[ I'd just like to point out something about anime clubs across the globe. Not all are full of Japanophiles! I'm the vice president of my anime club, and I'm taking it over next year when the president graduates. While a couple of Japanophiles do lurk, and trust me, I have my share of stories about the kids who speak Animese, most of us watch anime because of our interest in Japan. Almost all of our members are enrolled in a Japanese class of some level. For me, I'll be finished with my fourth year next semester and our president is finishing her fifth year now. She watches Naruto and does manage not to be a total retard about it. I know this thread is for ranting about Japanophiles, but I'd just like to bring attention to the fact that some people who obsess over anime aren't perpetrators. ]

この世を司るように出された・・・・・・・・・・・・To be honest, I think I used to be one of those people! Well, not to the extent that I'd go around correcting people on stupid petty s**t like anime pronunciations and little crap like that, but I was hella obsessed with Japan to the point of just LONGING to be there based MERELY on what I saw in fictional media. I believe there is some level of that Japanophile within ALL of us, or at least there was in the beginning. My "buzz" actually started with video games, not anime, but I was hooked all the same.
I don't really have any problems with those complusive Japan freak types, but those lil Japanese particle enders on the end of English sentences can be pretty irking. I mean a few "yo" and a couple of "ne" here and there I can deal with, but it's different to use it in excess; that is in EVERY SINGLE THING YOU SAY!!! But hey... What can ya do? confused ・・・・・・濤萬凪汰冴眞(どうまなぎ・だざま)!!

Aiko_589 alucard_the_no_life_king not trying to tick people off here but besides that maybe the people that just happen to be manga and anime freak....ahem like my self also wanna go there to learn about the culture and um i don"t know actaully wanting to turn there hobby or freakishly obsession in to manga and anime and so on like i understand what you guys are saying and stuff but geez some of them might just want to go there and make a living and actually apricate japan"s history and its culture ect.) sothats no reason to chew them out exclaim exclaim but as i said i understand your point some people should keep some of there comments to them selfs and stop being nimrods! scream ok good for you. i just hope you know something about the japanese immigration system. この世を司るように出された・・・・・・・・・・・・Oh yeah! Speaking of which that's another thing! Those Japanophile guys seem to often have the dream in their minds that they are just gonna up and move to Japan and completely nationalize one day so they can do some kind of "in" thing that they'd prolly NEVER be accepted enough to be allowed to do (e.g. drawing or playing in a JRock band for a living). They go on with this big a** delusion like it's just really gonna be that simple, failing to realize the fact that they are outsiders and human history would show that no person unlike a larger group of others was just openly accepted as apart of that group that easily with no hold-ups whatsoever. One thing EVERYBODY has to accept is simply this before ANYTHING else: YOU WILL NEVER FIT IN!!! Truth is with what a person is raised on all their lives before acting on moving to Japan is that they prolly wouldn't WANT to fit in (some of you may have heard this stuff somewhere before xd )! ・・・・・・濤萬凪汰冴眞(どうまなぎ・だざま)!!

THANK YOU AIKO FOR THIS THREAD!!
I hate it when these Japan obsessed Anerican youth talk all this crap of... "I hate America and Japan is better!'
First off, I love Japanese culture just like I love any culture. But atleast I know Japan is not some anime/manga fantasy land. I have actually taken the time to study about Japan and the people (something I have been doing since I was 14). I don't use Japanese words when speaking to English speaking people, but know how to make a sentence in Japanese compared to some otaku.
Not only that, about the dubbing. I actually perfer dub. To be honest, some of the original Japanese voice acting can sound terrible.
I know this one guy, he is a good friend. But sheesh, he is not even into American things eek . He's all I only date Japanese girls and I will vote for Emperor one day. rolleyes
Then when I got explaing to him the process it takes to become a Japanese citizen, and how you have to get a Japanese name and how foriegners are treated and such. He doesn't want to go know XP
To me, the ones like you just explained Aiko really put a shame and disgrace to the Japanese.
That's my word...

My name is Tomi...To and mi yet it's fine to say 'Well Tonny's an easier name'...just brush off something like that is very disrespectful. At LEAST try a bit harder before you go on about why can't it be an english name.

You like Bchan because... I was unfortunately one of those dumb people until people like you guys come around and explain these things to me. sweatdrop
But I've learned thankfully, and though I don't posts stupid comments like that, I probably thought it. But like I said, I've learned. Espicially because of people that point those things out. Very enlightening and thanks for the awesome thread! <3
(I can't believe I used to be that stupid x_x) lol

Okay I have to say "Yes" Anime is what introduced me to the Japanese culture and I do watch Anime (although I do hate the subtitles sometimes...=/) but some friends of mine are total Japanophiles, they think that just because they know what anime is THAT THEY KNOW HOW JAPAN IS when they've probably never even read anything about the Japanese culture, especially what ticks me off is that they see a chinese restaurant and think Japan! Anime! the same goes for chopsticks or sushi stare , Also one of them which I mostly only hang out with out of sheer boredom has traced out of How-To-Draw-Manga books since he was like 10. Also they are totally mesmerized over the thought of being "Otaku" all the damn time! When they can barely pronounce the word. Another person who ticks me is my younger step-brother who thinks Taki (Which I believe means "Waterfall" I may be wrong XP) is said Tac-e stare thats what really really flares me I mean it's not that hard to say! And I may be new to the language of Japan but I study alot about the Culture. (which has always fascinated me.) And last but not least there very stubborn so they think that whatever I say they SHOULDN'T listen to even if I state the most truthful facts, and also they dream of going to Japan one day and hitting all the Otaku places every day not even thinking a drop about a job or there apartment (especially since I know how difficult it is to get even a small apartment in Tokyo lets say if your coming from a country outside of Japan.) Anyway my rantings done ^^

SuzuChan I know a few lame people that just want to move to Japan for anime/manga... That's so dumb. No one there is going to appreciate someone who just moved there because of cartoons and comics. I mean, yes, I watch anime occasionally, and I like manga more... but I'm not obsessed. I'm interested in Japan and Japanese for the culture, I like the language, etc. Not because of anime and manga. stare Most of those people who only like Japan/Japanese for anime/manga end up making themselves look like fools in the end. It also annoys me when I pronounce something correctly in Japanese, then some anime freak Japanophile comes along and yells at me for not saying something "correctly", when indeed I did say it properly. Of course, they only know their useless anime words, and obvious words like "baka" and "kawaii". I say don't try to speak Japanese or any other language unless you're actually planning on learning to speak it well... I can't stand when people run up to me and start saying "omg that's so KAWAII!!!" *sigh* 胸糞が悪い... I'm with you on this... although it was anime that got me into learning japanese, but I don't watch anime anymore. But I still continued to learn Japanese.
