Sezer nodded thoughtfully at her comments, truly considering them as valid explanations. They did, after all, make a great deal of sense. Not only because they seemed quite logical but Vlaityn, obviously, had a female's point of view. As such, he put great faith in her words. Especially when it came to such topics.
He dipped his head in agreement once more. "Yes, lust isn't, erm, bad. It's just... Other things need to be there. Like you said. They need to be friends first. If there isn't the solid basis of friendship underneath, there can be nothing beyond that." With those rather cliche words beyond his years, he was about to open his mouth to make another comment when a voice boomed over the Great Hall. Presumably a staff member's. Or, in actuality, a student's. Some random student's voice Sezer assumed was involved with the dance.
"Alright, blokes. It's couples' dance time. Pick your ladies and sweep her off her feet."
Suddenly Sezer found himself awarded the perfect opportunity, and the courage of the cowardly lion.
(If this is wrong, or not allowed, or some other completely appropriate notion, I will change it. I meant no harm, I assure you. On a side note: I love analogies, dammit! <33)

Vlaityn would have countered with her normal tactic. A mixture or both agreeing with Sezer's statement and showing points of how it was flawed, but a loud voice that erupted over the top of the crowd had shut her mouth tight.
It felt like ice water being dumped over one's person. Vlaityn had always hated to watch the couples dance. It was lonely. She had rarely done the slow dances. She was too timid a dancer, and hard to approach if you weren't a good friend.
A nervous giggle escaped as she imagined how eager Joel would be to run off and pick a girl to pester.
Then the more important figure stood in front of her. Sezer. Damn.
"Go sweep somebody away, Sezer." She tried to grin, but Vlaityn knew it looked sad.

"Go sweep somebody away, Sezer."
In that moment everything just seemed to click for our favorite bespectacled seventh year. He wanted to dance with Vlaityn, dammit. And he always did everything he wanted to. He never gave up until he accomplished his task. And he always, always, always put forth all the effort he possessed, and more, to get it done and get it done well. Perfectly, even. Or as perfectly as was possible.
... He realized a few things. One: He was going to ask her dance and soon. Two: He was a bloody coward for not asking her in the first place. School work be dammed. Three: He hated that look in her eyes. And he would do anything to never see it there again.
He nodded, determination glittering in his grey eyes. "Alright." Taking a deep breath, though he was as nervous as hell, he offered his hand to her, bowing just a little. And, though he was convinced his voice would squeak terribly and he would sound like he was fifteen again, he rose to his full height, five foot ten and seven eighths, and spoke.
"Vlaityn, would you dance with me?" His voice was surprisingly steady and sincere, he felt. Or at least he tried to make it sound as sincere as he could. Which, at present, was quite the feat for him. Being that he had trouble keeping his voice from cracking for more than two words.

". . . . . . ."
How cruel. Her mind was making her hear things. Vlaityn could cling to the imaginary question she heard for the rest of her life.
Well, or so she thought, until she realized Sezer had a hand extended towards her And dear Lord, was he slightly inclined into a bow?
A nervous, butterfly infested beast suddenly appeared in her stomach, clawing it's way to the top.
"I'd, yes. I mean, I would love to." Vlaityn murmured numbly in her shocked voice. Somewhat nervously, she accepted Sezer's hand and stepped much closer to him. Dancing distance, that is.
"I'm a timid dancer. Thought I should, you know, forewarn you. Before I embarrass you." Vlaityn apologized with a nervous smile, almost expecting Sezer to change his mind and leave her there, alone and in shambles.

The grin that broke out on Sezer's face was nearly blinding. Or maybe I'm just over exaggerating. Regardless. The look on his face was just... That of a diabetic Italian who had known the joy of bread and was forced to be without it for twenty years. And, finally, when he was cured of his disease and when he tasted bread again, though it was not his mother's, everything was whole and well.
That Italian man was very similar to Sezer. Though he hoped to do many more couple-like things with Vlaityn, it was like he was having bread for the first time again. It was the first step. And he couldn't be happier.
And then, of course, reality had to rear it's ugly head. He didn't know how to dance. Somehow, he'd forgotten that smidge of fact that might've been helpful twenty seconds ago. And yet, he couldn't care enough to do a thing about it.
He smiled at her and laughed, just a little. "I've a confession. I don't know how to dance, either. I was never taught." A tad embarrassed, he gently led her to the dance floor. "We can learn together, then?" And, damn, he hated the hope he was sure was evident in his eyes. But he really couldn't help it.

