So yeah, i work for Staples... meh, any way, I've been working almost full time, that's why I'm not on much anymore unless it's late in the evening. So any way, they called me in from 5-9 yesterday on my day off because the other guy called out sick, though, I don't have to go in as early as i was scheduled for thursday. Mary, our office supply girl was REALLY SICK today and you could tell it was obvious, but no, the bastards didn't send her home until two hours after i get there, i was OS for the night. Then my manager and I had to take this metal display apart that had the '08 planners on them and the damn thing scratched me. Then the copy center's printer had a paper jam and it took me a while to figure out the damn complicated Xerox machine so the girl could print on it and do her work, after I got that done I wanted to yell at it, so instead i kicked and Yes, gave it the finger, the girl just laughed at me. Than I'm stocking the shelves and I have a CASE of FREAKING PAPER fall right on my foot, I swear at that moment I was ready to cuss out loud, scream and yell and didn't give a damn if there was a customer in the store.

to make it short, the store hated me today... so meh, I say screw you store, get used to it I WORK THERE. *sigh*

Okay, not trying to damper the mood. Just trying to add a bit of reality to this little relationship potluck recipe.

To me unconditional love should really only be given to people who have proven themselves to you (like your parents... or maybe not, depends on your parents) or your children.

Otherwise you're just ASKING to get your heart trampled on and then eaten. Or you'll be used and taken advantage of.

I know it sounds kind of harsh, but you can't go around trusting people willy nilly anymore. You're protecting yourself. If they want your love they need to prove they deserve it and can HANDLE it.

Cause when you have my trust and I love you... It's forever. No matter how many times you ******** up.

(Gah, that sounds so heartless... I don't know if anyone gets the jist.)

Oh, that's pretty much spot on--except that only giving people unconditional love after they deserve it makes it conditional. Unending love--the kind that makes you persevere through all kinds of s**t--isn't unconditional.

It's similar to when I tell my friends I love them. It means, at the very least, that I'll always struggle to see their best qualities even in their worst moments, and that I'll disregard their worst flaws when it comes right down to it.

But that isn't love without condition. Even parental love can only come so close--a child is theirs, and they have no reason to love it, but they do. Sometimes, the child isn't even theirs, and they take it into their hearts and homes. But it's still conditional--at least to start with.

I'm trying so hard to pinpoint unconditional love, and having a very difficult time doing so. Agape is probably closest. *sigh* It just goes to show that there are still so many things I've yet to learn. It's truly refreshing.

Now if only I could learn how to get my boy to pick up a phone and call me.... stare

Oh, I have. Time and time again. It doesn't bother me so much, except maybe in the implication. That I might care more than he cares...which would be fine if I could tone down my affections and he could tone up his. *sigh* We're still finding our own balance.

um proper, meaning usual, not out of the ordinary or what not... and if not then I don't know, so he'll have to post, or at least pm you...
PostPosted: Thu Jul 17, 2008 11:58 am

I'm sorry, I believe I simply misspoke. What I meant is that we are on the right course.

You see, for a while, it seemed as if...there was a great deal of turbulence in our relationship. Even after Monday--definitely one of our best days--when we cleared up almost all confusion we had had, Tuesday and Wednesday (today's yesterday) provided another unique challenge. Suffice to say that text message advice never sounded so sweet.

I won't see him again until Saturday. (Which is tomorrow's tomorrow, if anyone's keeping track.) I think keeping the lines of communication open is important--so we're going to talk tonight.

Things are progressing nicely. I think that might be what I was aiming for with "proper". To be honest, I'll be glad when the drama dies down a little.

Love & Vale,
~Andrew

omfg Yeah, so I just saw the Dark Knight, totally worth going to. I agree Heath Ledger deserves an Oscar for that performance, holy god that was good. Then we're like their for a hour and the power goes out for like 20 min right when it's getting good, ugh, so many things I wanted to yell at the people for. And now we're home and we took everything out of our attic and we're going through the stuff, like my brother's and my own old toys, yeah, bad idea, that's why i came to my room, basically a little kid in a toy store, though the feeling is good, the "Oh I remember those." Like are any of you old enough to remember Mighty Max? eh eh? I can think of Muse and Lion, but any one else, do tell...
