Kaifeng, Squire of Saturn

Kaifeng had never met the mysterious Almadel, but he’d heard rumors of the man from other magically powered individuals around town before. Whispers about some beautiful dragon-man from outer space who seemed eager to trade this thing or that thing with people so long as they came to him in good faith and with an open mind. Last year around this time, Kaifeng had meant to go check out what Almadel had brought to town, meant to go meet the man and see if he’d known anything about the beautiful man from Xingyi-ge’s memories who’d wound up being Huan-ge.

In retrospect, Kaifeng was glad that he hadn’t made it. Letting anything more than some of the memories of Xingyi-ge’s he’d recovered up at their Wonder set his expectations or put ideas about Huan-ge in his head might’ve created even more nonsense than had actually happened for them in real life. Kaifeng getting it in his mind that Huan-ge and Xingyi-ge had been married had been enough of an interesting situation. He sort of shuddered to think how many more misconceptions he might have come up with, had he actually met Almadel and managed to get any sort of gossip from him about Helenians, or alcoholic Saturn Knights, or Grieve and her Nameless band of mercenaries.

(Speaking of Grieve, Kaifeng noticed her over there with Madriu and Róka, and although Kaifeng stayed right next to Helene, he smiled at said group and gave them a little wave “hello.” It was nice to see more long-surviving senshi adjusting to life in the twenty-first century and letting themselves come out and do things.)

Listening closely to Helene and fidgeting with the purple star charm he’d found in town earlier, Kaifeng nodded. Despite them being right in front of several other people, he reached for Helene’s nearest hand and laced their fingers together. From the sound of things, there wasn’t really any other option for dealing with these kosopods besides handling them as quickly as possible. “If they show up again, then maybe there will be time and a chance to deal with them more humanely,” Kaifeng said, gently squeezing Helene’s hand. “For now, it’s probably for the best to make sure that they don’t do anything to destroy this place of the artifacts. So much history that it would be impossible to replace……”

Super Sailor Murikabushi of Hunger
currently: making up situations in his gay little brain and getting upset about things that nobody actually said

Wherever there were alien shenanigans that needed a curious mind and an extra set of hands, Murikabushi was regularly right there and ready to help. Everyone who didn’t like that could sue him, okay? All the alien people who’d come to Earth looking for a new start were just people, the same as everyone else, and they deserved to have a space where they could just……y’know, exist and pursue the same things that everybody else wanted in life. Health. Happiness. Food and shelter. None of them were, as far as Muri knew, selling Earth out to some eldritch world-eating Chaos monster who promised them that they could dance on the ashes after they burned it all down, so that was definitely something to count in their favor.

It was also something that Muri couldn’t help but think about as he shuffled through the assembled crowd of people. Showing up to help with Chaos-clears from Daedalus’s and Fang’s home-worlds had been one thing. Sure, he’d shown his face around People and most of them who’d known him before hadn’t received any advance warning that Murikabushi had been preparing to purify out of the Dark Mirror Court. But all of those people had been with the White Moon, at the end of the day. He may not have liked all of them on a personal level, and they may not have liked him either, but they were still Distinctly Not Chaos, which made it easier to trust them. If not to trust them personally, then at least to trust that they were, like……not going to take that much issue with someone who had been a Chaos Rat at one point no longer being a Chaos Rat.

Showing up for Almadel’s little shindig, though, and feeling all of the myriad Chaos auras who’d come out tonight? Murikabushi very nearly turned around and left.

About the only reason why he didn’t was Grieve. After having met her on Fang’s world and brought her home, he liked to count Grieve as a friend, and he wasn’t going to just leave her on her own.…… Which, being fair, she didn’t seem to be. Immediately, or so it seemed, she latched on to Madriu and Róka, and that was fair enough, considering all of them were old friends from their Nameless band.

Watching the three of them come together also made Muri feel like skulking away and leaving, though, if he were honest. Made him fidget with his pretty pink star charm. As much as he liked Grieve and Madriu, watching them and Róka together made him feel distinctly like the odd person out, the only reincarnated senshi out of the hypothetical group of four. Maybe the long-survivors would want to work together and not have to worry about an X-factor, an unknown quantity, someone whose previous incarnation had worked with them at one point but who couldn’t necessarily be relied on anymore. For all they knew, the Murikabushi of the present would never be able to live up to Airan’s precedent and it was folly to let him think otherwise. Maybe he only would’ve been a burden on them by trying to stick with people he knew—and, being fair, there were other people here whom Muri recognized, so they would’ve had a good point about (hypothetically) telling him to go bother someone else.

