"Don't drop your guard!" He swung his massive arm, bashing the pair and sending them smashing into the wall. Several operatives circled them and shoved the beam rifles practically down their throats.

Ialo was back on his feet in less than a second. "I'll drop my damn guard when I want to," he hissed angrily. "And I won't leave without my students!" The whites of his eyes had long since turned completely black, and his eyes had slitted.
In the ceiling, a humanoid machine sat awaiting a command. Blank eyes stared out into nothingness, and the only sign of artificial life seemed to be a faint light of recognition in the eyes whenever it heard Ialo's voice.

Chris flipped in the air and landed on his feet. He took a moment to look behind him, and smiled. He turned towards the guns keeping his grin. He pulled out a lighter and flicked the wick lighting it. "you know whats great about fuel lines? They're so dame easy to break, and they take the entire building with them." he chuckled looking at Ialo. "Oh and fun fact the gas doesn't have to touch the flame in order to ignite, and even if you survive the initial explosion your likely to be buried alive. It's really quite amazing."
He kicked behind him unhinging a pipe and pressing his foot to it. "you know how quickly I can crush this pipe? and you know how fast you'll sever the pipe if you shoot us? Lets see ... I can crush it in half a second ... and if you shot me I'm sure your gun will do the job for me. He gave and evil smirk as he toyed with the pipe he held at his foot, kicking it and testing its limits. all the while he held the lighter in front of him.

Suddenly his arms were ripped up and back; tight, Chris couldn't budge. Something definitely had ahold of him.
The beastly figure began to laugh deeply, apparently aware of just what exactly had happened.

"thats it!" He crushed the pipe causing water to hit whatever had a hold of him then he twisted around making it give off the pleasant cracking noise of and arm being broken. then tossing it to the troops in front of him just to see ... nothing crash into the other soldiers. "... wow didn't see that ... literally." he chuckled and ran up the wall grabbing a ledge then swung to the ceilings. "SUCKERS!" he said flipping the bird to them.

Ialo exhaled a breath he hadn't realized he been holding. For a moment he thought this second man was serious, that he really was going to blow up the building. Which, actually might be a good idea, Ialo realized. If he could just notify a friend or someone in his family... But no one was available. Alphonse, not being a blood relation, would be harder to contact and time was of the essence here. So instead, the dragon silently casting a spell, one that Devin had showed him on the first day of school five years ago. Ialo closed his eyes, concentrating, ignoring the weaponry aimed at him. When his eyes snapped back open, he seemed too serene. He still had the upper hand, as far as he knew. As sure as there was a fight breaking out up in the office, Ialo's phone had already sent the orders to the satellites, and one by one, every computer that had ever been associated with the Enlil company was malfunctioning and short-circuiting, and wiping itself clean thanks to several spells that Ialo had rigged. This would certainly prevent any possible sensitive information from further falling into the wrong hands.
Ialo smiled. They were all going down. He glanced to the side, checking the location of Zephyr. He'd be able to take care of himself for a bit, Ialo figured. And if you could fool your friends, you could fool your enemies.
"Suckers indeed. No one is leaving here alive, if that's what it takes to stop this insanity."

Jewlet sighed wondering if this school was always like this and if she would ever finish. She turned her thoughts to her mother and wonder if she made it home ok. 'Smile and be happy.' Her mothers echoed in her head. But could she smile or laugh with out it forced? She was to lost to do that. She then looked down at her doll and thought of her father and all the fun she had. That just made it worse and she sank deeper into her mind.
Ella walked out f the clinic with Kris in her hands. She felt much better and thank the goods for being a healer. She smiled at the students and teacher as they passed them. She looked down at Kris and so far, from what she could tell, Kris hadn't gotten the vampire gene, but wait a good year or two to actually find out.
Valrie ran up to her mom holding food. "Mama, They gave me all this food." She was a little shock by this, she never really was given that much. "Do you want some?" She asked, but Ella shook her head. "Oh, thats right." She then remember what her mother was.

