Pulling the glider up, she was able to take advantage of the cold air, letting it push her glider towards the island.
She may of landed in a heap, but she still landed, and went to the shrine, letting the warm feeling of the blessing wash over her.

Back here again.
He remembered, distinctly, that last time he'd careened wildly right off the cliff. So with stupid conviction that he could make it work this time, he tried to achieve a launch without the apparatus.
He bailed at the last second, and the glider tumbled into the fog below.
He felt sick.

He hesitated, and tried again, and this time he was successful.
