Sailor Troilus, Basic Senshi of Enthusiasm
Location:
Reception

Okay, well, that was just rude.

"Stop laughing at me," he said, pouting into the air behind him where he'd definitely just heard someone giggling at him. "I'm trying my best!!"

He only saw a fading shimmer, so that was definitely a ghost making fun of him. Rude!! Uncalled for!!! He sighed aggressively and rubbed his eyes, staring at the doors some more.

Until the shattering pot made him jump. He went over to look and frowned at the indented spheres.

"Soo... Three people with one buttcheek sit in these, or something?" he asked aloud.

Obviously that wasn't the answer, but he made his way through life by being funny.

Halle Knight of Lysithea

"If it's sentient, then it could want almost anything under the sun," Halle sighed. "That would mean it's a person and people are a lot harder to deal with than locks." Almost absently, his fingers slid again a spine that felt oddly fixed into place. He tried pulling on it firmly until it finally gave way, accompanied by an audible click! He definitely heard something move somewhere!. Even better, a coin slid from the book and into his hand.

Was this actually some kind of puzzle?

Turning to Santa Marie, grinning a bit smugly, Halle opened his mouth to ask if he'd heard that when there was a sudden rattling sound by the other boy. "You okay?"

Mauvian Illyria

As Illyria poked her nose into some of the plants that still seemed to be flowering, somehow, the smell of rot invaded her nostrils. Her back arched up in shock as she pulled away from the scent. It was then that the coloration difference caught her eyes and she frowned.

Why do I not like the sight that I am seeing, or the smells associated with these plants? Why is this patch of ground being affected by this nastiness when the other areas seem just fine?

Following her instincts Illyria continued to back away from the scent of rot before focusing her powers. While she wasn't attacking a barrier at all, would the Moon really appreciate the fact that she was going to attempt ridding itself of a problematic patch of foulness?

A beam of light shot forth from the star on her forehead towards the base of one of the plants that seemed to be both unsightly and foul in nature. The resulting wave of fatigue was familiar and it was with a slight wobble that Illyria made to return to the reception area.

Sailor Monch

As everyone began poking, prodding, and doing even more magic, Mönch decided it was time for her to...! Well she had no idea, really, but it was important to make an effort and contribute to the Team Spirit! Finally going to join the gang at the magic barrier, she considered what she had done so far and was capable of right now:

☑ cheering
☑ snacking
☑ making new friends
☐ magic

Yes, she hadn't used her magic! But hmmmm...did it seem hungry for popcorn? Would it get mad when the popcorn vanished? Oh but wait! She did have a magic wand, right? Kinda?

Bringing out her henshin pen, Mönch pressed it against the reception room barrier, encouraging it with a cheerful,"Hey, like, can you use this to transform into an open door?" It had transformed her from a girl into a magic girl, so why not?!

Santa Maria Novella, Squire of Ganymede
Location: Library but heading for the reception hall, has a pretty crystal.

"Humans are greedy, generally speaking, it's human nature. But it isn't human, it's still a door, it may lack in greed. It may simply be protective - it is a door after all." Looking at the vase sitting on the table his hand had knocked against he took a moment, staring, he wondered if he should really do anything about that. The vase had rattled, something was inside of it. It was just a vase, it could have anything in it, but curiosity did take hold of the squire. Anything could have fallen into the vase overr time...but someone also could have tried to hide something in it, as unlikely as that was. He reached into the vase and as his fingers brushed against the crystal, curled around it, he saw a flash of...something.

"Crsent moon..." A golden cresent moon. While someone else, someone who cared and knew more, might know what it meant oir have some clue - he was not that person. He just knew what he'd seen

Turning slowly, ignoring Halle for a moment, he looked back the way they'd come. Slowly he headed that way, back the way they'd come. "Reception room..." The crystal was held tightly in his hand, kept close to his chest, as he walked with short hurried steps, almost a hurried shuffle, glancing over his shoulder as he was moving for the door. "Coming? You don't need to." Be he did assume Halle would, the other was determined to get him participating in things and having him put in effort, hence why he was even here. So he assumed the other would want to follow him, maybe even proud he was doing something on his own?

