Lafayette touched down in Iki Town, finally fully awake and aware of his surroundings. He was rather disgruntled to be back in these tropical islands to be honest, obviously the opposite mind set of anyone else. But given what had happened well… he wasn’t entirely in love with the place as others might be. He’d rather vacation in Snowpoint if he had an option but well… that was not where the egg turn in and all was so he just had to deal. He returned Dova, leaving Noah and Cheri out to explore while he headed his way to the counters to turn in the eggs. This s**t was heavy and he pretty much dropped the bag on the counter and let them spill everywhere, much to the luau girl’s surprise.
"Here." He remarked in a slated tone. The young woman looked a bit concerned, eyeing the eggs before beginning to carefully pick them up and count them off. ”Ah, thank you sir. Were you registered for the event…?” Lafayette made a face that clearly indicated he didn’t know the answer to that question, nor did he want to provide one. The woman looked… a bit fearful and eventually Cheri approached and climbed up onto the counter to intervene. She offered up the communicator to the woman, apparently displaying registration information. When had that happened? Lafayette knew he certainly hadn’t set that up. Maybe Juliean?
That made sense. The woman seemed to calm down a little bit, though her unnerved status remained especially with the blank stare of Cheri upon her. Eventually everything was tallied and accounted. ”Here you are sir! It looks like you got all fifty eggs! That’s a fairly impressive accomplishment.” She handed him a ticket, Lafayette squinting at it in confusion. ”That’s a voucher for the shells you collected as well. They were in the eggs. You can use that to buy prizes from one our booths.” The woman gave a gentle smile. ”Please, enjoy the festivities from here on out. I think you deserve it.”
Lafayette just grunted and nodded, retrieving his bag, and giving her a little nod. He still wasn’t feeling … sociable but he supposed it was nice to know he could get a few prizes for his efforts. He headed for the booths to look, figuring he’d get it out of the way now.

Zak smirked his usual confident smirk. "Oh no I do; in fact, I sink it may have been a little less zan a veek, but you've still been razzer generous vis your praise lately," he pointed out. He shifted, eying her a bit and then shrugging. "I can understand. Plenty to get distracted by, after all," he agreed vaguely. He smiled in amusement as Scarlett tried to contain her laughter, taking a sip o fhis drink as he did. "Fair enough, but it still could have at least been little hollow plastic bobbles or somesing," he sarcastically griped. He nodded as she commented on picking her prizes, giving her a bit of an odd look when she mentioned the other ones. He... hadn't thought much about them at all either, really. He'd probably just end up doing pretty much the same, and putting them off (or forgetting about them). The prizes weren't... exactly... why he'd done this, after all. They were a good benefit, a great excuse, but... Hm. Well, it didn't matter why he'd done it. Mostly, it was just competitive thrill. Motivation. Something to do.
He shifted a bit at the persistent praise, or rather, comparison, looking almost... uncomfortable? He managed a slight, modest smile, but it still wasn't his usual reaction. It was certainly odd... not even he could really explain it. Then again, he was in a sort of funky mood, so maybe that was it? Sure. Yes. That was it. He seemed to recover after her consideration, and put on a bit of a smirk. "Vell, to be fair, I only had two or three out at a time too," he admitted, "I just svitched zem when anyone got tired." He listened as she listed all the cities, raising an eyebrow at her. Had she really thought about this that much? Criminy... He smiled though. It was amusing. "Lumoise vasn't too bad for me," he commented, before pointing up, "I had pokemon taking an aerial view, and vorking togezzer." As if on cue, Rufflet fluttered down and landed on his shoulder. He smirked, scratching the bird's chest feathers, surprising him and earning a floof-response, but the bird relaxed, and begrudgingly accepted the affection.
