Journal Entry
I have been thinking on what I talked about with Chath and I still find the idea of going around without my gloves as a strange one. After all my names even if I try to keep up with them seem to be dangerous. I know that my DNA is that of a predatory bird, that my nails... talons even they could be called would be used to catch food were I an actual owl but... still. I don't know. I have been testing the idea out when I am alone, taking off my gloves for short periods of times to see what its like without them. I kinda feel self conscious though, same way I feel when I dress up in uncomfortable clothing that is considered to be 'gender appropriate'.

Ligeia paused for a moment to look down at one of his bare hands, looking over his dark nails that were the same color as the talons on his feet and he gave his feet a flex before he set to fiddling with his pencil, chewing on the end of it in thought.

Journal Entry
We went out on our first date that was when I told him about why I wore gloves, only when I was forced to take them off because they got dirty. The date went... I want to say well but at the same time Chath got hurt, poor thing. I patched him up best that I could but between that and the fight that I ended up in with Ter and Zyanya it makes me wonder if I should look into some training in the way of first aid? It may be a good idea to learn it just in case especially since I am working with a dragon and around lots of other people who have dragons of their own, who knows if someone near to me or even I may get hurt.

Ligeia tapped his pencil against the journal page he was working on then gave a little sigh, he wasn't the best at fighting so being able to patch up those that did fight would be a helpful thing right? Thomas had once said that they weren't children anymore, they were soldiers in training and all soldiers needed a medic, "I want to be able to help." He murmured to nobody in particular though he got a crooning answer from Vorel who was lounging nearby.

The owl child slid off his seat with his journal and pencil, moving over to sit by Vorel and leaned against him, smiling, "I will do my best." He said, then set to writing again, mostly musings about the First Aid class, about if he should see about a class for dragon specific first aid, and what he thought that he should wear on his next date with Chath, along with anything else random that came to mind that he wanted to think harder on.

When he had a couple of pages filled he closed the book and let his eyes close, relaxing against Vorel, "Your comfortable." He said, giving a little giggle when Vorel nipped at him for the comment.

"Saying I am getting fat?" The Frost Dragon complained, making a face at him then grinned and tried to hold back a dragon version of a laugh.

"Naw, just comfy. Maybe cause you feel cool to the touch? The summer is far to warm, I can't wait for cooler weather." Best thing about being a Snowy Owl was the fact that no matter if it were winter or not he could wear whatever he wanted since the cold didn't effect him, the down side being the opposite, the heat got to him if he didn't stay cool. Made him love tank tops and shorts/skirts that much more.

"Can always go swimming." Vorel suggested, nothing better then soaking in nice cool water. Well nothing better then that aside from using his cold breath to make it that much cooler, even freezing some of the water so that there was ice floating around in the water.

Ligeia nodded, "That sounds like a nice idea." He said, hopping up to his feet then went to find something to swim in while Vorel got up, stretching out all over. He sat back on his haunches and waited patiently for the owl to get ready.

Magic Backlash

So this was what cold felt like? He'd never felt it before or at least not to to an extent where he could notice it. Ligeia was after all a one that spent his Winters running around in tank tops and shorts, the cold meant as much to him as it did to his dragon which was nothing. They were snow dwellers after all. He gave a sort of pained souned before he plopped down on the floor next to his bed and leaned forward in a protective sort of way over his hands. This wasn't how it was supposed to happen, all he'd wanted to do was to practice his magics now that he'd had a chance to do so. He figured that if he got more effiecient at them, was able to cast them more quickly, more easily then he would be ready for a stronger sort of spell the next time that he went to class. He just had the drive to get more knowlage when it came to his magics as he enjoyed them so much.

He dared to look down at his aching hands, watching as the muscles in them started to twitch a bit which only seemed to make them hurt worse. It wasn't right... he'd called his element the same as he had countless times before. He could do it now in such a way that he no longer had to call Wind and Water separately he could just call for Ice. His gaze had been drawn to watching the way it moved in his hands, shifting in such a way that it almost seemed to be a living creature in his hands. It was so beautiful, countless colors of blues and whites within it, to many to count. There was something odd though within the core of the element then, a shimmering that caught his attention before it sparked. A flash of brilliant blue later and his hands felt as if they had been frozen and the element had burst apart and vanished from his hands, the only sign of it left behind some small flakes of snow that fell around him and melted in the warm air.