Halle Knight of Lysithea

Vaguely, Halle wondered if Kinsey talked to inanimate objects more often than he talked to people. He seemed to have a higher opinion of their personalities, at least. As he followed the other boy, intrigued to see him suddenly taking the lead, he peered curiously at what Santa Maria was carrying.

"Is that an orb? Did you seriously just find a wizard orb on the moon?"

"Crystal, not an orb." He corrected while giving a better look at it, letting it catch whatever light was around for it to catch. "An odd hiding place." Was something, or had someone in the past, decided to play hide and seek with them with these objects? He didn't voice that aloud, it didn't matter, as he led the way and turned his pale eyes onto the other.

"Wizard orb...this isn't dragon lance and I'm not Raistlin." Rolling his eyes as the words slipped past his lips, already knowing the other wouldn't get the refrence. Who his age would even? "Never mind." Already hoping to other wouldn't pry, wanting to understand what he didn't know and wouldn't know.

Sailor Tempesti

Tempesti stared up at the sky, trying to hold back her horror at the realization that she could still see the storm from here. Before she could let herself ponder the significance of that fact, she felt the faintest shift in energy and saw multiple people heading toward the spire. Curiosity piqued (and feeling more than a little inclined to save her return to the view of the storm for later), she followed suit and hurried after them.

As she entered, she realized that some of the others were carrying crystals. Embarrassed that she’d turned up nothing but an uneasy feeling, she stood by while the others attended to the holes. It was obvious what was necessary, any intervention on her part would just get in the way.

Arcalís, DSS of Adversity
Location: Library.

Although Arcalís refused to disentangle his hand from Madriu’s, he still did his best at checking the different books for anything. Mostly, he came up with nothing. But when one of the books caught, fighting back against his efforts to tug it loose, he made a soft, bemused sound. He didn’t manage to get it out, but he did catch the silver coin that came tumbling out.

“……Huh,” Arcalís said, wondering at the thing and holding it up for Madriu to see. “Lex, look at this. Do you think……?” Arcalís paused and hummed pensively. “Maybe we should join the others, but then……” He wrinkled his nose in the way that he always had when he and Madriu had been children together, the way that signified he was thinking very deeply and weighing his options. “……It might not have anything to do with the barriers out there, actually, y’know? Like, why hide something related to those passages in the library?”

It simply didn’t make sense to him.

“But maybe there’s something in here where this might fit…… Some place where it might be a key?”

Moving with purpose, Arcalís tugged at Madriu’s hand. He hadn’t done something like this in ages, but……only because they hadn’t been around each other for him to do it. When they’d been younger, Arcalís had tugged Madriu along with him like this countless times. Right now, they needed to go search, to see if they could find anything in the library that matched with the crescent moon symbol coin. Even if it didn’t help anything with the barriers, maybe they would find something else that could assist with the larger problem of the oncoming world-eater.

Deep Space Super Sailor Pyrrhus
Location: Reception

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Pyrrhus snapped back at Thalassa, with a roll of his eyes.

"It didn't hit me," Pyrrhus said, "not really. It's like it...reflected my magic, and that other Senshi's, the one with the sparkles, right back at me?"

Not much of an explanation, but more than nothing.

Of all the things Pyrrhus had expected, what he got wasn't it.

A hand, reaching back, trying to lace its fingers with his. Something that....forgave him. Perhaps for his rash actions attacking the barrier, perhaps for....he didn't know. Something else. There was a lot he'd done wrong over the course of his far-too-extended life. And the desperation, the need for--something--

That was a feeling he knew all too well. Pyrrhus was no longer a soft man, no longer the kind of person who could be gentle or kind--or at least, he didn't feel like he was, anymore. And yet, still, it was reaching for him.

"I'm sorry," he said, softly, to the barrier. "I don't know how to help you."

And maybe he was sorry, somewhere deep down. Maybe he wished he could be more like Troilus.

