Prompt Response: I thought we would soar over the rocks and river altogether, my Arcanine and me. But we misjudged the length of the river and soon, its depth. We splashed around in dislike, before emerging from the water, soaking wet and irritable. Arcanine shook out his coat, turning into a giant poofball and I climbed onto his back once more, comforted by the warmth I found there. Well, it wasn't the best start, but we were determined to catch up to the few who had made it across without any incident.

July 14th: 11 | 1
Prompt Response: If you weren't aware, Arcanines are large Pokemon who stand over six feet tall. They aren't lithe creatures either and happen to be terribly bulky (it's not just floof after all.) So naturally, when we saw the thin mountain path, we both got pretty intimidated. Luckily, Arcanine was able to stay on the path, but I took a nasty tumble over the side. I'm not sure if I would have preferred landing on the hard ground over the bite Arcanine gave me as he tried to catch me. It stung like a MotherFluffer, but he got me back on the edge and managed to hold up some others in the race at the same time, so I guess there could be worse things? Still, I hope there's a rest stop with a Nurse Joy somewhere down the line of this race! Ouch!

July 15th: n/a | 0
Prompt Response: Missed a day! D:

July 16th: 10 | 3
Prompt Response: I didn't even want to talk about what happened with that last obstacle. When I finally made it out to the flower field, my chest was heaving, my Arcanine was panting and we were tempted to lay down in that field and never get up again.
"Almost a little more, Arc." I muttered. "We got this. We'll definitely win. No doubt." And so we began to limp forward again. Oh yeah, we so had this in the bag.

July 13th: [17] | [2]
Prompt Response:

So this was it, the start of the greatest race of all. We were ready. We'd trained for this. Jolteon tensed underneath me and I gently ruffled his neck ruff before the echoing bang of the starting gun took us both by surprise. However it was a momentarily lapse. Soon we found ourselves in the middle of the leading pack. As we came to the first obstacle I noted that some of my fellow racers weren't having luck on the stepping stones. "Let's show them how it's done Jolti."

Jolteon began leaping from stone to stone, sure-footed and swift. It was the last stone that almost proved our undoing. Jolti's foot slipped on the wet rock but he fought to stay on and surely enough with one more well-timed jump we were across the water and on the way once more. "We got this my friend, let's show them."

July 14th: [6] | [1]
Prompt Response:

So we weren't in the lead anymore but being somewhere in the middle was fine with me. As long as nothing bad befell Jolteon and I we would be alright. It was a bit later that we came to the next obstacle. There was a narrow rock ledge, very narrow. One misstep and it would certainly spell doom for either of us. I started forward but Jolteon grabbed the sleeve of my shirt and tugged insistently on it. He was actually pulling me backwards. "Jolti, cut it out. We won't win the race if you hold me back," when the tugging resumed I turned around to really start scolding my pokemon when an ominous cracking sound was heard. It was with shock on my face that I realized Jolti had just saved my life. Kneeling down I hugged him fiercely. "Alright, this way seems too dangerous, is there another path we can take?"

It took us a while but we managed to find an alternate route. But the question remained, how much ground did we lose in the process?

July 15th: [9] | [1]
Prompt Response:

What could have been better than a nice quiet stroll through a forest? Well peace and quiet that would have been nice. Jolteon and I had stumbled into an all-out aerial battle and we were taking some serious damage. Beedrill and Spearow were the enemy combatants. Covering my head and doing the best to keep the way clear I grew frustrated. "Jolti, give 'em a thundershock. That'll show them who's boss."

Jolteon complied. Once the way was seemingly clear we got the heck out of dodge just in case reinforcements were on the way. We needed to make up some ground and catch up with the others.

July 16th: [7] | [3]
Prompt Response:
Finally, out of the forest Jolteon and I stumbled across a peaceful meadow. It would have been tempting to sit back and relax but we had ground to make up. It wouldn't do to take things too cautiously and so with a bit of a rueful smile I glanced down at Jolti and gave a soft sigh. "It's time to make up some of the ground we lost, are you ready for a good sprint?"

It was perhaps the rash thing to do. Instead of trying to catch our second wind Jolti and I began to sprint towards the direction that the finish line lay in. We both knew that to linger would mean losing the race and that was just not acceptable. The ground was solid under our feet as we ran for all we were worth. We'd make this a close race ... yes we would.

