Teddy and his two reptilian Pokemon rushed over to Bulbasaur as the battle ended, Teddy picked up him up and threw him in the air. "You did it Bulbasaur! We won!" Teddy yelled. Returning Bulbasaur to his Pokeball, Wani-Wani and Sani-Sani both crawled back onto Teddy's shoulders. As Andrew returned his defeated Pokemon back into their ball, Teddy approached him to shake his hand. "I wasn't sure what to think when you challenged me. But thanks for the battle. I've never battled before. It was quite the experience!" Teddy said. Andrew whimpered as he shook Teddy's hand. "That was your first battle? Jeez. You wouldn't have guessed. You should totally check out the gym leader challenge!" Andrew said, removing his Pokeballs from his belt, he handed the belt over to Teddy, not before handing him a token. "You should take this too. It's a voucher for one rucksack. Just like mine! I noticed you're carrying your stuff in a towel. This should help you too" Andrew said.
Teddy was shocked, he shook Andrews' hand again, thanking him profusely. With Teddy now belted and with a bag voucher, he was ready for his journey to continue. "And now once more into the breach I go! Andrew declared, picking up his lantern and blowing out the candle. When Teddy's eyes readjusted to the darkness, he saw that Andrew had gone. "But wait. You didn't tell me how to get out" Teddy said, standing in the middle of the cave once more. Lost.

"Oh yeah? I imagine that'd be interesting, having a number of them around." He chuckled at the thought of it, imagining all the duplicated Pokemon if one had more than a single Ditto. "I didn't know it was a Ditto at first, actually. Thought I'd found a pair of Staryu at the time." Hayes elaborated, remembering how he'd come across it and his Staryu... it hadn't actually sunk in that it was a (relatively) rare Pokemon, until Matt had brought it up.
While they talked, he noticed Ditto was staring at Matt's Pokemon and had a feeling it'd be transforming into one of them if he didn't say anything. Before he could, however, Matt took out the Boulder Badge and showed it to him, unable to stop himself from smiling. He whistled in response, impressed at the sight of the badge. It looked like Matt was a bonafide trainer, now, and on his way to accomplishing his goal. "Incredible, man..." Hayes said, trailing off as he remembered the plan of finding their friend. "Oh, maybe we should find Teddy first, though. I know he'll be interested in hearing about it too." He said after a moment, looking down at the Ditto at his side. "Mind transforming one more time, Ditto? It's time to go back into the cave." Hayes asked, and the Ditto reluctantly tore itself away from Matt's Pokemon; he'd let them all get better acquainted later on.
It only took a moment for Ditto to transform into Staryu once again, and after it had both it and the original Staryu would lead them into the cave, illuminating it as much as possible with their cores.

"- and then he sent out an Onix. Thing was huge! I don't think I've seen a Pokemon that large..." Matt trailed on about Brock's Pokemon as the two of them wandered through the cave in search of their missing friend, led by Hayes' Staryu and tranformed Ditto. Matt was actually surprised at how large and dark this cave was. It was more straight than anything though so he guessed it would be considered a tunnel instead? The two intrepid trainers traveled further down the tunnel. Matt spotted the ocassional Diglett and Dugtrio, but no other Pokemon. "So, how long have you guys been in here for? There seems to be some high level Pokemon, but are they all Digletts and Dugtrio?" Matt asked. The tunnel definitely seemed like a good place to train your Pokemon, as long as you didn't get lost. They had been walking for a few minutes with no sign of Teddy when Matt decided to try calling out. "Teddy, you in here?" He yelled out before turning to Hayes. "If we keep walking forward we're bound to run into him eventually, right?"

" I've always wanted to see one of those..." Hayes said after Matt had brought it up, interested in the Pokemon he'd encountered battling against Brock. Aside from a couple Bug-types and Ghost-types, he liked a lot of different types of Pokemon... and it sounded like Brock had a couple of interesting ones. After a while of wandering around in the dimly lit cave, and after Matt had finished talking about the Pokemon he'd battled, he asked how long they'd been inside.
"As far as I've seen." Hayes nodded in response to the question about the Pokemon in the cave. "It's interesting, right? Like... why're they all in the cave, and only them? I wonder if they dug it out themselves." He wondered, interested if Matt had any thoughts on it. He hadn't been able to figure it out from walking around, but he'd ask about it once they headed back into the city. "And all day, really... after we woke up and ate, we headed out here and have been wandering around in it ever since." Hayes answered; it hadn't actually felt like they'd been in it that long, but they definitely had been. After a while, Matt called out to Teddy and turned to Hayes afterward.
"I mean..." Hayes started, bringing a hand up and running it through his hair. "Hopefully? I doubt he'd go too far in the dark, but..." He trailed off, hoping he had a bit more sense than he did, running around the forest."Teddy!"

