Yokozuki Nekkyo

------Sanbantai Taichou

It's a good thing he didn't pull the secret string

-----Which reveals a secret compartment Containing one

----------Embarrassing picture of sponge bob at the Christmas party.

---- The feeling of a job well done was burdening Yokozuki, and had been doing such all night, having little to no rest, he tossed and turned in his bed, his eyes fluttering open every so often, a broken sleep at best. The thought of helping others never did sit well with him, but going against orders may have been a bad idea for him, without hesitation he did so, and it had been a long and tidious job, traveling all over the globe, finding him and her of Seireitei, informing them to lay low and not take any action whatsoever, though, Yokozuki took some rather unnecessary force when dealing with them, to him, this made the job more tolerable, but not by much. As he awoke, he rubbed his eyes, they were blood shot beyond belief, even he himself, once getting to the bathroom, was a bit shocked. "I suppose last night really was as bad as I feel this morning." He rested his head against the aged mirror, putting his hand at the top, and letting it slide down. "I'm tired, yet here I am, wide awake as can be, why am I tortured so." After quickly making himself feel more human, a slap of water, and a brush of the teeth, he ventured into the kitchen and began to make some Jasmine tea, it always seemed to help put him in his normal mood, which was by far a good one. He grabbed a somewhat clean cup, as the water finally came to a boil, he poured the hot water into the cup, steam rose off of it, he burnt himself once as he lifted the pot, not paying any mind. He placed the tea bag into the cup and set a small plate over it to let the tea set. While he waited, he went to his bed and threw on a small blue sweater, there was no need to dress according to rank around here, he was already wearing a pair of black pajama bottoms which he had gotten himself sometime earlier and a tea-shirt, black in color, but also had a red rose sewn in on the front. He didn't really like the apparel, but sadly, it was al he could afford. Now covered, he went back to his tea, he lifted the plate and took a long exhausting sniff of his tea. It put him in a small state of calm. Taking the tea, adding some sugar to sweeten it, and after grabbing his Zanpakutou, he left the apartment innards for outside, he needed some fresh air, to which he was hoping would at least soothe his obvious case of insomnia. He left the apartment building completely, and left outside into its below courtyard. He sipped his tea whilst looking at the bright blue sky over head, the clouds being giant puffy white masses, he often found them to be a very great source of relaxation, but not today. "So it seems we are just about at it, we are coming to the eclipse of this war, how melodramatic." He took a long swig of his tea, he could feel his unease slowly melting away with the hot beverage. He sat then on the lawn, his tea held close between his crossed legs, he continued to stare into the mesmerizing sky, he seemed to be in a trance. "Well, whatever the outcome." He took his finally taste of the delicious Jasmine tea, placing his cup beside him and resting his Zanapkutou in a slanted position against his right shoulder. "Are we going to be ready for this? Tankesshouyoku?" Yokozuki addressed nothing but his sword. "Of course, asking such a question is showing you are having severe doubts, I never thought I'd see the day." Yokozuki closed his eyes, around him a bright field appeared around him, he could then see his Zanapkutou, nothing more than a oval shape of light, it was Tankesshouyoku alright. "I don't have doubt, don't insult me, I want to make sure you are ready, we aren't exactly going against any normal opponent you know, this battle could be our last.""Then so be it, but I'll of had to suffer a great deal of humility in my defeat knowing I died next to such a imbecile." Tankesshouyoku laughed softly at her comment, Yokozuki, not to amused said nothing. "This isn't something to by joking about, we have expectations on us, as a captain we-" "Don't recite anything to me, if I recall correctly, the only one of us with any sense of leadership or duty was I, with you out gallivanting around without a care about life itself, I'm the one that had to snap you back into reality constantly, I'm more than aware of what is expected." Yokozuki left his mental communications with his sword, or rather, he was forced to leave. "Same old you, hey Tankesshouyoku?" Yokozuki said patting his sword gently. "Just make sure you don't die, I'd like to survive if that's alright with you." With that, the two ceased their communications. "I suppose I should prepare myself." He laid Tankesshouyoku down in front of him and flopped back, placing his hands behind his head in order to remain comfortable. "You're all I got, I wouldn't let yea die, stupid." He said before falling asleep.

Yokozuki awoke only half our later, he noticed that he had knocked his cup over, a small amount of dirt now lay inside. He picked it up, along with this sword, stretching. He flicked his neck from side to side, a small cracking noise could be heard. "Wow, that was painful." Now holding his neck, he was a little concerned, maybe that wasn't the best place to fall asleep he began to think, but no matter. He slowly made his way back into the apartment building, climbing the stairs back up to his room, he opened the door, shutting it quietly behind him, he wasn't sure if Hideki was present here or not, he didn't think it about too much. He placed the cup in the sink, his fatigue was getting to him. He dropped his hand along his forehead to his chin, making his face look long and distorted for a moment. "What to do, what to do." He walked to his bed, propping his sword against a wall, he sat at the edge. "I'm going to be in no condition to fight ever if I continue to feel this bad." Yokozuki was at a loss of what to do, he got up and left the apartment again. "Some training might be good for me, or at least, some sort of physical activity." Yokozuki left the apartment again, once again grabbing his moody sword, he sped down the stairs and back outside. Returning to where he was on the lawn, he began to preform some rather flash shunpo's, followed by doing a few aerial combat maneuverer's with his sword, a few slashes and cuts. He then left the apartment building, using Shunpo, he decided to do a race around a few city blocks. Returning some 20 mins later, he landed atop the roof of the apartment building, with a clenched fist, he pounded his back, he felt stiff and he knew in order to get into the swing of battle he needed to be able to relax a bit more. "At this rate I wont stand a chance." He became extremely annoyed. "I wonder if that Hei has something that might be able to help me with insomnia and fatigue, I couldn't see how he doesn't have something, that man's always cooking up something." Yokozuki wasn't found of encounters with Hei, they always seemed to butt heads, but at this point, he was willing to try anything. "I suppose you have to enter awkward situations to get something done." Yokozuki leaped off the roof, gently falling to the ground, he re-entered the apartment buildings, heading for Hei's residence. "I sure hope this time can be just a 'Thanks, good-day' type encounters, no smart a** comments from him." Yokozuki had hope but he wouldn't bet his life on the thought. Once reaching Hei's door, he gave a knock, gently however, he was aware of what Hei had on his hands, he didn't want to wake any 'Sleepers' inside, the knock was soft enough not to if that was the case, though he would then be unsure if Hei would know he was there, then again, Hei was an expert at sniffing him out, no trouble there.

Akane Itsuki, Third Seat of Division Three

Riku Ryuu of the Black Mist Mountains

Akane sets the book down, realizing Tadashi has left the apartment in which they share. He stands and drags a dining room chair to a window and sits in it crosslegged. He sets his ancient looking blade across his lap. Akane draws the blade and looks it over; old, seemingly dull-bladed, and scratched with indents. He replaces it in to the bamboo and rope sheath. Akane closes his eyes, knowing that battle was on the way. He takes off his glasses; and began to wonder if anyone had realized his secret yet. Akane lifted a remote he keeps at the window sill, turning on some tranquil music. The sounds would remind one of the forests.

As if going through a wormhole, he would appear upon a mountainous region, with a scattered forest. He opens his eyes and looks around his inside world; the world in which his spirit dwells. He hears a noise and quickly jumps away. A large rock that appears to be a hammer falls upon the spot he had awoken at. Akane raises his head to look as the beast stares down at him, ”Feisty today, aren’t we Riku?” The spirit brings its arm back and walks to Akane. He stops and stares now at the distant mountains and mist. Riku looks to him, ”You seem uneasy.. you moved slowly.. you could’ve died.” Akane chuckles and pats the leg of the stone-like being. He sits down and beast falls back with a resounding echo. Akane looks to Riku, ”Ya’know, I have been thinkin’..” Riku laughs, ”That’s not good..” Akane sighs and shakes his head. He stares off at the mountains, ”You’re right, it isn’t, but I am afraid for Suzume Yuuki.” Riku shakes his what-seems-to-be furry head. Riku looks down to Akane, ”You cannot be scared of what is not likely to be done. She is a rather good fighter.. Suzu will protect herself, and will try-” Riku stopped and nods his head. ”I see now.. you are afraid she will try to protect you and be hurt? I see.. It is a possibility, sadly. You must tell her to not step in to a battle that you have started; tell her to only move if her life does not come in to danger.” Akane sighs and nods, ”That’s the thing.. I have; but I know she won’t listen. She feels that what happened to be me so long ago was her fault. She blames herself… for what happened to me.. For that fact that I am blind, now.”

