Adrian had to admit, this was very entertaining, even more so than watching FeralBlood stalking the pack to look for a wolf to... try not to kill. Not that Nightwing didn't take every opportunity to hound the Recruits, but having two wolves chase after the teens was twice as amusing. He should probably invite the entire pack over next time to partake in some... physical training. But in all honesty, this was very good practice for the recruits, especially in improving their endurance. They couldn't expect to go through their entire Wolfriding life without some failures (usually in the form of physical injury). If they decided they couldn't handle this, then he would gladly see them leave the Academy. The life of a Wolfrider was not for the weak and wary.

Nightwing was never confused, but for a short second, he had no idea what to do when Chehero pointed her rifle at him. No recruit ever had the balls to try and attack him, and he vaguely admired her for her courage. But that quickly faded as he growled in annoyance since shd hadn't even pointed the barrel of the gun in the direction - if anything, the bullet might have grazed the tip of his tail. So rushed forward and swiped the gun out of her hands with a forceful paw. Then he turned away, not waiting to see if she had been knocked off balance by his strike. There were more victims to attend to...

Next in his sight was Keeva, who was still trailing behind after all this time. Nightwing took a few short strides to reach the girl, before sweeping a soft blow to her feet with his large paws, knocking her feet out from under her. Then he paused and looked down as a familiar reached his nostrils. Firestride is here, he commented with slight disinterest.

Turning his head to look around, Adrian spotted the pair approaching and he raised an eyebrow. Now what was with all the Wolfriders coming by today? Were they bored or something? Damien needed to set them to working rather than let them mourn for weeks on end. Or maybe they were simply here to escape Feral's foul temper... not that he ever had trouble with the Alpha. Nightwing behaved properly with the higher ranking wolf and was always doing something to Feral's approval (usually beating up on another wolf).

"Your lover?" Adrian inquired with a playful smirk towards Alice, nodding his head towards the nearing Private. Then as he came close enough to dismount, Adrian watched as the man saluted the two Sergeants and announced himself, which caused the Drill Sergeant to roll his eyes. As if they couldn't tell where he came from based on his uniform. That and considering they all came from the same Patrol, he knew very well who Firah was (...sort of). "Now who would be sending messages to O'Conner? A secret admirer perhaps?"

Glancing down at the Gamma, Nightwing considered sliding down there to assert his dominance. But then he decided he was having too much to care, and he turned his attention onto his next victim: Kaela. The girl reeked of fear and he growled as the fur along his neck bristled in disgust. He could feel the weakness coming from this recruit and it did not please him in the bit. If she wanted to survive in this world, she had better toughen up or he'd rip her to pieces himself. But she was still on the ground and he rather liked his height right now...

So Nightwing paced the middle of the mountains, waiting for Kaela to climb up, and also waiting for the recruits at the top to climb back down. He glanced at the ones resting atop the cliff and kept a watchful eye on them as one ear flickered back to listen to the approaching recruit. If the quicker recruits thought they were safe because they'd already reached the top, they were unfortunately very wrong. He was waiting for them.

A quick glance up the cliff to make sure none of the recruits had been killed yet, Adrian looked back at Firah, then to Firestride. "Since you're here, might as well let your wolf join in the fun. They're playing centipede and giving the recruits a bit of a hard climb there." Another smirk as he looked back to the ones who had been knocked down the cliff - and there was still more to come.

"Holy Sh!t!"

A very concentrated Keeva hadn't even heard the huge dark wolf approach her; she was much too busy trying not to fall. But then, she mused, laying flat on her back at the base of the cliff, blood oozing from a collection of scratches, even if I did see him coming, there wouldn't have been much I coulda done about it. She sighed, huffing away a piece of fallen hair from her sparking purple eyes. "At least I'm not dead," she said with a groan as she tried to rise, only to fall back on her bottom hard. "...Then again, maybe being dead would be nice."

Miri saw a Private and his white-furred with touches of red wolf approach the Sergeants. She wasn't paying attention to what they were saying since she was busy trying to climb the cliff. "I might be with that Private one day, but if I don't climb, I will never make it!"She laid all daydreams aside and continued climbing up the stupid cliff. Only when she heard sergeant tell the private's wolf to chase after her and the others, she was thinking, "Ohhhh sh!t...Did the Sergeants want to kill all the recruits?" Miri rushed and scrambled as she made it to the top of the cliff. (OOC: Frankly, I'm not sure what the cliff looks like, how tall, etc. sweatdrop )

((@yylaayl: Don't worry, I'm not sure any of us are...))