He whipped his head to Thalassa, though, when he tried his magic, and as soon as he saw his friend begin to collapse, he darted over, kneeling down to try and catch him.

"Oh," he said, "I'm a ******** idiot, but here you ******** go," he said. "Troilus is the only one with a functional ******** brain between the three of us, I swear." Still, the hands that held Thalassa's shoulders were gentle, because this was one of Pyrrhus's People.

Deep Space Super Sailor Madriu
Location: Library

The book of crosswords Lex found was briefly flipped through, and then set aside with a sigh. He'd have loved a puzzle like that, if he could read the language--but alas, not today. Instead, it was Arcalis who found something far more of interest, and he moved close to take a look at the little coin.

"Mm, it's worth at least taking a look here," he agreed. "If we don't find anything they're connected to, we can go back, and if not there...hold onto it." His tail swished, and he took a brief glance around, but as soon as Arcalis tugged, Madriu went.

It was instinctive, really, to follow where his partner led.

He, too, kept an eye on the area around him, helping to search for anything the coins might slot into or be attached to.

Thalassa, DSS of Exhaustion
Location: Reception Area.

“Troilus, stop pretending to be stupid! It’s not ******** funny!”

Putting himself on the floor because his own magic rebounded at him was hardly Thalassa’s proudest moment. The burning under his skin stung almost as much as his pride ached from the sheer embarrassment of hurting himself more than the magical barrier. Gods help him, he loved Imnolu. Troilus. That specific little s**t with the curly little fuzzball tail, no matter if he was powered up or not. But between the exhaustion and the wounded pride, Thalassa wasn’t in the mood to suffer Troilus making himself smaller and pretending he wasn’t one of the cleverest people Thalassa knew.

Collapsed in a heap on the floor, he sort of didn’t want to move. The fact that Pyrrhus had tried to catch him made Thalassa feel like he probably should have? But also, that sounded like a lot of effort right now. It felt like a huge ask for him to lift one arm and wave it in Pyrrhus’s general direction while making a series of dissatisfied grumbling noises, then sarcastically echoing back Oh, Troilus is the only one with a functional ******** brain between the three of us, nyeh nyeh nyeh nyeh nyeh nyeh nyehhhh. Frankly expending that effort on being an a*****e—in the way of his that was meant to show affection, even if Thalassa didn’t like admitting it—made Thalassa feel significantly less inclined to get up off the floor.

Not because Thalassa’s own magic was negatively affecting him, though. He was the senshi of exhaustion. That state of being didn’t affect him! He was built to withstand any such exhaustion! The way he’d fallen over—despite some invisible hands trying to catch him in addition to Pyrrhus—that wasn’t a sign of Thalassa being exhausted. He was perfectly fine and all was well and he could get off this stupid floor any time he wanted, thank you.

Which was why, after a moment of silence, Thalassa rolled over onto his back and squinted up at Pyrrhus in an approximation of normal conversation behavior. “Were you talking to that thing or did I hallucinate that,” he grumbled, kneading his fingertips into his temples. “And who the ******** was Troilus talking to while yelling about how he’s trying his best? Did that useless Moon Queen actually leave behind ghosts to haunt the ******** place or some s**t?”

The Space Cauldron
No investigation, just a disclaimer: Please read Thalassa’s garbage in the same tone as a toddler insisting that they aren’t sleepy and they don’t need to go to bed. He 100% got hit by the rebound, he’s just a huge brat. 💖

Dejanira’s examination of the spire would yield an interesting observation on the ceiling; high above and far out of reach, it looked like there was a deep cut in the ceiling in the center of the domed ceiling. Even in the shadows, she could make out what looked to be old scorch marks.

Coco would find that a quick glance around the pedestal yielded very little information; she might note the expert craftsmanship and seamless construction, but nothing immediately stood out. Aberdonia had been able to spend some time around the pedestal already, and though he wasn’t able to make out any immediate details that stood out, a strange hum of energy–encouraging, warm, excited–briefly vibrated through him after the suggestion.