Riku stands and looks to Akane, ”Stand.. Stand and we will train.” Akane nods and stands. He draws his blade and Riku brings a fist forward. Akane dashes forward and meets the first by blocking with his blade. Riku’s power pushes Akane back across the ground, digging him in to the rock and grinding the bottom of his sandals. Riku brings his hammer around and Akane jumps, landing just as Riku pulls his hammer back to his side. Akane runs forward, Riku sending another fist down at him, and Akane jumps on to his arm. He grabs on to the hair as Riku slams his fist in to the side of the mountain. Akane jumps up and begins to climb up Riku. He holds on as Riku thrashes about, ramming in to the mountainsides. Akane nearly falls but grabs on to a piece of rock that Riku is built with. He regains himself and pulls his body over the plate of rock. He climbs to Riku’s back and runs up towards his head, seeing the beast backing towards a large cliff. Riku falls back and Akane falls towards the ground with him. Akane pulls his sword back, and just as the sword would strike Riku, Akane awakens as he stares out the window. Akane smiles, ”And check..” He knows the fall would not kill a beast like Riku, mostly with how Riku himself was part of the mountains and how short the fall truly was. Akane breathes in deepily and breathes out, ”And so it begins.. the day we go warring.”

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxSUZUME CHIYOKO

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxLoneliness hit me suddenly,
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxbut it’s only t h e n that I realized,
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxafter all that I have ever DREAMED of,
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxI really don’t like F I G H T I N G

As a ray of light filtered through the tiny crack in the curtains and fell upon her sleeping form, she merely grumbled loudly, before turning over, away from the light. Having covered her head with her pillow in an attempt to block out the light, she blearily opened one of her eyes. For a second, she had felt as if she was back in Seireitei and her own quarters back there, but she knew deep down, that it was still just a dream. They were still in the Human World, but today was the day. Today was the day that they were going to reclaim everything and defeat those that had previously forced them to retreat. After all, most of the previous issues were solved – their Captain Commander had successfully given birth and was training as hard as the rest of them and the problem with the power gap had been dramatically solved by creating Vizards. Several of them had been made – Tetsunosuke, Nu, Hibiki and Hideki – all of them Captains and most likely, powerful Captains now that the task had been finished. She hadn’t seen much of their new power, since she had been busy training herself as well, but she didn’t doubt their potential, especially seeing the strength of Hei. To tell the truth, she had wondered why all of the Captains hadn’t been turned, but then again, with so many Vizards running around, there could be even more danger that the inner Hollow might attempt to take over and if enough of them were defeated by their inner Hollow, it was likely that the Gotei 13 might fall before even confronting their enemies. She had asked her sister once, exactly why she didn’t want to even try to become a Vizard, but her sister had merely shook her head, saying that a Vizard healer would not be able to help in much and she would rather not risk everything for that.

Dragging herself to a sitting position on the bed, she ruffled her already-messy hair before stretching her arms and letting out a huge yawn. There was still time before everything was needed to be ready, but she did not want to be late on a day like this. Mixed feelings rippled through her – anticipation, happiness and nervousness were the ones that she had identified so far. However, she couldn’t shake off this foreboding feeling that was nagging her at the back of her mind. She had pushed it away several times but it came back to haunt her within the next day or so, and thus, she had given up trying to stop it. With this, she was becoming a worrier just like her sister. “Come on, girl, cheer up, today’s meant to be a good day so stop moping like this. When did sulking ever do anybody any good?” she told herself in a firm voice, making sure not to be louder than a whisper as she did not want to wake the person she was sharing her apartment with, Hibiki-Taichō. She had been rather surprised at the particular living arrangements, especially since she had initially thought that the Captains would be together, and then the lower seats would bunk together. Ah well. It didn’t make much of a difference to her, as she didn’t have any special preference to be with any person. While there were friendly acquaintances around, she couldn’t say that she had any really good friends at all, although she had had one before. Her throat seized up at that thought and she winced. She had been attempting to avoid the subject as much as she could, but it hadn’t worked as well as she hoped. There were too many times that she had been reminded of Nanashi and the only thing she could do to stop herself from stressing out and having a nervous panic attack was to tell herself that he was most likely back where he had come from and he was with his friends and family.

It took her several minutes of chaos as she sorted out and changed into her clothes for the day – a reasonable skirt, a t-shirt, and leggings as she did not want to swelter in the heat, nor freeze in the cold if either one came today – as well as tiptoeing out of her room into the dining room and grabbing a piece of toast so that she would not be hungry. Ravenously chomping down on the piece of toast, she held a grip on it with her teeth as she hurried back to her room in a bid to gather her other necessary equipment. She slung her zanpakuto onto her shoulder, securing it as best as she could, before heading out of the apartment this time. At this moment, she just wanted some time outside to be able to think about everything happening and what has happened, so that she would be able to clear her mind before battle. As she well knew, distractions could be costly in battle and on a day like this, when they were facing the original invaders, she did not want to risk anything again, like last time. If she had to meet the same enemy as last time, there was no holding back and thinking of the time that he saved her life. She had gotten stronger, or at least, that was what she hoped and she was fervently hoping that the Sephira were not stronger either. However, she doubted that they would have just been lazing around the entire period they were confined to Seireitei, so that was unlikely. That was just great, considering their power the last time that they had met on the battlefield. Thinking hard to herself, which was rather rare but reflected the importance of the current day, she only recognized Tadashi when he was a short distance away from herself. Automatically her hand leapt to flatten her hair, which was slightly dishevelled as she had not brushed it this morning, before she called out in a moderate voice, “Hey, Tadashi, good morning and where are you going?”

⋆⋆⋆ HAKASE xELISIA
yonbantaixTAICHO

Elisia had been about to try something a little more likely to wake up her sleeping wife than stroking hair, even considering playing a prank on her wife like painting her nails a strange green colour for a lark as she was becoming a little bored at this point in time since she had managed to complete everything that she wanted for the morning, when she was suddenly dragged over Tsukiko by the other girl. Emitting a squeak of surprise, she stifled it hurriedly, not wanting to wake anyone nearby, although she doubted that they could hear her. After all, they would have complained by now, right? It was the 11th Division Captain as well the fourth seat of Squad Three, both of whom, she did not know very well, that were next-door and it would be extremely awkward if they managed to hear anything strange. Switching her mind back to the reality of now, she coquettishly and firmly fixated her gaze with her wife. As she very well knew, Tsukiko was in a way, expressing her own role of being in charge at the time. Her wife’s sleepy face made her smile as she remarked in a playful voice, “Well, well, looks like you’re finally up from her long sleep. Then again, younger children need their sleep, eh?” Whenever Tsukiko was in the lead, Elisia always felt like teasing the other girl about the fact that the other girl was still quite a lot younger than her if they counted the years that one lived in. Of course, her wife, with the new body transplants, still resembled an age that was a few years in front of herself. A shadow appeared across her face for the briefest second as she remembered the fact that she was going to die eventually and her wife was going to live forever, but her beaming smile was soon back before long as she did not want to waste any more time worrying. “Anyway, Tsuki, you--” her voice was muffled and she cut it off as her wife continued with her morning greeting, entirely surprising her. This time, unlike before, there was only the faintest blush on her face as she willingly accepted them all, giggling at several intervals as pleasure coursed up her body. Her embarrassment, luckily for both her and her wife, had been subsiding with practice and hopefully, there would come one day that she wouldn’t feel at all self-conscious by anything. Then again, that was unlikely for a shy girl like Elisia.