"Ligeia?" Came the concerned voice of Vorel as he scooted closer to his owl to look him over. Sure he wasn't the brightest dragon in the world but that didn't mean that he couldn't tell when things were wrong. He could tell by the position he sat in and the look on his face that there was something most definately wrong, "Ligeia is ... hurting?" He asked, sniffing at him.

The owl gave him a gentle sort of smile, leaning forward to rest his head against that of his dragon, "I will be alright, the pain is passing now that it seems to be thawing." He said, in reference to his hands. He wanted to act strong so as not to worry his dragon any further, honestly though he was rather worried himself with everything that was happening. He didn't even want to consider the idea that he wasn't going to be able to be a mage, it was one of the things he most enjoyed but if he couldn't even control his own element...

"Ligeia... Are you sad?" He sounded even more concerned now, he didn't like the idea of his owl being sad.

"What will I do if I can't do the magic... I mean its not as if I am very good when it comes to fighting." That was putting it nicely, he was the worst at that and he was a light weight.

The frost dragon seemed to shrug his large shoulders before he smiled, "Then I will take care of you." He said simply, "As you have taken care of me." The dragon made it sound as if it were the most natural thing in the world. He didn't want anything to happen to his owl and if he couldn't defend himself then he would be Ligeia's sheild plain and simple. He loved his owl and wouldn't allow anyone to hurt him.

"I should be fine with some rest." He said, maybe this was just a lesson that he had to learn that one shouldn't chance casting when not at their best. He would try again in the morning when he was well rested.

"Love Ligeia." The Frost said, lifting his head to nibble playfully at Ligeia's hair giving it a little tug which drew the owl out of his thoughts, "Go, Sleep."

Ligeia gave a bit of a laugh, "Are you ordering me around Vorel?" He asked teasingly, pushing up to his feet.

The Frost gave him a nod of his head, he was very much telling the boy what he should do right now. He needed to rest and to not look so sad, he preferred his happy owl.

"Alright, I will get some sleep and I am sure things will look better in the morning." He said, carefully peeling off his gloves and tossed them aside. He was sure that they had helped, it would have been worse had his hands been without any protection at all from the icy cold of the spell. He looked them over before sitting on the bed. His hands were an angry red and they stung a bit, if they weren't looking better soon he would have them looked at but for now he was needed sleep.

Water Wars: Part 1

It wasn't that he was an oblvious person, normally he would have easily noticed the large gathering crowds and he would have been rather curious as to what was going on. Normally he would have followed after one of the groups to see what was up but today wasn't exactly a normal day for him was it? No, it was him getting out and about in an attempt to get out of the rut he'd fallen into. He gave a bit of a smile as Vorel touched down and he slid down off of his back, stretching out all over. He had come into Durem via a dragon ride in hopes of getting his hair trimmed, maybe get the remaining black that clung to the edges of it removed. Changing ones appearance was a good way of changing their mood he'd figured out, change of hair, new cloths, and maybe he would be feeling like his old self again?

"Its kinda strange how much I have changed since I was little." He said, catching his reflection in the glass window of one of the store fronts. He turned from side to side and then tilted his head to the side. His hair had faded from black to white, his feet had gotten all fluffy, his wings and tail were larger while he himself seemed to have stayed on the smaller side. He was rather short wasn't he? It was the most obvious when he was standing with Chath, Chath was younger then he was but taller by quite a bit, "I need to get some taller shoes, those sorts with the nice, thick soles then I can at least pretend to be tall."

Vorel looked over at him then seemed to be grinning a bit, leaned over to n** at his boy's hair and gave it a playful little tug. He didn't know whether or not shoes were needed, so what? So his boy was on the short side, Vorel knew that he himself wasn't going to be a large dragon himself compared to some of the others so they were a perfect pair of shorties. He sat down and looked around, watching the people as they went by.