Eyes fixed on the ground, concentrating on every step, Kaela felt more than saw Nightwing up ahead. The huge presence, a feeling of being watched once again. Her first instinct was to freeze, or run and hide. The first thing that stopped her was the instant knowledge that if she stopped, even for a moment, it would be ever harder to continue on her way again. The second was when she glanced up at the dark Beta. Despite herself, she was fascinated, with a near irresistible urge to get nearer to the beautiful creature. Perhaps because wolves had never hurt her, while humans had, or perhaps because she'd lost herself in the moment, but her fear dissipated as she continued upwards.

Closer and closer, she lowered her eyes as though she hadn't seen him, concentrating on the climb. Knowing she was painfully slow, she pushed herself a little harder, a little faster. As she came almost level to the wolf, a sudden thought flew across her mind -- what was Nightwing looking for in them? Endurance? Patience? Courage? Obedience? With every step she took, was she driving herself closer or further from the approval of the sergeant and his bonded?

Chehero felt a small rush of adrenalin course through her as Nightwing stopped in front of her, feeling slightly proud of herself she hoped he would leave. Raising the gun away from her target Chehero was getting ready to turn and continue to climb up the mountain side. She was stopped by Nightwings growl of annoyance, eye's widening as the wolf drew closer she pushed her gun out to protect her from any harm. Sure enough the wolf managed to remove the gun from her hands, and not just the gun he had completely knocked her back down the mountain. Screaming as she toppled head over heals down the mountainside.

Hitting the bottom with a very hard thump Chehero was pleased that this hadn't caused any broken bones yet. Bruised from shoulders to ankle Chehero shook as she rose herself off the ground, determined to reach the top. Her electric pink eyes scanning the area around her looking for the gun she had lost somewhere along the way. Shifting the weight of the sand bag there was at least one thing she could be happy about. She hadn't lost at least one of the required items.

Looking towards the sergeants in hopes that her gun had possibly fallen over by them Chehero froze. Another wolf and rider had joined the mix, what was this social gathering for them? Shaking her head and returning to hunting for her gun, Chehero ran her fingers through her white and pink hair. There was no way she would join that fort, the drill sergeant was insane the wolves were not far off. The woman was annoying with her constant commands and gun shooting. Grumbling under her breath her eyes finally settled down on her gun a few feet from her. Stumbling over to the gun she scooped it up moved it back into position and began the climb up the mountain once again.

This time she was moving much slower, managing to keep up with a few recruits Chehero had to stop only a few meters from the ground to rest. Her feet were cold, the fingers that held the gun was stiff, not to mention very sore. Not to far above her Nightwing was pacing back and forth, that could only mean she was almost back to the point she was before. Searching the path ahead she was determined to move around of the wolfs path. Chehero wasn't sure she was going to make it through this day.

Find our way back down was the instruction, Jamie went over this in her head finding it only slightly easier to breath than when she had reached the top. Seeing the centipede confrontations taking place below got the recruit remembering the stories she heard growing up and despite her state, excitement crept up on her just like her excitement of hearing the endeavors of wolves and their riders. Others had commented how odd they found her for being so enthusiastic about such tales, saying that it didn't match the look of her. The recruit held up her rifle, hand off the trigger but in a shooting stance, trying to accurately aim at the centipedes. The wheels in her enthusiastic mind turned: From this distance how much practice does it take not to miss from here? Where is the best spot to hit? Jamie tried to match the gaze of her aim with the rifle, tried to point the rifle to the spot on the centipede she had her eyes on.

Then Jamie remembered another advice she was given: It won't do to underestimate things, don't think so lightly. Jamie had also experienced the truth of this advice often during the years before saying how she'd train and then being met with the challenges of what she gets herself into, how much strain and exhaustion was awaiting her during the tasks she naively overlooked the struggles they had in store.

Jamie lowered her rifle back to the instructed position and took a deep breath in then out her eyes being the most defining of her features. She composed and readied herself to stop resting, her gaze traveling and taking in the view before her again and when her vision traveled to the sergeants she found another rider and wolf had arrived. Her gaze did not stay long as she her determined eyes went to work taking in the sight of the centipedes on the distribution of fellow recruits on the cliff wall. She was in a coolly concentrated state that was not an common sight given more casual circumstances. Find? Jamie then questioned, returning to the matter of heading back. We'll then, going back the way we came is a way back down, isn't it, she decided.