Tearing her eyes from the lower region of her wife which was rather visible at the moment, she stared upwards at her wife with the same curious eyes, greedily drinking in the sight of her face. However, she couldn’t help herself from pouting as Tsukiko started to talk about her sleeping and eating habits, but she soon wiped that off her face. She was the adult in the situation here and now she was acting like a spoilt child. “It’s alright, I slept early last night, so I managed to get enough decent sleep and don’t worry about me being vegan.” she responded, before scrunching her nose up, while laughing softly, “It’s not that terrible once one eats it quite a bit and you get used to it after a while. Anyhow, it’s healthier, you know. Lose some more carbs that way.” She patted her stomach to emphasize her point, before beaming up at her wife again, who seemed to be admiring the necklace that she had given her. Her smile stretched wider as she tilted her head to one side, saying with an impish grin, “I think it came from one of those pretty jewellery stores around and no, today’s not a special occasion at all. But then again, does a girl really need a special occasion to treat her wife?” It was about time that she gave her wife something in return for everything that her wife’s family had done, especially footing the massive bill for their wedding, and she had no family, or at least, family that she would really associate with, to ask for favours. Anyway, it looked very pretty on her wife and she was fortunate that she had had the right mindset and gone to buy it without any second thoughts.

Slightly thrown off by her wife’s squeal of delight and her hug, she raised an eyebrow, turning her body so that she could see her wife properly as she slowly stretched her stiff muscles up. In a lazy and sluggish movement, she moved into a sitting position on the bed, before reaching for her hair clip, which had been a wedding present from Nu and was, as a result, greatly treasured by Elisia herself, on the bedside table. Pinning it up in a half-bun with the hair clip, she then seized her new pouch – the old one had unfortunately fallen into tatters from her overuse of it – on the table as well. As her wife changed into new clothes and brushed her hair, Elisia herself alternated between glancing at the view of a, at times, partly-naked wife and sorting out the items in her pouch. Tapping an erratic rhythm with her fingers on the soft bed, she made a mental reminder that she was running low on several supplies, especially bandages and pain pills. Since she had no inclination to move at the very moment, she’d need to do that later. Glancing at her wife once more, a frown appeared on her face as she noted the particular clothes that her wife had chosen. The jeans shorts were a little shorter and a little too low-cut for her preference, but she bit her tongue, not wanting to say anything. Then again, what was she saying? She was going utterly mad and that was not something that she would need to needlessly worry about. In any case, she knew that Tsukiko loved her and would not do anything to harm her. Holding back any possessive thoughts she might have regarding her wife’s body and the clothes that she had chosen, she instead focused on other things that came to mind. She changed her smile into a comical, lopsided grin as she realized the fact that they were wearing both a pair of jeans shorts and a top and thus, matched in the cutest way that she could imagine.

She had bent her head down low again to re-check her medical supplies, brushing her hair back from her face with her free hand, when her wife spoke about something else. Hearing Tsukiko’s words and especially the two words ‘you guys’, she froze mid-way, turning her confused eyes to her wife. She blinked several times as she processed the information she had just been presented with. Pulling herself off the bed, she miscalculated the distance and landed on a clumsy mess on the ground, before forcing herself upwards in an upright position whilst leaning against the bed with her arms crossed. While she had thought that she had known everything was necessary for the meantime, it was apparently not so, as judging by the statement, Tsukiko was omitting herself from those that were joining the war. Of course, it could be a simple blunder and mistake on her part with all her worrying rising up again, since Tsukiko did not seem to be too perturbed or nervous about saying this at all. It was almost as if it was a casual thing thrown suddenly in – nothing too big in case. However, she did want to clarify whatever was going on and thus, she slowly lowered herself down onto the bed just in case she might need it in the next few minutes as a result of Tsukiko’s answer. Crossing and then uncrossing her legs as she felt like she was unable to settle on either, she lifted her head, watching her wife with a now-nervous gaze as she asked in an inquisitive voice, trying to keep any panic from entering her voice, “What exactly, my dear, do you mean by ‘you guys’? Aren’t you participating in the battle today? Tsuki, is there something you’re telling me?” Her fears were irrational, she assured herself, and anyway, if her wife did not participate, it was not the end of the world. It was about time that she gained independence on her own and by any chance, it was likely that they would end up not seeing each other as they would have to deal with different problems at hand. However, with the lack of her wife even nearby, she felt worried, even more anxious than usual, as if something bad was definitely about to happen that she had no control over as she realized that she was still more dependent on her wife than she would have liked. As she nervously waited for her wife’s response, she subconsciously twisted the wedding ring around her finger, something she often did when she felt herself being uneasy about an insignificant matter such as this.

Tadashi Sakamoto

9th Division Lieutenant

Tadashi was sulking at the moment, deep in thought as he walked down the halls with no particular pattern in mind. It wasn't a new thing for the Lieutenant to be in his contemplative (emo) state, but it seemed that his depression was growing the longer his life dragged on without a need to hold Tenma in hand. He used to think that holding Tenma and fighting for his life was what made him miserable, but it turned out he wasn't even close. Nowadays, he kept his demeanor in check by meditating for long periods inside of his inner world. He would simply enter a voluntary trance whenever he cast his eyes upon the moonlit lake among the macabre and broken images of the realm.

Of course, it was no secret to Akane what Tadashi did with his time, but the Third Seat probably didn't realize specifically why Tadashi lost himself in his inner world just to keep his mind off of his longing for battle. Most everyone probably thought of him as the lonely depressed Shinigami in the background, and the image was fine with Tadashi in the sense that he didn't particularly like to stand out more than he preferred soothing his mind's sometimes primal cravings.

So it was in this time that the blob of solid black colors known as Tadashi Sakamoto heard his voice being called out by Suzume. He instantly brightened his face up, straightened his back, and turned around. "Ah, Suzume, good morning. I'm not really heading anywhere particular, just stretching my legs..." he finished, slightly trying and somewhat failing to appear chipper. With most people, he tended to put on a polite mask and speak appropriately. If it was a person of the same rank, he'd refer to them by first name if they do so to him first. If it was a Captain, he'd give due respect and refer to them by their titles. And, really, he didn't interact much with any other type of person other than the Third Seat that was his roommate.

With Suzume, however, it was a bit different. Ever since the battle that had ended up exiling them to the Human World, his mind had automatically associated her with sadness. This was due to the fact that the first day they'd actually interacted, it ended with him sensing some forlorn hints of regret and sadness from her. Tadashi supposed that it had been the friend that she'd lost in the battle - and really, apart from all the lower seats that had probably followed, the only casualties from the incident at the wedding reception were Captain Kyoshiro, Lieutenant Girard, and the missing but presumed dead Lieutenant Nanashi, so it was likely one of them. He hadn't inquired who at the time or that if she was really okay since he didn't see it as his place to do so, but despite that he still associated her with that feeling. As a result, he subconsciously (and sometimes knowingly) tried to act a bit more bright and civil when speaking with her.

[I swear, no more jokes about my posts in the Summer Party Thread. You know who you are. I already comment on my own character's emo anyway, so no need to elaborate on the failness of my posts in comparison to your walls of text.]

Suzume Yuuki, 4th Seat - Division Three

Jinkouteki of the Painted Night Sky

Suzume moved slowly about the apartment, not wanting to wake the Eleventh Division's captain. She places a poptart in a toaster and pressed the lever down. The poptarts begin to be heated and Suzume goes to a painter's stand. Suzume raises her brush, dabbing it in some paint, and continues with her art. She had been painting most of the morning, and her hands were showing all the colors she had used so far. While concentrating on the piece of art, the poptarts spring up; Suzume would give a small eep and drop her paint equipment, covering her mouth quick in shock. She runs to her roommate's room and peeks in, making sure she didn't wake her. She walks back to the poptarts and takes them out, sighing and puting them on a plate. She blows on her hands from the heat.