He glanced over as she started a new topic, absently sipping his drink. He looked down at it, licking his lips and nodding a bit as he listened, then took another drink, before pausing, eyes wide as he looked back up at her, and stared a moment. It was an odd reaction, but maybe he just hadn't expected it? or expected something so seemingly forward? He recovered, though, and lowered his drink, smiling. "Is zat your reward for me, zen, Mishka?" he replied, as equally seemingly suggestive. He was careful not to make his tone imply too much, however, so that if she really meant just going and hanging out, it wouldn't seem as though he was expecting more. He leaned back, though, giving a nod and a slight smirk. "Sounds good," he agreed more conclusively, finishing off his drink and moving to stand.

Scarlett chuckled, smiling at Zak as he boasted of his accomplishment. There he was. That smug, confident smile he had... Maybe she had been laying the flattery on a little thick, but she didn't see what the harm was, really. Sure she supposed it could be suspicious, but she didn't have any real malintent behind it. "Hm... I suppose I have. Perhaps I'm just in an exceptionally good mood, and pleasantly surprised by your success? If you want me to tone it down though...." She shrugged, leaving it up to him. Laying off the flattery was no skin off her nose. It was actually amusing that he felt like he was getting too much praise. She didn't think that ego of his had a limit. Or it was as she thought, and maybe he just felt suspicious from her generosity, which was fair. She was also mildly surprised he simply agreed with her distraction. She would have thought he'd make some playful comment on that, about being too distracted to reward him properly, or... Well really there were a lot of responses she expected. His vague agreement was not one of them, but she didn't question it.
Really, she was far too amused by the idea of the eggs being filled with feathers to really focus much on anything else, her mind going through the terrible scenarios that could have brought. Not only was there the issue of trying to count them as they had here with the shells, but what if someone had curiously opened an egg and gotten their feathers inside blown away then too? Been suspected of bringing an already used egg? It was too comical for her. She didn't even know why she found it so funny to think about, but the idea of event personnel scrambling to grab feathers as they blew everywhere was hilarious. She blamed the alcohol. At least Zak wasn't looking at her like she was an idiot. In fact, he seemed amused by her amusement, which was interesting."Mm, yeah... That would have been a better idea." She agreed. "Like those little cheap plastic beads that you could make costume jewelry from as a kid... Well I know you probably didn't do that, but you have to know the ones I'm talking about. They were almost like legos." Scarlett suggested, failing to recall the name for the things.
Scarlett noticed the look of odd discomfort Zak got as she praised his ability in spite of using his pokemon, since she had done the same thing and he'd still made record time. She gave him a curious look at the modest smile he gave. That was... New. She didn't recall him ever wearing such an expression. It was.... Cute. A light smile crossed her lips but she quickly glanced to her side, taking another sip of her drink to hide it. She was highly tempted to ask him about his strange and sudden modesty, but instead relented, admitting that it sounded like he had a team of pokemon working to help him find an egg, rather than only one or two as she'd done. Somehow, this seemed to allow him to relax again. It was so odd. Then again, should she really be surprised? He'd been behaving oddly ever since that game of basketball. It seemed like these days she should be expecting unexpected behavior from him. There will still glimpses of his usual self every now and then, but she had to wonder what brought this all on. He even insisted that he only ever had two or three out too, rotating as parts of his team grew tired. "Okay sure, but one or two more pokemon isn't going to make the difference between a few weeks and less than a week." She teased lightly.
She glanced up as Zak explained his strategy for tackling the bigger cities, gesturing to the rufflet who soon landed on his shoulder. "Ahhhh.... Y'know, that's what I shoulda done. Rave could have used echolocation from above. I didn't even think of that." She laughed. "Then again, for most of those cities I was battling gyms... Yeah, Celadon, Goldenrod, Mauvile, Castelia... Guess I just left the searching to my pokemon and they pulled through without any issues so I didn't think of a way to make it easier. Heh." She chuckled. "Man... No wonder Vandal's pissed at me..." She mumbled quietly, mostly to herself. Maybe she owed the zoroark an apology... Maybe. She'd think about it, but not now. She turned her attention to the rufflet again with a smile. "What a cutie~ Rufflet and braviary are good pokemon... Not my style though. I think if I ever got a bird, I'd be an archen or a wingull. Maaaaybe even a chatot." She mused.