Unfortunately, plenty of the people Muri recognized were people he didn’t want to see right now: Jet, a Negaverse General, and Murikabushi’s only real hope there was that Jet considered him too insignificant to bother with (which would’ve made sense and Murikabushi really hoped it was the case, he was only one idiot super senshi and anyway, he hadn’t abandoned the ******** Negaverse because he’d never been one of them, he had ******** off from Mirrorspace because Mirrorspace was a lying, manipulative rat-b*****d that deserved nothing less than being torn down to studs and set on fire before it could hurt more people. Anyway, Jet seemed to have his hands full with a situation that seemed to have a lot of hands on deck, which Muri decided he didn’t want to know anything about, even without actually hearing anything about whatever the people involved were saying);

Fire and Blue’d (Fafnir; part of Faustite’s team and even though Faustite had gotten advance warning about what Murikabushi was doing, that didn’t mean that his team had; similar to how Muri felt about Jet, he could only hope that he didn’t rate as significant enough for Fire and Blue’d to notice. He’d been a brat to the other senshi on the one occasion that they’d met each other previously, and that was as good a reason as any to, like, not go and bother him, and for Fire and Blue’d to just pretend that Murikabushi didn’t exist);

Heliodor (not as bad as other possible Negaverse encounters, Muri supposed, but he was also part of Faustite’s team and the only reason why Muri trusted him more than the one with the blue color scheme was that they’d had a good talk, one-on-one);

Tama-sensei (not a bad Negaverse encounter by any means. Actually, Muri very much wanted to see him. After seeing those missing cat posters up around town, and knowing that Tama had people looking for him? Murikabushi had to wonder if Tama knew that himself, or if he was trying to avoid those people for any reason, or what his side of the story was)……

Even the people who Muri recognized without them also being Chaos, he didn’t entirely feel like he belonged with right now. Ida-hime-sama was someone he felt like he’d always willingly attach himself to like a hopeless gay duckling following around the nearest sparkly princess who deserved all the sparkly-eyed adoration, but at the moment, Ida seemed pretty busy catching up with some statuesque blonde senshi Muri had never seen before. Probably for the best to give them their space.

All of which mostly wound up with Muri sticking close to Grieve, and by extension Róka and Madriu, despite feeling as though he was going to be some kind of burden on them by intruding on their reunion with his very presence. At least sticking close to Grieve probably made Muri significantly less interesting by comparison.

Heliodor, Corrupt Super Senshi of Ryutou
If he hadn’t caught the senshi of Housekeeping shifting just out of the corner of his eye to join the grouping, Helio would have jumped out of his skin when she spoke from behind him. As it was, he started only a little bit, having assumed she’d not positioned herself directly behind him but had moved further on.

“Already making this a competition before we’ve even begun?” He shifted so the smaller woman was not lurking behind him, but more to his left side. “I have to admit, I am not keen on giant bugs and…acid anything.”

He paused a moment in thought. “Why do you think he needs so many of us to help with these bugs? He’s insisting they aren’t difficult to deal with and not so many that we’d get swarmed by them.” Something about this felt…odd. Like there was maybe something more going on here? Or perhaps it was as benign as Almadel having really wanted this problem taken care of as quickly as possible to save his collection?

Meissa, Corrupt Super of Bobcats

There had been an idea percolating in her mind that this could have been a chance to really prove herself and make Beatrix proud of her, without Beatrix even knowing she had been out that shattered the instance that the bluenette had caught sight of Beatrix's outfit. The fact that her mentor was not alone in company had Meissa's gaze widen before a polite mask fell over her expression. So this would be another person that she had to make a good first impression on. It was a good thing that the other eternal corrupt introduced herself because up until that point there hadn't been any particular name coming to mind and she was relieved to have that vital piece of information that a name provided.