Danni, who'd been staring at Cook's shack for the better part of eight hours, had finally come to peace with what she knew had to be done. She may not like it, the very thought may scare the ever-loving s**t out of her. But if she wanted to maintain control of her own life, it was necessary to do this one thing. It could either make or break her, and she was betting high on the first outcome.
"Night," She said in a strangely calm voice, "I'm about to do something completely stupid and possibly life threatening. I've gotta talk to my folks." With these ominous words, she got to her feet, going over to a desk where paper and pen sat there. Picking up the pen, she wrote a quick letter, using magic to send it to Cook.
It said 'I'm going to face down Pa, if that's what it takes to get you and my magic back. I'm calling them out for a meeting, and depending on how it goes, I may just have to blast down the kitchen door tomorrow. If you don't want me back even then, I'll understand. Just lock the house up, and I'll know I'm not welcome. Don't think it's rude or anything, I'm used to it, so it won't surprise me. Love you forever, Danni.' Not very creative as far as notes went, but there you had it.
With a wave of her hand, it had disappeared, and with another flick of her wrist, a hazy, mirror like substance appeared in front of her face. The next thing she knew, she was looking at her father's face, and he was frowning. "What in the world do you want...Is that you, Isadora? What the hell're you wear-" For the first time in her life, Danni cut him off cold. "I'm officially calling you out father, you and mother. One hour from now, Mystic Fountain High, behind the school. Attendance is mandatory." Without giving her father a chance to speak, she made the mirror disappear, and took a deep breath.
She had one hour to come up with a loophole free arrangement, some way to gain back all she'd lost. To do that she'd have to give as well, but it would be on her terms. She just had to finish everything, and soon. And, she thought with a look at the shack, the sooner the better. She had a family to get back home to. The family that counted, anyway. And for her that was Cook and the three dogs.
She exited the school, and for a moment she just stood there on the front steps, facing the woods with her chin held high. A wind came up briefly, blowing back her blue hair, ruffling her black cloak and sending a chill through the tears in her clothes. This, she thought, was Danni Rinaldi. And she was about to win her freedom back.

"then that is your wish." night bowed and followed her to her father, then outside. "I will defend you ... even if it means using the magic stored in that shire Kai left." He looked at her a second before facing the woods again. "you know ... after this the nether realm is but a whisper away for you. It would do your magic good to actually see where it originated." with that night grew silent stareing at the forest just as Danni did.

An hour later, there was a flash of white light, and Sylvester and Eleanor Rinaldi were standing behind the school. Facing them about ten feet away was Danni, her hands in her pockets, blue hair framing her face, tomboy garb showing under her cloak. "What is the meaning of this, Isadora?" Sly demanded, sounding outraged. Danni merely lifted her chin, eyes glinting with determination. That look alone had Eleanor doing a double take. This wasn't right, she thought. This wasn't the daughter she knew and despised. This was some stranger, some strange girl who dared defy them, who dressed raggedly and spoke with such confidence...This was not the girl they'd managed to wear down to nothing but fear and obedience.
Danni looked her father directly in the eye, her face giving nothing away. As I said, I've called you out father. There are things that need to change, things that should've changed years ago." She said, and Sylvester took a step forward, daring her to retaliate. "What's stopping me from taking your mother and teleporting out of here right now? Or sending your sorry butt to boarding school, for that matter?" He asked, and she smirked despite the fact that inside she was shaking in her boots.
"That might've worked...If I hadn't set up a teleportation blocker soon as you got here. No powers, either, with the magic barrier around us." She said, and Sylvester looked offended. "You would dare block off our powers just because you're in the mood for throwing a fit?" He demanded, and she raised a brow.
"I'm not throwing a fit, father. I'm compromising. I won't live in fear of my own blood anymore, and I won't be punished for things I can't control." She said, betrayal in her voice before she controlled it once more. "As if I would listen to anything you suggest. You're as dumb as a post, child." Eleanor said in her best 'I'm better than you could ever hope to be' tone. She turned to Sylvester, saying, "Come, darling, let us leave. We've wasted a trip, thinking the stupid little chit might actually have something knowledgable to say. Don't contact us again, Isadora, if all you plan to do is waste our precious time." She said, starting to turn.
Danni's eyes glinted, and the dark magic surge was enough to make her parents stop in her tracks. "My name," She said in a voice hard as rock, "Is Danni. You seem to have forgotten that after my fourth birthday." She said, and Sly raised a brow. "We named you Isadora, and shall call you such. It is not your place to correct us." He said, and she gritted her teeth.
"Isn't it? You're the ones in the wrong, the ones who're so caught up in family pride and blood lines, you can't see what's right in front of you! Just listen to me for five minutes, and you'll see I'm not a stupid little chit, I'm not a demon loving nobody, and I'm not worthless." She said, and Sly sighed, looking at the watch on his wrist. "Five minutes. Convince me of...whatever it is you're trying to convince me of. You're on very thin ice, Isadora." He warned, and she took a step forward, starting off with the most effective line she had.
"You loved me once, you know. There was a time you really loved me." That statement alone was enough to have Sly's eyes bugging.

