Immature Excuse

PostPosted: Tue Feb 02, 2010 5:23 pm

His brows pulled together as his eyes drifted off. Riser. He seemed to be the one behind everything nowadays. He sighed and closed his eyes for a moment, absorbing in the silence between him and her.
It felt like so long since they had been alone together. He wanted to make this moment and every moment of theirs in the future more special than the last.
He turned his face toward her and placed his hands behind her neck and her back. He pulled her close to him, breathed her in.
"Lin," he sighed, "I feel like I'm at a risk of losing you every time I'm not around. If you're not in existence, I don't know what I'll do with myself," his pace quickened. "My love for you... it's so hard to explain. The most beautiful of all creatures-- angels, yes. My love, our love..." Dymetri inhaled slowly. He let out the hush of air and spoke properly. "Our love is so beautiful that it would torment an angel to insanity."
As he uttered the last words, he knew exactly what he wanted to do. To make him completely hers, and vice versa. He looked into her eyes, and through that look she should of known what he wanted.
His mouth slowly touched hers, in the way that a first kiss would. It was hesitant, but still familiar at the same time. His hands left her body and he helped himself shrug off his jacket and unbutton his shirt. His hands were back on her body and his mouth was acting by itself, knowing exactly what to do with Lin's-- most likely from so much practice. He reached to her back and quickly found the ribbon tying together her beautiful dress. Oh, he noted in his mind, I should tell her that it looks amazing on her. He pulled the ribbon off. Oh. Maybe later.
His lips paused for a moment, moving only to utter the words, "Holy s**t." His eyes were completely fixated on the newly exposed skin. It soon, though, just gave him the feeling of wanting to do naughty and possibly illegal things with her.
But no, this was supposed to a romantic night.
He'd leave the kinky stuff for a later time.
Dymetri took a chance and slid his hands to her chest. As his lips began moving again, he tasted a fiery passion in his own mouth that influenced other parts of his body. He gambled, moving his hands lower and lower until he reached the prize. He moved his lips to her neck, kissing and massaging her skin until it grew sore. Moving his hands up again, he noticed he was being slightly too rough.
He smelled blood.
Dymetri looked down at his hand to find that there were bits of glass on it. Looking for the source, he saw Lin's necklace, which previously held her pure Elven spring water. It was broken, and it's remains were now on his hand, including the water.
Which was burning him. Almost eating the flesh from his hand. In fact, that was exactly what it was doing.
And it was spreading throughout his entire body, fast.
It started with his hand. As the water burnt through his flesh, it turned to ash and fell to the ground in front of Lin like glitter. Soon, his entire body was falling to ash, and Dymetri barely felt it all.
When he finally realized what was happening, he looked up at Lin with huge eyes. They weren't pleading, but regretful. He should have been more careful.
Lin.
For the first time in ages, he felt his eyes begin to pour over with tears.
Lin.
He wanted to speak, wanted to say sorry. Wanted to tell her that her dress looked amazing, that she was beautiful, that it was okay.
Oh, Lin.
He wasn't able to speak, but he knew that his entire body was gone already. With as much possible strength as he could spend, he kissed the forehead of the girl he was madly in love with for what it seemed like the last time.
The lips that were still pressed against her skin fell to the floor along with the other bits of ash. A small sigh was heard, and it sounded like him, but it wasn't really all that determinable.
Dymetri was gone.

Lin had gladly accepted Dymetri's embrace, and when her eyes gazed into his, she knew what he wanted. She had never had an experience like this before, but her instincts told her what Dymetri wanted.... and she wanted it to. So much. She didn't care that they weren't married. An elven marriage would never happen between them.

She wanted to be with him. She loved him so much, and she felt and heard his love for her.

When he removed her dress, she was self-conscious for a few brief moments. She had never been naked before a man before, but his awed look at her, his appreciative gaze upon her quickly dispelled any uncomfortableness.

She had cried out softly a few times as Dymetri paid special attention to certain areas of her body. It hurt slightly, but it felt too good to have him stop. And he was always right there, holding her hand, kissing her, taking care of her. She cupped the back of his head and actually guided it closer to her body, to certain points that felt especially sensitive. She wanted him closer, inside of her somehow. The need was beginning to take over her, and whenever Dymetri looked at her, the love blazing in his eyes for her nearly consumed her completely.

But then, something odd happened. Yes, Dymetri had been a little rough, but it didn't hurt Lin all that much. She was too consumed with all of the good sensations she was feeling. But in his roughness, Lin realized that Dymetri had broken her vial. Her vial of magical spring water from her home. No.... No! It was vital to her, and it was dangerous to...