Knowing that she was expected to reply to those higher up then her in rank had Meissa dip her head in acknowledgement before giving Chrysocolla her undivided attention, "I'm Meissa, senshi of Bobcats."

It was perhaps the shortest reply that she could have given while still keeping her ears and eyes open. Beatrix had mentioned Chrysocolla a few times now but even with her own mentor singing the other corrupt senshi's praises there wasn't enough data yet compiled in her own mind to form her own opinion, perhaps now she solve the dilemma. The crowd around them had grown and Meissa's attention shifted to those around them before a current of unease flowed through her. Really ... there was way too many people here. If she had heard Chrysocolla's words earlier correctly there was someone named Ida that she wasn't too fond of. Did that mean Beatrix wasn't fond of them either? Dropping her voice to a whisper the bluenette leaned forward to murmur to into Beatrix's ear.

"Would it have been wiser if I had stayed away this evening?"

Considering she had planned to stay in, but had become too restless to do so ... did it reflect badly on the Dullahan senshi that she couldn't keep an eye on her charges?

If Elsa was sticking a little close to Murikabushi, it was basic self preservation. He wasn't nearly as familiar with people on the other side, but he knew Almadel, still treasured the beautiful, warm cloak he'd gotten from him. And if the man required aid, then Elsa would show up and provide aid, damn it.

Grieve had gone off with some old friends, and she got a brief wave before Elsa turned his attention to Almadel again. A wry smile settled on his face.

"Sounds like we're doing some pest control today."

Amarynthos, Knight of the Moon

“We’re good,” Amarynthos answered; he’d just woven back to Ephesus. He’d taken a very brief moment to make sure that there wasn’t anyone they knew to be dangerous–and maybe he’d been trying to eavesdrop on whatever Sessrumnir and those Generals had going on–but he kept his distance and stayed close to Effie.

He offered a broad smile to Ekstrom and waved as he returned to his place next to Ephesus’ side.

“Did you say you’re doing Wonder things? We have to show you our Wonders at some point, we’ve gotten so much done up there. I hope we can visit yours some time? Not to be pushy, I just don’t think we’ve ever been to Mercury. If you ever need an extra set of hands, Effie and I love working on Wonders. But if you’re ever looking for a patrol partner or something, you can call on us, too! Especially while it’s summertime.”

Dering, Squire of Lysithea

“Reims, Yvoire! Hello,” Dering called, though his voice never seemed to carry and he had to be very close to them to be heard. He had kept his head down as he made his way towards them–though, he hadn’t known that was the direction he was headed in until he found them. Really, he was just trying to get away from some of the Negaverse Agents.

Stirling was just behind him, but just in case he quickly said, “Stirling and I were just trying to find somewhere safe. Can we stick with you two?”

Or, actually, Reims looked a little stifled. Maybe he was intruding. Dering was quickly thinking of a long list of excuses to back up. Maybe Yvoire and Reims had been in the middle of some sort of important conversation.

Immediately, an apology was on his lips, and after a quick sorry he said, “I didn’t mean to interrupt. I got excited to see you two.” There were a lot of Chaos people here, of course he was going to worry. He didn’t want anyone to get starseeded. Again.

Belmont, Squire of Jupiter

Belmont laughed from behind Connie. Even if he hadn’t spotted her through the crowd, he’d have known that voice anywhere. “No luck for you, Connie. Every time a bug is involved, you’re not close behind. Or maybe I should say it the other way around. I had a bad run in with a hornet’s nest a few weeks ago and thought you might be nearby. Was a bit disappointed not to see you.”

Of course, he was glad to see her now, even as tensions were reasonably high. There were a lot of people with a lot of agendas lined up here and he didn’t really know what to expect for most of them.

Some faces he recognized. Most, not. That was unsurprising.

He was just glad to see her here, especially since they were already practically extermination experts.

“Do you really want to go up to space and start lighting things on fire?”

Selinur! That almost sounds like a threat!” Almadel laughed. “Please, I’m very well aware of what’s at risk here. Well, I respect being up front about what you want. But we’ll have to discuss details afterwards. If I don’t have a museum after this then it’ll be a poor bargain.”

And, the longer they waited, the more risk there was.