"Go Durem! Woo!" There was a cry out to the side from one of the many people and it was then echoed by a bunch of the others that were gathered. This seemed to finally catch Ligeia's attention and he turned to look at the people and really see what they were dressed in. Men and women, boys and girls all decked out in their summer gear, shorts and swimsuits all of them in the colors of red and black. He tilted his head to the, curiously. He looked over at Vorel and the dragon gave a bit of a shrug seeming to have as much of an understanding as his owl did about what was going on, that amount being little.

Then suddenly he was being pegged by a wave of waterballons that all burst upon hitting him and his dragon. Both of them jumped a good foot, looking around in confusion beforethey spotted a small group wearing white and black checker patterned shirts running off away from them, laughing, "Take that Durem losers!" One yelled back as they fled.

Vorel gave a growling sound, rising to his feet but Ligeia lifted a hand to lay it against his cool, glass like scales, "No, I think they were just playing since its just water." He said, brushing at his damp hair before digging into his pocket to get a ribbon out, tying his hair back and out of his face, "though I do wonder whats going on. Maybe we should keep going to the salon and maybe we won't get hit with anymore water?"

The Frost dragon shook off then gave a nod of agreement, "I guess." He said, wanting to at least get to chase after those that had attacked his boy but gave in and followed after him. It seemed like an interesting game, throwing water. It was the same as splashing around in the pool back at D-corp. Maybe his owl should stay here, should play here, and it may help him to get back into a happy mood? He just had to get him to join the game, right? He was at a bit of a loss on how to do that though, how did one get a teenager to play?

He looked around a moment then reached his tail out, snatching up bucket of water that was sitting under a pump and with a flick of his tail the contents were emptied on Ligeia. The owl was still for a moment before giving a shreik of surprise, spinning around to look up at his dragon before he gave a flap of his wings, trying to pounce on him. He wrapped his arms around the dragon's long neck and held on tight as Vorel took to the air, flapping his wings in his attempt to 'escape'. Not that he was trying to hard as he didn't want to risk hurting his owl.

"Hey! No wasting water we are working on hard pumping that to beat the other teams!" A woman called up at them, snatching up the bucket before she looked the pair over and pointed, "Go that way. You need to register if your going to join the games!"

Ligeia and Vorel looked in the direction she was pointing before both nodded, "Sorry! We will do that!" Ligeia called, letting go of Vorel and fluttered in the air in front of him, "We should go check it out, see whats going on and then see if we want to sign up for it." He turned and flapped in the direction they were told to go in and Vorel followed after, grinning and dragon's smile. It had worked! His owl was thinking of playing and was smiling a bit. Excellent!

Journal Entry
I am only writing in this thing to steady my nerves, after all I am currently dealing with a lot of things balanced on my plate some of them worse then others. Something happened at D-Corp with the dragons according to Ter, then again his opinions on things are harder to figure out then if one were to know the facts. He said the dragons left and he was glad someone called Aullol went with them. As I write this Ligeia is sitting on the floor with is brother, they aren't doing the same thing mind you but that they are both sitting there without fighting is rather strange. Ligeia being hurt seemed to change something Ter perhaps? He's actually been... nice to his brother.

I really wondering what was going through whoever's head when they decided that they should send a bunch of kids in to deal with what was going on? Apparently they didn't think about the worst possibility? That being people getting hurt. I think I understand now what that loud guy from the Parent Teacher conference was feeling when he was yelling about his kid being hurt.

Orpheus tapped his pen against the paper as he thought on what he'd written. Having to get a call about going to see Ligeia in the hospital had to be one of the hardest things to ever hear. He had dropped all he was doing to go to his son, seeing him all bandaged up... he gave a shake of his head trying to clear it. Ligeia was alright, he would heal in time but the owl did seem a bit out of it of late. On top of that he never complained about his injuries, about his pain. He said that he was lucky only to get some broken bones, that he couldn't complain because Chath had been hurt far worse. Orpheus wondered if the owl somehow blamed himself for it though that didn't make sense.