Next to him, as Karaka scanned the spire she might notice the way a strange light seemed to sometimes reflect off of the broken glass shards scattered over the ground. The dime-sized light bobbed in and out of view, appearing for only a second before flickering out of sight. It never appeared in the room itself, only the broken glass.

As Selenga investigated the pedestal, he might notice that–despite the meticulous symmetry–one Moon symbol was just slightly tilted. It was almost entirely flat and would have been easy to miss if he weren’t scrutinizing it in great detail. When he pressed it, something clicked–

In front of Lacille, a hidden slot opened up. A spherical, silvery crystal rolled from the compartment, gently hitting Lacille in the foot. When she picked it up, she would see a sudden flash of a golden crescent moon. She would have an immediate understanding that this did not belong here. A clear image of the Reception Hall–and the pedestal next to Aruna, as if the Moon was telling her to go there and place the orb in one of the slots. There was a sort of desperation–this was urgent.

Erytheia would feel his sword slot into place at the same time. His weapon was obviously a different shape than whatever had once been sheathed in the stone but it served the purpose; something else clicked into place. In front of the Knight, a small USB shaped item ejected from the stone. A golden crescent moon was engraved on the front, and as soon as he touched it he too would feel an intense summoning to the Reception Hall. An image of the Corinthian style pedestal next to Aruna flashed in his mind with great urgency.

-

In the library, as Urania investigated the artifacts in the library, she might note that while some of them did seem to have artistic value, some seem almost as if they are poor replacements or shoddy imitations. If she touched one, she might note that it crumbled immediately to dust despite having appeared to be a small, metal sculpture. While observing this artifact, Urania would see a brief, glitchy memory–a shadowy figure picked up the original artifact and placed it in a bag, swapping it out for a perfect visual replica. She might have the unique impression that there were still valuable artifacts here, but someone had made a concentrated effort to slip some of them out from the library. There was a faint hum of magic in the area, but it faded with the memory. Urania could say with certainty that there were secrets here, just out of reach. It would take more than one night to uncover them, but the Moon seemed to want help.

Arcalís’ effort to investigate further was met with some difficulty; though there were many books in the library, most of them seemed to be incredibly specific topics. Though many of the texts were written in other languages, some of them were readable, though they ranged from recipe books to restaurant reviews and art piece essays that were impossible to understand without the cultural references. It was safe to assume that the majority of the books in the library might only have value in specific situations. There were simply so many books that it was impossible to go through or investigate them, or what they might be hiding. However, due to the extremely vast array of books in other languages, it might also have been safe to assume that there was a purpose for filling the library with so many books. If there were other things to be found here, they were very well hidden. Madriu had less luck in making any observations, but at least he had good company.

-

As she left the garden, Illyria would not see the effect of her Mauvian laser as she left the garden, but she had successfully culled the strange, infected plants. There were others in the garden, but she had done her part, and the Moon would certainly remember her efforts.

-

In the Reception Hall, while Troilus was unable to identify anything in particular, he again heard a faint laughter–only, this time it felt like he had an invisible audience waiting to hear more.

Though Fang did not have a particularly striking ‘lightbulb moment’, the longer he stared into the barrier, the more peaceful he felt. For all the anxiety, all the stress, all the nerve-wracking worries, something here seemed to want to reassure him that it was okay. He was where he needed to be. The pieces would fall into place.

Solaris would find that there was almost no sign that there had ever been a key pad by the door; either someone had expertly removed them during construction, or the Moon Kingdom’s incredible technological skills were evidently hiding so much more.

Aquitania might notice that the pedestal was not just placed against the wall–it seemed mounted to it. It would have been impossible to lift the corinthian style pillar and at first it might have been easy to assume it was because of its weight, but close examination would reveal that it had been deliberately fixed to exactly this spot. It was meant to stay here–permanently.

While Aruna received no response, she might feel a sense of urgency. As Realta placed the crystal in one of the hollows, it clicked into place perfectly. The orb lit up, shimmering brilliantly. While the crystal was almost totally clear on its own, once it was placed on the pedestal, it sparkled as if full of silver glitter.