Sever's blinding smile and the fact that he didn't know how to dance somehow eased Vlaityn into what somebody might call the mist of infatuation. A great deal of the awkwardness instantly evaporated, leaving Vlaityn to soak up the fact she was dancing with Sezer. The only guy who arms she'd ever want to be in.
"We'll start with what we know and meet somewhere in the middle then." Vlaityn's mouth formed a smile and she slowly put her hands up on Sezer's shoulder's, near his neck.
"Now we learn?" The inquiry hung in the air as the music started. At least the music was beautiful.

Sezer nodded, somehow quite unable to find his voice. Which, I assure you, was a first for him. Never before had he been at a loss for words. Not that he could remember, at least. Though he was fairly sure that Joel would say otherwise. Then again, Joel could be in front of him, making out with a poor first year boy and Sezer wouldn't have noticed.
Carefully taking Vlaityn in his arms, he placed his hands lightly at her waist, unable not to notice how big his hands seemed, especially now. And, though Vlaityn wasn't short, he noted just how.. fragile she seemed. Now, he knew she could take care of herself. That much was obvious. She was a brilliant witch. But he found, the longer they swayed somewhat awkwardly and off beat, that he wanted to protect her; if only so she didn't have to do it herself.
"Of course. We are Ravenclaw, after all. Learning comes naturally for us." He gazed down at her, smiling charmingly. [Don't you just love bread? <3]

"In most things, at least." Vlaityn smiled back up at Sezer, melting under his spectacle covered gray eyes.
It only took a few seconds before the music that seemed sufficiently loud a minute ago to slowly become white noise. The only things that started to grab Vlaityn's attention where things like how she'd never been in such close proximity with her friend before, or how she hoped it wouldn't be the last time, or how her heart was hammering in her chest. She wouldn't have been surprised if he would feel it rattling her bones.
"I almost didn't come tonight." Vlaityn threw out suddenly. Her silent pining for Sezer threatened to keep her away. She made a million excuses and lists of trivial things to do instead of watching people mingle, dance, and romance. "I can't imagine passing this up now."
Her statement had started out with the idea she would make small talk, but it morphed into a confession like thing for Vlaityn.

Sezer smiled shyly. And, upon realizing this fact, he wondered why. He had never been shy in his life ever before. What made now so different? Sezer and shy, though both started with s, were almost never associated together. And when the were, the sentence was, or very similar to, 'Sezer is not shy'. But, dammit, Vlaityn must've cast a spell on him. Some sort of love potion, perhaps? Yes, that's it. He thought dryly. Though he knew she would never do such a thing.
"You didn't?" He questioned, surprised. He blinked behind his rectangular eye wear. "Why ever not?" As soon as the inquiry was out he thought it stupid. He knew why. Because he hadn't plucked up the courage to ask her. "I must apologize, Vlaityn," he began, his gray eyes suddenly reflective. "I meant to ask you. However, I've been so busy with tutoring fifth years in Transfiguration and keeping up on my school work.. Though that's certainly no excuse. ... I just didn't get to it. I assure you, it'll never happen again."
Just then the lightest dusting of pink covered his cheeks. Had he just...? Merlin's left ear hairs! What sort of hold did she have over him? She must've slipped something into his pumpkin juice. Because the other alternative was just.. hurtful. Hurtful and untrue. Or so he'd like to think.

In some form of minor shock, Vlaityn pulled away slightly and looked up at Sezer with a perfect mix of confusion and curiosity. He had wanted to ask her? Really? Her? But there were so many other girls in the school! And surely Sezer could have had any one as a dance partner with just the slightest smile. He just had that charm.
But he had the intention of asking her?
Vlaityn could hardly believe it. But Sezer would never lie, even if it might seem to be polite flattery. He wouldn't lie to his friends. Especially over something like a dance.
Pulling herself back to him, Vlaityn left out a small sigh. "Please believe me when I say that means the world to me. No, more." She could have almost cried with relief. But that would have been an overdose of emotion, and probably a tad bit awkward.
"Oh! But I don't mean that tutoring isn't important. That's so helpful and sweet of you. You're an excellent tutor. That's much more important." She stumbled slightly, hoping he hadn't taken the past statement wrong.

It all happened so quickly. One second Anna had been dancing with him and the next she was on the ground. "Anna, are you ok?" he asked, knealing down next to her. He glared a bit at the couple that had knocked her down, but there really wasn't much he could do about them, since it was only an accident. He made a mental note to find out who they were so he could deal with them later, at least for their inconsideration.
His attention immediately returned to Anna when he saw that she was crying. Seeing her attempt, and failure, to get up, he realized that she probably hurt her ankle. Even though he knew it was probably very noticable, he still picked her up bridal-style and took her to one of the tables away from the dance floor.
Once he sat her down in one of the empty seats, he asked, "Do you need me to get you anything?" He was deeply concerned that she was injured and hoped that she was alright.

