Seeing as his presence had been detected by the red haired woman, Garrett decided to add his own words to the conversation, he did not like the tone in which the woman spoke threats aside. " I believe the lady gave you her answer madam... if you have no other business I would suggest you allow Ms Rune to conclude her business."
as he spoke he stepped forward with measured steps, each one balanced to allow for instant movement if need be. the floor provided an adequate surface for his footsteps to resound in the shop.
Closing the gap, Garrett walked right past the woman and moved to stand closer to Rune, though slightly to the left and with clear space to draw down on the woman, in addition to this he made a show of resting the palm of his hand on the pommel of his sword while staring down the woman.

Rune kept her gaze on the red head, narrowing her eyes a little. "I don't know who you are, but anyone for working for that witch is an enemy. There's no way that I would ever help you get to Artemis." Before she could say anything else, she took notice to Garrett. Rune didn't want a fight to happen within her shop, but it seemed as if one was about to break out. 'So much for not fighting, but I can't let her near Artemis.' At the same time, she was relieved that Garrett was there. Perhaps she wouldn't have to worry about fighting herself, but she knew where her blade was and she would use it if the need arose.

Aiko was unfazed by the arrival of the knight. His threats fell short of her. And his hand on his sword's pommel scared her not."Do you think a sword scares me? And I believe this was a private conversation. Now be so kind and back off."She snapped her fingers and dark tethers shot out towards Garrett. She then directed some towards Rune to bind her and to keep her in place."Your groundless threats do little to a girl like me. Now be a good boy and stay. And you girl, you be a good girl and lead me to the well."
The muted rasp of steel on leather could be heard as Garrett's longsword cleared its scabbard in the blink of an eye flashing upwards in a diagonal cut splitting the tethers before they could impact and bind him down. shifting back a step to create a more effective striking space, Garrett settled down in to a defensive medium guard. feeling his face harden in to the usual impassive mask that he would get durring combat he took note that those bindings had come from nothing. which meant...
' A magic user...'
Narrowing his eyes his voice came out in a clipped hiss as he spoke one final warning.
" It's not the sword you should be afraid of, but the one who wields it Mage... I say once more and be done. you have your answer. Now leave, or a fight you will have."
casting his eyes around the room he took note of the terrain and how he could go about using it to his own advantage... or lack there of... his sword was a battlefield weapon and in the hands of a lesser swordsman would be limited in its use within the confines of a shop but it would pose little problem for him, instead what worried him was a lack of room to maneuver since he was unable to rely on the usual magical nullification and augmentation that would have been provided by his lady. speed would be paramount in the upcoming fight.

was the last thought that passed through his mind as he focused once more on his adversary.

Rune winced in pain as the tethers wrapped around her, trying her best to break free. 'What should I do? I can't get free.' Looking at the tethers, she noticed that they were of the darkness. 'Wait a minute. If these tethers are made of darkness, then I can use my magic to break free.'"I'm not leading you anywhere. Light wave." At that moment, a wave of light swept through the shop and destroyed the tethers. "I'm not big on fighting, but I can defend myself."
Aiko looked over to the boy and only sent more in his direction."You think you scare me boy? I've fought tougher things than you."She smiled as she captured the girl but jumped back when she sent out a pulse of light. She hated light magic. Shadira didn't tell her about this girl's light magic. She needed to retreat for now. But she couldn't leave empty handed. She needed something of Rune's to draw out Artemis. She snapped her fingers and sent a bird of darkness into a corner."You won this fight girl, but I will win the battle."She dashed out of the shop. The bird would return to her when it gathered what it needed. She headed back to the Dark Castle, as she called it.~Exit Aiko~

Garrett pointedly ignored the Mages taunt and watched with a small hint of amusement as the aggressor beat a hasty retreat after casting one more spell. oddly enough it was not targeted at them, but when the darkness took shape he felt his eyes widen slightly and he immediately shifted his focus from the enemy retreating to the enemy remaining. stepping forwards to present himself as a viable target and give Ms. Rune a clear line of sight on the thing he asked. "should we deal with this... thing and then follow her? I believe my armor can wait until a threat to your person has been dealt with..."
he made sure to never take his eyes off the bird. unsure as to what was going to happen. he knew that one should not always judge the damage something could do by its size or inconspicuous appearance.

Rune watched the girl take off and released a sigh of relief. Looking to the bird, she narrowed her eyes a little. "We should leave that girl alone for now. I don't want to start an pointless fight. However, I don't like the idea of that bird being here. Something tells me that it was left behind for a reason." She looked down a little and grabbed her gear. Without hesitation, she grabbed her blades from their case and attached them to her side. "Let's just get out of here before she comes back."

The bird listened in on the conversation and eventually flew down and dispersed to go under the door before reforming and flying away to who knows where.
Garrett tensed and prepared to spring forwards as the bird of shadows took flight only to stop in a state of mild suprise when it flew beneath the door and disappeared.
shifting his guard to a lower, more relaxed stance, Garrett could not help but shoot a questioning look over to Rune, wondering if she had any clue as to what was going to happen next.
"That was...unusual..."
he could not help but mutter as the apparent danger had left.

Rune watched as the bird flew away and relaxed a little. "Something tells me that it wasn't no ordinary bird. I wonder what its purpose was." She sighed a little and adjusted her gear. "There's a cave just outside of town we can go to. It happens to have some great gems and minerals to work with. Shall we get going?"
Sheathing his sword without ceremony now that the danger seemed to be completely gone. Garett took a short moment to relax before turning back to Rune. Nodding towards both her assessment of the situation and her plan of action.
One can only speculate. And yes, let us be on our way. The sooner we arrive the less chance that that Mage has to do something... unpleasant."
Reaching down, The knight habitually checked the pieces of armor that he still wore along with the poutches attached to his belt. Satisfied that he was ready to go the knight strode over to the door but before he opened it he shot one more glance to the owner of the store to see if she was following or had paused to gather more supplies.

Rune smiled and took one last look around, making sure everything was in order. Luckily, they were able to avoid a fight. "I'm all set to go actually. All I have to do is lock up. And I'm glad that you're coming with me." Without hesitation, she grabbed her keys and locked up. "The caves aren't too far from here so we can walk. The good thing about being here is that you can always see the Academy. In other words, if you ever get lost, just look for the Academy towers and they will lead you back into town." She smiled and led the way to the caves.
