When Suri spoke, his gaze cut over to her just as sharp as everything about him. Her pacing was a minor irritation for him, but nothing that he couldn't put up with. She was his right-hand and presenting a unified team was important.

Everything about their time in was a test, for him, for his team, for every agent that had gathered.

"No trackers," he replied to Shannon. "None that we have access to anyway." Their ability to access what they were used to was more limited and everything the previous operatives had access to had been destroyed before they'd even arrived. His tongue pressed against his teeth for a moment when Suri spoke up and answered some of the questions that had been lobbed their way.

"We will not be releasing Striker," he said definitively. "As it stands, he is the only leverage we have if we seek to make a trade or have a reason to coax them out." Outside of offering one of their own operatives, which was a potential option...

"For now, it's best to stick in pairs at the minimum. Clearly we're being too obvious given that some of them went missing without powering up." Or that was the implication based on the mission reports.

"I need a volunteer, who will have to understand if they take this role, the likelihood of making it back alive is slim."

Velma raised her hand and stepped forward.

"I volunteer, Chase," she said. Minimum chance of coming back alive was not a deterrent for her. Somehow, it didn't bother her. It didn't scare her.

Because she knew that if she came back, she'd be praised for it.

Ashley Williams // Captain Reinerite

Whilst Ashley had heard that agents had gone missing, it was somewhat disconcerting to realise just how many Negaverse agents had gone missing.

Three of the mentioned names were unfamiliar and so it was something of a shock to realise that the fourth name was one that was familiar to her, if only in the context that she had been on a couple of missions with the agent in question.

December. He had had a relatively keen eye in the rose garden mission that had been her first Witzen mission for all that said mission had ended up inconclusive–

But then again her second Witzen mission had been equally inconclusive. Ashley kept her face expressionless as Chase continued to speak, followed by a standing woman who had talked about the need for coordinated patrols ( Suri) that she remembered had been pointed out during the first briefing not long after arrival in Witzen.

Another woman suggested feeding the mentioned captured senshi some misinformation and letting them go, but whilst the idea had some merit Ashley was personally with Shannon, if only since the senshi was pretty much the best source of information–

That was if said senshi could be cracked... Which was something that would admittedly need time.

Did they even have that time?

It was a question she didn't know the answer to, although it was clear that she would need to step up her game–

And then Chase was asking for a volunteer, although before Ashley could open her mouth to say anything another voice was already piping up to do just that.

Suggestions were sent out, and though Gisela said nothing, she listened to it all. No trackers. No outside reinforcements. No mauvians. They may as well not have been a part of the negaverse at all. If anything, this whole missing only proved how soft they all were. How dependent they all were on outside assistance. They were themselves, unreliable.

And while Gisela was all for sacrificing herself for the greater good, there was martyrdom and then there was being bait.

So when Velma shot up to volunteer herself for a mission whose parameters were not defined, whose goal was not stated, and whose steps were not verbalized, Gisela stayed silent. If she was going to die for the negaverse, it was not going to be because she was laid out like meat for the taking. She was going to go down as a warrior. The way Xenotime had taught her. The way Benitoite expected. Nothing more. And certainly nothing less.

Then again... maybe Chase wasn't broadcasting the details for a reason. He wsa a general, and a good one. Gisela had sworn to follow him. To jump when he commanded and, indeed, die the same way. If she died on this mission, it would be doing exactly what she promised that she would be.

Her word was her bond, after all.

"What do you think, Gan," Gisela whispered without casting her eyes towards him. "With no details? Would the risk be worth it, do you think?"

Gan listened impassively to the exchanges, not wanting to jump into any of this. It seemed to him that keeping around the enemy senshi only served two purposes: To draw out a rescue mission, and for the monsters to toy with their food. He didn’t exactly approve fo the second one, but he wasn’t going to object and the first reason was sound enough.

He could only imagine what kinds of garbage information they’d get out of a fanatic, though.

