I never had that problem. When I told my mom about the lolita fashion and showed her a dress I liked she thought it was cute. I asked for some lolita dresses for christmas and since they are so expensive she found lolita type outfits X3.

I buy pieces one at a time that are lolita-ish and wear them. My mom when I come out of my room on a normal day wearing them she say's your not wearing that out, it's not casual enough, and when we need to dress fancy it's your not wearing that out it's not dressy enough. She buy's them for me and then I can't wear them outside the house.

I just told my mom. She was like, "Oooh, vintage." and "I didn't know you were that conservative!" She thought Baby, the Stars Shine Bright and Mary Magdalene had cute clothes. She said we could buy some clothes one day, or we could make clothes similar to them. ^^ I can say it came out quite well.[

It was funny when she saw I wanted to wear pink clothes [because of course, I lack pink clothes because I don't really like a lot of pink clothes outside of Lolita.

Yea, the only thing that turned the whole thing a bit sour was this:

"You want to dress up like the Amish!?"

She then laughed. .... Oh well. She liked them.

My mom just call's them all costumes, and say's that she won't let me wear them but I'll just do what I alway's do when she tell's me I can't wear them to school. Take them in a bag and tell her that I'm taking it to show my friends, then put it on when I get to school.

Maybe show her pictures of other well-dressed girls your size,
my mom is very excited about the fashion and thinks it is beautiful (though sometimes she thinks that they are right on the fine line between extrodinarily beautiful and tacky)
Maybe offer to raise your own money for the dresses.
Reassure her that plenty of other people dress like that.
Reassure her it's not a "fetish" like schoolgirls or whatever in case she starts treating you like it.
I don't know, it's hard to talk about it to you when my mom was so responsive.
She even said that she was mad that all stores didn't have clothes like that...

You're so lucky, Navy-chan. (: Both to have parents like that, and a brother to dress Lolita with! ^_^; My brother would NEVER do anything like that. He's so boring. >( Just into sports and schoolwork. But I am at least glad to have parents that tolerate me dressing in Lolita clothing. My mom was really impressed when I got my first clothes from Moitie. (but she won't let me wear certain things except for very special occasions because she says they're too nice. ;;; ) She thinks it's a little extreme sometimes, but she doesn't forbid or disagree with my way of dressing. ^^ Mostly because she is glad that I don't dress like all the other girls who live in my neighborhood, I think. In the summer, they walk around up and down our street in tiny shorts and spaghetti strap tops that bare their midriffs. So when she looks at me sitting there in a knee length skirt with a high waist, a cute puffed sleeve blouse and knee socks... it looks pretty good. sweatdrop

Itried to explain lolita to my mum, and the first thing she said was: "Aren't lolita's.... like.... whores?" =o=;;; I was so mad. I ended up sending her a hugely massive e-mail that explained everything, pictures included. >< She still hasn't mentioned it! TT-TT

That's horrible! She's either embarrassed, or mad, or afraid that you're getting into some weird fetish cult. >O Sometime, ask her if you can buy some new clothes online, and without telling her it's Lolita, have her buy you some Lolita clothes. Then, when she exclaims how cute you look, tell her that it's your new style, and don't elaborate about the name.. "Lolita" sets a lot of people off, sadly. ):

Drywater ♥ Thank you ^-^ Hehe. I have two sibblings, actually. But only my brother dresses in Lolita but also in Konoda. My youngest sister dresses in Decora. xP

But that is good that your mom tolerates Lolita. There is nothing bad about it. It is cute and modest. =) And quit pretty if I do say so. ^-^

Decora is cute, too. ^^ I want to try it one day. It would be more attention-getting than Lolita, though. ): But there's this little Pikachu plushie I've been longing to fasten somehow to my head. xD It sounds like a fun fashion! Someday, I will do it!

I love Kodona. Is he going to be a Dandy or Aristocrat one day? He must be a cute Lolita. whee

i dont have to tell my mom anything she dosent care any more and she shouldnt. im 18.
any ways when i got my meta in she wanted to see what was inside such a fancy package (the wrapper is major cool)
any ways meta makes all there stuff onesize with a corset type thing or some kind of adjustable love somewhere. i asked my mom to tye it and she started pulling it all tight and stuff. im like "ma! its not that kind of dress!"
needless to say shes a litte confused.