Don't take things lightly, she reminded herself as she started her climb down the cliff wall. Though she kept serious, she was keeping the thrill inside her from detracting from her concentration, a thrill that persisted despite the pains she was experiencing at the same time. She had cuts that were bleeding and gravity felt desperate to yank her to an unpleasant fall, but awareness of all this mixed with her joy of the here and now of trying to achieve her dream of becoming capable of joining the fight against centipede attacks. A tenth of the way down, Jamie adjusted herself and took to scanning for one of the centipedes, then sighting Flamehaze. Jamie held up her rifle to match her sight as she compared to her experience of aiming to when she was taking aim at the top of the cliff.

Jashua kept moving, humming softly to herself as she scaled the wall, dark almost black eyes focused only on the rocks in front of her.

"Welcome Jashua, welcome to the rest of us." Loche said, laying back in the grass and staring up at the stars.

Pain, sudden and sharp tore through her hand. A sharp rock, jutting from the cliff side and she had jammed her hand into it. Pausing for the briefest moment she shoved the wound in her mouth, shuddering slightly as she licked away the dirt and blood, spitting it back out to clean the wound on the fly. That done she shook her hand a few times, splattering small drops of blood against he cliff face before reaching out for another ledge.

"Aren't we out past Curfew?" Jashua pointed out, resting on her elbows and glaring pointedly at Loche, who had dragged her out against her will. Loche ignored her, pointing up at the stars.

Jashua very nearly fell off the cliff and lost her balance when she came to the top, she hadn't really made note of the pace she was climbing at and hadn't realized she was so close to the top. Pausing again she sucked more blood from her hand and surveyed the scene below her.

"See that star there. That's the north star. Now go south and east of that, doesn't that cluster kind of look like a wolves paw?" Loche asked, Jashua followed his finger as he traced out the cluster.

It was then she noticed Nightwing in hiding, about to pounce on an unsuspecting girl. Jashua wasn't sure who she was, but she appeared to be having some troubles. Jashua couldn't help but question whether or not she was hurt. Quickly she adjusted her rifle, balancing it on her arm she took aim at Nightwings head, one eye closed the other squinted as she judged the distance. Resting the rifle on her injured arm to keep it steady she still didn't put her finger on the trigger.
"BANG NIGHTWING!" She shouted loudly in the dark colored wolves direction, "Wolfriders look out for others in their patrol." She added to herself, though she doubted the wolf would hear that.

"Yeah, a bit I guess." Jashua said, laying back down in the grass. She guessed Curfew didn't matter, a few extra laps if they were caught, so what? The stars out here were worth it. Feeling so much closer atop the cliff.

Jashua shook the memory from her head, returning her focus only on Nightwing and his unsuspecting victim.

Dave felt himself being tugged backwards and with annoyance toppled over skidding a little ways down before catching himself and correcting his footing. Looking around to see what had happened about the wolf he was just in time to see Chehero fall to the bottom of the cliff after her gun. That wasn't fun at all, huffing at having been taken away from the battle he continued to climb as far as he could only stopping when he found Nightwing pacing about. Taking in a deep breath he moved as quietly and carefully as he could hopping not to call attention to himself and be sent toppling to the bottom of the cliff.

A lone figure walked from the Academy, bobbing up and down in an irregular pattern. The recruit drew hissing breaths through his teeth, mist from his exhales puffing up in the air as he continued to walk. It wasn't like Russell Steele to be late. It was rude, inconsiderate, and, not to mention, made him look as though he didn't care, which was never his problem. If anything, he had cared too much for all of his five years at the Academy, and being slowed as he was, not to mention being a fair bit late for rifle training, was nagging at him.

Nevertheless, what was one to do? His left leg was being obviously favored, the hisses in pain coinciding with any pressure being put on it. Russ had gone for a jog this morning and his shoes, wet from the snow, had slipped on the steps when he had gone to put his books up. The recruit had been forced to sit still long enough and stretch it slowly until he could do any such semblance of walking.

There were three Wolfriders in a cluster, and he caught sight of two of the wolves and his fellow recruits (weren't there just a lot of girls nowadays?) climbing the slope. The two sergeants and the private were far from intimidating. Russ expected punishment for being late and at least a condescending insult for the way he limped at the moment.