As Scarlett explained possible plans for the night, she noticed Zak's abrupt stare, a humored expression crossing her face. What was with that look? It wasn't disbelief. In fact, he seemed surprised, but whether that was a good or bad sort of surprised, she couldn't tell. Nor did she know what he find so surprising. His reactions were getting more and more curious by the minute. Even more interesting, however, was his recovery, smooth as ever. Scarlett tilted her head ever so slightly. She... Couldn't get a read on him. This was new territory, interesting, strange, a little concerning. Much like the way things had been on her ship, but at least the atmosphere wasn't nearly as tense here. "Mm, I thought it would be fun." She suggested with a shrug and smile, glancing off to the side. Plus, though she hadn't really planned it, she supposed it would provide a way to maybe... Figure out why he was acting so weird. As Zak gave his accent and stood, Scarlett followed suit, pulling out her ride pager to prepare herself a taxi. "Alright then. Have a preference for the kind of scenery? Or would you rather I surprise ya?" She asked. There was also the matter of stopping by a liquor store of some kind to stock up on drinks for the night, but depending on where they were going, Scarlett could figure out a way to make a side stop before continuing to their destination.

Zak scoffed and shook his head. "You know I enjoy it," he replied simply. Suspicious, yes, but he wouldn't say no to more flattery, especially as it seemed to be without consequence, for now. He nodded, pointing a bit in agreement as he sipped her drink. "Zose vould have been good," he agreed, in her reference to the little beads. He didn't comment on whether he'd played with them as a child or not, though, admittedly, he hadn't. He hadn't been quite that unexpectedly odd as a kid.
He shrugged a little, smirking quaintly, but not quite meeting her gaze at the tease. Alright, alright. Was she trying to make him blush with all this praise or something? It wasn't going to work. Probably. He gave a rather confident, familiar grin at her additional comments on the cities. "So zat's how you got so many badges," he caught on, his grin growing a bit. He knew it couldn't be consecutive. And seeing as he'd been in most of those places himself, he knew about how many badges she could have gotten from the egg hunt alone. he frowned in confusion at the mutter, but didn't comment, his attention more caught onto Rufflet. "Vhy am I not surprised..." he chuckled in amusement to her possible bird options, his attention still on petting his own flying type. At least, until she had drawn attention to the matter at hand, his reward.
Once he'd recovered -- and tried to ignore her reaction to his odd response -- he got ready to leave. "Not especially..." he started slow, catching on. He thought they were going to just step outside, stay close... If they were leaving, he needed to exchange his shells. "But, I need to take care of some things and change clothes. So, vhy don't we meet up at ze pokecenter in a little bit? Zen you have time to decide on how you vant to 'surprise' me," he offered, answering, but giving his own timeline, at the same time. He would exchange the eggs for whatever came to mind once he got there, and swing by the pokecenter or something to wash up, and get dressed. And maybe deflate his soccerball to put away in his bag.

Scarlett's passive expression broke out into a smug grin when Zak insisted she knew he liked it, pretty much verifying that she did indeed know and that clearly there was nothing more to say on the matter. Instead, they had moved on to much more important topics, like what should have been put inside the eggs to make them a lighter load. She was glad at least that he knew what she was referencing when she suggested plastic beads and agreed with her. Mm yes, nothing was quite so satisfying as agreeing over cheap plastic childhood beads.
The discussion over how well they did in the race however, was probably the first arguments, or disagreements in general they'd ever had that wasn't serious or tense. Not to mention, Scarlett felt like she was seeing a different side to Zak, with softer, modest, and even embarrassed expressions. It was strange, but interesting, and she took note of each new one she saw. At least he finally seemed to concede to his success, or rather shift the focus onto her badges. "You act like this is news kotik. I told you I was gathering badges as I traveled and found eggs. How did you think I was getting them?" She asked playfully with a chuckle. Not that she didn't receive a poke in return with her bird choice. Scarlett laughed and shrugged. "Hey, what can I say? If the theme fits, may as well stick with it." She suggested.