What else didn't make sense was Ter, he was all for blaming the newt for Ligeia getting hurt. The way the snake saw it had Ligeia not jumped in to help Chath he would be fine. Orpheus made a mental note not to allow the snake boy the chance to ever tell the newt that. He doubted that being in the condition he was in that Chath needed anyone yelling at him about such things.

The red head starred down at the paper a moment more, he should probably write more but at the moment he really didn't feel like expression his emotions on paper... he closed the journal and shoved it into the drawer of his desk, tossed the pen onto the desk and rose to his feet, "Come on you two, I think we should go out for dinner tonight."

Ligeia and Ter both looked over at Orpheus with wide, pleased eyes. They loved the times they got to eat out cause that meant their father wasn't cooking...

Ter was instantly rising to his feet, holding a hand out to Geia and helped him up much to the surprise of both the owl and their father, both shook off the surprised feeling and the trio was soon getting ready to head out.

Orpheus looked over at Vorel and Baroness, "Behave while we are out and I will bring you two back some. Deal?"

The wyvern looked at the frost dragon, they exchanged a long stare before both finally nodded. They supposed for a surprise prize they could put up with each other for a short time.

Second Hand Flying

Ligeia was heading to his favorite spot, the place he always went when he wanted to think things over and that was the roof of D-Corp. He wondered how it was fairing, after all acid had been burned through it so that the larger dragons could escape. He wondered if that meant that they wouldn't get to land of there again for a while. The owl was resting on the back of his Frost. This wasn't by any means flying, he knew that but it was as close as he could get at the moment. At least he no longer had the sling which was uncomfortable and always in the way though he did still have to suffer with the cast on his arm and his wing binding. He'd been told that things were 'mending nicely' but he would still have to be careful for a while, didn't want to stress the delicate process that was his bones knitting together.

He patted Vorel's back, leaning over his neck, "I don't think we should land on the roof, I'm not sure how stable it is." He said. As much as he wanted to go to his normal 'thinking spot' it would have to wait or he would have to find a new spot. He found himself looking around but D-Corp was the tallest place for a good distance, anywhere else would involve a long trip that he wasn't sure he wanted to make at the moment. He knew that some people, those without wings had to deal with this sort of thing all the time, that the closest they got to get to flying was when their dragons carried them. For Ligeia it was driving him crazy, normally when he was up so high he and Vorel would drop, let the air sail passed them as they 'fell' before opening their wings and a warm, updraft would catch them bring them back up high again.

"Where do you want to go?" He asked of the Frost Dragon.

Vorel seemed to be mulling the question over for a while before he looked at his boy, giving him a toothy smile then suggested, "The park?" Yes it was the place he always asked to go, it was his favorite place by far given all there was to do there. His tone had sounded both hopeful and a little hesitant, as if he weren't sure that his partner would go for it.

Ligeia thought on it for a moment before he gave a nod of his head, "Sure, we can go to the park I don't mind." While yes he wasn't up for along flight he would deal with one if it were for Vorel, that he was starting to perk up again was enough of a reason. The Frost Dragon had the mind of a puppy sometimes and that was how Ligeia like it, him being happy and playful not him worrying over things that were in the past and couldn't be changed.

The Frost gave a nod, then turned towards the park giving a couple flaps of his great wings to get them going in the right direction before resuming gliding which was far more relaxing if you asked him.

The owl boy let his eyes close, enjoying the feeling of the wind moving through his hair. Even if he couldn't fly on his own yet he could enjoy second hand flying... if he tried hard enough at least, when he closed his eyes he could almost pretend he was the one flying, "I miss flying on my own... thank you taking me up Vorel."

Vorel nodded, "Will fly again." The Frost said in total confidence. He knew that his partner was much stronger then he appeared when it came to determination. Weak in body, strong in mind which was helpful since Vorel knew he was just the opposite himself strong in body and weak in mind. They were a perfect pair! He just had to make sure that his owl didn't do anything stupid that would get him hurt again so they could continue as the perfect pair.