When he drew near, he stood as straight as he could manage, though he did lean a little on the not-hurt leg. Saluting at all three, he said in an even voice, "Recruit Russell Steele reporting. Orders?" He wouldn't apologize for being late. Apology indicated that whatever had been done had been his fault, and he'd be damned if he'd admit that. He couldn't help that snow was wet nor that wet things were slippery. So, he'd stepped wrong, his pride was already paying for that without the indignity of apologizing for tardiness that wouldn't earn him sympathy even if he was new.

The younger Sergeant snorted in amusement as she watched the unfortunate Recruits tumble down the hill side. Haze, I do believe aiming a gun at a "centipede", regardless whether it was locked or not, was not apart of the task... A sound of agreement came from the wolf and Alice took the pleasure of watching the tall Beta quickly fall onto his victims like a spider attacking flies caught in its web. The woman's entertainment did not last long as the sound of an approaching wolf turned her attention to Firah and Firestride.

"Why? You jealous that he's better looking than any girl or guy you've been with?" Alice responded dryly as she turned away from the older Sergeant, obviously to hide the highly amused mask on her face. "Yo," she replied casually at Firah's formal introduction and salute. The woman peered at the letter cautiously before plucking it from the Private's hand. "Damien put you up to this?" she snapped at Firah with a dead-serious expression, even though there was only humor laced behind her voice.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm sure you got loads of love letters back in the eighties... beginning of the world... whenever it was that you were actually in your prime."
she shot over her shoulder jokingly at Adrian. She was aware that the constant jeering/teasing would probably earn her a smack to the back of the head, but she figured she had worse and merely shrugged the thought off. Alice thumbed the letter open and glanced over the writing, pausing briefly to back track over a certain sentence. It was possible that the girl's face might have paled slightly just then, but considering her skin was already close to chalk-white, it was hard to tell. Silently she closed the letter and slipped it into her pocket. She was quiet for a moment before she shook her head and pinched the bridge of her nose as she sighed. "Where was I again? Ah, yes..."

Alice turned back to watching the flailing Recruits with moderate amusement. "Recruits just aren't what they used to be. Consider yourself lucky for surviving the course, Firah." she mused with a cheeky grin to the Private; her strange way of complimenting him. "Keep a close eye on some of these blokes; you just might have to drag one around New Eve for six months..." Alice chuckled before turning to a late Recruit. "I think this one is yours, Adrian. Can't have me completely taking your job for the day, now can we?" she smirked playfully.

((OoC: When she mentions the eighties she's talking about the AL 80s xD))

Haze watched the few bold Recruits take aim at the older Beta, feeling more or less annoyed that they would dare point a gun at a wolf after being told to keep it in the safety position. He quietly snuck up behind Kaela and gave the back of the girl's shirt a tug to make her loose her footing. He then proceeded to quietly dart across the cliff side and swept his muzzle under Jashua's leg.

He looked at the Recruits at the base of the cliff for a moment before noticing the pale wolf with the Sergeants along with the Private that seemed to have joined them. Going to join us, Firestride? Haze called to the other male curiously. Without waiting for an answer, the tall wolf turned and stealthily made his way up the side of the cliff. Nightmare may have been waiting for the prey to come to him, but it would do no good if the prey didn't want to come down. He'd just have to force them down himself. Noticing one of the guns pointed at him, Haze came upon Jamie at a deadly pace and swiped the gun out of her hands with a large paw in seconds. He turned on the other Recruits at the top of the cliff, drawing back his lips as he gave a dark growl in warning.

Adrian merely smirked in amusement as Alice continued to make nice with the Private, pleased that at least his current company had a knack for entertaining him in a challenging way. Most of the time he had to create his own entertainment, which usually consisted of throwing any wayward recruits off the Academy roof since there was little else (or anyone else, for that matter) to do. Despite his anti-social attitude, Adrian still enjoyed bickering with a fellow (intelligent) rider.

"Actually, they were more of commentary cards that complimented my abilities," he responded, focusing his eyes at the sudden but slight change of demeanor in the Sergeant. From her silence and tenseness as she read the message, Adrian could only guess it had something to do with family, but she quickly sighed and moved back to the current flow of conversation. His interest was piqued, but he would snoop later. For now, there was a straggler to deal with.

Adrian looked away from the riders and narrowed his eyes as a recruit walked up to them. The boy was either really late or Adrian had somehow missed the recruit completely, which wasn't possible because the Drill Sergeant was always on top of his recruits. But what surprised him even more was that there was no apologies, which probably helped Russell in the end as Adrian found that to be quite a strong trait. A true officer understood when he was to be punished and did not try to make excuses or apologies to try and get out of it.