Giving Zak his options however, it seemed he didn't have a preference for where they went, which was fine with Scarlett. She had just the place in mind, but Zak insisted that he needed to change and take care of things. The Luau was a fairly crowded event, as more trainers piled in, freshly woken from their slumber to rejoice in the festivities. It was annoying to Avikna, having to push her way through to keep within arms reach of Tay. She couldn't let the teen get to far away, lest someone snatch up the girl once again. Thankfully, Tay stopped to watch a few woman Hula dance, giving Avikna some time to collect herself. Arms crossed with a scowl, as per the usual, the red-head watched the woman dance as well. Tay held a wide grin, her mouth slightly agape as she watched them sway their hips, move their feet and wave their arms from side to side. It was a pretty elegant dance, one that told a story, but to Avikna it was just dancing.
Arietty nodded firmly to Jas' reply. "Yes. Our trainers are a lot alike, so I image my trainer simply finds it easier to relax around someone like-minded." She motioned slightly with her claws towards Jas. "You and I, we're alike as well, not only are we the same species, but we share similar trainers." Tilting her head, a curious gaze then shifted over her eyes. "I dare say we're likely just as strong as one another." A light chuckle escaped the lizard's maw after saying that. She wouldn't like to test that however, she didn't feel as though she had to, neither of them boasted about their strength, rather Jas hadn't yet to her. It was nice to think of Jas as a friend and not competition. Whatever the case, Jas rolled over Arietty's question, skipping right to her tale. She somewhat liked that curious gaze of Jas' It made him seem so innocent... it made her feel somewhat older, which could be the case. "Ah, yes. Well, where should I begin? Hmm... Well, after we left that place with all the humans, we traveled some to train, but then Avikna ran into an older human... I believe Mave calls him her Grandfather? Well, he told us all about Tay and Ookoth- oh! You've never meet Tay. She's a small human, a wild one we came across in a cave. She was taken by Avikna's father. Get this, she can speak our language. It's quite a shocker. Anyway, After Avikna learned where Tay and Ookoth were, we traveled to find them right away." Arietty paused, looking up to the sky. Motioning towards a single drifting cloud. "You'd likely not recognize Ookoth." The lizard began once more. "Ookoth was the one the humans call Rayquaza, you remember him from that strange... ball?, was it called? Anyway, he's like you and I." Arietty then motioned towards the megastone, wrapped around her wing. "We nearly escaped with our tails intact. My trainers father... is quite scary, and strong." Pausing a moment to let Jas take it all in, the lizard then offered another smile. "And then, we started to travel all over again, Tay wanted to collect those things the other humans were collecting. " Arietty's gaze then fell to the ground below them. There were far more humans here now, then there were before.

Ajicka nodded a bit, eying the guy. She wasn't going to say anything, but he sounded a bit... pathetic, in this sense. She imagined it wasn't how it sounded, but that was how it came off. He only did the hunt because he was left waiting, and now he'd go back to waiting until he shuffled off to busy himself again. He made it sound like his whole schedule, his life, revolved around this girl, even when she was off on a date with her boyfriend. Either they were really close friends, with perhaps a bit of an unhealthy dependency, or....
Whatever. Not her concern, and she wasnt' going to just shove her opinion out there. "Yeah, same," she replied easily, tossing her stuff as well. She hung back to recall the rest of her pokemon. "See you later. And good luck on... everything, I guess? Hope Isis gets back to you," she added, giving a wave before turning to recall her pokemon.
And speaking of her pokemon, Jas was listening curiously to Arietty. "I suppose that makes sense..." he remarked. He gave her a quizzical look at their apparent similarities -- it sounded a bit more like happenstance to him -- but gave a happy grumble at the comment on their strength. "Probably!" he agreed. He listened with vivid interest as Arietty regaled her tail, his tail swishing anxiously behind him. It sounded quite intense. He remembered Ookoth, but he was more surprised to hear the girl could speak 'their language'. Meaning pokemon? Huh... That sounded almost like Ajicka. Not that she could understand or converse in pokemon, but she tended to read them better than she did any people, at least.
