People streamed around him like a river. He knew he should run, that whatever had made that sound was very important, but he couldn't get his legs to lift him into a jog, let alone a run. The sky had been bright in the banquet hall. As he moved toward the sounds of disaster, the light dimmed until he couldn't see at all.
He shouldn't have been surprised. Hadn't it always been like this?
No. Brenley shook his head. He just needed to find a torch. Once he could see, everything would make sense.
Someone shoved past him, hard, and he dropped to his knees, using the opportunity to scrabble around in an attempt to find something he could light. But there was nothing under his hands except cold stone. And the world was slowly coming back into focus...

Wrath was there, and while at first the shock of the sky becoming dark and the appearance of the shadows that he could not see before had been a bit debilitating, he was now ready, and rather eager, to get started in helping out.
....Except that he couldn't get his damn torch lit.
Scowling to himself, he lifted his gaze, looking left and right for anybody that he might be able to light his torch off of. There was one, nearby, who had just been helping with the ballistas.
"You there!" He called out, voice booming as he jogged towards him, torch in hand. "May I?" He asked, though he barely waited for a response before lighting his torch with the other mans.

Reaching the outer ramparts, Poke looked around at the chaos that unfolded before her eyes went skyward. It was a lovely sky wasn't it?
Until he literally cracked and now she was staring at a mass of writhing black. And it shocked her that show now realized she was used to the sky being this way.
And then she was on the ground, blocking her ears in a useless attempt to keep out the screeching sounds. Someone shouted at her to get up, and she pushed herself off the ground and reached out into the darkness, as the light was gone now and she needed to grab something to give her some light.
Sadly the piece of wood she managed to find wouldn't catch on fire, so she needed some assistance. Nearby she saw someone with a lit torch helping others, so she hoped he could give her a hand as well
"Can I grab a light?" She asked, holding out her piece of wood.

In the midst of the frantic activity around him, Johan almost missed someone asking for a light.
The woman asking him was very nearly knocked to the ground by someone else, so he put a hand on her shoulder and guided her to a clear space, away from those carrying ballista spears, or various items for the barriers.
"Yes, here." he said, holding his torch to hers. He waved her towards the ballista line. "The ballistas need their ammo carried to them, if you care to join the line."

It was official, Alexei was a little tipsy, maybe more than tipsy. He punched another unfortunate soul in the face, had his beard tugged on quite violently, and shouted an apology to the both of them, then turned around the the bright eyed redhead with the most terrible sense of humor.
And he laughed so loudly he had to clutch his stomach, falling on his knees. "Quite the wit, small lady!"

OLLIE IS SECURING THE DOOR OLLIE HAS A TORCH.
He thought he'd been doing alright: stacking bits and pieces, odds and ends, against the door. This time, though, as Ollie turned to gather up more supplies his hands landed on a bundle of hay, instead of anything useful. He hesitated, holding it, eyebrows knitted into a puzzled knot in the middle of his forehead, and then looked around at all the torches blazing in the dark.
There was a thought, a lick of flame that swallowed all the wood. All it would take was one dropped torch --
He dropped the hay bail with a yelp and went for something else, instead.

His torch springing to life, Wrath was able to see more clearly in the darkness that surrounded him. Unbidden, goosebumps broke out along his arms and down his spine, but that chill was quickly replaced by battle lust, his blood pumping through his veins as his heart beat like a thundering drum in his ears.
"Thank you!" He gave the other man a quick nod, his gaze following the ballista as it was put into place, and then landing on the fifth, and final, nearby.
"Come! There is more work to do yet!" Of course, that would have been as far as most people went in encouraging another to get back to work, but not so with Wrath. He then grabbed dirge by whatever part of his clothing he could secure in his free grip, bodily dragging him towards the last ballista.
"Is this not rather exciting?! I only wish I had gotten up here to help out sooner!" He grinned, stopping to let the man who he did not know in the slightest go, before bending down to lift the large object, carrying it several paces before passing it on to the next in line.

"Absolutely" he replied, holding his torch to her length of wood. "We need help with the ballistas, and..."
He looked to where the swarms of torch-light were gathering.
"Over near the gates." he finished, pointing in the direction of both areas of need.

BRENLEY IS LOADING BALLISTA FIVE
He didn't see the creatures milling about below, all he knew was that a Great Knight was shouting about artillery and a very large person was dragging a very large projectile toward an unloaded ballista. He could help with that. Possibly. It was worth a shot either way.
Brenley struggled to his feet under the weight of his strange shoulder armor and hurried to take the shot from the large person—a man. A grinning, giant man. With him on their side, they might have a shot of denting their enemies.
With that thought lightening his mood, Bren dragged his burden through the dark, passing it to a girl he could actually see.
"Hey. Torch," he told the torch, stumbling away from its light to find a spot to sit down and catch his breath. That thing was way heavier than it looked.

"Right!" She thanks him for his kindness and ran off to help.
"Don't worry, I have it from here." She smiled at Brenley and picked up the Ballista. Holy molely this thing was heavy, but she had to do her part! One foot in front of the other, that's all there was too it. She wondered just how far she could take it.

Man, there was a lot of people here. Well, assuming from those who had found a lightsource.
He was a little late to the draw, on everything, having meandered through the halls of everything twice over to get his bearings. Feeling the energy that literally coursed through the ground around him, he struck forward, going to grab a piece of wood, hoping to set it alight as quickly as he could.
