just be together. What foolishness.

Seeing the tears that threatened to fall, Michelet instinctively reached out again. He ignored the strange effect touching her had on his mind as he gently brushed moisture from her cheek. Only in retrospect did he think she would probably slap his hand away after how he had approached, but he wouldn’t apologize. What should he even apologize for? Giving a damn how these two felt about each other? Wanting Trinity to be happy, not just satisfied in the moment with a nameless vampire? He was not sorry for those things.

No, his only regret was not waiting to approach Trinity alone. She was honest with him, open and vulnerable, but the moment her once fiance entered the picture her venom returned. She lied through her teeth, pretty lips spewing poison enough to finish the duke off where he stood. There was no way he could hear all that and still hold on to the one little admission Trinity hadn’t meant to make while throwing the blond’s words back in his face.

ā€You a dem liar, Miss Trindy Blake. An’ he a dem fool to t’row you away like dat.ā€ Michelet said softly, not wanting his voice to carry to the duke. It wouldn’t help. And he wouldn’t hold back to spare the man’s feelings. ā€Mebbe he deserve t’hurt aftah dat. Ah’m de last person tell you no pay bek what due. Jes be careful wit’ you own heart while you brek his.ā€ Michelet then touched a finger to his own heart for emphasis before he turned to walk away. The woman wasn’t listening to him anyway and her new toy was eager to whisk her away. He could not help her; she was too hurt and did not want to be helped.

Michelet pulled out his flask and offered it to the duke as he neared. Alcohol wouldn’t be nearly enough to mend what was broken, but it was the best medicine he had for what ailed the man. He didn’t try to defend his actions; hell, if the duke wanted to scream at him for a bit then Michelet would let it happen. It was easy enough to keep his mouth shut about that but much harder to not address the elephant in the room. Kurt had broken off his engagement with the woman he loved and never figured out in all their time together that she loved him, too. Michelet wanted to scream it in his face, but that was the last thing he should do.

The ugly pleading froze as her gaze captured him. Only bloodshot eyes were left silently screaming as the rest of his body quaked for mercy. 'Please... don't...' But it was too late. Like a tornado of glass, Trinity's assault of words was a force of nature that decimated him; mind, body, and soul. Splintering them into a million pieces as easy as withered birch being ruthlessly torn from its stable ground.

Standing there, shattered, the venomous onslaught was just too much. His eyes finally shut tight and his hands clasped over his ears as he recoiled away, subconsciously trying to shield what remained. Though it was no good, the storm had already passed and he was left desolate. Michelet had his own mind to speak, but this was unheard and unnoticed by Kurt. All he could see and feel was static and his own heavy heart beat. There was no initial thoughts, just pain.

He didn't even realise his eyes were open till Trinity began to move past. ā€œT-Trinity... Trinity, please. I-I'm...ā€ A few staggered steps forwards and the weak broken words did nothing to sway her though, and she was quickly whisked away by her new love. ā€œI'm sorry.ā€ His eyes continued to stare through the door she left, focus pulsing in and out of a blurry mess. Hands still clasped overhead, his fingers frustratedly grabbed fists full of blond hair as though he was about to tear himself in two.

Finally a flask appeared on the edge of his vision. Kurt stared at it with blankness before following up the arm to Michelet's solemn look and back down. His hands slowly released his hair and lowered, one reaching out to take the offered drink. Closing his eyes he held his breath and knocked it back, taking one gulp, then two, and so on. Tipped up on end he chugged back on the flask like a fraternity pledge. Choking back on the burn till he could no longer hold his breath, he pulled the drink away with a gasp and cough. Wiping back the messy blond locks he rested his forehead in his hand and stared at the floor...

His breaths became ragged, shaking his shoulders, as he almost hissed with each inhale. But he wasn't crying... He was laughing. ā€œHeh... hehaha-...ā€ The quiet chuckle slowly twisted till it was a full on cackle.

'Pathetic'

ā€œHehaha~ā€ He continued to cackle to himself like a madman. Of course, it was all for nothing. Of course, he should have never tried in the first place. It had only seemed to cause her more pain and frustration of being tethered to such a worm. Maybe if had died that Friday night things would have been better for everyone... Would she be happy then? Would that finally be the thing that he could do for her? Would that put them at peace?

The painful thoughts made him grasp at his hair again, pulling it back he brought the flask to his lips, as if forcing himself to swallow back the numbing burn. He didn't even consider the dubious looks he was receiving from those witnessing the dramatic display. His life was less than nothing now. It had been made forfeit by the only person who gave it any perceived value.