"Wow!" he exclaimed, as the story came to an end, "That sounds amazing! Did you guys battle Avikna's father??" he asked. From what she said of him, that must have been a terrifying battle... The whole thing sounded a bit like something out of an action movie!.

While he was the first to admit that it was far from the most fulfilling plan in the world, Zero at least tried to take it all in stride. Something about running around the world all of a sudden, and spending time with other people, almost reminded him of the flow of time... It was a bit reassuring to think that he was moving away from just breaking down in the mountains somewhere. But, he wasn't there to think too hard on it. There wasn't anything urgent on his plate, so he had time to explore and find some other ways to stay occupied.
Once they'd both thrown away their food, the two trainers were both set and ready to go, good to go their separate ways. "You too," he responded, returning his own extraneous team members. "She'll be fine. I'm sure the time's just feeling a little exaggerated right now, so they'll probably wrap up before too long." With all his pokemon in tow, and a hand on Nova to keep her from wandering off for more sweets, Zero was ready to head out.
He took a few steps towards the door, but found a thought coming to his mind, something he felt he may as well mention. She was the one that talked about all that stuff... he mused in his head, before turning back to tell the brunette one last thing. "Oh, and Ajicka. I don't know how high it is you want to go, but if you're intent on being the strongest..." He paused for half a second, wondering if it was worth even saying. "...Then you might want to avoid Sinnoh for a while. There's someone who goes well beyond being strong."
As he let the words come out, Zero realized only partway through that he didn't truly know how to phrase it all. But by the time he could think to stop and collect his thoughts, he already said everything he could, without sitting down and getting into a larger conversation. They were both ready to move on, so perhaps it was best to just leave it at that. Turning away one last time, he started on his way to take his leave, exiting the Pokemon Center and heading out to the town proper.

As the hula dance continued, Avikna found her gaze drifting, though she was still listening to the music somewhat. The beating of the drums was somewhat hypnotizing. Tay was still entralled with the dancing, though at some point, one of the women invited Tay to join them, along with a few other young boys and girls ranging from around Tay's age to much younger. It started a impromptu hula lesson. Tay enjoyed this greatly.
Arietty in the meantime was also enjoying herself. She was glad to finally meet a familiar face as to be able to reconnect. It helped that he was also the same species as her. In terms of strength, Jas replied with a likeable response, not denying they might be on equal terms in the way of strength. With Jas' question, Arietty nodded her head. "We did." She replied. "It was about the hardest battle I think we've ever done..." Not counting Sabrina, but that was due to Avikna only using three Pokemon, the Charizard felt it was in bad taste to gloat that she'd nearly single-handedly handled a gym as high leveled as Sabrina's. "Avikna even fought hand to hand with her father." The lizard swooshed her tail some side to side before letting it settle in place once more. "Her father was surprised she'd gotten so strong, even Ookoth stated he had more respect for her after we'd escaped." It was then Arietty's expression turned into a curious one. "To be honest, most of what had happened after i'd fainted from the battle with Avikna's father is a tad fuzzy. I woke here and there... I'm speaking mostly off what Kezia told us." Arietty was somewhat unaware that Kezia had met Ajicka and her Pokemon, though she was mostly associated with ZK. "Kezia is a Zoroark we picked up from that human gathering, where we last saw one another." Arietty went on to explain. "Seems her trainer abandoned her... or hopefully, she simply got separated from them. Her memory is a bit fuzzy after those other humans attacked." The lizard's eyes cast concern then, thinking back to when Kezia had joined them. She did feel sorry for the vixen.