Prompt Response: The start of the race and the excitement was high. With so many around it was easy to get lost in that excitement. Even my Ponyta was nearly bouncing off her hooves. With gentle patting and whispers she settled. With the start of the race, Ponyta raced forward towards the stepping stones. Being a sure footed pokemon, ponyta raced across the stones with little problem. Taking flight towards the next obstacle in the path a head.

July 14th: [17] | [3]
Prompt Response: That thin ledge, as sure footed as Ponyta was, I didn't want to risk one false step. Leading the pokemon over the obstacle, it was clear sailing once on the other side.

July 15th: [10] | [1]
Prompt Response: Things were going great! Well, that is when a rock stuck me against the head. Looking back while rubbing the spot, there were many angry pokemon chasing us. Well that was perfect, two easy goes, our luck had to fall short somewhere, right? Right.

July 16th: [7] | [3]
Prompt Response: With much Bruising and welts from the stinging pokemon, ponyta broke free from the forest and into the grassy area. Picking the way carefully, Ponyta was able to avoid holes and other traps that would have injured her. Only one thing left and it was ahead!

July 13th: 8 | 1
Prompt Response: Pushing on my partner I raced to the edge of the river. Hesitating for a moment, my partner not being good around water, I urged them forward gently. Stone by stone they jumped carefully, more like a frog than something graceful. But in the end we made it across even if only barely.

July 14th: 17 | 3
Prompt Response: "Rhyhorn now is your time to shine!" I call out to the huffing rock Pokemon. It grunts as it uses its heavy body to keep it weighed down. My partner lived in these types on conditions. I knew to trust it. Slowly but surely we were gaining ground. No pun intended.

July 15th: 17 | 1
Prompt Response: Rhyhorn made its trek towards some large trees. We had pulled ahead but not by much. The buzzing of Beedrill drowned out the stomping of the determined Pokemon I was currently trying to steer past some of the low hanging branches. Rhyhorn grunted turning a bit sharply causing me to fall from my saddle. As I hung to its side, I heard the stingers hit its rocky hide. As I attempted to gain my seating again the Beedrill went for the person behind us. Rhyhorn was panting a little but being a rock Pokemon protected it from the bees.

July 16th: 8 | 3
Prompt Response:
This was more like it. A large grassy expanse unfolded before my Rhyhorn. The more sleek Pokemon to our sides were in for a shock. Rhyhorn's thundering footsteps became rhythmic, getting faster and faster. A Pidove popped up a little too late, Rhyhorn barreling it over like it was nothing. My partner was focused. Nothing could stop a Rhyhorn determined to outrun its opponents. Not even the poor Pidove we left stunned behind us.

July 13th: [18] | [3]
Prompt Response: The race had just begun and already we were facing a rather intimidating challenge. I knew my swimming abilities were more than top-notch, but the small Growlithe that was running along side me was a much bigger problem. He was newly hatched, not even battle-tested yet, and I didn't want his first obstacle to discourage him. A sharp whistle called Growlithe to me, and without breaking stride I scooped him up. He gave a delighted yip as we hopped from stone to stone, carefully but quickly making our way across. Once we reached the last stone I set Growlithe down to let him hop to shore, giving him that sense of at least completing the task a little bit. He seemed quite pleased with himself and off we went, eager and excited for the next challenge.

July 14th: [18] | [3]
Prompt Response: After making it through the first obstacle, we arrived at a very narrow ledge. I glanced over the side and felt a bit dizzy looking down the steep embankment to the bottom. It was a long way but probably survivable if one of us fell...probably. It would just be a long way to somersault down the steep face of the hill. Growlithe stayed at my heels as we carefully moved single file. I hugged the natural wall of the hill as Growlithe pitter-pattered along behind me, not a care in the world. Once again we made it through and continued on, both of us giving a whoop (or a yip) in delight as we went on.

July 15th: [10] | [1]
Prompt Response: So far, so good! Growlithe and I headed down the trail that eventually led into a dense forest, almost thick enough to completely blot out the sun. It was nice to run in the shade for a change...up until a rather ominous sound behind us caught my attention. A few other racers were catching up, but it was because they were high-tailing it away from a swarm of very angry Beedrill! A few rocks began to rain from above as well and I quickly grabbed Growlithe to find some cover. There were a lot of low-hanging branches in the area that made escape difficult, but we found a little hollowed-out tree to seek shelter in while the angry Pokemon went by. We emerged when it was quiet again, but I knew we had lost some ground.