Teddy looked around in various directions. I don't even remember which way I walked in from before meeting that hiker guy he thought. Spinning around on the spot, Teddy decided his next direction through sheer chance. As he walked in the chosen direction, he motioned towards Sani-Sani. "What did you think of that then Sani? That's all of the Pokemon you'll be travelling with for a bit" Teddy asked. "Sandile Saan~" it replied. He seemed happy with the team. Teddy looked around and tapped his chin a bit. "I think it's best if you guys hop back into your Pokeballs for a bit. Till I figure out what is going on" Teddy said, removing the empty Pokeballs from his belt, he returned his reptilian friends to the comfort and warmth of the Pokeball.
Teddy then remembered his promise to Munchlax after his battle. He had promised him a treat when he woke up. Releasing Munchlax into the cave, he was still asleep. From his knapsack, Teddy pulled out another berry that he had fed Munchlax before, he saw Munchlax's nose twitch and he soon awoke. "As promised" Teddy said, throwing Munchlax the berry. As he ate it, a wide smile was on his face. Clearly Teddy was on Munchlax's good side.

Teddy looked down at his Munchlax who was busy scoffing his face with the last of the berry. He asked whether or not Munchlax was ready for another battle. Right on cue, a Dugtrio popped up from beneath them. Munchlax jumped into the battle and attempted a Metronome attack, only for it to use a rapid spin which didn't look to have effected the Dugtrio much. The fight was long and it looked like Munchlax was on his last legs, only for him to defeat the Dugtrio with a mighty lick. At the end, the Munchlax evolved into Snorlax and Teddy saw the lights of Hayes' Staryu in the corner of his eye. Followed closely by his new SNorlax, Teddy ran to his friends.

Hayes brought up an interesting point when he wondered outloud if the Digletts and Dugtrios had dug out the tunnel themselves. Matt hadn't even considered that, but it seemed likely now that he thought about it. "I wonder where this tunnel leads though..." Matt mentioned to Hayes, curious as to where they'd end up if they ever found the exit. Hayes then responded to Matt's idea that they'd run into Teddy eventually if they kept heading in the same direction, getting more worried the longer he thought about it until he also called out Teddy's name. Matt told his Eevee and Bulbasaur to stay close as the continued forward. Up ahead Matt saw a bright familiar light followed by the roar of a Pokemon he didn't quite recognize. A few moments later the figure of their friend appeared in the distance, followed by a large Pokemon that resembled Muchlax. Matt's first thought was that he was being chased, but he didn't seem worried so either it was one of his Pokemon, or he hadn't noticed it yet somehow. Regardless, Matt began waving towards Teddy as he got closer. "Teddy! Hey!!" He called out.

It didn't take long after they'd called out to Teddy for him to respond, as a short time afterwards a light appeared up ahead accompanied by a roar of some sort, and then a more familiar voice; their friend's. In the darkness of the cave it was hard to make out the person approaching, even with the light from the pair of Staryu, but it illuminated the cave enough to tell it was a person... and in all likelihood by the sound of their voice, Teddy.
"Over here!" Hayes shouted back, although he regretted it a moment later as he noticed another figure behind him. A large figure. What is that...? He thought, looking over at Matt who had called out to him as well. "Uh, do you have any idea what that is?" Hayes asked, although he doubted it; he'd been in the cave all day and didn't know what it was, and it threw a wrench in the idea the cave was only populated by Diglett and Dugtrio if it was a wild Pokemon.

Soon enough, the lights caused Teddy's eyes to see everything clearly. Not only was Hayes there with his two Staryu, but at some point they had come across Matt, who looking from his general body language, must have done well at the Pewter City Gym. "Well this cave is just full of surprises isn't it?!" Teddy exclaimed as he approached his friends, slapping them all heartily on the back as a sign of welcoming them back. "Where did Hayes pick you up from? You look rather chipper. Dare I say your trip to the gym was a storming success?" Teddy asked with baited breath. From what he could tell, his two friends seemed somewhat distracted. It took Teddy a second to realise what it was. "Oh. Hayes will be acquainted with this fella here in some way. This was the Munchlax Hayes gave to me as a gift. Snorlax, these are the guys" Teddy said, slapping the back of his hand against Snorlax's stomach as to alert him to who the guys were.

Matt simply shrugged in response to Hayes' question, having absolutely no idea what kind of Pokemon was following Teddy. A few moments after the three trainers were finally reunited, Teddy slapping them both on the back as was his tradition. Matt and Hayes conversed with their friend, constantly keeping an eye on the large Pokemon looming over them. It wasn't until Teddy spoke to Matt directly did he take his eyes off the mountain of a Pokemon. He asked where Hayes had found him and how the gym battle went. At that point Matt couldn't contain his smile like before. "I ran into Hayes outside the cave as he was coming back in to look for you. As for the gym..." Matt said, trailing off as he fumbled through his backpack and pulled out the Boulder Badge. "I won! I'll tell you guys all about it if you want." He said, beaming. After that Teddy finally addressed the elephant-sized Pokemon in the room, introducing it as Snorlax, the evolved form of his Munchlax. "Wow Teddy, that's two Pokemon you've had evolve already!" Matt pointed out, impressed.

