mandarin it is for me... but i dont like the Beijing accent.. too much slurring and they lost the 'yin zhun'..
i think mandarin is a more useful language to learn however..
Cantonese, on the other hand, is good for watching hk shows.. domokun
i rather hear Cantonese with English subs than to hear mando dubbed..
but in r/l, i think mandarin sounds more polite and friendly to the ears..

i chose mandarin.. probably because i have more taiwanese friends compared to hongkie ones... sweatdrop
and i agree with souma-san about the mandarin whee

yks I'm a Cantonese but I can't speak it sweatdrop . Thanks to HK drama, I can understand it very well. The only problem is I don't know how to speak. I speak mandarin at home.

I like the way Cantonese sounds more than Mandarin. Also, a lot of movies I like are in Cantonese originally.
Too bad I'm like freakin' dysfunctional with my skillz.

i like canto better. i am biased.
personally i think mando sounds more rough/harsh because its all like sh & xi sounds but cantos all ...round like. in a way... cool