Surtur was a welcome sight, always such a good sport. “Oh, if you think you can handle them, by all means. Just be aware of their breeding habits so you don’t wind up with an infestation. I don’t care how we get rid of them as long as they’re out of my museum.”

Urania was on the right page, though. “Ideally, to save the artifacts we’ll need to take care of the Kosopods. It’s not just damage to the items but if the structure fails? I’m in space, it’s not like I can just call a construction crew out for emergencies. The simplest solution is just to make sure the Kosopods don’t have time to focus on eating. Of course, if you’ve got any snacks you might be able to bribe them with, that might taste better than glass and stone and history.”

It was hard to imagine the palate of a giant bug.

To Tama, he elaborated, “I appreciate your flattery, but I know when I’m in over my head. It’s too big a scope. I’ve done what I can but I’m out of resources. Even if I eradicate them in one room, they can just scurry to the next. I’m running out of time. If I wasn’t so worried about the state of my collection, I wouldn’t bother you with this. But I don’t have that luxury right now. So, I need help.”

To Erytheia, “What did you solve, again? Sorry, I don’t think I was here for that. You did feel the disturbance? Well, I’m not surprised. Many places were affected. I saw a Wonder outright collapse, is that what you mean? I wonder, you might have done the clean up, but to solve it? Hm, I’m not sure. I suspect there’s quite a bit that’s happened since then. Did you feel the second shockwave a week or two ago? I saw the Surrounding glowing, I wonder if it absorbed it. Well, I’ve told you, there’s a lot moving out there in the universe. Earth is very lucky. Ah, but–speaking of lucky, we have to go now, before the stars move again. Sorry, hold on.”

Almadel finished finagling with whatever he was doing with the stars between his fingers. “Okay, let’s go.”

He clapped his hands together.

They left Destiny City in an instant.

There was a brief moment where they might have seen the stars blur around them as they shot through space but they arrived in an instant, unharmed except for perhaps feeling a bit of sudden, brief motion sickness.

In this new room, a great chandelier hung above them but the light flickered erratically. Sometimes it was easier to make out more details but generally the room was cast in a dim glow.

When it was visible, it was an impressive and expansive view.

Though only in one great room of the museum, it visually captured the style of Beaux-Arts architecture with extensive efforts. It looked like he might have just plucked some elaborate building right from Earth and carried it to space himself if not for the collection inside. The building seemed timeless, with endless classical details; there were plentiful columns and pilasters. While there were an array of arched windows, these were all boarded up. Some archways had pale blue, glowing barriers sealing them off, and some doors had been marked with the same.

This room had an immense stairway leading to an upper floor, and balconies to oversee the collection below.

The room was too cluttered to have been part of any exhibits; it looked like Almadel had been using this as a storage room. There were large glass cases with strange objects inside–statues of alien people and creatures. Some looked almost human but some were far from it. Paintings adorned the walls in styles unimaginable; some had colors so vibrant that they didn’t seem real. Some paintings even seemed to move.

There were fossils, tools, outfits, artifacts–some things so strange it was impossible to even imagine. Some of the exhibits had text in an alien script but many didn’t, and some objects seemed to be set aside for preservation purposes more than display.

Magic hummed in the air, though its source was unplaceable.

Almadel had a historic treasure trove here, and if he was willing to expose his true treasures, it was probably clear how important this actually was to him.

Almadel clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth as he looked up at the chandelier. “Oh, they finally chewed their way through my electrics. Well, I hope the shield stayed up.”

He was quiet for a moment, as if listening for something. “No, I think it’s fine. But we’ll be in trouble if it goes down. The debris has been awful lately. I hate to imagine what’s going on out there to change the currents like this. Anyway,” he turned to the group and cleared his throat.

In the dimness, the glowing chandelier above them briefly reflected his eyes; they looked like they glowed. “As you can see, the problem.”

A wasp-like cocoon of immense proportions was half formed on the wall.

‘A few dozen’ Kosopods was likely a gross underestimate. Almadel’s lips remained pressed in a tight smile as he observed the cocoon, and despite the otherwise charming expression he wore, his raised brows wide eyes indicated that this was not exactly what he had expected to see.

“I think they’ve been busy while I was gone.”

In the distance, something toppled over. Little legs skittered over the marble floor. There was nothing to be seen. The light dimmed briefly and suddenly it felt like the whole room was moving, but when it returned there was nothing to be seen.