July 16th: [3] | [1]
Prompt Response: After emerging from the woods, it looked like Growlithe and I had a pretty good shot at catching up. That is, until I took a tumble in a little ditch, rolling my ankle slightly. Growlithe was at my side in an instant, his warm tongue lapping at my cheek to encourage me to get up and keep going. After a moment of rest I got up and we pressed on, albeit a bit slower than before.

July 13th: 10 | 1
Prompt Response: With careful steps, I try to make my way across the stones. My faithful Pokemon that will fit there ride upon my shoulders which... Really doesn't help balance, does it?

This proves a huge problem as I stumble on the rocks and fall in the water.

July 14th: 12 | 1
Prompt Response: It's about this point I realize it might be prudent to put my partner in their ball. There's no way I could possibly squeeze on this ledge with them on my shoulder! And I don't want them to try and make that on their own, either! So I draw their ball to try and get them back in.

They refuse, settling more firmly on my shoulder. Once again this proves unbalancing and I soon find myself falling. Again. Ouch.

July 15th: 16 | 1
Prompt Response: Already bruised and battered and wet from the previous two obstacles, regardless of outcome, when I see the Spearow and Beedrill, I weep and start running as best I can. Hey, I fell, I'm sore, that's not some very good running at the best of times! Today is no better than yesterday and more bruises and aches join the previous day's.

July 16th: 5 | 3
Prompt Response: A field... An open field... It looks so promising! But there's caution to be had, right? Anything could be out there! I approach with caution born mostly from bad experience after bad experience. Blessedly nothing happens. I pause near the edge of the field to simply collapse in unrestrained joy that I didn't add to my bruises and simply lay in the grass for a moment because dang it feels nice to not trip on something.

July 13th: [19] | [3]
Prompt Response: Coming to the stepping stones and rushing river, Sceptile and I narrow our eyes in determination. With great agility we speed through the stones and avoid the raging waters like it was nothing at all.

July 14th: [2] | [1]
Prompt Response: Sceptile and I glared at the narrow pass but nodded to ourselves. We had to push onward. Doing the best we could we faced off with the narrow space but lost our footing several times. It took all the moves we had not to fall completely downwards but it cost us precious time.

July 15th: [16] | [1]
Prompt Response: Having lost some of our steam, Sceptile and I made a mad dash for the forest in an effort to pick up the slack we had lost. However the pokemon of the forest had other ideas and while we were able to dodge most of the projectiles, one lucky timed shot and a low hanging branch made us stumble yet again.

July 16th: [17] | [3]
Prompt Response: Bursting out into the open field after having flung off the attackers, we managed to catch a break after our mishaps. It felt almost nice to see the wide open space and field of flowers but it wasn't time to stop and smell the roses. Grinning we felt amped up again and began to make up for lost time.

July 13th: [4] | [#1]
Prompt Response: I was confident at the start, until we reached the river. Watching the water rush by gave us both pause, forcing us to think together about how to get through this without problems. I grabbed my partner and proceeded across, but the rocks were just too slippery and into the water we fell. We'll have to make up time and distance as soon as possible.

July 14th: [12] | [#1]
Prompt Response: I peered over the edge and then glanced at my partner. We though the stepping stones were rough, this was going to be a nightmare. We started across the ledge slowly, but my foot slipped on some gravel and down I went. I thankfully caught the edge and my partner helped me back up. That didn't matter though. I got scraped up quite a bit with the tumble and now we were even further behind.

July 15th: [18] | [#2]
Prompt Response: I gasped at the screams from behind and turned with my partner to view the horrors headed our way. We'd already had so much bad luck, how could things have gotten this much worse? We ran, trying to escape the forest as quickly as we had entered it. I was thankful for my partner's ability to alert me of the obstacles in our path. It took quite the effort and we took quite the beating, but we just barely made our way out of the forest...though not without quite a few more scrapes and bruises.

July 16th: [17] | [#3]
Prompt Response: Coming out into the field, still a bit broken and bruised, was a lovely sight to behold. I breathed a sigh of relief and looked at my partner. Unless there was some awful trap hidden under the grass and flowers, we were nearly homefree! I grinned and bolted out across the field, glad to encounter nothing terrible for once along the way.