Mönch’s effort to power up the barrier must have meant something to the Moon. Her Henshin Pen slipped through the barrier briefly, only to be immediately returned to her–with a sudden, clear vision of the pedestal by Aruna. The Moon did not have her look at the three circular indents, or the crescent moon on the surface–instead, it flashed a vision of a ghostly silhouette standing in front of the pedestal. Three orbs had been placed atop it. The phantom reached her hand to the far right side of the pillar and pressed a concealed button. A tiny slot opened when she did so, revealing what appeared to be a hidden USB port. The vision faded quickly, but there was a lingering urgency. If she wanted to transform something, she needed to transform that.

Santa Maria Novella would feel a burning urgency–like he was supposed to be somewhere else. The Reception Hall was calling him. Again, the pedestal there flashed in his mind, this time with a clear vision of the two open sockets next to the orb Realta had placed.

Quote:
All event related items have been located! There are no dice rolls for this prompt; while players can continue to investigate, everyone on the Moon will feel a strong need to return to the Reception Hall. If they attempt to ignore this call, they may feel itchy, agitated, or anxious. There will not be any more event information, or detailed discovery descriptions at present, unless someone is using an Article of Clarity.

All characters who rolled a 10 in the ORP had or still have an important role to play in the ORP; three crystal orbs have been recovered, a USB has been recovered, the pedestal they should be used with has been uncovered, and the information for how to access the secrets of the pedestal has been uncovered. Players will need to work together to activate the pedestal.

The next mule prompt will come only after the USB port has been unlocked, and after the three orbs and the USB have been inserted. Please make sure to quote The Space Cauldron if your character is interacting with it! If this is not accomplished within 48 hours, the mule will make another post.

If you have questions, please PM The Space Cauldron or DM Xigglet on Discord!

Chibi Sailor Aquitania of Courage

Aquitania felt the presence of a warm body rubbing against her ankles, and glanced down in time to see Realta--right before Realta transformed into a very tall humanoid woman, with feline ears and tail, and mostly bare feet. The chibi senshi blinked in surprise. "Hi, Realta! I didn't know you could do that, can other Mauvians transform, too?" she asked as Realta's orb clicked home, lit up, and sparkled with light. It was honestly really pretty.

And it looked like it was waiting for two more.

Beyond that, she idly noticed that the pedestal appeared to be mounted to the wall, instead of merely placed against it. Which was odd. It didn't look like it could be moved by pure strength, either. A thought occurred to her, and she mused aloud, "Is this pedestal on some kind of a rail or turntable underneath it? I don't think it can be moved any other way...what do other people think? Because it looks like it's stuck to the wall, and wasn't meant to be physically moved."

Sailor Aberdonia of Papyrus

At Aberdonia's suggestion of "sheathing" Erytheia's sword in the pedestal, he felt warmth, encouragement, and excitement thrum through him, almost like the Moon, or whatever presence was still here, was happy to see him listening to the suggestive fall of moonlight, and was proud of him for figuring it out. Which was honestly really nice, and all the more gratifying when slotting the sword home yielded a USB drive, marked with a golden crescent moon. So he hadn't found anything, but he'd at least enabled the discovery. That was enough for him.

He also felt an urgent need to return to the Reception Hall. Aberdonia had cried out to him when it had needed him earlier this week, and the Moon had communicated with him vis a vis the pedestal in the Spire, so he was willing to just go with it, and turned to Karaka. "We should probably go back to the Reception Hall, see where all the clues are leading us next on this investigation," he said before turning and beginning to make his way back to the Reception Hall, where he would see others beginning to make their way over to the pedestal next to Aruna, whom he waved to as he returned.

Knight Erytheia

Erytheia place his sword in the pedestal and heard a click. A small USB with a golden crescent moon appeared. He gently picked it up. An image flashed in his mind.

“We have to go to the pillar in the Reception Hall.”

The knight didn’t wait to hurry down from the spire and into the room where everyone was beginning to enter. He watched as a Mauvian placed an orb of crystal in a hallow. Was there a set place for the other two? Yes. All three must be placed.

Erytheia looks for a slot for the USB.
