Protean was helpless to prevent this next attack, and was forced to fall over backwards and feel the full effects of Taliman''s pinpoint kiai. It felt like an amazingly small, yet extremely strong punch had been placed at the back of his neck, right between the shoulder blades. However, Protean''s fall seemed to go backwards, meaning that he was over Taliman.

After sensing his fall and feeling the pinpoint kiai, the werewolf managed to twist his body so that he was facing his foe as he fell. His claws were unsheathed and his fangs were ready to bite again, this time for Taliman''s shoulder, near his jugular if possible. This bite attack would come a lot harder than the last one, since he bit Taliman''s leg out of surprise.

As Protean fell, his hands were raised to block or at least delay any attack from Taliman''s arms, since his feet were still tied up with knocking down the werewolf. Another aura of white flame surrounded his left one as well, adding more ferocity to the werewolf''s hands and defense attempts.

*Curling his leg back to his body, Tali remains as low to the ground as he can, tucking his right arm to his side and curling his left arm around his right right, as if hiding something.

Protean's bite lands, his powerful jaws clamping down around Wesley's left shoulder, and he winces in pain as he feels the werewolf's teath sink in a little. The wolf would be able to taste a small amount of blood. If he'd bitten a human like that, they probably wouldn't have much of a shoulder to speak of. The Orinian demon's body is much more durable, and it isn't terrible deep, and will heal soon enough.

However, with his jaws clamped around Tali's neck, the fox demon raises his left arm, grasping it around the werewolf's neck, and holding him in place. It is then, that Tali's right hand is placed against his abdomen, palm open. An utterly massive amount of ki can be felt in his right arm. Since Tali is so small compared to Protean, and since he has bitten him after the small demon has lowered so much to the ground, he is likewise hunched over and pretty much on the floor.

Protean will waste time by having to let go, stand, and move. Even if that wasted time is a split second, it is more than Wes needs. Without hesitation, he unleashes a hellacious blast of pure ki energy, an explosion-like attack with no form or shape. Being a werewolf, if he is hit, Protean will more than likely heal quickly, but if this attack lands, it's strength would allow it to easily tear directly through his body, disintegrating everything in its path.*

(Sorry guys.. gotta get going.. stressed *waves and leaves*)

It was just as Protean thought. If he hadn't taken the initiative to prepare a small defense, more than likely he'd be plastered against the top of the arena dome. However, he had taken the time and effort to do. One thing he wasn't about to do was to underestimate his foe.

With his left and white flaming hand, Protean managed to catch Taliman's hand in his grasp, catching it firm and allowing the SoulFire around his hand to absorb and deflect most of the oncoming energy of his foe's ki. It was like an invisible force was pushing up against Protean's aura covered palm, actually lifting him up as he remained clamped down on Taliman's shoulder.

However, he was forced to let go. The force of the ki explosion was simply too much for him to remain there. So the werewolf was sent flying away, although much slower and less far than if he wouldn't have defended himself. Although, he still found that it hurt quite a bit.

Landing perhaps 30 feet away from Taliman, Protean lowered himself to all fours, his breath a little heavy from his efforts in this spar. So far he thought he was doing pretty good, considering who it was he was fighting. But the time to think on accomplishments would come soon enough.

Only about two seconds had passed, since Protean met solid ground again. Taliman was likely to be on the ground yet, although one could never be sure knowing him. But, he was in Protean's sight. After opening his jaws wide, the werewolf unleashed a devastating Sonic Howl.

The very air around and expanding from the werewolf's jaws shimmered and rippled as hugely destructive soundwaves were emitted from it. The waves traveled in a cone, meaning that the farther they traveled the greater the area they would effect. The entire arena seemed to shudder under this onslaught and a trench, starting at five feet wide and perhaps two inches deep and expanding as it went out, was soon carved on the ground, just starting under Protean's chin.

With a great amount of will, Protean was able to keep the white flaming aura around both of his hands. He almost lost them after Taliman's attack, but the fact that they were still around would be a great help later on. His eyes followed his foe's every movement, watching and ready to react should Protean's Sonic Howl not work properly.

((Wait a sec. Didn't you post that his ki striking hand was touching Protean's abdomen? That was what he grasped. The way it was supposed to work was that the flames would catch and deflect most of the blast up to a point. And didn't he have his arm around Pro's neck to keep him in place or something?))

<after the bite. You must take into account the size difference. Werewolf Protean is, what, 8 feet tall? Taliman is 5 feet tall. Imagine that a giant wolf head is clamped down against his left shoulder. Tali is very small, and was very low to the ground. So the wolf is hunched over him anyway.

At that range, Protean couldn't have seen his right hand move, as it didn't have very far to move anyway. Even if he did, at that range, he'd have little room to grab Tali's palm in time to not be shot, and as I said before, he couldn't have grabbed his hand before biting, as Tali was protecting it.

((*head spins* @_@ Holy moly... So it'd be out of his field of vision, even if he did have a defense set up ahead of time? Oi, so confused. But thanks for letting it slide, man. Never thought of that little aspect of the grapple.))