Almadel clapped his hands together and rubbed them quickly.

“Okay. I’ve marked off the rooms that still need to be cleared out. Any open door hasn’t been secured. So it’s them, and…here.”

His voice could have echoed for miles if there wasn’t such a labyrinth of displays up already.

“...Let’s just all do our best. And get along. Please don’t break anything.” He had to insist on this because it was very important. “I don’t care how you get rid of them. I just need them gone. And I need things to be in one piece. You have no idea what I’ve got here. Oh, but of course, I’ll be happy to tell you all about it later. Let me just slip over here for a minute, let me see if there’s anything I can do to fix these lights.”

Almadel didn’t so much as hurry away, but there was a bit of a bounce in his step as he wove around the room and headed across the room.

The lights darkened again; it was difficult, but not impossible to see. The skittering grew louder again.

The Kosopods were getting interested in the new guests.

Maybe they were getting hungry, too.

Quote:
Characters can still join the RP at this point in time, however you will need to handwave that you were at the hill at the time Almadel teleported everyone to the museum. All prompts from this point on will rely on dice rolls until the close; when you roll, please include at least two sentences about what your character is doing. You can fill these out later but please try to do it as quickly as possible as there will be many moving pieces in the RP! If you want a more relaxed experience, the side RPs are designed to be done at your own pace! Please see more information about them here! If you do a side RP instead of the battle segment of the ORP, you will still be able to rejoin at the close of this thread! ORP prompts will be posted every ~48 hours; the next post should be Saturday, the 22nd. The rest of the OOC notes are related to continuation of the ORP in this thread!

The prompts in this ORP are meant to guide you; what you do is totally open ended. There are many ways to achieve the end goal and you can customize this based on what feels right for your character. Just because Almadel or the prompt says to do something doesn’t mean you must abide by it specifically, however deviating too far from the prompt may affect the impact of your dice roll. Dice rolls may impact present or future prompts depending; this dice roll will affect what happens in the next prompt but not the current one.

While you must stay in the area, you can investigate anything. You can PM The Space Cauldron or DM xigglet on Discord if you want to check anything before posting; you can also ask if you can interact with anything or gain extra information about something your character is involved in. It is possible to find an artifact or relic that is some way important or relevant to your character but you must have permission. If you are interested in finding something, please be prepared to give a physical description and any relevant lore; we can work things out with you.

Please roll 1d100 to investigate the surrounding area! Because the lights are dim, you may need to be prepared to explore with your hands! You must include your character’s name, rank, and a link to their journal at the top of every post you make for them in this thread! Please also include an ‘Action: (Summary)’ beneath this to give a very brief summary of what your character is doing. Please make sure your posts are filled out; if the post is reserved or has bare minimum information provided then you forfeit your roll!

Super Sailor Murikabushi of Hunger
currently: standing near the Nameless reunion and replying to Elsa.

“Definitely not what I’m used to seeing from Almadel,” Murikabushi said, hesitating a moment before shuffling away from his Emotional Support Enormous Technicolor Alien to stick closer to Elsa instead. No matter how awkward and weird Muri felt about being out here among so many other Chaos people, it had to be even worse for Elsa. He’d been with Chaos for even longer than Murikabushi had. Given how many people seemed to have fallen out of the magical girl lifestyle and how people probably didn’t feel obligated to deal with, there was maybe some wiggle room for the people Elsa had known before to, like, not be here?

But……if there were people who’d known Elsa before lurking around, then Murikabushi didn’t want to just leave Elsa to deal with them alone.

“After last year, I was kind of hoping he might have something else like that tea-set he gave me. But……” Murikabushi shrugged. “If it’s pest control tonight instead, then it’s pest control instead. And Grieve and Madriu can have barbecue if they want, I guess.”

Sailor Grieve of the Collapse
currently:

Giving Madriu something similiar to a fistbump. she nodded with a little sneer, "I ********' hate that starseed grab of theirs. And the teleporting! It's such a pain in the a**, that's why I only k-" Kill off lieutenants. Because then they don't grow up to be an actual threat. Clearing her throat, she looked away, but not before wiping something on her hand off on Roka's sash. Pre-mission snacks were important, and sometimes a little messy. She then waved back at Kaifeng, glad to see that he and Hubbene were doing okay but also weren't close enough to gross her out with their lovey dovey.