As soon as Teddy was actually visible, he knew what the figure he'd seen behind him had been as it had followed close behind; a Snorlax. It was a surprise, definitely, but at least he knew it wasn't a wild Pokemon he'd found in the cave.
"It looks like all the training paid off, Teddy." Hayes said after they'd all greeted each other and Matt had explained how he ended up in the cave. He looked up at the Snorlax as he spoke, wondering if it remembered him; he didn't have much of a chance to talk to it in the morning at the Pokemon Center, and it'd been knocked out in the forest shortly after he met it. "I can't believe it's already a Snorlax..." Hayes added after a moment, tilting his head. It occurred to him that another surprise was that it fit inside the cave. He turned back to the two of them after that and looked at Matt. "Ah, right! Let's hear it." Hayes said, interested in hearing how he'd pulled off the challenge against the Pokemon he'd described.

Hayes mentioned to Teddy about Snorlax evolving quickly, which was true. "I think it was only his second match up too which is crazy. I ran into this crazy Hiker dude who appeared from the darkness and challenged me to a battle. Just seem to have a knack for evolving Pokemon I guess" he chuckled. It took such little effort so far for all of the Pokemon whom had evolved, Snorlax especially however. Matt mentioned about his gym battle, asking if Teddy and Hayes wanted to hear about it. Teddy sprang into action and clasped Matts hands. "You need to tell us every single step that you took! Don't leave anything out" Teddy said. Whilst he was still considering the idea of a gym battle, he wanted to hear how his friend had faired against a League Certified Leader.

Matt couldn't contain his grin when both Teddy and Hayes showed their interest in hearing how his battle went. He was the youngest of them after all, so the occasional recognition from them went a long way. He nodded to Teddy, who had grabbed his hands and told him not to leave anything out, and began to tell his friends about the battle. "The gym itself is surprisingly dark and plain, with rocks everywhere. What we heard about him specializing in Rock and Ground-types is true. I figured type advantage with Mudkip and Bulbasaur would be enough, but I was wrong. He has a Geodude and Onix, and both of them have the Sturdy ability that makes it so you can't knock them out in one hit from full health. I started the battle by sending out Mudkip, and it was going well until his Geodude used Magnitude... He ended up knocking out Mudkip before I could take out Geodude, so I switched in Skarmory. He swapped in his Onix and started using Rock Tomb on Skarmory. Skarmory got a good hit in with Metal Claw, but that Onix's Rock Tomb was too tough. I sent Bulbasaur out after that, and he switched back to Geodude. Luckily his Magnitude was a lot weaker that time, so I was able to knock out his Geodude with a Vine Whip, and his Onix with a Giga Drain. It was a really tough battle, and Brock has a really good battle sense about switching, even when he has the type disadvantage." Matt explain, obviously getting more and more excited the longer he talked about the battle.

A lot of the battle flew over Hayes' head, although he tried to follow along as best he could. It made him realize that Matt was as serious about it as one could expect to be, and that he hadn't needed to worry about it like he had back when Teddy and himself talked about how he might've been fairing at the Gym. He nodded as he listened, letting Matt go on about everything that'd happened without interrupting him; it wasn't like he had a lot to add to the tale (besides saying it was impressive), so he tried to take it all in in silence. After he finished, he'd probably ask him more about it in order to get a better understanding of everything that'd happened; but a light tremor underfoot distracted him before that.

Teddy's eyes sparkled as Matt recounted how his encounter with the Pewter City Gym Leader Brock went. At the end of it, Teddy was almost exhausted, he dragged his hands down his face "That sounds so cool. Man. Gym battles sound intense." Teddy said, the thought of battling for the Gym Challenge rooting itself more and more in his mind. "It sounds like he really gave you a run for your money" he continued as they walked down the cave tunnels. Teddy had returned Snorlax back to his Pokeball, as the cave began to shrink down. "I've been really thinking about this whole Gym Leader thing. Maybe I should give it a shot" he pondered, his hands held behind his head casually.
Then the rumbling began. "Will this ever stop?!" Teddy yelled. It was another Dugtrio. Fresh from the ground. Teddy released Wani-Wani into battle and set immediately into the battle. Teddy was beginning to notice that Wani-Wani was handling himself better with each passing battle. Maybe it was a good idea to try his hand at battling at a gym? With a final bite, the Dugtrio was defeated and retreated back into it's hole.