"What?" Sly said, staggering back a step in surprise. "What is that rubbish?" He demanded, and she continued on, her eyes on his, penetrating. "It's true, and you know it. There was a time when I was your precious baby girl, I was your favorite. You called me your little angel, a gift from God. Then, because the fates decided to put this mark on my back, everything changed. On my fourth birthday, this black magic tattoo appeared, and when you saw it you could think of nothing but what others would think." When Sly would've denied it, she held up a hand, ruthlessly continuing to speak.
"For ten years, you've made it your mission to put me down, to make me believe I'm worthless, brainless...better off six feet under and rotting. You've tried to change what I'm fated to be, tried to make me behave a certain way. The timid little daughter, obeying your every whim...I gave that to you, I gave you everything you wanted, but it was never good enough. I was always too ugly, too fat, too short, too tall, too quiet, too loud...The contradictions go on and on...Finding fault with me became your mission in life." She said, and Sly merely sucked in a breath, unable to deny it but wanting to.
"I stopped being your baby girl ten years ago, Pa. As far as you're concerned, that was when your daughter died, only to be replaced by someone you couldn't even bare to look at. Do you remember that day, Pa, my fourth birthday? The whole family was there, and I slipped and fell. My shirt rode up, and everyone could see the tattoo that showed up. Ma tried to kill me with a butcher knife, Aunt Cecilia tried to drown me in the ocean. Uncle Leonard tried to sic his dogs on me, and everyone wanted me gone before I could contaminate the family blood line." She said, then got to the point of her conversation.
"For a decade you've been stuck with me because of legal reasons. An extra mouth to feed, unwanted baggage, you always said. Well, now that can change. This," She said, drawing out a piece of paper from her pocket, "Is a disownment contract." She said, and Eleanor gasped while Sly's hands turned to fists.
"You can read it for yourself of course, but here's the gist of the terms. I stay here until I turn 18. I never come home, I never contact you, I never knowingly associate or connect myself with any Rinaldis besides Ambrose or Lia, since they live here too. I stay out of your lives forever, and it'll be like I never existed in your lives. In return, you never come to me, never contact me. You do not try to control any aspects of my life, which means I'm allowed to use my magic, and consort with whoever I choose, including the cook. I can live where I choose as long as I attend school until my 18th birthday. When you come to visit my siblings, I will be elsewhere. Basically, it'll be as though we're complete strangers, no contact, no interferance, no nothing. As soon as you sign this, my actions will no longer affect the family name, and your actions no longer affect me in any way. All that's left is the John Handcock from both of you. I already signed." She said, holding out the contract even as, out of the corner of her eyes, she saw Cook come out of his shack and start towards them.
Sly cursed under his breath, then took the contract from her, slipping a pen out of his pocket and scrawling his signiature and initialing in a few seperate spots. He then handed it over to Eleanor, who signed and initialed as well. Then she pushed it into Danni's hands again, and Danni in turn took away the teleporation and magic usage barriers. "Well, that's it. You're free of me, I'm free of you..." Now that she had what she wanted, she wasn't quite sure what to say.
Sly finally broke the silence, taking a deep breath before saying, "You...You were mine, for those first four years you were mine. You were...you were right, I did love you. And I lost you the moment that mark appeared. No matter...what a piece of paper says, you're still my blood daughter. I suppose, since we won't be speaking again, that it's ok that I say that...I know I failed you as a father, I know I abandoned you...But some things can't be changed, and I refuse to regret anything." With this uncomfortable admission, he cleared his throat and started to walk away.
"Pa?" She said hesitantly, and when he paused, she took a deep breath. "I know I could never make you proud, but I did try...And I did love you...a whole lot...But I can't change who I am, not even for you." Sly nodded once, with Eleanor teary eyed next to him. In the next instant they were gone, and all she had left was a piece of paper. It was supposed to set her free...She hadn't expected the brief sense of loss that had come with it.

With that night appeared at her side. "Powers as white as snow ... and hearts as black as coal." He placed a hand on her shoulder. "I lay no claims to knowing how you feel but ... I think you will be better off this way" He stepped past her and turned looking at her. "and besides you still have me ,cook, and everyone else. " he told her trying to cheer her up.

"Right," Danni agreed, smiling slightly up at Night. "I love that descriptions for those two, it's dead on." She said, and stuffed her hands in her pockets. "And hey, I've got my magic again, and if all goes well, my room in the shack. If Cook wants me back, that is." She said, shrugging her shoulders slightly.