On the topic of volunteering for a mission with no parameters, he thought, Who would be crazy enough to jump up for something like— The question was answered even before it fully formed. Ah s**t, here we go again.

He raised his eyebrows ever so slightly at Gisela. “I am not keen on suicide,” he admitted flatly. “That said, I do, perhaps, share in my ancestors’ thirst for glory somewhat so...” He shrugged. “It would certainly help my position as a newcomer to this...organization.”

That, and he would feel pretty terrible about letting these people who looked so ill-prepared to fight do so on their own. Never mind that they were all magically enhanced to some extent...He hadn’t been around this long enough to allow Negaverse power and rank supersede thoughts of physical prowess.

“So I’ll go with you if that’s what you’re asking me.”

Gisela smiled, thin lips splitting over too-white teeth. Gan's promise to follow her... a friend... made up her mind. If she died, Xenotime would be proud of her sacrifice. Benitoite would remember her name with fondness. She would die the way she was meant to die -- as a warrior for her cause. And she would lie in the earth happily.

And if she came back, all the better for the names of those she followed and adored. Xenotime's training would pay off, furthering her name. Benitoite raised up a successful senshi.

And that, as they say, was that.

Gisela stood up, thin voice following Velma's.

"I volunteer as well, Mr. Black."

Gansükh gave her a small nod in reply, and only spent a brief moment considering whether or not this was really a great idea. Too late now.

And, at the very least, it was bound to be an interesting adventure and way to die.

So, a moment after Gisela volunteered, he stood as well and did similarly, face determined but mostly impassive. "As do I," he said simply.

((This is set a few days after he requested volunteers, all volunteers were utilized and will have more information when additional threads go up!))

More agents had been captured, Lieutenant Aventurine and Super Sailor Ceraskia the newest members to have disappeared while pulling a recon mission. The amount of arguably trained and capable soldiers being lost was officially concerning enough and Chase could only watch Suri’s pacing for so long before he snapped.

They still hadn’t come any closer to locating the hideout that the senshi had clearly taken to using. Every time they got close, they either found empty and abandoned rooms or, worse, someone would go missing. Striker wasn’t giving any more information and his usefulness as a hostage was running out.

They had to change how they were doing things.

General Labyrinthite had yet to go into the field himself, because there was much to do as far as trying to strategize and put together missions or information but it was becoming increasingly clear that he would have to.

If the people he sent out were not capable of doing the job to the success levels he wanted, then he would have to do it himself. To lead by example.

Earlier he had asked for volunteers, people willing to put themselves on the line and risk not making it back. They’d been turned into bait of sorts, sent out with their tablets alive and active, in hopes that they would locate the senshi and the missing agents, if any were alive to find.

Based on the data they’d been receiving from the tablets, it was proving to be successful which meant it was time to make a move.

He had called everyone back into conference room a few days later.

“It’s time to make our move. The volunteers have established reliable tracking and based on the data we’ve been able to gather they’re still alive and we were on the right track when we were searching,” Chase announced to the gathered.

“We’ll be forming three teams. One will be lead by Eternal Dia, one by General Zircon, and the final team by myself.” Whiskey eyes cut across the gathered. “While I will make adjustments as I deem fit to each team, you will be allowed to pick whom you follow.”

((You have until 9PM MST Monday 5/13 to decide whom you’ll be following. Keep in mind that I will adjust teams for balance and my needs!

Trey Cameron

Trey had let Suri be after she had, no uncertain terms, showed him how much she appreciated the concern he had tried to show.

It still irritated him a little bit, thinking about it now. Ever since they’d found out agents had been captured, she’d been… restless and snappish. He’d had to step lightly and keep himself to himself, something he’d never had to do before, at least with Suri. That quietness had extended to volunteering himself for whatever mission Labyrinthite had thought up to find out where the senshi were taking their captives, and he was still glad for that now.

Selfish, but at the same time, he’d never asked to be thrust into this role. He wasn’t going to risk his life for it, if he could help it.