Ajicka nodded absently, not quite knowing what he meant by that, but figuring, eh, sure, why not. Her mind was admittedly sort of already on figuring out her prizes. She glanced up and looked over with a slight frown when he spoke up one final time, but turned to him when he issued his "warning". "Then I'll head there right now," she replied flatly. Did he seriously think that meant anything to her, other than another way to test herself? She wouldn't avoid a challenge -- had he been listening? -- she'd go right towards it. She let him leave, though, before she pulled out her communicator, and sent him a quick message.

Yes, she was definitely going to harp on this. But, at the same time, there was no need to hold them both up. She headed out, a bit lost in thought, but refocused as she walked over to the prize stand. Browsing the booths, Lafayette manage to grab himself a few items that seemed worthwhile; or according to Cheri would be worthwhile. Tucking the latest purchases away as the last of his shells were swept away. He turned around and looped the bag back over his shoulder, turning and ushering Noah and Cheri to follow along. He only a few feet thought before he flinched, a pain in the back of his head causing him to stop.
"Nngh…," He grumbled, raising his hand to rub at the pained area, earning a look from both Cheri and Noah. ”Ahhhh good. I knew you weren’t going to get to far.” A familiar voice sounded, earning another flinch from the man. With a scowl, he peered over his shoulder to see Juliean standing there with a smirk across his face, Alakazam hovering close behind. The Aussie narrowed a gaze at the man, Noah doing the same. Cheri, simply stared as she often did.
"… Wha’ the hell do you want?" Lafayette growled, giving the man a leery stare. Juliean didn’t seem to care much about the hateful expression that he was receiving, twirling a finger around the lock of hair that fell across his face. ”What, I can’t visit to see how you’re doing? After all, you did just finish the task I sent you on in … what… two days? I’m impressed.” The man drawled, letting the strand go and spring back into place, He stepped around to stand in front of the man this time, stilling eyeing him thoughtfully a moment. Lafayette just stared back, clearly annoyed.
"Yeh, I did. Wha’… you got somethin’ else yeh want doin’?" He snapped, voice heavy with agitation. Juliean quirked an eyebrow, just silently staring at the Aussie before a hand went behind his back to retrieve something. Lafayette tensed, expecting the worst but was surprised when his boss offered him an envelope. ”Here you go.”
"What." Lafayette remarked, staring blankly at the envelope. ”It’s a reservation information for the Hano Resort here. Lovely place, glorious even and I thought you deserved the break for a few days.” Juliean remarked, his tone straightforward. Lafayette gave the man a suspicious look; a … break? What? What was going on here? Juliean seemed to note the suspicion, smirking a bit at shaking his head. ”Getting all those eggs in only a couple of days and catching me some new pokemon specimens? I’m impressed with you. For once. So, go ahead, rest up. Besides….,” He remarked, adjusting his glasses and absently waving a hand at Lafayette. ”The last thing I need is your stitching to explode and you bleed out everywhere and die or something. For now, just take the few days off. If I need you I’ll contact you, don’t worry.” The Aussie was silent for a long moment, still staring at the man in question. He could tell that Juliean seemed sincere about the offer though there was just … a strange hint at something else in the back of his voice. Really though, he had a feeling that if he didn’t accept this ‘gift’ there’d be repercussions. He didn’t want to deal with repercussions.
"… Thanks mate." Lafayette murmured, reaching out and taking the envelope. Juliean gave a sly grin and nodded, gesturing through the air again. "Of coouurrsee… enjoy. And do try to avoid getting eaten by any more pokemon, hm?" Lafayette scowled, ready to growl a response but the man had disappeared well before he had the chance. b*****d. With a sigh, he tucked the paper away and looked to Cheri. "… Where this place sheila?" The Espurr stared a moment before looking to the communicator and pulling up the information. She still had texts to respond too, she noticed but would get those once they moved. A chance to relax would be nice and the sooner they got there, the better. She pulled up the information and showed Lafayette, who unleashed Dova in the process so that the information could be passed along. Soon, they were all mounting up and heading off for the supposed ‘break’ he’d earned. Well… maybe.
