okay. .. what do people think about the gay rights problem?
Is there a problem? I'm not very well informed on the gay scene lol. lol
-ahem- But seriously, I've got nothing against gay people, they're cool in my book. 3nodding

are u kidding?!!!! their rights are diminishing daily.. so many states are outlawing gay marriage which poses many problems... if htey want to get married they can not.. and if htey want a child and they addopt only one gets custody, not both like a regular 'married' couple... also many get life insurance from their spouse when a gay couple can not get married their spouse do not recieve the life insurance that regualr couples could recive.. how is that fair?
how is that not a problem!!!!
Ahh I didn't know about that, I only know about what's happening in britain really. I heard that recently the Royal Navy has allowed gay marriages and gay relationships between naval officers. So it's not all bad... although the gays do seem to have it hard in america, probably due to Bush and his christian roots.

Oooh, proper topics.

Abortion - pro-choice, I think. Putting a child up for adoption is a lot more emotionally challenging than aborting it. Also.. a government shouldn't be able to dictate what people can and cannot do to their own bodies.

Gay marriage - well, civil partnerships are legal in the UK now.. 3nodding not sure about America..

..thing is, I've always thought that certain people//states in the US are slightly.. backwards. Like the bible belt states which ban abortion or rule that intelligent design has to be taught in science classes, etc.

gays... i dont discriminate them... although the bible said that it is wrong..
some of them are actually really nice people.. and surprisingly, sometimes their relationship are actually more beautiful compared to girl x guy r/ship..

i think it's alright with me as long as they maintain a healthy relationship...
not the ugly side where you see in those dirty scary places and those kind of dark movies... so yeah =)

i believe it is right, that they should be allowed to love whom they want. but i thinkit is wrong how the goverment is dictating love like love is somthing you can control. one can not control who they love/like

Let see I'm pro-gay rights, neutral on gay marriage. It would seem like common sense that homosexuals should be given equal rights rather than be restricted.. Indeed religion and American culture being too uptight are reasons we're having issues.. Along with people being unable to really think for themselves and falling for certain propogandas.

"intelligent design" rofl All hail the good old bible belt!
Thank goodness for groups like ACLU.
I wonder how biology class is like in the bible belt... Several states skip teaching evolution in biology. Thought I really don't see the reason to, if they really have that strong of a faith, then there isn't a problem with them doubting what they believe. It's such an irrational fear.. While the "intelligent design" sounds like an attempt to force a religion on someone.

I agree with you DASG. I support giving Gays and Lesbians equal civil rights as non-homosexuals, but I don't think it's neccessary to allow them the sanctity of marriage; after all, there's hardly any difference between marriage and a de-facto relationship apart from being blessed by the church.
As for abortion well I support legalizing it, but certainly not the ability for woman to instantly at will just by eating a tablet; as what's happened in Australia with the RU486 pill.

As for Intelligent design... rofl mrgreen I laugh at that as well. I guess that those classes they teacht that the Earth was literally made in 6 days and has existed literally for 6000 years? rofl

Who said I was against gays having such rights? There's always a way of allowing Gays to have access to all the rights that married couples have, except for a few ones such as IVF. Apart from that, Gays should be able to get rights over children, health insurance and the ability to make wills, agree to a financial contract etc.
If giving them such rights cannot be done without allowing them to marry, then so be it. But there is one right I don't think Gays and Lesbians should have: the right to acess the eggs/sperm of male/female donors.

And why's that? There's nothing wrong with having gay parents. Although coming from a straight family, I don't know the hardships a child with gay parents may suffer, but I doubt it affects them in a very negative way.

I said nothing about not letting homsexuals raise children, just that I think the whole sanctity of sperm and egg cells shouldn't be violated so easily by Gays and Lesbians. After all, if Lesbians can have anonymous male sperm implated into their bodies or Gays can allow their sperm to inseminate a surrogate mother, then we would be tearing apart the last boundaries of civil and religious morality.

Children of Gay or Lesbian parents should have a right to know who their biological mother/fathers are once they grow up, and so the Government must keep a tight control on how Gays and Lesbians can access IVF or donor implants. If they aren't able to, then we might be looking at a world where a lot of children grow up not knowing what the word 'mum' or 'dad' means. ninja

But what's so bad about having two mums or two dads? The children would just be more open minded towards sexuality I think, although I doubt it would turn the whole world gay, if that's what you're trying to say.
And I thought that these days anybody could trace their biological parents. So I don't see the problem in tracing the sperm donor or surrogate mother, they were the ones who chose to donate in the first place, so why would they be ashamed to have an anonymous child raised by homosexuals? At the end of the day all they'd care about is that they were able to help those who were unable to naturally conceive.