Now, he sat quietly through the meeting, the announcement they were taking the fight to the enemy met with a tightening of his mouth and a closed off expression. Things were coming to a head, as to be expected, and the tension was growing. Now he had a choice to make.

Blue eyes flickered to Suri. There was the option he wanted, and then there was the option he knew would be expected. Only one of them was his general, and after his last attempt at reaching out, he figured it was probably better to stay in the lines anyway.

Ashley Williams // Captain Reinerite
((Ashley will be Team Sparrow))

Ashley sat quietly through the latest meeting that they had been summoned to, her face expressionless as Chase announced that the efforts from those that had volunteered at the previous meeting had borne fruit and that it was time for them to make a move.

Her hands, clasped together and hidden in her lap tightened against each other.

Finally. Finally something concrete - at least Ashley was assuming that there was finally something that they could act on rather than the rumour and gossip that she had kept butting up against, although a part of her couldn't help but wonder if it was already too late for those who had been taken.

It seemed that there were going to be three teams and they were given a choice of which to join–

Not that it actually made a difference to Ashley which of the three teams she was part of, even as her grey eyes glanced over and towards the two women who would head the other two teams.

It took a few moments thought but in the end Ashley decided to go with the team being headed up by General Zircon, although she was privately flexible - if needed to be on another team then she would go to said other team.

[Elliot // Lt. Ransomite]
Team Sparrow

The fact that there were so many of their own captured was bad enough. That they didn’t have an overwhelming amount of the enemy’s forced captured in return was worse still. They weren’t going to be able to negotiate a hostage exchange, he figured...

Then again, it didn’t seem like negotiation had ever been an option, so they were going to do this the hard way.

Jail break, or something like that.

It was easy enough to pick team sparrow, since Zircon was his superior anyway. It made the most sense for Ransomite to opt for that group. He had not been on a terribly large amount of serious recon missions, but he was more than willing to learn on the go. He didn’t have a choice anyway.

He fancied himself clever enough.

Ransomite also considered himself lucky that he hadn’t disappeared with the others. Hopefully his luck would not run out in the future.

{{ Damien / General Katiite would like to be on Team Sparrow }}

The amount of their own that had been captured was growing increasingly disturbing. Damien was uncertain what to truly think of it all, really. If the senshi had become this organized in Witzend, how much of a danger would they be if they became this organized back in Destiny City?

The prospect was not promising.

Perhaps it was best to assume they would continue to be dysfunctional, and simply focus on the present. The urge to take out the White Moon was growing. He couldn't wait to get his hands on one of them and--

Focus on the present.

Damien took in a deep breath and listened, evaluating the options in front of him.

While it seemed that teaming up with General Labyrinthite himself would likely earn him the most brownie points, he had worked with General Zircon before. It had seemed they were able to look at the data and come up with a clearer map of where the senshi were hiding, previously. It showed that they both had strategic minds, and they were already comfortable with each other to some small degree.

(A small degree, indeed.)

Still, it made it easy for Damien to make his selection.

Emilia Asher/Jadarite
Team Reaper

Emmy had listened to the conversations, to the rumors, to the people so willing to risk their lives for the cause. She had kept her hand down. She liked being alive, thank you very much. This was work for her, her job, and she was getting increasingly ready to just be back at her desk with her articles and maybe some extra clout and stories for her team.

Still, as it was, as previously mentioned, work, while she didn't have to volunteer, she couldn't stop herself from getting drafted. She also knew, deep down, that the senshi did need to be taken care of. The amount of people missing from their conference room was starting to become noticeable. While she was a bit concerned for her own safety, she could admire Labyrinthite's strategy. They were getting a better sense of the senshi's numbers, but people were being picked off and that meant it was time for an all hands attack.

She could respect that, and while she didn't jump at the idea of danger, she didn't drag her feet, either. She would pull her weight.

When they were asked to divide into teams, she quickly and silently walked towards Chase. He was her leader, the reason she was here, the one she trusted most and most wanted to impress.
