"I'll most certainly bear it in mind." he said. "I am always looking for taste testers, I love to cook and am much less enthused about eating all the time, bad stomach you understand." And with his rail thin physique it was easy to believe. "The meatballs I'm proud of, they are a recipe I've taken some time to master and some of the ingredients come from our own little island greenhouse, you can grow all sorts of things here in this climate." Pleased with his new acquaintance, Lawrence smiled at him. "What's your favourite food?"

It took Ever a moment to even notice Cee -- he only did because she was so expert at getting noticed -- but once he did he offered a flash of a bemused smile in reply, and a wave over Roland's hand. She could join them, if she preferred, but before she picked a direction he also pointed meaningfully toward where Zeke had set up.

"Ask? Oh, uh, not specifically, no." He seemed a little flustered now, as if not expecting her to ask so directly. Hands in his pockets, he could feel his shoulders hunching up around his ears and made a conscious effort to straighten up again. "We're supposed to be learning from you guys, though, right? Like the hunters in our divisions that have been here a long time?" He thought perhaps he might have heard that... Another new trainee had been waved over, and Henry offered her a small, friendly smile that cracked into a wide grin as Stormy dubbed them the Mist group. He would glance at the bags she was holding though as Story mentioned snacks. "What kind of bars?" He was pretty much always hungry. When Nellie came over as well he'd flash a smile to her, too. Yes! People who hung at the refreshments table are the best people and Joy's smile got bigger. "The island's still got some peeps off-island from what I know, some get sent to watch bases for months," she had a distant look and a shudder that suggested she would rather not be one of these off-island base watchers.
"You settling in well? Dorm room not ******** to hell and back?"

Soleil had, though she was still trying to puzzle out if she'd heard the odd looking Death hunter properly when a pair of arms had wrapped quite suddenly around her shoulders. The voice that sounded just beside her ear was a familiar one, and the elder of the twins' lips split into a wide grin as she tipped her head back to rest of Luna's shoulder for a a long moment. "Second born, second best," she'd purr back, voice light and teasing. It was the same old joke, but she never really meant it. She'd pat Luna's cheek as the other girl lay a kiss on her brow, then turned in her chair so she could draw up a leg, hands wrapping around her ankle, so she could see her sister. "It's about time though, seriously. You're late." Quote: Soleil is a brand new Mist trainee.

"Charmed," Roswell said, typing the last of the notes from the meeting on his phone. "It's a shame about the business card dry spell." He did, in fact, have several of Lysander's business cards and intended to give them out to exactly nobody here. He also doubted Lysander had listened to any of the instructions.
"Sir, would you like the recap now, or after the mingling's concluded?"

Terry felt like he should be protective and possessive of Kim but that was the reaction of a proactive love rival. As far as bland, beta-male shounen protags went, they would just sulk and act passive aggressive while hoping their love interest will pick up on it. The thing is, Terry always found these reactions annoying.
Since Kim's response was a clear rejection, he had no cause for concern. When she began to sing though, Terry suggested "Let's go sit down." before he lightly nudged her towards some available seats.
"Pardon," he said in his usual monotone, "Are you saving these seats for anyone?" he asked the red-haired trainee.Quote: Terry is a Y1 Life hunter

"Mixed bag," Stormy told Henry, leaving the bag on the desk before her so she could have her hands free. "Like for Halloween!"
Very little made Stormy genuinely smile, but seeing more and more trainees coming to her, Mist designed coats fluttering with their movements, touched her more than most things could. She wanted so badly to initiate a group hug, but several looked like they would run away for one reason or another if she tried. For now, she beamed. This beam continued even as she shook October's shoulder to wake him up.
"Hello, hello." She took her chair and stood on it to better see them all and vice versa, being only about 5'3" herself. She sounded the way a fresh teddy bear felt. "My name is Stormy, if you couldn't hear me earlier. Please feel free to take some of the candy. I realize the refreshments are kinda bland." She gestured at the bag before her.
She opened her mouth to speak again but noticed a few faces in the crowd. Caroline and Abbi both relieved and bright looks followed by a wave (for Caroline especially, there was an air of look, look what I'm doing!), while Cami, who she didn't know so well, simply got a wave as well. Stormy then turned back to her group.
"Sorry. So, I know that was a lot of information you guys got just now, so it's okay if you're still lost. I'll be staying here for a while even after orientation to talk but, um, if you have any questions, please let me know! Being a Mist can be very difficult since you're supposed to keep up with all the divisions, but that means we get to know more than some hunter do about what's going on with everyone."