"You're late," Adrian stated blandly, glancing down at the recruit's left leg, wondering what the idiot had done. The point of his exercises was to familiarize the recruits to pain and injury, but that couldn't very well work if they hurt themselves before coming to class. Deciding that forcing the boy to climb the cliff with an injured leg was punishment enough, he nodded towards the cliffside. "Go climb to the top."

Keep a paw out for this one.

The dark wolf stared intently at Kaela as he continued to pace back and forth, vaguely noting that FlameHaze was still running around attacking the others. But Nightwing had his eyes set on the weakest of the herd and he was stalking his prey, waiting for the right time to spring onto the girl and knock her down to where she belonged - in the dirt. He hated the weak and fearful, and she reeked of everything that he despised, and he would either change her or make her leave this life.

A quick look towards the late recruit at his human's instructions, and Nightwing had half a mind to ignore the man, but that never ended well. So he simply growled softly to himself before rushing forward towards Kaela. He was on her within a few strides and he reached a large paw out, swiping her shoulder with enough force to push her off the cliff. With a look of dominance, he then turned his attention to the top of the cliff where FlameHaze was currently threatening the other recruits.

Turning his head to the side, Nightwing noticed a boy trying to slip by. Lips curling and a short snarl erupting from his throat, he quickly rushed forward and sunk his teeth in Dave's pack, pulling the recruit backwards as the fabric teared and allowed the sand to spill out.

At this rate, they'd go through all the recruits before any of them climbed up and back down. Now they were simply waiting for the ones on top, it seemed. Nightwing started climbing up the slope at a slow pace, waiting for the younger Beta to chase the recruits down. They'd soon find themselves caught between two mouthfuls of wolf teeth.

Russ watched the female sergeant, noting that she seemed upset at the contents delivered by Private Firah. Though he didn't know her, he wished he could offer her anything to be of comfort, knowing full well that it was ever-so-nice to have some in times of need. Regardless of personal issues, she seemed to be in charge for the day. Well enough. He saw no reason to have a problem with a young woman leading the drills for the day. Gender, age, it all meant nothing. Experience and talent showed, eventually, who was who. She was a sergeant, and FlameHaze was a Beta. That was enough for him.

She handed him over to the Drill Sergeant. His attention turned to the other, murmuring a "Yes sir," at the statement of his tardiness. Muscles in his injured leg twitched, threatening a cramp, and he slid his foot forward the slightest bit to give him the ability to stretch them out. He wasn't going to fall over because of a refusal to move; that was ridiculous.

The order was met with a momentary pause as Russell's eyes flickered to the cliffside, spotting the rest of the recruits dodging the two Betas on the rocky slope. Gleaning the information he needed, he nodded, repeating, "Yes, sir," before turning to the rifles and sandbags before picking up one of each, continuing to favor his injured leg with a determined look on his face. As he picked up the rifle, he noted the natural way it felt in his hand. Pointing it at the ground, he gave the trigger a squeeze to ensure that it was locked - it was - before setting off up the slope.

At first, his biggest problem was the incline. Lifting his leg was not a pleasant activity nor a hobby he felt like investing in at the moment. He soon drew back into his rhythm, quick, slow, quick, slow, quick, with hissing breaths accompanying the slow steps. The sandbag weighed on his shoulder as it usually did, and he gave pity towards the new recruits who would not be used to its weight already.

Soon, he found the biggest issue to be the rocks. One misstep on his bad leg, one rock barely beneath his book slipped, forcing him to drop to a kneel, his head bent with his eyes at the ground as he fought off the intense pain in his leg. Rocks dug into his palms and his eyes actually closed for a moment as he listened. He awaited the sound of Nightwing heading towards him, his grip on his rifle hardening while he let his leg slowly settle to a dull throb. C'mon. Weak prey sitting near the bottom of the slope. A sheep away from the herd; a deer fallen down a mountainside. Well? He thought, pulling his leg back in from its spot out in the open to put the shin against the ground. His other drew up, the knee against his chest. Russ was almost ready to move, just not yet.

"Yes Ma'am." Letting his hand drop to his side as the letter was plucked from his grasp, the private tossed the Drill Sergeant a glance before directing his gaze back onto Alice when she sighed. Though, he didn't reply to the younger woman's first comment, deciding it was better not to bring up the fact he had trained for years instead of getting lucky and impressing only a few months into his stay at the Academy, like she had. But her second comment was more worthy of a reply. "Oh joy, just what I need. A sniveling brat following me around, and complaining about how they were abused as a Recruit... Ma'am."