After choking back all the rum he could he shoved the far more depleted flask back into Michelet's hands, coughing again as he did. Running his hands through his hair and wiping his mouth he straightened up. ā€œThank you, I see much more clearly now.ā€ Though suddenly calmer now, there was a serious and icy glaze over his stare that intensely focused upon the man. Kurt didn't blame Michelet for making Trinity say what Kurt feared... At least he knew now where his worth and purpose.

"You want it done fast, or do you want it done right? I can do both, I'm just asking..."

The sound of his gasp had the heat in his body turning up a few more degrees. It had been so long since he’d given in to his urges, a choice he’d made more to keep his mind clear and focused. If he messed around with the student body then he risked not only his place at the school but his income. Seb had thought himself to be above all of that. Or, rather, strong enough to resist. But when it came to the snowy vamp in his arms, it seemed all bets were off. And ******** for that.

At the feel of fingers in his hair, he growled against Harley’s lips once more and lifted the male off his feet. With their height difference, he was bound to jack up his back if he kept bending over as he was. He did his best to remain as gentle as was possible before settling his roomie on the edge of the sink, relief racing through him as he stepped in to close the distance. Greedy hands roamed over the other male’s sides, trailing softly along the outside of his legs then back up over his thighs. Gods, he wanted to feel every inch of the petite vamp against him. No barriers, no space, nothing but the sweetness that was Harley. It was maddening to hold back, but this was still new. And Seb had a feeling that his roommate wasn’t nearly as experienced as he was.

Without the need for oxygen, he could have happily wasted hours getting to learn every inch of Harley’s lips. The idea had him groaning into their kiss once more before rational thinking kicked him in the skull. Things had happened over the last week. Crazy things. People had died. Beck had vanished. And here he was smooching his roommate in their bathroom! Had he lost his mind?! Betting on it, Seb lingered for a few extra moments before finally breaking the meeting of lips. He leaned back just enough to set his brow lightly against the snowy vamps, a wicked smile curling up his lips as he looked over the flush on the other male’s features.

ā€Okay, we are in trouble.ā€ Had he still had a heartbeat, he knew it would have been pounding in his chest. How was just a kiss causing such a reaction in him? He wanted to do things he hadn’t even thought of in decades. And to someone that was absolutely innocent! He was a monster! Swallowing a sigh at the thought, he shifted a bit to brush his lips once more over his companion’s before straightening up. ā€It’s going to be agony to keep myself from kissing you at every opportunity. Or touching you. Tasting youā€¦ā€ As he spoke, Seb tipped his head to the side to nuzzle his lips into the curve of Harley’s neck. Ivory fangs nipped gently at the sensitive skin there, marveling at the new taste of him. A moan of his own escaped before he could help it, forcing him to pull back on the reins and leave a kiss alone on his roomie’s skin.

ā€Oh yeah, big trouble. You are too damn sweet, Harlequin. And too tempting for someone as weak as I am.ā€ With great difficulty, he brought his arms back up and around Harley and simply held him close. He just needed a moment. Just one more before he stepped back. Or so he told himself as he let his eyes close and the scent of Harley fill his head.

A genuine spark of confusion flickered in the silver she-wolf's stormy eyes as the Alpha shook her head, quickly dismissing both Lexi's thanks and apology as unnecessary, and at least easing her initial concerns over the woman's mood. However, she found herself a little overwhelmed as Callie continued into her flustered confession. These were the kind of soft words Lexi had once longed to hear from the person closest to her, until eventually, she had given up, realizing that craving that affection only made her weak and pathetic in the eyes of those she respected the most. Then all of a sudden here was this beautiful stranger so easily voicing these feelings. Meanwhile, the scruffy she-wolf stood almost dumbfounded, her heart racing, and a million responses rushing through her mind only to get caught in her throat as she second-guessed herself. It had been so simple, while she had been intoxicated, to push aside those deep-seated fears and speak her mind without consequence. But now she was sober the thought of sharing those feelings twisted a tight knot in her chest. What if she still managed to say something wrong?

The one thing Lexi did understand was how quickly these feelings had manifested themselves. Despite her tendency to seek out brief, passing encounters, she had spent the last few years carefully building her barriers and not letting herself get too close to anyone on an emotional level. Then, in blew hurricane Callie, in the space of just a few hours the Alpha had torn down her walls and taken everything Lexi had thought she had known about the world and the people in it, and flipped it completely on its head. Yet this was a storm she would chase into oblivion if it meant she could continue to experience the same rush she felt every time Callie held her. Though thankfully, right now she only had to make it as far as her bedroom, and with a little help from the beautiful woman she was soon settled back on her bed.