"Hmm?" Peyton looked up again. "Oh, yeah. I mean, You've been off base, right? Looks like wherever you were agreed with you." She followed the line of his sight to Cee, gave a small huff under her breath that might have been amusement, and then looked towards where he'd pointed. "Are you glad to be back?" Now she was definitely smiling. And then grinning, as Roland came over to join them. A hand came up to rest on the teen's shoulder as he introduced himself to the tall Life hunter beside her. "Ever's mostly harmless," she assured him, then grinned as she add to it. "Mostly. The comment on the junior trainees had Peyton glancing out into the crowd again, picking out the small handful of younger teens in attendance. "Probably. I mean you guys knew all this at one point in time, but it all got wiped away. A refresher is a good thing." Quote: Peyton is a full sun hunter with a specialization in combat training. "That's the way," Nora commended Han with a grin of her own, apparently not disturbed by how close he was. "You're now in for life. Might as well go boldly, eh?" She gestured at his hair. "Like the color choice."
She then watched as Oz continued to go through the list--gods, there were a lot of them this time. This was going to be a show. "I'd be prepared regardless," Nora said lightly, committed to her teasing to the end. Who knew, maybe her gamble would pay off; she always did like rolling with it. "I've been here long enough to know that anything can happen at any given time. Turning into animals, becoming snowmen, forgetting everything you've ever known, switching genders...So, when you get a warning like this?" She jutted her chin out at the Death hunter's list. "I'd be grateful."

Months!? Eww! Her nose scrunched up in disgust at the mere thought of being stuck at a base somewhere, just sitting there. Behind mounds and mounds of papers... UGH! "Man, that sound like crap." She gave a quick shake of her head before unwrapping a piece of candy and stuffing it underneath her mask to her mouth. "If you enjoy the 'basement of a wasteland' sort of aesthetic, it's perfect. But hey, beats livin' in a dumpster or somethin' worse, yeah? " She could hear the long winded sigh from her weapon companion once again and her smile only widened. "Name's Sonja." The candy rolls around in her mouth and the only real indication of the broad smile was her eyes closing for a moment.

She gave them all a look. Very rambunctious indeed. "Feel free to ask specific Life questions later," she nodded at Dean. To Nash she said, "I'm Sherry." She gave them all another look. Was she ever that young and bushy-tailed? "Ok, I'm going to go make some rounds, you guys.... have fun." Sherry turned to find the girl who'd called to her. "Life Labs," she said to Kammy though it seemed someone with more knowledge had already stepped up. PLAID GROUP AND FRIENDS Sorry if I missed you ahhh ilu all you rowdy kids

Cami was here for many reasons but one of them had to do with the bag slung over her shoulder, a bag she upended with her single free hand onto the nearest available surface. Pamphlets, some crumpled, some pristine, spilled onto the table. Some of the information was out of date but some of it would always be relevant. Some of it had been presented already by the various speakers. Some of it was deemed 'common sense' but...wasn't. Not really. Not in her (very recently limited) experience.
Both her and her mother were pretending like everything was alright, like they hadn't wanted to go back into that welcoming Cage, and orientation was a good place to do that.
Not letting go of Caroline's hand for a moment she waved at Stormy and looked up at her guardian. "What first?"

Zeke had also noticed the petite bundle of trouble in dangerous heels blocking the door way, and as Ever pointed him out, Zeke flashed a smile before mouthing a teasing ' oh no'. Though he was fairly relieved to see her. It'd been a long time, and he hadn't the slightest where she'd disappeared to. "Oh!" Fredrick glanced up in surprise and then straightened in his seat as he realized he really was being spoken to. No more time for second guessing, then, he supposed. He turned to make sure sure his things weren't in their way, remembered immediately that he didn't have enough things to even be in their way, and then looked back up at Terry and Kim again.
"No, not at all. Please go ahead!" He gave them both a second to sit down if they were going to before sticking out his hand. "I'm Fredrick. Death Division." Might as well get used to adding that into his view of himself. "Are you two new as well?"