Suzume walks out of her room, coming just as Tadashi and Suzume had come across each other. Suzume waves to them, "Mornin'~" She quickens her pace, disappearing in to Tadashi and Akane's room. Suzume walks to Akane, who meets her with a smile. She sits and hands him a poptart, of which Akane quickly begins nibbling on. Suzume giggles, "You won' believe what I did just a few minutes ago.. When I was making these poptarts -- well, toasting them in the toaster -- I was also painting. So, I got ta concentrating, and forgot about the poptarts. Then, the poptarts sprung up, and I fling all my art stuff in the air, nearly ruining the painting I was doing of the cityscape." She smiles and giggles while she listens to Akane chuckle at the story. She puts on a 'pouty-face' as Akane responds back with "I'm not that surprised, to be honest..". She eats on her poptart, and listens to the tranquil music. Akane speaks her nickname, "Suzu", so she looks to him quickly.

She listens as he explains to her the need of not interfering in a fight that he is in. She nods where she must, and listens silently to the rest. Akane stands and she feels his lips on her head, and a smile spreads over her face. Suzume stares out the window as Akane leaves to his bedroom, likely to prepare for what is coming. She looks down, still with a smile. "I'll be with you through it all.. Even if saving you sends me to Heaven," she speaks aloud to the silence. Jinkouteki chuckles, "Your admiration for the boy is like that of a young woman's fantasy.." Suzume scowls as her Zanpakuto's spirit finishes her sentence, "You.. you are.. Just shut up, Jin.." Her Zanpakuto's spirit giggles and sighs. "You know.. it's rather strange you've never made a move on the boy, Suzu. You should do it, before someone else sees what he is.. There's not many out there like him," the spirit finishes and dissipates in to her shattered sky world. Suzume sighs, "I know, Jin.. I know.. It's just too hard, sometimes." She finishes her poptart and stares out at the city once more.

Luckily for her, Hei was incredibly considerate of her, so there were few times that she was woken up by their daughter. Of course she loved Senka, but Yuki missing sleep was bad for everyone, and they had realized this after Tsukiko had been born and determined a simple, yet effective system that worked well for them; she took care of her a lot during the day, and Hei handled things at night more often than not. Of course, like any baby, there were times when daddy just didn't cut it, so mommy had to be woken up, and she was fine with that since it did not happen very often. All in all, she would always be there for her, she just preferred it to be during the day rather than the night. That night had been a seamless one with no interruptions, which bode very well for just about everyone, considering she was not delightful to be around when she missed sleep. Yuki's dreams were not so event-filled, actually she had not dreamt at all that night, so between when she had fallen asleep in Hei's arms up to when she was woken up by a weight on her stomach and lips on her forehead; it was a seemingly timeless gap to her. Her eyes fluttered open to see Hei leaning over her, and a quick glance down confirmed what she had already known; that Senka had been put on her stomach and was now smacking her to wake up. "Aww." Smiling softly at this, Yuki took a few seconds to free her arm from the bed sheet prison and then moved her hand to Senka's head to give her the patch of blonde hair a rub before taking her tiny hand into her own. Looking back up, she shook her head at Hei's breastfeeding joke, then rolled her eyes before picking Senka up and sitting up so that she could pull Hei over and kiss him good morning. "Morning baby. Thank you for letting me sleep."

Looking down at the little girl in her lap, Yuki smiled as she let Senka gently topple onto her back and then put her index fingers into both of Senka's hands, watching as she wrapped her tiny fingers around them. "And how is mommy's little girl today? Sounds like you've been awake for a while already." Inciting a giggle from Senka, she chuckled in response and for a minute or two, she baby-talked the infant while wiggling her arms back and forth and waited until Hei had left before taking about ten or so minutes to breast feed her. When she was done with this, Yuki made the effort to get out of bed, which was a little tricky when half-awake and holding a baby, but she managed to succeed in getting up without hurting either of them. Now with Senka cradled in her arms, Yuki gently rocked her back and forth before setting her down in her crib, made their bed, then she disappeared into the bathroom and tossed her sleepwear, a shirt of Hei's and pair of underwear, into the dirty clothes hamper. She then stepped into the shower, letting the warm water wash away any remaining tiredness as it bounced off or clung to her curves and dripped onto the ceramic floor below. Once she was done with her shower, she hopped out and dried off, put her hair up in a towel, then wrapped another around her chest and headed towards their closet to change into leisure clothes; a pair of jeans and a cardigan as it was somewhat cold outside, though it was comfortably warm in the building, which was a very good thing. Once she was dressed up, she plucked Senka from her crib and set the smiling baby on the in the middle of the bed, taking great care to keep an eye on her at all times while she changed her own clothes. Senka liked their bed quite a bit and Yuki had yet to figure out why, but she nonetheless allowed the baby to crawl around on it when the chance arose, but always stayed with reach, which was obviously a longer distance for her given she could be by Senka's side in a literal instant, even if across the room, which was a good thing as it gave her a little more freedom when watching her.

As Senka delightfully crawled around on the bed, taking a special interest in the blanket for reasons unknown to anyone but her, Yuki slipped onto the bathroom and stood in front of the sink which was just past the door, allowing her to easily keep an eye on Senka while standing there. Freeing her damp, black hair from the towel around her head, Yuki flipped her hair forward and shook her head from side to side to loosen it up a little, then flipped it back and tugged at it with her fingers to prepare it for a brush, which came quickly after. Attacking her stringy, wet hair with a brush, Yuki eventually got it decent enough so that she could blow dry it and be on her merry way. She leaned back once again to see that Senka had taken to sitting on her knees, then fall onto her stomach and just lie on the bed like that while staring at her mother with a look of wonderment spread across her face. "You're silly." Shaking her head at her daughter's antics, Yuki picked up the hair dryer and began drying her hair, stopping once it was completely dry, then arranged it how she wanted it with the brush once more, then set it on the counter with a tak. While staring at her reflection in the mirror a few strands of her hair fell in her eyes, which she blew away quickly before exhaling a small sigh as she wasn't entirely happy with her hair today. Shrugging, he walked back out into the bed room and slid onto the bed next to Senka, aligning her own face with Senka's and keeping a half foot of space between them as she ran a hand across her back, using her nails to softly tickle her, which caused the infant to yawn in response. Senka was an avid lover of back rubs, and usually one could calm her down pretty quickly and send her off to sleep, which was obviously a valuable option for any parent that they used often when she got cranky. However, Yuki's goal was not to put Senka to sleep this time around, but instead to just display a little affection for her daughter, and because of this, she only rubbed her back for a few seconds before lightly rubbing her head, then picked her up and turned onto her back and held Senka up in the air while she giggled. "Did my little girl sleep well for the few hours she did sleep? You don't look tired, which means Daddy got a little sleep too last night. That's good~ Well, it's a little cold outside, so let's get some socks for those little feet of yours and a sweater for your arms~" With a sing-song tone ending her conversation with Senka, she moved her around in the air to simulate flight, then did one final swoop to the side which she used her momentum to hop off the side of the bed, then carried Senka into the closet and grabbed some more clothes for her then plopped her on the bed, forced her wiggling feet into a pair of pink socks, then managed to get her to stop moving around so she could get her arms and head into a sweatshirt.

Once Senka was fully dressed, Yuki carted the girl out of their room and whisked herself up next to Hei and got right beside him, then leaned to the side and gave him a quick peck on the cheek before taking Senka's arm flapping the distracted infants arm, giving the obviously fake illusion that Senka was waving goodbye to her father. "I'm taking Senka to the lobby, so let me know when breakfast is ready. Bye~" With this, she vanished out the front door and made it to the lobby in time to see Yokozuki disappear into the door for the stairwell. Seating herself on the couch that was readily available for her, she set Senka down on the floor, but on her feet, not her rear, and held her left hand while Senka found her balance and then released her as she began to slowly walk around on the seating area, occasionally using the furniture to hold herself up when she felt herself getting ready to fall. After a few moments of casual wandering around, Senka made it back to her mother and clung to her leg until she was picked up and set in Yuki's lap. While silently amusing Senka by tickling her stomach or playing with her hands, Yuki allowed the warmth of the fire in the fireplace to wash over her as she allowed her thoughts to travel towards the events to follow. It was certainly going to be a crutch to not have Tsukiko participating in the war, but she had made a very solid argument for staying with Senka; there was no one else capable of taking of care of her properly. Letting out a low sigh, Yuki glanced towards the front door to see Tadashi and Suzume outside doing whatever it was amused those kids these days, though she had doubts that Tadashi was having fun. She was starting to wonder if he ever had any type of fun, as she knew he was apparently annoyed by there being a baby in the apartment complex. Frowning at them, she turned away and dropped her focus to the baby in her lap and kissed the top of her head. "You're going to grow up strong like your daddy, aren't you? I hope so baby girl, I hope so..." Letting her voice trail off, she leaned her head back and shut her eyes, though she certainly did not let herself fall asleep, or stop making sure Senka stayed in place.