Shuffling back to prop herself against the wall and pulling the duvet over her lap Lexi continued to hang on Callie's every word while the Alpha stepped back to stare at the ceiling. Her stormy gaze briefly followed, resting on roughly the same spot for a moment before quickly dropping back to the woman as she began to apologize. ā€œWait, what?... No, you didn't do anything wrong! Really, I get it, I do...ā€ The silver she-wolf stumbled over every sentence. She didn't have the same pretty way with words that Callie had, but still, she knew she needed to find a way to let the Alpha know how she felt, despite the anxious twisting in her stomach. ā€œI don't know what it is, but being around you is just different. It's new and exciting.ā€

Soon the words were once again flowing from Lexi uncontrollably, and somehow she still felt like she was digging herself into a hole even though Callie had just freely admitted her own feelings. This was all so new to her, she had never opened up to anyone before, not like this. It felt like there was so much that needed to be said, but there wasn't enough time or words in the world to really explain. ā€œNobody's ever stopped to help me like this before.ā€ Scruffy ears laid back against her damp silver hair, her brows furrowed with guilt as her gaze dropped to the floor. ā€œI know how selfish I must sound, but it was kind of nice, being told I could just relax and take it easy. I wanna keep feeling this...This rush I feel whenever you're around. But I don't want you to feel responsible, or like you have to be here.ā€

Set adrift in their passionate kiss, Harley was caught a little off guard when his feet left the floor. The feeling of floating was surely only meant to be metaphorical. Sebastian had plucked him off his feet and Harley felt light as a feather as he was deposited in the edge of the sink. For one brief moment that he would surely groan over later, Harley had the out of left field thought that at least if the sink were to break under his weight, Sebastian could probably fix it. He did not do much thinking at all after that as Sebastian’s lips found his once more, his roommate’s questing hands roving over his body and sending hot licks of desire racing through him. Harley had thought he knew what it felt like to lust for another, but this was a new height for him. He felt like he would never come down from it. In his excitement he did not even think to stifle the moans and soft gasps that escaped him to be swallowed by Sebastian’s lips.

The sounds Sebastian made set Harley’s spine to tingling; there was something so feral and animalistic about them. As if he was prey that Sebastian was hunting. That… should have been a frightening thought, but it only left the smaller vampire more excited. But something was off. Something held Sebastian back still. It was just out of reach without prying, like the spine of a book on a shelf too high for him to more than graze it with his fingertips. But Sebastian was smiling when he drew back, resting his forehead against Harley’s, and that prompted him to smile in return. Maybe he didn’t have to unravel the mystery right now while the room was still spinning too fast. There would be time to understand.

ā€Trouble?ā€ Harley repeated a bit absently, still smiling as he stared into Sebastian’s eyes. He tried to shake free a coherent thought from the jumble that his mind was in, but could not at all fathom what trouble they would be in. The sink hadn’t even broken; he supposed he really did not weigh all that much. But then Sebastian brushed one light, parting kiss to his lips and straightened before explaining. Harley’s cheeks flushed with faint color but he smiled even more brightly. It still filled him with amazement that Sebastian even wanted to kiss and touch him.

Almost as if to prove that desire, Sebastian leaned in to nuzzle and n** at the tender skin of Harley’s neck. ā€Oh!ā€ It had surprised him, a pleasant surprise. Harley instinctively tilted his head, baring his neck to Sebastian’s attention, but his roommate only pressed a kiss to his skin before pulling back. But before Harley could miss the contact, Sebastian held him close and he rested his cheek on the taller vampire’s shoulder. He leaned in to n** experimentally at Sebastian’s neck in return; he had quite enjoyed it, so why not return that attention?

ā€I would hate for you to ever suffer in agony.ā€ Harley murmured against Sebastian’s skin, hiding his shy smile and flushed face. ā€So perhaps you should not try too very hard to stop yourself. I… I enjoyed that… I think you know.ā€

Luna let out a sigh of relief. Izzy hadn’t bothered to question why Luna had been avoiding Lexi. Not that it was interesting in the least. But she had just gotten to know Izzy and she was sure that if the vamp knew what happened between the two, Izzy would definitely not be as friendly. ā€œThank You. That means a lot.ā€ Luna was torn between asking if the girl knew about Lexi’s new partner and not. It wasn’t her business after all, so why would she need to know about someone else’s love life. But Luna couldn’t help but be curious. The memory of those fluttering touches… Oh no no, that was inappropriate. Luna get a hold of yourself. There are surely other fish in the sea… right? Though if she were being honest it was more as if she were a skunk that people avoided.