--- Casting a glance at his Beloved, Firestride pinned his ears flat against his head, bounding toward the cliff once he received a nod. The smallest of the three males paced forward at a steady rate, nodding his head toward Flamehaze and then at Nightwing, acknowledging the Betas before setting to work. He had only had a few chances to bully Recruits, the thing that seemed to be a favorite past time for New Eve Officers, so this was a rare treat for him. Bounding forward, Firestride leapt up onto the cliff face, his momentum allowing him a few precious seconds in which he used to snap at the feet of the nearest climbing recruit, before turning and dropping back to the Earth. He liked being a Centipede... now, who was to be his next victom? ---

Switching his eyes to the Recruit as he approached, Firah let his posture relax slightly, now that he was by affiliation part of the lesson. His wolf needed the break, ever since Damien had discovered him practicing with his firearm, the Private had been wary to put a short pause in such routines. Once more letting his brownish copper eyes switch faces, Firah listened to the his old Drill Sergeant's response, both surprised and unsurprised by his response. This Steele kid was one to watch. Maybe if New Eve was lucky, they'd get all the non-whiners of this year's batch...

Kaela drew a startled breath as sharp teeth brushed her skin, dragging her backwards before vanishing. She stumbled, spending a precious second regaining her balance, and by the time she turned Flamehaze was on his next victim. Another green uniform down below betrayed the presence of another latecomer, which she noted before continuing towards the next challenge, the dark Beta. His gaze weighed heavily on her, as if to hold her back, but the feeling drove her to stubbornly press forwards.

Though her eyes were still fixed on the ground, her senses were on the alert, picking up the tempo and the ever so slight thud of paws as Nightwing rushed her way. They were the senses of prey, the weak, but finally being channeled in a positive way--she'd decided on courage as the quality he sought. Consciously calming her nerves, she listened for the slight scrape of rock on rock as he lunged at her, and ducked. Within a second she was moving upwards again, faster than before. Strange, that determination and the thought of a small, raven-haired child could instill a greater strength than fear.

( Posted twice before this, page 6 & 7. Sorry I can't post so often I'm working in another shop and I live in dorms during the weekday. I wish there was an easier way to do this then try and keep up with people who have time zones worlds apart from mine. sweatdrop )

Aspen was panting still, he had only just missed getting snapped at by the wolves though he knew they would not have hurt him he rather not take the chance he anger one enough to get a firm n**. Sharp teeth that were he sure was bigger than his pointer finger did not leave him feeling warm and fuzzy inside. There were a few done climbing beside him, but he swore some of the, climbed down to do it again. Frowning he watched the wolves snap and n** at the running legs of the students, wow were they fast he wondered how much faster they could go. Laying back he continued breathing heavily unsure what he should be doing now but he was doing his best to keep his eyes open for those bugs; he wouldn’t let himself feel safe out in the open like this not when all the teachers were on the ground as were all the wolves.

Perhaps he should be running or something, or maybe they wanted him to climb down again, from the few still not up here he was starting to think that was it. Sitting up he looked at his hands to see them warn and cut the cloth was brown with drying blood and he felt dirty which he probably was. Scanning around him he saw no movement, but the hairs on the back of his neck were standing and he felt unnerved al of a sudden. Not wanting to wait he started to climb back down his riffle still tucked safely in his bag with that around his shoulders and tied around his stomach like a mountain climber would have it. Slowly and carefully he started to climb backwards, this was far worse than climbing up and he felt fear bubble up in the pit of his stomach as rocks slipped from under his feet and rolled down to the ground.

His hands were a bit protected this time with the cloth but that was thin and quickly tearing when the sharp cold rocks bit into it to reach his skin, it was like they were hungry or something. He was making his slow way back down, the hairs on the back of his neck still stood in a strange eerie way like something he didn’t see was watching him; or maybe watching them all. The faster he got back on the ground and closer to the wolves the better he would feel. He was not easy to scare, but he did not want to die for something as stupid as training, not when he was not even finished with it! Thinking too much he hadn’t been paying attention and his hands slipped, sliding down the rocky side his bare arms were flushed against the jagged stones and he struggled to get a grip on them.

When he did he was near the middle of the mountain, having fallen almost a quarter down. He did not dare look at his arms now; he could feel a searing pain and a warm sticky trail go down his arms.