博士月子
Jūnibantai Fukutaichō

While Elisia touted her health food and the fact that she had gotten to sleep before her, especially after calling her a younger kid, Tsukiko rolled her eyes in response to this and stuck out her tongue. She wanted to remind her that she didn't need sleep at all and in return make fun of her for being a real person, but she held her tongue in that respect since she saw no point. She was also going to make the point that poorly planned vegan diets did not actually make the consumer healthier as they lacked the proper nutrients that a normal diet would, but again she decided against it and silently brushed her hair. After turning around, Tsukiko turned up the corner of her mouth in a look of slight disappointment at Elisia's reaction to her statement, as she had hoped that Elisia had become less worrisome about everything, but given her confused expression and the fact that she fell of the bed, Tsukiko decided that she was certainly not over the fact. Tsukiko had moved forward without out moving her feet, ready to go to Elisia's aide if she should need it, but since she got up right after and sat on the edge of the bed, Tsukiko simple relaxed and eased herself back up against the dresser and folded her arms beneath her breasts while putting on her previous expression. After Elisia had fumbled with her legs and asked her question, Tsukiko glanced up to the ceiling and exhaled a short, quick breath that caused her bangs to flail madly in her face before settling down in her eyes. She was not annoyed with Elisia; that was far from the truth as she loved her more than anything, but she was a little disappointed that Elisia had not managed to come out of her shell and learn not to worry so much over the past year and half of their marriage. Tsukiko was glad enough that Elisia had stopped becoming so embarrassed to be seen naked, but this was still a slight problem for Tsukiko, not because she hated her for it, but because she knew that it wasn't healthy for Elisia.

For this reason, she had been trying to coax her into a sense of security for a long time now, while being very patient about it which came naturally with Elisia. Conceding to her statement, Tsukiko flicked her gaze back to Elisia and nodded while taking notice of what she was doing to her ring; Tsukiko's was behind her on the dresser as she had yet to put it on yet this morning. "That's right, I will not be coming with you. I'm sorry for not telling you earlier, but I didn't want to worry you during what will probably be the last week of our stay. There's no one else here that can take care of Senka during the fight and we can't very well bring a baby to the fight. I'm sorry, but I just can't go. Being by your side is important to me, and so is protecting our home, but my little sister is also really important to me. And... I can't ignore her at all." Giving her a small smile, she slowly unfurled her arms and took a few steps forward and kneeled in front of her, taking her hand into her own in such a way that pressed Elisia's finger against the band of her ring to stop her from moving it anymore. "It's okay, I promise. Daddy will be there, and so will Mommy. You guys will win without me, I can guarantee that. Please stop worrying, babe, it's bad for your health. Me progressively altering my appearance to match yours will mean nothing if you die in a few years due to constant worrying. So please, just have faith in me. I'm not a kid anymore; I threw that side of me out a long time ago when it came to you. Okay? Now, I'm going to go cook you some real food and I want you to sit here and conserve your energy so you can go get 'em today. I care, so let me take care of you." Smiling softly, she released Elisia's hand and gave her a hug before standing up and slipping away into the kitchen where she proceeded to put uncooked biscuits on an oven tray and then loaded them into the oven to cook. After this, she prepared pancake batter, then cut up some sausage and cooked it while cooking the pancakes simultaneously.

Sure she cared and respected Elisia's opinions of food and the like, but she also simply had to be aggressive and demanding sometimes, and she would be damned if she let her wife step onto a battlefield without first having a solid meal. If it came to force-feeding her the food, she would happily do so, if only because she cared. As she finished up, she called out to Elisia to let her know that breakfast was ready. "Okay, breakfast is on the table, hon. Come on." Throwing a dishtowel onto the counter, she picked up a plate of three pancakes, and two biscuits with sausage wedged in the middle of both, and then set them down at Elisia's place at their table. "Eat." she said simply before whisking herself back into the kitchen and get the syrup and a knife and a fork for her, placing them at her place in the appropriate place. A glass of milk was quick to follow, and after all was said and done and everything was turned off, Tsukiko sat down with the side of her head in her hand and her elbow on the table, staring intently at Elisia to let her know she was damn serious about all of it. She would sit there and make sure she ate every bite, or else she would tickle her into submission and feed her herself.

Elisia let out a long sigh, frustrated mainly at herself and the fact that she couldn’t let go of the anxieties that she held for everything. If she did look upon the situation in a better light, that was one of her worries gone as it seemed that Tsukiko genuinely held affection for her baby sister, although that had been one of the lesser fears on her mind. Her thoughts had immediately jumped to the worse-case scenario, so this came as a partial relief that the reason was something like that. Then again, she should have known or at least, guessed by now as she knew that it would be literally impossible for Senka to come with them to the battleground. Of course, she had no doubt that Senka would be a skilled fighter in a few hundred or so years, if not younger, but for a child near a year old, that was too much. There was too much danger on the battlefield for those in the Gotei 13 themselves, let alone a little, basically defenceless child. One could try to hope that the enemy wouldn’t stoop down so low to kidnap and hurt a small baby, but she knew from experience, that it was unwise to hold such silly and foolish hopes as she did not doubt the Sephira’s drive to beat the Shinigami. “I understand, Tsuki, and don’t apologize. You need to look after your sister and that’s a valid reason for anyone. I’m sure that Senka will be grateful for the fact that she has such a loving big sister.” she altered her voice to sound as happy as she could, although she fell slightly flat of the cheerful tone that she had been aiming for. As her hand was grasped by another one, she hastily stopped the twisting of her wedding ring as she lifted her head to look upon the other girl yet again. The warmth of her hand made her instantly feel better and she even managed an actual, real half-smile now, instead of the usual fake smiles that she plastered on her face whenever she started worrying. It was still weird to her ears that Yuki was ‘Mommy’ and weirder still that the still-scary Hei featured as ‘Daddy’ in Tsukiko’s mind, but it was something that she did not comment on, as it was merely an unimportant and trivial, as well as being random, comment.

Seeing truth in Tsuki’s words, she inclined her head, her lower lip trembling. It touched her that her wife seemed to care about her and genuinely hold concern for her and it made her firmly tell herself that she would not worry as much, as she was not only affecting her own health, as she very well knew too many times over as a doctor, but those around her as well. “Alright…thank you for everything and…” she trailed off, unsure of how to exactly convey her thankfulness and appreciation without saying ‘thank you’ over and over again while listing everything that she was thankful for in the first place. Accepting Tsukiko’s embrace, she watched as the other girl slipped to the kitchen, apparently to fix her some ‘real food’. Well, vegan wasn’t that bad, but she did miss meat a little. A faint smile flickered through her face as she remembered of Tsukiko’s affection towards Senka. Unfortunately, Elisia herself had been not completely able to spend as much as she could with her now-dead younger sister, but hopefully, she would make that up with Suzume, even if the other girl was adopted and not a biological sister. Looking at the situation, she felt as if she had missed out on sisterly bonding and affection due to her own lack of love for her own family, but that would not happen again. No matter what, she was going to make sure that never happened again. Obviously some sisters found themselves absolutely detesting each other and hating everything about the other, but if she had even tried, something different might have been achieved. Realizing that she was falling back into her previous mood of dwelling on the past and her problems, she shook her head firmly, scolding herself, “Worry, worry, worry! Is that all you can do? For heaven’s sake, get a grip on yourself before you stress yourself out to your death!”

