So close... but no. No confusion. Misty gritted her teeth, expecting the worst, but blinked when her opponent ordered a less powerful move. Huh... Maybe he just wanted to avoid getting hit? That attack had gone pretty close. She smiled, giving a playful wink as she held up a finger. "Well then, that sure is nice of you to give us a break like that!" she commented. She lifted her hand, extending her arm out. "Let's go, Starmie! Use Water Pulse!" She stopped when she saw her pokemon freeze, though, static sparking around it. It seemed the paralysis was taking effect, after all... And her pokemon wasn't able to carry out the order she had given it.

It looked like Starmie wasn't able to attack because of the static that stuck to it. And, sadly, he didn't have any weak attacks to avoid bring it too much. Darn. Misty gave a heavy sigh, hands on her hips as Starmie proved unable to attack. Well, that was certainly a bummer. Not the most impressive way to go out. "Don't worry," she reassured her opponent, grabbing her pokeball as her pokemon was finally knocked out, "I'm sure Starmie understands." Though that didn't make the loss any harder to swallow for her. It was never easy when the opponent used type advantages, but she would have liked to have at least landed a confusion, and done some more damage. She wasn't a first gym, after all! Oh well.
Returning her pokemon, she put the ball away, and retrieved a few items from one of her assistants. Smiling, she walked over, thrusting her arm out to offer them to Mitsu. "Here you go!" she declared, offering the badge and TM, "The Cascade badge, to show you've beaten me, and a personal gift-- TM Water Pulse. I wasn't really able to show you its potential in this battle, but it can be pretty useful if you manage to land a confusion!" She gave a nod. "And congratulations on your win, by the way. You earned it," she added.

Alex and his pokemon continued the search through the forest-like area just outside of Cerulean City. For some reason, this place seemed to be teeming with wild pokemon as once again, it didn't take too long for the next one to appear before the trio. Eevee was nearest as the grass rustled close by.["I think I found the next target."]She said as Marshtomp and Alex made their way over to her. Marshtomp was curious as to what the wild pokemon would be as there was movement in the grass, almost like it was alive.["I've never seen that before."]The water and ground type exclaimed. This was getting interesting and even Alex was curious as to what would appear. It didn't take long for the pokemon to finally move out of the grass, it was an Oddish. "An Oddish? That might just work out well for totodile." Alex spoke, before taking his pokedex out of his pocket. The water pokemon trainer opened it up, aimed it at the wild pokemon. His pokedex replied in the usual robotic sounding voice. 'Oddish. This Pokémon is typically found roaming the forest, scattering pollen as it walks around. '

Alex closed his pokedex and put it away in his pocket before reaching for Totodile's pokeball. "Alright, Totodile, you're up, lets try our luck." He said while sending out the water type to square off against the wild Oddish. The shiny Totodile, was clearly ready for a chance to battle, so he was pleased to see the situation he was put into.["Sounds like fun, lets win this one."]Alex didn't know what Totodile was saying, but it was clear he was excited. With that in mind, he grinned and asked Totodile to start off with an Ice Fang. As that attack hit the grass and poison type, it became frozen solid. With a second Ice Fang, the battle was over before it had really started. Of course Alex was pleased, but that had to have been one of the fastest battles with a wild pokemon he had. "Great job, Totodile, though, this isn't the end, we're gonna challenge the gym. I always wanted to battle another water pokemon trainer. Of course I plan on winning with my own water types." He said with a chuckle as he didn't plan on making the next gym easier on himself.
