I speak Mandarin, but I have many friends who are Cantonese.. and I must say, even if I try to be unbiased, that Mandarin as a language sounds.. nicer to my ears. It's more clear, I think, whereas Cantonese to me sounds a bit harsh.. like, for example, English compared to, say, German which is also quite a harsh sounding language..

mando just sounds wierd to me sweatdrop somebody said that mando is speaking canto with your tongue at the top of your mouth i haven't tried it yet cause i'm just too lazy to bother and to even care, but that's ok xd

I prefer Toisan Canto. It's very sing-song.
As opposed to Mando, which makes you use the back of your throat and toungue a lot. My Chen Taiji Grandmaster, Ren Guanyi, has a heavy Mando accent. It's very hard to understand him, but he has a great sense of humor!

I like both. Though I like Cantonese a lot more than Mandarin. But mandarin sounds like a very pretty dialect. I just don't see myself trying to get all the sounds correctly.