Seeing Elsa, she gave a nod, still a little distracted by the upcoming barbeque. To be honest she was kinda s**t at most cooking, having an all-or-nothing relationship with spices. calling over to Murikabushi, she started to ask, "Hey do you think Moi'rahn," (more a title than a nickname, referring to a role akin to both wiseman and advisor, bearing both soft emotional guidance and hard political acumen, given to Yuki after a whole three days of living with them), "...would be willing to-"

And then they were somewhere intensely magical. And ********' expensive. Her eyes tracked the moving shadows, pausing here and there on something that looked disgustingly valuable. "Do you think he'll charge us if we do break anything?"

There'd been a scammer once, who'd tried that with them.

Tried.

currently: ready for whats to come.

Ngome watched as Almadel moved across the room, his presence seeming to light up the space around him despite the flickering lights. She turned her attention to the rest of the group, assessing their readiness for what was about to come. Each member had a determined look on their face, a mix of apprehension and determination evident in their eyes.

As the skittering sounds grew louder, Ngome took a deep breath and focused her energy.

Eternal Corrupt Hestia
currently: by Helio, taunting Borax

"One can never underestimate the power of a head start," Hestia replied sagely. Her attention turned to the nearby captain that looked much too comfortable and bored. "So do try to keep up, Captain Borax."

She was definitely going to smash more bugs than him, it was pretty much a given. But goodness, the thought of seeing that smug face splattered with alien bug intestines and those pompom shoes eaten away by acid, those were also rewards of a sort, weren't they?

They shifted to another world, and Hestia felt a brief pang for what had been lost to her choices. But it was also very nice, to breathe the strange air of space once again. Following his words, she eyed the nest and noted the movements within the area. Honestly, Helio was correct. This didn't need so many people. Actually, she was fairly certain she'd be able to manage this sort of thing by herself, and leave the area in even better condition that before its infestation.

"There's probably a queen," she finally replied to Helio. "A mutant queen that does something terrible." the maid senshi sounded a little too enthusiastic at the possiblity. "Don't worry, Mr. Helio," Hestia reassured, "my magic can clean your uniform." As if that was the reason he wasn't too happy about the bug situation.

And now they were in a 'Museum---'

"I agree with Vyn," softly, in vanguardian, from the quiet backdrop of appearing uninterested until now, saying the words as if they were a given. "If the curator doesn't care *where* these creatures go, so long as their gone from his--" and Tenoch waived a hand vaguely at the encroaching dimness, watched the light catch the brightly colored masses that had been pulled along to join the rest. The scowl on his face more for the distaste of being ganked through one space and into another, even if he was willing, it always made his skin tingle strangely, set his blunt teeth on edge.

Especially within a space so unfamiliar as this -- there was danger in vastness of it; in the webbed shadows and decorated ceilings. Almadel said the creatures had been busy, and from what glimpses Tenoch could catch, he was ready to say that was quite the understatement to make. Just not out loud, no, better to keep the roiling hiss of thoughts tightly capped and smothered until he knew what they were doing.

Until they were certain--

"We can worry about the *how* later," glancing to Lysanna, offering the barest hint of a shrug, for he knew how foolish it might seem to try and bring home a 'pet' of unknown destructive possibilities....Though his care of what would become of the Earth was secondary. None of this was his direct area of expertise, if they could collect the shells -- the data -- and nothing more? Then so be it, but the look on Neria's face made him want to at least try and salvage what they could of at least *one* of the living creatures.

"So long as we're all agreed that no one is running off alone." the words probably needn't be said in common or any other tongue, but he said them nonetheless. As though he could somehow be more than just a hindrance surrounded by his friends who had well out-climbed him in rank by now. He repeated them the same as others already had, absently, as though it were a well known mantra. One he believed they all were willing to abide by, because that was what made them most solid as a unit, small agreements and concessions for the betterment of all even when mixed ideas and desires misaligned. There were things like this where even he could find it in himself to agree upon.

Super Sailor Murikabushi of Hunger
Action: tossing snacks at Grieve, Róka, and Madriu, then exiting to a branching RP with Elsa.