Relief flooded Sezer in waves. She wasn't mad at him! Thank the gods. He recalled one time in second year when Vlaityn was mad at him. Some utter ubbish about a practical joke Joel had done and dragged Sezer in on. She hadn't spoken to either of them for weeks. And he was miserable. Even then, he supposed. Shaking his head, he planted himself firmly in the present.
Concern flooded his eyes when she pulled away, damn them, they were being too expressive tonight, as he feared he'd done something wrong. However, when her words struck him, a strange warmth filled him. He smiled once more, quite pleased with himself. As arrogant and conceited as that may have been. But he was himself. What could he do?
"I'm glad. I only regret that my not asking nearly caused you not to attend the dance. If you hadn't have come, I wouldn't be dancing with you right now. ..." His voice trailed off softly, growing distant at the end. "I'd probably be off with Joel, watching him stalk some girl." His eyes focused on her again. He accepted her praise graciously.
"Nonsense! It's not a big deal. Merely a hobby. It looks goods on University applications. Or so I'm told. I'm considering a Univeristy. Though I'll most likely end up not going. I'm thinking of interning for Professor Arashi next year. If only so I can have an extra year to decide. .. I'd be glad to help you with Transfiguration, if you ever need it." He offered genuinely.

Anna let out a small, barely audible squeak when she was whisked off the floor and into his arms. Noticing the close proximity, the butterfly appeared to be in its cocoon again. Or was there merely another one hatching? In any case, her stomach felt all fluttery. And she hated it. She hated feeling like a girl. And yet she loved it in so many ways. It truly must mean something if Damian could make her feel this way. She soon found herself wondering if he'd been working out. She wasn't exactly as light as she was first year. Pushing said thoughts to the back of her mind, as the wonderfully numbing butterfly had died down, she looked at him through blurry eyes.
Her hands were at her lap, messing with the tail of the shirt. "I'm f-fine." She hiccuped, absurdly angry at herself, for the tears would just not stop falling. For some strange reason. Crossing her arms over her chest, she attempted to wipe away the leaking water. She shook her head in response to his question.
Collecting herself, she looked in the face, unable not to admire his facial features for the briefest of moments. And, though that it was obvious in both her face and her tone that she was, indeed, she said. "Look, I'm not crying, okay...?" And then she noticed the intensity of his gaze. And, lo and behold, she discovered that it was definitely two butterflies fluttering around in there. The other one had been hatching. And she had a feeling there were others on the way.
"Thanks." She said in a small voice, ashamed at how helpless she sounded. "Been working out?" She attempted to joke, hoping beyond hope her eyes weren't red. Thankfully, at least, the tears had slowed and halted.

"Just imagine if we weren't dancing right now! We'd be losing a precious story to recal years from now when we need a reminder of exactly how bad we are at dancing." She laughed slightly. After all, everyone needed a embarrassing story to tell of their school years. But Vlaityn thought she'd keep this under her favorite memories section.
Vlaityn listened to his offered help. "Sezer, are you hinting at my lack of skill in that class?" She tried to sound testy before smiling and letting out a short laugh. "I'll take you up on that offer, I promise. I could always use your help."
Nodding politely, Vlaityn tried to make a mental image of Sezer's future plans. "I almost considered doing a Muggle College, er, University, you know, just to get the lay of such a place and the society. But a whole 'nother year with you here, helping with Transfiguration, none the less. It's a pleasant idea." Vlaityn admitted sheepishly. "You can talk me out of my crazy traveling plans."

Sezer laughed quietly. Not a real laugh, mind you, not yet. But it was close enough. "Oh, yes. Years from now we can look back on this and recall how stupid a git I was. A story worthy of the next generation I'd say." Boldly ignoring the sudden coloring of his cheeks, as he did have some issues with revealing tonight, he moved on.
He smirked teasingly. "Why, yes. I believe I was. Vlaityn, you couldn't change a feather into a stone. Good, I'll always be happy to help you. It's always a good idea to pass on knowledge." His smirk dulled to a smile.
"Really? In all honesty, though grandfather and I live near muggles, I have to say they're not very interesting. They're so ignorant, for one thing. Though they can't really help that.. Not that I have anything against them, mind you. They're just not all that intellectual. When you look at it from a wizard's, or witch's," he added, looking pointedly at her, "point of view." He smiled just a little bit more at the last part. "But of course. Who knows? Maybe I'll even get to teach." He grinned smally. "But of course, Vlaityn. My sole purpose in life is to talk you out of your crazy traveling plans. Or, if push comes to shove, I suppose I could always pin you down." He smirked teasingly once more.