Lin looked up quickly and gasped as she saw blood fill Dymetri's hand. They seemed to both look down at his hand at the same time and then at each other. Tears filled Lin's eyes and she began to slowly shake her head.

"No... Dymetri, no..."

And then, his body began to turn to ash. To dust. He was disappearing before her eyes. The most beautiful time in her life was turning into her worst nightmare.

She felt his lips against her forehead, and she reached out to grab him, to bring him back. But there was nothing to grab onto. Nothing now. There was nothing before her. No one. She couldn't feel Dymetri anymore. She couldn't sense him anywhere around the campus.

Her breathing was coming out very rapidly, and tears were pouring down her cheeks, even though she didn't realize it.

He couldn't be dead, he couldn't... She reached forward where the dust was and very lightly ran her hands through it. It was just like any other type of dust. He was gone...

She stopped herself quickly and gasped. Wait! They were all magical creatures! Dymetri could be brought back! Professor Akakios had that power!

So, Lin quickly put her dress back on and then knelt back down by the dust. She began to scoop up small sections and put it in her potion thigh holster. Each holder was solid, had no holes, and had a cloth top she could tie down on top of the openings. She did just that. She would have her professor bring her love back. That was all there was to it.

When she was done gathering a few samples, she straightened up, wiped her tear-stained cheeks with the back of her hands, and plastered on a smile. She needed to go to the funeral first. She needed to be there for Ambrose. Then she would talk with Professor Akakios.

So, slowly, Lin began to walk through the forest and then came out near the funeral area.

Kai snapped back to the real world his actual body was still leaning up against the door frame as he looked at Ialo. "huh you awake yet Ialo?" he asked in a calm voice as he walked towards the bed his white steel trimmed boots made a heavy thud with each step.

(sorry I've not replied this is going pretty fast and the only real way I can get on is by using the jaws of life on my brother and the computer ._.)

"Heh." Ialo slowly sat up in the bed. His head felt kind of light, and the room was spinning slightly. The longer he was up though. the quicker it went away.

"I dunno, feels kinda like a dream - or a nightmare. Danni's funeral is tonight, right? I have to be there, no matter what. I can't break my record." Memories surfaced, and Ialo winced. They were so important, and so painful too. Some were rainy days, some were cloudy days... And in all of them, he was wearing black and dropping a single white lily into the grave of a classmate. He hated the thought of having to add another name to that list, even five years later.

He forced himself to smile. "I should really get this blood out though. It's going to stain my hair pink...."

((Ok, time to catch up...))

Cook looked over when Athena approached, teeth bared, eyes smoldering. He said nothing for a moment, only placed a hand atop her head, pulling on a jacket as he shifted a bunch of lanterns he'd found in his other arm. "What you can do," He said in a voice that was too careful, too forced to be ignored, "Is pray to whatever God you know and help me set up these lights." He said, and then went about the duty himself, seeing that many people had shown up already, if out of nothing but pure curiosity.

After twenty minutes, the clearing was lit up with torches, flashlights, and some old spotlights he'd dug out of storage, with candles glittering in the dark. Beside the stone bearing her name, there was a picture of Danni, the only one Cook possessed of her. She was in the kitchen in the picture, leaning against the stove with her hair scooped back and flashing a brilliant blue. There was a smear of flour on her cheek, and her grin was a mile wide as she held up a tray of steaming cinnamon rolls in front of her. It had been the first day she'd cooked in the kitchen without his help, the first recipe she'd memorized. And that night they'd gone home and stuffed themselves with sweet, sugary cinnamon rolls.

With a wince of disgust, Cook saw that most of the students who gathered here had eyes glittering with excitement and speculation, and among them were those who'd seen Danni brought out of the woods that morning, bloody and lifeless. Of course they talked, as teenagers did, with no respect for the dead who lay mere feet from them in a casket yet to be buried. There were those whose eyes lit up with mystery when they suggested a spell gone horribly wrong. But it was the word 'suicide' that weaved its way through the crowd, passing from person to person like a whispered chant.

Lin saw that people were starting to arrive at the funeral and lanterns were being lit. Lin took a very deep breath and started to move forward. The funeral shouldn't be too hard since she was going to have Professor Akakios bring back Dymetri. So, her focus would be completely on Ambrose, trying to help him.... if he wanted her help. He knew that Lin was never a fan of his sister, but Lin hoped that he would accept her comfort.

Lin was in the crowd now, much larger than she thought it would be, and was looking around for Ambrose.