She clambered clumsily off the bed in the most unladylike and disorganized manner, before staggering on her way towards the chest of drawers. Pulling open one, she removed her long zanpakuto, before securing it on her left side. While she would look a little silly, carrying such a weapon in the Human World, she wasn’t intending on taking any risks or going out today, since there would be no time at all. Sliding a hand over the shiny surface of it, she patted it once more as a check that it was still there after all. It was still early and since she did not want to bother her wife’s preparations or whatever the other girl was doing, she arranged herself so that she was sitting in the lotus position on the floor. Her eyelids fluttered before shutting completely and putting her into a world of entire darkness. Inhaling and exhaling slowly, she concentrated on the sound and evenness of her breathing. Meditation was a technique she had heard of and knew the basics of, yet she had never attempted it before. Repeating the word ‘calm’ to herself over and over again, she felt a little silly about doing a thing like this as she had heard this was somewhat religious and she was definitely not a very religious person, but if it would alleviate her worries, she would try basically everything. Her sensitivity to her rising tension levels increased and she pushed them down gradually, letting the tranquil atmosphere wash over her, the silence only broken up by her periodical breathing. However, her focused attention was soon interrupted by her wife’s call that the breakfast was on the table. Half-opening her eyes, she let her breath out in one go, feeling much better and a little lighter than before. “Coming!” she called, jumping to her feet in a rush and moving to the kitchen at a steady pace.

The sight of the pile of pancakes and the two biscuits with sausage made her stop in her tracks and raise both eyebrows in surprise. It was much more than she would have bothered to cook for herself but since Tsukiko could, it seemed like it was a ‘why not?’ question to the other girl, especially since she apparently wanted Elisia herself to eat. Tentatively taking a seat in her usual place, she stared at the food for a while with curiosity, only half-aware of the syrup, the knife, the fork and the glass of milk that appeared next to her. She nervously shot a glance at her wife to see whether the other girl was entirely resolute about her eating all of this. As the other girl seemed to be completely intent on her eating, so much so that she could feel the other girl’s stare on her, the muscle in her cheek twitched as a substitute for a flinch, before she gingerly picked up the fork and knife, cutting herself a piece of the pancake and pouring the syrup onto it. As the deliciousness of the pancake hit her tastebuds, she found herself not as apprehensive about eating the food and devoured the food at top speed, while trying her best to remain polite and keep her table manners as best as she could. The second that she was finished, she glanced at her wife with thankfulness written in her eyes as she said simply, “Thank you for the food, my love,” before she gathered her plates – taking them to the kitchen to wash. As soon as these were cleaned, she popped back into the kitchen, tilting her head to one side as she put forth a possible thing to do next, “Since we’re about done here and we still have a little time left, do you want to see if we can find Senka as well as your parents? We might as well spend whatever time we have left with them.” If the other girl wanted to stay back, that was fine, but since Tsukiko was going to be babysitting Senka, they’d might as well get Senka settled before doing anything else.

"...allow me to show you a fate worse than death."

After receiving his good morning kiss from Yuki, Hei nodded and scratched the top of her head before disappearing into the kitchen and began to cook a meal for the two of them, most of which had consisted of miso soup, rice with nori, rice porridge, grilled fish, and raw eggs. He was more or less done by the time Yuki emerged from the bedroom, clean and ready for the day ahead with Senka in her arms, and he was going to tell her to go ahead and sit down at the table but she caught him off guard. Since Yuki seemed to have plans of her own, Hei accepted her kiss and Senka's wave goodbye without a hassle and let them be on their way. "I guess I could take a shower for myself then..." In the silence of the empty apartment, Hei wiped his hands on a dishtowel and started towards the bathroom while peeling off his shirt mid-stride.

The silence was short lived, however, as a resounding knock on the door disturbed the peace of the apartment, causing Hei to stop in his tracks as he dropped his shirt on the bathroom counter. His immediate thought was that Yuki had forgotten something, seeing as how she had not been gone that long, but by the time he had reached the door, he remembered that she would have just walked right in without knocking. With a sigh, he gripped the door handle, turned it, and pull the door to him, filling his line of sight with Yokozuki's ugly mug. "The hell does this guy want..." As his content expression that he used around Yuki and Tsukiko had faded away, he thought this while staring down at Yokozuki with an indifferent look plastered on his face. "What?" Hardly in the mood to intellectually bring Yokozuki to an end, he merely, and quite bluntly asked him his question while he kept his hand on the handle, prepared to slam the door in his face if he wasn't answered in ten seconds, or if his request was stupid.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxSUZUME CHIYOKO

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxLoneliness hit me suddenly,
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxbut it’s only t h e n that I realized,
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxafter all that I have ever DREAMED of,
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxI really don’t like F I G H T I N G

Suzume blinked briefly at the other girl, who waved to her before entering into the room that Tadashi had just come out. To tell the truth, she did not really know the ‘other Suzume’, which she often referred to her as so that she wouldn’t get herself confused with the other girl with the same name as her own, but it seemed like the other girl was close to Akane. Perhaps it was childhood friends or something like that, but it wasn’t her business to pry, especially since it was a person that she barely knew. It might be time that she made friends or attempted to be friendly, but unfortunately she found herself using most of her spare time to catch up with the level of the current Lieutenants as she was relatively, if one put it that way, new. Smiling at Tadashi, she wondered whether he was always this happy or it was just a thing he did around her, since that was the only way she had seen him. Of course, while it was somewhat cheerful, it felt a little like it was forced, as if he was putting on a façade for one reason or another. Everybody seemed to be troubled by something nowadays, even in the Human World, and those that were lucky enough to not be worried about anything were extremely fortunate to be able to miss out on that. When she had first looked at him, he seemed to be in deep thought about something and it seemed like he was one of those affected by something.

Although she had been a rather strong feminist and rather prejudiced towards males, she had managed to control that well enough so that no sign of it showed on her face and it was merely another little voice in her head. Then again, it was those males that thought they should dominate, that really irked her enough to fly into a rage of fit. However, looking at Tadashi and seeing that he seemed a little depressed about one thing or another, she decided that she’d might as well inquire about what was wrong. Perhaps he might have lost someone as well in the battle? Maybe he might be fed up with the living style that they were forced to live in, because they were in the Human World, although it wasn’t something that she thought that one should really complain about. Tilting her head to one side, she asked in a worried voice, “Are you alright? You seemed to be troubled by something, is there anything I can do to help at all?”

Tadashi Sakamoto

9th Division Lieutenant

Tadashi was a bit surprised by Suzume's response. It was actually a touch ironic, the case being that the reason he was acting strange around her (and even he knew that to be true) was that he had associated her with sadness because of what she had been (or still was) troubled about.

"Oh...no, nothing's wrong. Thanks, though, I appreciate the concern," he said, making the extra effort to smile assuringly. Truth be told, he was stressed out and longed for some much needed release before he really started to go insane. Of course, his usual stance was not very different from how he was just acting when he was making like a wraith and silently walking down the halls, but it was what was going on in Tadashi's mind that differed from the norm.

He decided to get the subject off of him. "So...we're off to battle soon, aren't we?"

Masashi, Lee, Gobantai Taichō

"Hold it together. Birds of a feather. Nothing but lies and crooked wings. I have the answer. Spreading the cancer. You are the faith inside me. No, Don't, leave me to die here. Help me survive here, alone. Don't Remember! Remember! Put me to sleep, Evil Angel. Open your wings, Evil Angel. I'm a believer. Nothing could be worse. All these imaginary friends. Hiding betrayal. Driving the nail. Hoping to find a savior. No, don't, leave me to die here. Help me survive here, alone. Don't Surrender! Surrender! Put me to sleep, Evil Angel. Open your wings, Evil Angel. Fly over me, Evil Angel. Why can't I breathe, Evil Angel?"