When a gift showed up to be absent under the corp's tree that year, the local kindergarden teacher had gone into a panic, and soon the boss of the company was calling in favors to pull out a suprise gift on Christmas day.

But to everyone else, the true result would be unknown, and under the tree was a brightly decorated, large and heavy box. Little snowflakes hung from the ribbon tied to it, and inside was a huge suprise. A very new, shiney, and fancy sewing machine. With all of the new bits and bobs, and special do-dads that practically did all the work for you.
A 20 dollar gift certificate to the local fabric store was settled neatly atop it.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 27, 2007 1:45 am

Ligeia's SS

The gift certificate itself had the owl boy a bit confused, the price of it was more then what they were told they should spend on the Secret Santa gifts and then to find what was within the beautifully wrapped box itself. There was a part of him that felt a little guilty as his Secret Santa had gone to great lengths to get him something so beautiful, so shiny, so expensive. The small bit of guilt was overshadowed though by the excitement that he felt. He wouldn't have to sew by hand anymore! To have a sewing machine like this one would make everything so much easier, so much faster!

"Just imagine what I could do with this." He breathed, his dark eyes going wide in delight.

Vorel sat alongside his boy unsure of what the strange machine was that had him so fascinated but the mere fact that it had put such a smile on his boy's face made the dragon like it. Ligeia didn't smile nearly enough of late, had far to much on his mind to worry about and this little contraption had made all that worry go away, "Shiny." He said in compliment of the device. Since he had no idea what it could do he had chosen his wording carefully.

"Very." Ligeia said, rising up to his feet and then looked over at Vorel with large, hopeful eyes, "Can I ask you to carry it for me without it being an insult?" He knew that at times he used poor Vorel as a pack horse and he didn't want to bother him with that.

Vorel gave a nod, lowering his head and carefully closed his jaws on the box making sure to get a good hold so he could pick it up but at the same time carefully enough so as not to crush it, "Es gooo." He said around the box.

Ligeia gave him a bright smile, "Thank you Vorel. Your the best dragon ever!"

Vorel seemed to light up, his tail swishing rapidly and he was soon following Ligeia to his room. Yes, he was the best dragon ever he agreed happily to himself.

A Gift from Alora

From Alora
Ligeia’s gift from Alora was wrapped in light blue wrapping paper. When opened, the gift would show itself as a snowy owl plush, with a blue ribbon tied around its neck. The card that came with the present said, “Merry Christmas Ligeia! With love, from Alora.”

Ligeia was excited to find another gift from an unexpected source. Alora had sent him the cutest little stuffed owl and not just any owl but one like him. He looked it over before giving the plushy a little hug, "Isn't it cute?" He said to his dragon, holding it out so that he could look.

Vorel sniffed at it then snagged it from his boy's hands with his teeth. He was careful not to harm the item as he played keep away with Ligeia, almost laughing in amusement as the owl jumped up to try to get it back. Each time Ligeia got close he would move his head then laugh a bit. When the owl was exhausted but giggling he finally gave it back, pleased.

Vorel had made it his prerogative to make his boy smile no matter what it took.

"Ahh, you got slobber on it." Ligeia said, giving his dragon a playful shove before wiping off the dampness on the stuffed owl best that he could before sitting it in the hammock that he slept in, "I think we should make something for Alora to thank her for the nice gift what do you think?"

It would give him something to do with the new sewing machine he'd gotten from his Secret Santa and he a nice way to thank Alora.

Vorel sat down, laying his head on the bed and seemed to be thinking on it, "Hmm... maybe... nice dress, like princess?" He suggested the first thing to come to mind.

"A dress? Hmm... be a bit more complicated then anything I've ever made but Earako did show me all those really nice books at that store. She's made dresses from them so if we followed those patterns." The owl trailed off as he sank into thought, plotting and planning. Vorel had come up with a great idea and now he just had to do the follow through work.

Vorel smiled when his owl seemed to like the idea, then as Ligeia went to thinking he turned his attention to playing with the stuffed owl once more.