Getting transported into Almadel’s museum—or at least what looked like it might have been the junk room of said museum—only felt like a bit of a head-trip because of how much stuff there was. As soon as he felt more or less stable on his feet, Murikabushi couldn’t help but stare, all wide-eyed and sparkly with wonder and awe, at the vast array of treasures that surrounded everyone who’d come out tonight. All anxiety about the Negaverse operatives present here tonight, forgotten. All unnecessary worry about possibly burdening his long-surviving space senshi friends disappeared.

Instead, Murikabushi practically vibrated with an eagerness to rifle through this place, learning everything he could about every single artifact until Yuki personally found a way to make it here and bodily drag him out because meal breaks were non-optional, no matter how much special, fascinating space-history was here for him to learn. Failing that, Muri wondered if Almadel ever needed an unpaid intern to fix with thankless archival b***h-work that most people in their right minds would have never willingly accepted without some kind of guaranteed benefits. (That was Muri’s secret, really: the entire theoretical benefit of such a position, for him, would have been working as an archival intern at a magical space museum full of magical space-history.)

Speaking of Yuki, though—Grieve had said something, just before Almadel had transported everyone. She’d used the nickname that Yuki had attracted very shortly after she’d moved in. “He’d probably be up for making you guys something after this, yeah,” Muri agreed, digging around in his subspace pocket for a moment. “If not cooking it himself, then he’d at least be okay with you guys coming over and letting us get you all takeout.”

In case any of them were hungry now, though, Muri pulled out some snacks and gently tossed them to the once-mercenaries. Grieve received a large package of beef jerky (she didn’t seem to dislike too many things in general, but Muri had noticed that she preferred meat). Madriu got a likewise large bag of pepperoni pizza Combos, little pretzel snacks rolled up around flavored filling. And Róka got a bag of strawberry-chocolate kinoko no yama, Japanese biscuit cookies shaped like mushrooms with the strawberry and chocolate flavored parts on top of the toadstool cap. Junsei had tossed two bags of them Yuki’s way recently, with an intent of them getting back to Muri, and since Muri had an open one back at home, he didn’t feel like sharing with Róka defeated the purpose of his brother going “Please make sure that idiot is eating properly, Yuki. I know I don’t need to ask you to do that? But……please?”

With the snacks distributed, though, Muri looked around at what all lay before them. He made himself take deeper breaths, trying to remain more or less calm, trying to act like a dignified senshi who took his job seriously and wasn’t currently fighting the impulse to forget all about the weird space-bugs and serious threat of exposure to the Negaverse in order to run around the junk room like The monsters are all missing and the nightmares can’t be found, and in their place, there seems to be good feeling all around!”

Even though he was absolutely fighting against that impulse.

Space-history was everywhere in this room and Muri wanted to know everything about it. Sue him.

Still, the Negaverse auras weren’t going away and Muri grew increasingly uncomfortable with the fact that he had personally met so many of the people attached to them, but none of the auras belonged to either Albite (whom Muri wouldn’t have minded seeing, not least because he felt like Albite would understand that Muri had only left the Court for his own happiness and wellbeing, rather than any larger magical girl sociopolitical nonsense) or Faustite (whom Muri likely shouldn’t have been allowed to see right now, but that wasn’t going to make him stop caring or worrying about Faustite for Faustite’s sake).… The side-rooms seemed to have just as much skittering as the main storage area, so Muri gently nudged at Elsa’s shoulder and motioned toward one of the other areas.

“We might have more luck if we break off from everyone else,” Muri pointed out. “If we don’t stomp the bugs in there, we could try to corral them out here so the people who have area of effect magic can take out more of them with whatever magic reserves they have.”

Coco, White moon guardian cat, Human form, X

Action: Investigating

Coco was so excited they were teleported to the museum, she still wanted to learn how to teleport but she hadn't gotten around to that yet. Once they arrived at the museum in the fading light she looked around at all the stuff in wonder. She bounced on her paws and started her search using her paws and nose in her search, since there wasn't much light to use. She had no idea what she was looking for, but she was excited about the possibility of finding something useful. She wasn't sure she was excited about fighting giant bugs but she was planning to do her best.