ā€œ I quite like your French. I could do to learn some of that jackassery,ā€ she laughed. She was doing that a lot more lately. She had wondered if her face was permanently stuck on neutral, but it appears that the muscles in there worked sometimes. ā€œIf speaking your mind makes you a jackass then who wouldn’t want that.ā€ She picked at the fraying edges of her shift, the action calming in a way.

Luna leaned back on the couch and lifted her injured leg. She inspected the loosening bandages. She would need to fix that later. ā€œTrue, the world at large changes with the ebbs and flows of trends and tides. It would make sense that this is now our new normal. Though I would hope that one day the scars left behind aren’t as deep.ā€ Her gaze drifted out the window. Sunlight filtering through warming her skin where it cast its light. The sun had yet to reach its apex, the day had only just begun and yet it felt as if hours had passed since she had awoken. ā€œYeah, way too early. I wonder if I’m still too young to just find a coffin and sleep for an eternity like our forefathers. What world would I wake up to? I sort of hope it's like those futuristic movies with flying cars and maybe no traffic. No one likes traffic.ā€ Luna changed the subject. The whole lot of it had made her bone weary in a way that numbed all her senses. She needed a distraction from the mundane and gloom.

The monologue Izzy went on couldn’t help but make Luna laugh a full toothed smile. The censoring and subsequent uncensoring of herself was quite endearing. ā€œYou know, you don’t have to change the way you talk. It’s a part of you and I’d rather get to know you than the you that’s weary of how I would reactā€¦ā€ Her eyes widen, ā€œnot that I’m saying I have that much influence of course. That’s way too presumptuous.ā€ Luna waved her hands wildly in front of her.

Luna leaned forward curving overself before turning towards Izzy. Her hair curtained to one side hiding her face from everyone but the girl she was talking to. ā€œHey Izzy what if I choose to care about you?ā€ Luna laughed, her eyes in half moons glittering in the sunlight. ā€œThat’s weird to just say isn’t it? But you’re an ok person, so I think I'd like to, if you let me that isā€

The moment was ruined when heads turned as Luna’s stomach rumbled. She quickly crossed her arms over it hoping to muffle the offending noise. Her ear tinged pink, embarrassment colouring her face. ā€œSorry,ā€ she chuckled. ā€œI may have… foregone eating this weekend.

OOC: I spent way too long researching facts about aquatic life to make a good analogy only give up and go with skunks.

The ball bounced down the hall into a dim opening, Roxanne would take a few steps in, "They were sealed, seems the door was the trigger. Whoever did this understands a few basics, but using children's toys instead of something...lethal?" perhaps they meant no harm, or maybe it was an attempted prank of some student and there was really nothing here.

"No." she'd turn to grab an old torch along the crumbled stone to light it ablaze for her vision. She'd walk down the path after the ball Julian had tossed, certain there weren't more traps she was about to trigger, and light a few more torches along the way that she could see "The original security here was recently set off, within the year, the residual essence is still present."

The hall would open out into what appeared to be a large foyer, the stone roof having slits in them with traces of sunlight trying to come through, though lots of overgrowth above this structure has reduced most of the natural light intended for the space. There was a fire place ahead with a grandiose painting of a middle-aged man, a German Shepard and a younger man posed in elegant robes indicating their magical heritage. Before the fireplace was a sofa facing it and a chair off to the side, some end tables, all worn with age and a few webs that have made their home. The most notable feature of the living room display was the scorch marks along the sofa and a massive middle piece missing from it, obviously burned.

To the immediate left corner of the room was an old piano, likely out of tune and visually missing some keys. The walls of the room had some shelving scattered about with old books, some legible and some ready to disintegrate from neglect. To the left and right of the fireplace were two more hallways leading down its way, both hallways look like they were spray-painted with runic symbols and Latin words that reeked of magic or stupid teenager visually. Roxanne would move to the left hallway to rub her hands along the dry paint "Barbaric truly, they seem to be at a fifth grade reading level." there were three sizable scorch marks in the ceiling of this hallway like a trail, more old traps. Whoever was here tripped possibly every one of them, but they were also capable of setting up something.
