I want to help with some of the other people's questions first...

"Itadekimasu" means "Thanks for the food" and it is customary to say this just before eating.

"You do, don't you?" would be "Anata shimasu, ne?" You are correct that "ne" means "don't you/isn't it."

"Kawaii" means cute and "kowai" means scary... so be VERY careful how you pronounce it. Or you could use them together as in... "Chuki- ha kawaii to kowai desu ne?" (Chucky is cute and scary, isn't he?)

Here are my favorite words.

"Taberaremasu" cuz it's fun to say. It means "can eat" as in "Wasabi wo taberaremasu." (I can eat Wasabi) And the opposite of that is "taberaremasen" as in "Basashi wo taberaremasen yo!" (I can not eat horse meat!)

"kakko ii"which is the equivalent of the english word "cool." Often used with "ne." anata ha nihongo wo wakarimasu ka? kakko ii ne! (You understand Japanese?? Cool, isn't it!) The literal translation sounds stupid in english though... as it literally translates to "moderately good."

"suki" (pronounced "ski") "Suki" means "like" and I use this word a lot! ("suki" ha "Like" to yu imi desu. soshite, watashi ha kono kotoba ga tsukaemasu yo!)

"takusan" ("taaak-san") "Takusan" means "a lot" and is another word I use a lot. ("Takusan" ha "a lot" to yu imi desu. soshite wo kono kotoba ga takusan tsukaemasu.)

I like the word "inki" for brooding, moody, sullen... it's also easy for my to remember... like goth peebles have inky black clothes. ^^; Yeah I'm pathetic- y'know- I used to use "orange juice" to remember katakana no O, even though the character looks nothing like orange juice... it just stuck in my head for some reason.

It strikes me that this is a great place to study vocabulary! ^^ heart

I use a lot of mneumonics as well (when you use an image to remember something). Here are some that I made up and maybe it can help others remember the words, too...

hoshii desu (hoooo-she desss) = I want
I remember this word by thinking of a little girl yelling at her mom to get a horse "I want a hoshii I want a hoshii!" except horsy is slurred into "hoshii"

motte imasu (moh-teh eee-mosss) = I have
Do you know of Mott's applesauce? It's a common brand of applesauce in the US. So, I always think "I have Mott's apple sauce..." which reminds me of motte imasu

kaimasu (kaeee mosss)= buy / urimasu (oooreee moss)
This one I remember because kaimasu has the word "I" in it... and I always buy stuff... and urimasu looks like it starts with "you"... and I sell stuff to you. so... I buy, you sell. watashi ha kaimasu, anata ha urimasu.

and no... sorry... those aren't my favorite words. I DO have a new favorite word though...

shitte imasu (shittyyy moss) = know
This one is funny as hell 'cuz of how it sounds in english as you can see from my pronunciation. The first time I heard this word I nearly fell off my chair laughing. Shitty moss, huh? No, I don't know shitty moss. ie, watashi ha daiben koke wo shitte imasen.

does anyone know what Doki means? In this one song I know the person says it like this:
S.U.K.I doki doki love
Some of you might recognize the song as the ending theme from Popotan. they also say it as:
Doki doki suru koto mada mada shiritai wa
They say it alot in the song and I've never know what it meant. Though it is one of my favorite words. Some more are:
Amaya=night rain (it is used for a name but I love it.
Sutoroberi=strawberry (I love saying it. It is even in the title of the manga I'm drawing)
Doshite=why (me and my other japanese loving friends at school will say that over and over at lunch like the seagulls in finding nemo. It sounds so funny)
Nani=what (we will also say this over and over again)