Lee rolled his eyes at her telling him his cooking didn't pass for breakfast since in all honesty he didn't see the problem with it. Was it better than this food? No not at all but was it inedible? No and Lee was used to eating bland things and therefore found it to be good enough to live off of. Another yawn escaped his lips as he was still waking up and would be for at least a few more minutes. Switching to the toast to take a couple of bites Lee ate in silence while he waited for Nu to say more. Nu's slightly improved mood was obvious as he had taken the food from her. Rubbing his neck for a moment to work the slight stiffness he was feeling in it out Lee took a sideways glance at Nu for a moment. Waiting for her reply to his questions. After a few minutes she parted her sweet lips to speak. He was pleased to hear that her training was going fine and that the training grounds was proving beneficial to others and not just him. Then again he hadn't expected anything less. At the question of how his own training was going Lee raised an eyebrow in response. He hadn't failed to notice her around sometimes when he was down there training with Nami and therefore he was wondering why she choose to ask the question. Did she think he hadn't noticed?

Either way Lee turned back to his meal remaining silent for a few more moments before he cleared his throat.
"It is going well Mitsuru. I think you already knew that though didn't you?" Not sparing her a glance as he continued eating the question wasn't asked with even a hint of anger to it. Therefore it would be more than safe to assume he was not upset with the action. Some people might be upset that their training was being watched however Lee had never really cared. It wasn't as if it really represented anything to want to keep hidden. After all it wasn't like her hollow would take over anytime soon and use knowledge of his battle habits against him. At her next question Lee remained silent contemplating his answer to that question. Was he ready? In all honesty Lee didn't want to see the state Soul Society had been left in with their absence. Though he was certainly ready. Finishing the rest of the meal quickly and drinking the juice down he stood up and brought his dishes to the sink setting them inside. "Yes I am ready Mitsuru. Thought I imagine we all are in our own ways. If you are intending to fight the same Sephira be careful. I probably won't join you in your assault against him. I am sure you have your own ways of dealing with him." In all honesty Lee was not sure he wanted to be near Nu if she brought out her mask to aid her in battle. He wasn't completely comfortable with seeing that side of her.

Looking at Nu for a moment or two Lee averted his gaze to the door curious to see if she had anything else to inquire about. Then she voiced the question he had been fearing would come up and kept his eyes away from her face. Even if he had feared and known it would come up Lee was still unsure how to answer the question at the moment. Moving in front of her Lee placed his hands on both her shoulders to ensure she was looking at him.
"I am still unsure. You're both beautiful in strong in your own ways. We have much history together. However for a long time in that history we did not have what could really be considered a relationship outside work. I do want you to know that I am still thinking about it. The choice is not as simple or easy as it should be though. I love you yet I also love Eriko. The very choice will hurt the one I don't choose. And I am not ready to do that just yet. Sorry." The simple touch brought about a familiar feeling of warmth from touching her. Releasing his hold Lee lingered for a moment or two longer before heading to the door. The air held an awkwardness to it now that he didn't want to be in before their invasion. Moving to the door Lee opened it before stopping in the doorway for a moment. Looking as if he wanted to say something else Lee searched for the words before simply moving out the door and closing it.

Running a hand through his long hair Lee moved to the roof for a breath of fresh air. It was odd really. This is where everything had happened that day so long ago. Looking to the side towards the area where Ciel had been laid down that day lee could still remember it like it was yesterday. He hadn't forgotten the sacrifice the man had made to ensure that some others survived. It served as a reminder in Lee's mind about what Shinigami could accomplish even if of a lower rank. Slipping his hands into the pockets of his pants Lee moved to the edge looking down and breathing the fresh air. It wouldn't be a really long time now. The short amount of time made even more apparent by how long they had waited. The wait would only last a little longer now. Still Lee wondered how Eriko was doing and if she was doing well. Perhaps he would check on her after he left from up here?

User ImageIt had been bothering her since she got the news of when their reclaim would take place. No, it had been on her mind before that. Eriko stood with her legs spread apart; her right hand pulled back with the end of the makeshift bow within its clutches while the left arm waited for release from the constant pressure. She had held the same position for a few minutes despite Cho’s persistent coaxing to let it go already. That was the problem. Today, they would be returning home – to take back their home. She could not let it go. Would she still be of such little use to her comrades as she had been in the last battle? Eriko pulled even more, causing the poor bowstring to whine under the seemingly endless torment. The sudden noise caught her off-guard, allowing the wooden arrow to be free of her amateur bow. Within seconds, the miniature spear lodged its sharpened tip into one of the trees that Eriko had been using for archery practice since the first night of the Gotei 13’s stay in the Human World. For the millionth time, the bark was struck on point at the designated mark for a successfully hit target. However, as much as this should have made Eriko happy about her prowess, it would prove to be nothing special in her eyes unless it had passed through an enemy’s chest, taking his or her heart along for the ride. Silently, she pulled another one from her substitute quiver, lined it up and waited for her nerves to calm down. This is where she did most of her training, not bothering to venture unnecessarily into the training grounds that Lee had constructed via Kido. This time, the arrow slipped, grazed its intended tree before marking the one behind that.

“Damn it.” Eriko watched as the earthen spike wiggled with unstable vibrations before becoming silent. It was not the first time that she had missed on a account of thinking about him at that precise moment but that did not make it any easier. Like the coward that she was deep down, the Jubantai-Taicho had made an actual effort to avoid the Captain of the Gobantai, not that he made it difficult with his ridiculously taxing schedule. Still lost her thoughts, Eriko approached the previously scarred tree trunks and pulled the assailants out, sticking them into pouch made of intertwined grasses found in that part of the forest, near the central pond.

“You need to control your emotions. We’ve been at this for more than two years in this world, more than one outside of it. He will make his decision when the time is right. What you have to be concerned about it increasing your speed.” The speaker was a youthful, white-haired girl up in a nearby oak, watching the activities intently. When her master turned to look up at her, she continued, “You are growing but you have yet to trust that you are.”

Eriko scoffed at the words and laid her grass bag to rest on the floor by a sitting rock that overlooked the glassy streaming water of the pond as it stretched itself to meet the needs of everyone around it. Cho had it wrong. It was not that she did not trust that she could pull her own weight in the battle to come. What was stumping her was the fact that she had not received the permission. Somewhere between loving Lee and wanting to redeem her status as a Shinigami Taicho, she had fallen into her old ways of waiting for acknowledgement or clearly expressed permission to execute certain tasks. It was driving her up a wall – an eagerness to serve. Who was she kidding? She could be Sotaicho and still not good enough for him or anyone for that matter. Taking a seat on the aforementioned rock, Eriko stared into the distance and took deep, soothing breaths. Maybe that is why she had been avoiding him as well as everyone else as much as was possible. She had become even more of an introvert, not chatting with anyone in particular more than was needed. Her hands found her knees as she had been sitting cross-legged and she continued to breathe at the constant pace. At that point in time in her darkened bedroom, her body was fixed in a similar position – a telltale that she had fallen asleep sitting upright on the bed with her back against the wall. Surely, she would be sore by the time that she parted ways with her Zanpakuto spirit and awoke in the small, lightly decorated space. Until that time came, however, she felt great physically but was an awful mess emotionally. Her eyes began to close down on themselves, leading her further into a state for relaxation hopefully. Blinded momentarily, the intensity of her four other senses increased largely so much so that at the last second, she bent over at the waist, dodging barely two gusts of winds that would have cleaved through her midsection like a knife on butter. She came to this conclusion after seeing the line of trees directly ahead of her fall successively, the tops alternating between the left and right sides on which to rest their leafy heads. “What the – ” She did not even have time to finish that question as another pair came at her again. Eriko rolled off the flat-surface rock, grabbing the twiggy arrows in the tumbling and used Shunpo to put some distance between herself and the spirit of her Zanpakuto. Apparently, while she had been trying to calm herself down even more, Cho had taken it upon herself to go into Bankai and attack wordlessly. “b***h.”