Kai gave a chuckle and poked Ialo's forehead as he rose from the bed. "you worry to much Ialo, we aren't going to lose her unless the ancients pull some reckless maneuver, and chances are they aren't going to pull anything stupid to ruin their chances of killing a lord of the underworld."

With a single graceful move he turned on his heel and strode too the door, but before he walked out he looked back at Ialo with a grin "c'mon the sooner we get things settled the sooner I can have you meet my family."

Ambrose was there, in the back of the crowd, his eyes dark as he let his classmates words run right over him. His eyes focused on the stone first, the pictures beside it, before trailing slowly, reluctantly over to the casket. His little Izzy was in there, he thought, and found he had no more tears left to blink back at the moment.

When he spotted Lin, he blinked in recognition, his head tilting to the side a bit. She seemed to be looking for someone. Normally he'd have had a fine time pretending it was him she was looking for with that expression on her face. But what, he wondered, was she doing here?

Here, where black magic stained the air thanks to what had been inside the shack, and where grief was pushed aside in favor of speculation. He thought of Lia, tucked safely away in Lin's home, grieving in her own limited way. That's where Lin should be, he mused, tucked away safe and sound. Maybe in his pocket. She shouldn't be here, with death and blood still staining the ground.

With this in mind, he weaved through the crowd as if on autopilot. When he reached her, her back was to him, so he reached out and took her arm, drawing her aside. "Who're you looking for today, lovely Lin?" His voice was rough with emotion, but his touch was gentle as he drew her out of the crowd of people.

Lin turned around when she felt a hand on her arm and heard Ambrose's deep voice behind her. She smiled softly and somewhat sadly at him. She was glad that she had tucked her broken spring water pendant under her dress so that Ambrose wouldn't notice it.

She spoke softly and soothingly. She rested her hands on Ambrose's forearms. "Hello Ambrose. I am here to see you. I heard about your sister and... I will completely understand if you do not want me here, but I wanted to come and be here for you if you would let me."

Athena growled in frustration. That was most certainly not what she wanted to hear. She wanted was to do something to get Danni back, because she knew Danni could not be dead naturally and that whatever had happened was the fault of something deeper. She would do whatever it took to fix it. She angrily and unhappily helped Cook set up the lights. The job was done quickly.

She didn't remember the Dust in her pocket.

It was then that Sly stepped up to the front of everything, just in front of the hole in the earth, and cleared his throat, his voice carrying through the night.

"If I could have your attention, we would like to start the services now. In following with Rinaldi family history, before we place the...my daughter into her final resting place, we have people who would like to speak. And anyone who would like to speak after them is welcome to step forward. As her biological father, I would like to start." He paused for a moment, seeming to collect himself. After a few moments of tense silence, he looked up, at the faces who'd shown up to see his daughter put in the ground, and found the words.

"My daughter's name was Isadora Danni Rinaldi, and she turned fifteen just after the new year. All of you knew her for about a year, some of you less than that. But I...I knew her when she was so small she couldn't walk or talk, when she had no magic to speak of. And she, my Izzy...She was an angel, and the light of my life. I know many of you only know of the...the blunt tomboy who went around with a chip on her shoulder. And that's what she wanted everyone to see. But I...I knew her when she was small and...a Daddy's girl. She loved hearing fairy tales with happy-ever-after endings, and she used to have me put bows in her hair. She laughed, all the time, and..and she always...always smiled like she knew something the rest of us hadn't quite caught onto yet. She was afraid of thunder storms, and her favorite game in the world was...'D-Daddy Toss Me High'. She trusted easily, sure I'd always...catch her. That was the Izzy, or the Danni, that I hold in my heart. And that's the girl I loved, with all I had." He paused for a moment, seeing the confusion on some of the people's faces.

"But as much as I loved the little girl, I loved the half-grown version as well, if not as much, not as openly. I loved the rebel tomboy who tore her clothes and dyed her hair, and I loved the girl who would insult you one minute, but then grin at you the next when no one else was looking. The world...gave her a heavy load, and she hardened under it instead of breaking. Izzy would never let herself break, for she was never something so fragile. She was more like...glass. Enduring and enduring until she just...snapped. And instead of understanding that, I pushed her away, which is something I'll...always regret. I'm telling you this so you understand that she had two different sides to her, two different lives. And neither one of them ever made me ashamed, deep in my heart, to have her as a daughter. Because the one thing she never did was turn her back on anyone who needed her. That's not something I can say for everyone...Thank you." He murmured, and stepped back, letting his words be absorbed.