Bad Dreams

He was sitting on the very edge of the D-Corp building looking down towards the ground below. A smile spread over his lips as he saw something down there that was a bright orange color. The one person that he really wanted to talk to but had been unable to catch up with of late. If he hurried he could catch him before he went inside! Without thinking stood up and then hopped off of the edge of the building so that he could go down to land next to his friend, as soon as he jumped though he knew something was wrong. His wing wasn't cooperating and he felt as if he were falling faster then normal... the bright orange that was Chath was gone all of a sudden, no where to be found and even Vorel wasn't there. Where was everyone? He flapped his wings rapidly and only ended up losing a shower of feathers but gained no altitude. The ground below got closer and closer and closer... and then he hit...

Ligeia woke up with an ear splitting and very owl like shreik, finding himself laying in a heap under his hammock...

Vorel was at his side in an instant to nuzzle against him then set to looking him over with worry in his big, blue eyes, "Ligeia? Are you alright?"

"I... I don't know..." He admitted, lifting his hands up to wrap them around the dragon who helped him up to his shaking legs.

A moment later his door opened to reveal his father and brother both of them having been alerted to his distress by the sound he'd made. Ter opted to stay at the door and watch the proceedings while their father walked in and over to Ligeia, "Are you alright?" He asked, his words mirroring what his dragon had asked him.

Ligeia looked quite unsure before he stepped closer and wrapped his arms around his father tightly, not saying anything because everything that was bothering him he didn't want to bring up. Especially not to his father who while he loved dearly still worked for D-corp. He wondered if his short comings would be made known to those in charge if he said them outloud to someone that was employeed by them?

"B-Bad dream." He murmured, drawing back and looked up at his father. He should be able to trust him enough to tell him but instead gave him a shaky smile, "Just a bad dream I'm sorry to have woke you."

Vorel didn't look as if he believed his owl at all, sitting down he watched him through half closed eyes the realized something that shocked the Frost dragon. His boy was lying... to his father even. Why didn't the red head notice?

"Its alright, I'm your Father right? I'm supposed to be woken up if you need me." He said, ruffling the boy's already sleep tousled hair, "Its still rather early so you should try to get some more sleep if you can."

"I'll try, thank you." He said, smoothing a hand over his pajamas to get rid of the wrinklings caused by his fall.

Orpheus gave him a smile then turned to go, "If you need anything call for me ok?" He said as he headed out the door wondering if he should press for details about the bad dream but since Ligeia said he was fine he didn't want to push. If his son needed him surely he would come to him even though he was a teenager now. No matter Geia's age he was still Orpheus's son.

Ter watched their father go before looking back at Ligeia, "No more scaring me out of sleep." He hissed, flicking his tongue out at his brother before leaving the room. The snake pulled the door closed until there was just a crack and then leaned back against the wall next to it to listen. He knew that something was wrong with the owl and while he knew Ligeia wouldn't talk to him he also knew he would talk to Vorel if he thought nobody else was listening in.

When his father and brother were both gone the owl gave a little, sighing sound, "I'm not all that tired anymore, you wanna go for a walk with me?" He asked of his dragon figuring that his dragon may actually enjoy an early morning walk. The two of them were made more for wandering around when it was darker so it would be more comfortable for them.

Vorel watched him closely then said, "You lied to Orpheus."

"I don't want him to know or to worry, its just a few fears I need to get over is all." He said as he walked over to his dresser getting out something wear and set to changing.

"Fears...? Ah! The magic thing?" Vorel asked, following his boy almost to the point of crowding him.

"Yes, the magic thing. There is the problem with my wing too. I haven't flow since I broke it and now..." He lifted his hand to touch it, "Now I am scared that I can't. What if I can't fly again?" If he couldn't use magic, if he couldn't fly... then what was he? They were the two things he'd always enjoyed the most in life.

Vorel leaned over to give Ligeia a n**, "I will be your wings." He said simply then gave him a sharp toothed smile, "Fresh air will make you feel better."

"Yeah, lets go." He said, turned to lead the way. Neither noticed Ter peeking out of his room from across the hall watching them as they left the apartment.
