The mage huffed as she pushed herself up with her staff. Sibelle hovered by the two empyreans with her magic and continued up the stairs. "Even the launcher I've met wasn't this mean. . . ."
Ibsen thought nothing of the comment as he continued the trek up. Granted that empyreans has long limbs, the travel was short and they finally were at the platform where the main dragonoid head resided. "Last one. Do you want to make a contest out of this to get moving faster?"

Verla responded by snorting and raising her guns. She still didn't want to be considered a damn Lawn Chair...she was prepared for anything...but she lowered her hand and looked over at him, "You know what? Sure, why not"

"You have a 5 second headstart. Go," Ibsen drew his revolvers out from their holsters and checked them. "Sibelle, you can sit this one out."
The mage nodded, "Right. . . ."

Verla charged forward, her eyes sharp as she went in for battle, "Alright!"

5 . . . . He loaded his rounds into the chambers.4 . . . . He checked his grenades to make sure they were alright.3 . . . . The ranger blew out a puff of smoke as he watched the battle unfold. Studying the monsters as Verla took them down.2 . . . . He braced himself to fight.1 . . . . Any time now. It would be all over. . .0 The ranger took off at break neck speed. He ran past the student and planted his hands down to the floor for a rising windmill in the middle of the second mob of the young drakes. He twisted his body upright into a mach kick for one of the dragonoids that charged him. Ibsen opened fire from his revolvers to shove back some of the others that came back after. Once far enough, he brought in a gattling gun to finish the set off.More dragonoids came in to close the distance as the empyreans took down their brethren.

Verla watched dumb founded as her teacher had just defeated every one of the drakes she was after and went on to the dragonoids, " What the hell just happened?"

Back on the West Cost Aittus was waiting for the others to come to, sleeping soundly in the bed still nursing the wounds that he was dealt during the battle.

Sibelle picked her figurative jaw off the floor. "Are. . . Are. . Rangers supposed to be that. . . Fast?"
Ibsen still danced through the dragonoids with a hail of bullets and fast footwork. Several cracks of bones could be heard from his kicks. From the way he was still moving, it wasn't his legs that were broken. Every time he kicked, he reloaded. When he finished his part, he opened fire and repeated the cycle. Of course, every now and then he would pin a dragonoid to the ground and opened fire at it with one of his revolvers.
Eventually, the only one left was the big blue boss dragonoid himself. The creature was seething with fury. "How dare you invade our home?" It snarled.
"Hey, Verla. . . You want it?" Ibsen finally asked.

There was a knock on the door.
"You still awake in there?" A voice asked from the other side.

"Yeah, they are." When she heard Ibsen's offer though, she was all over it. She raised her guns and prepared for battle. showing just as much foot work and gun skill as her teacher (But a little less skilled in the same sense).

The ebony haired mechanic sat up and looked over at the door, "Yeah, I'm up." He replied.

Eventually the dragonoid was defeated by the student ranger.
"Not bad. . . At least I know what to do with you now," Ibsen holstered his revolvers. He looked to Verla, "A bit of trouble with a few things but you have the basics down at the very least."

The female mechanic opened the door, "Nice going, launching our slayer friend out the tower." She had a small amused look on her face.

Verla looked at her teacher with a smile, "Alright. So long as I have that much right now."

Aittus chuckled, embarrassed, "Yeah, didn't expect the blast to be that bad either. . ." he sighed, "maybe I should change some things in the systems...." He paused to think deeply about it.

Ibsen nodded, "Let's go back down. Pretty sure Sibelle is about to pass out." The ranger headed back towards the mage, "Ready to get out of here?"
"Yeah. . . ." She pushed herself back onto her feet, using her staff as a support. "Let's go."

"Systems? You strapped grenades onto land runners that was over charged by a ghost. That's a far cry from electronic system alterations if you ask me," Jocasta looked at him.

Verla gave a nod, "Alright, let's get going then"

He laughed "Good point! Maybe I should see how effective it is without the additions!" He started plotting, something he did often in the Royal Guard, "That was something I've been wanting to do for a long time~ I'm so glad that I finally got to do it...but there was a more explosive out come than I thought..."

Ibsen followed the mage down the long stairs of the sky tower. "And to think. . . We'll be going up and down these stairs for a while."
"Are you saying that other dungeon fighters go up here too?" Sibelle asked as she floated down.
"Every day. . . Some of them have to go higher than where we just were. All the way up to Castellan's Chamber," Ibsen answered.
"You've been up there before?"
"Several times. Have to go up there again for another job run that church girl is making me do."

"Well, yes. . Just tweak the AI for the land runners a bit while you're at it. Brushing up on robotics is a good thing to invest in, in my personal opinion." Jocasta smiled.