“Oh, come on, you can do better than that.” Cho grinned as her green eyes followed easily Akiyama’s series of Shunpo to distance themselves. She allowed it for a few minutes before it occurred to her that the younger was indeed running away from her attacks. “Akiyama, Tsubasa Sentou Ki: Toruneedo Sutoraiku ha Hidari!" Performing a standard straight punch while angled in the air, the sprite unleashed a miniature tornado with the intention of stopping the girl in her tracks so that they could engage in a real battle. Lately, it had become more about practice spars and archery. Once the winds left her body completely, she continued with the same angle but stopped as the dust rose up to meet her eyes. “Are we finished playing, Akiyama? You only have some hours left before we have to leave for home.” As the dust, dirt and commotion cleared, her ears picked up a distinctive negative response shouted back at her alongside a counter attack of Tsubasa Sentou Ki: Toruneedo Sutoraiku ha Hidari. At least, she was learning but she still was not where she wanted her to be. Cho took the force of the tornado head on, coughing up blood on impact but capturing the empowered winds in her own control. Eriko had yet to master this aspect of Tsubasa Sentou Ki and that knowledge was killing her on the inside. With a few more months in her time before the Sereitei Battle, she would have to train her master to her fullest capacity, even though the brown-haired girl was more than halfway there. Creating wind again, Cho formed a spherical shape around herself and pelted the ball, herself and all, towards Eriko, who had been running still. Distracted, the boulder-sized cannonball hit her from behind, causing the two females to collide into each other and end up in a pile amongst felled trees. Eriko, on top of Cho, pushed off the ground and steadied herself to her feet, helping the fellow girl up as well.

“You haven’t been this hard on me since we changed from Gureisu. What’s going on?” Her grey eyes searched the green ones of her lifetime companion.

“I’m having second thoughts,” Cho lied with a genuinely sad face, walking away from Eriko for the appropriate dramatic effect. “What if I had simply continued training you in the ways of Gureisu? Would now be any different? Would you actually be better with a easily comprehensive ability instead of Tsubasa Sentou Ki? It’s just something to think about, don’t you think?” She bit her lip, halted her footsteps and looked back at her.

An eye-twitch and Eriko had tackled Cho to the floor, straddling the girl at her waist and pinning her arms above her head. For a moment, their eyes locked and Cho was surprised to find that she could not make head or tails of what was going through Eriko’s head at that point in time. The entire forest grew quiet except for the passing sound of the river as it circulated itself. “I don’t want you to think that way. Do you hear me? I apologize for not being to your standards just yet but I am willing to put in the work if you are willing to teach me. You are my Spirit, Cho. If you lose hope in me, I have nothing left.” A gently breeze circled them lazily and Eriko let herself go in order to hug the female under her. Wetness touched the left shoulder of the jersey that she was wearing. Had she made the girl cry?

“Yes but it’s a good cry. I’m sorry.” Cho held on to her master for a few more minutes before using the breeze around them to elevate the taller girl off of her completely while jumping to her two own feet. “Okay, enough of that, let’s get started then. You know the basics. We know that; but the basics are just the foundation and frankly, you have not founded anything. Come on.” Currently, they were situated north of the pond and due to her previous attempts to get the ball rolling, it was more of a clearing with scattered uncut logs everywhere. Both of them were still in Bankai so without a word, she lifted herself in the bright, clear skies overhead and waited for Eriko to arrive on the same level that she was on.

Once they were facing each other, Eriko halted the use of her wings for the option of staying afloat via a platform of reishi under her feet. She was growing bored of this, the seemingly never-ending back and forth between her and Cho where her training was concerned. If it was some issue of the heart, they would be acting like sisters down by the pond and fighting over the sitting rock. That reminded her that the grass bag was still in her grasp. Unnaturally, it had not been scathed in the previous bout of turmoil but it was not surprising as Cho had explained its features to her within the first few weeks of being in the Human World. “I think that I should go,” she whispered, throwing the bag into the air, watching it tear itself apart into the wind. It was a trick that she was working on for the real arrows, bow and quiver that were situated by her matt for a bed.

Sensing the lack of interest as it emanated from the girl, Cho replied just as softly, “Give me a month. You’ve already been here for a straight five and that was two hours ago outside of here. In a month, I have to help you improve your use of Tsubasa Sentou Ki and move on from this depressing funk that you have going on. Remember Lee-kun does not want a slave, he wants a partner more than likely.”

Eriko nodded and called up a few whistles of breezes, adjusting to the feel of them around the limbs of her body. It had been a while since she used this form. Apart from her archery, they had been focusing on her hand-to-hand combat skills, honing them to the point of perfection. “Okay, let’s do this. We don’t have much time and I still have to wake up before Blake finds sleeping sitting up. I swear, he’s become more like an annoying older brother than anything else.” Her nose scrunched up playfully at the thought and her wings became animated with anticipation of being in full use again.

“Understood, Akiyama, I won’t let you down.” Cho lowered herself and so, they began.

[Time Skip – 3 months]

In her still dark bedroom, despite the clock flashing a solid 8:00 at her from across the confined space, Eriko stirred slightly. She did not make any sudden movements though, remembering how she had spent her night – a sitting statue of slumber. After five minutes, she allowed herself shift her legs out into an outstretched position and then five more before she stood up on the matt that she called a bed. Her love for scarce decoration had managed to follow her over to the World of the Living. Hence, her bed was a matt, she had one chest of drawers, a full-length mirror and a couple of mats for the unlikely chance that she had visitors. Shaking herself like a dog, Eriko yawned and stepped into the shower, undressing on the way there. While in the small cubicle, she managed to massage her still sore muscles as well as watch her hair. It had grown to a ridiculous length over the past few months, just brushing below waist level. Yeah, it was something else. Within twenty minutes, the young Taicho was bathed, dried and dressed in a long sleeve black shirt as well as lengthy khaki pants. Her brown locks were tied over themselves until a tight yet big bun was formed. She noted that she had not had breakfast as yet but that could be dealt with accordingly. There was still time. What she needed was air and she required it before Blake spotted her or even woke up for that matter. With slippers on her feet, Eriko passed through their common door before turning the corner and making her way up to the roof. She should be able to calm herself there and go over the last “three months” of her Inner World training session in relaxed detail. The thought made a smile tug at her lips but that was as far as it got when her grey eyes fell upon the figure that was already there. This could not be good but she pushed forward anyway.

Uneasily, she stepped closer and closer to him, coming from behind, until she was by his side, looking over the edge of the building as well. What should she say? What should she not say? They had not exactly been exchanging words as frequently as one would have hoped. Sadly, it felt like they were strangers all over again to her and if it was not for her haori, she would have been cowering like she had been when the Gobantai Fukutaicho badge adorned her upper arm or even worse, like his Third Seat. However, she was none of those things anymore. If anything, she was an equal in rank and had the skills to prove it even though one would not know from her lack of recent airtime. It was just so depressing to think about but obviously, she wanted this awkwardness to stop or she would have turned around at the earliest of opportunities. So, with a pronounced clearing of her throat, Eriko opened her mouth and asked the most basic of questions, the easiest one to come to mind, “How are you, today?” She did not ask about before because she did not desire to hear about how it was having Nu for a roommate and the like. Maybe later on but for now, she just wanted them to return to any form of normalcy. Then again, what if he had taken her presumed avoidance as a sign that she did not care or love him anymore? Eriko’s brow furrowed at the thought but she kept her head straight, not bothering with eye contact for the moment.

Suzume had been staring at Tadashi, her gaze completely straight-forward, yet full of genuine concern. However, his smile did manage to soothe any worries she had, but still, she felt as if he was keeping something from her. Then again, it was definitely not her place to dig too deep and if he wanted to talk to her, he would have said before. Biting her lip and holding her tongue back so that she would not say anything unnecessary, she quirked one eyebrow at his sudden change of topic as he raised the upcoming battle. Her hand automatically shifted onto her zanpakuto and she casually draped her hand there, as if reminding herself that she needed to be stronger on this day. The funny thing is she seemed to have managed to see more of her sister’s zanpakuto spirit than her own. Demian had been quiet nowadays, quieter than usual and even if she would never admit it in front of him, she missed him somewhat. Hearing stifled laughter echoing in her head, she rolled her eyes. Apparently, there was nothing wrong with Demian at all. Making a mental note to scold him about that later, she answered in a fluid voice, “Yes, we’re off to battle soon. Today, I believe, as long as everything goes alright. You ready for this battle to regain Seiretei?”
