SUSPECT'S INTERROGATION:

Opening dialogue: The doctor rests his chin on his hand and stares at the little court set-up in bemusement. With a smile he murmurs pleasantly, "I see you not only feel it worthwhile to waste your own time with this, but mine as well, hm?"

Where were they on the night of the death (October 25 - 31st): The doctor doesn't roll his eyes, but his smile conveys the distinct feeling that he's humoring you. "A rather ridiculous mission involving the chaotic entity you commonly refer to as the Haunted House."

What were they doing on the night of the death: (October 25 - 31st): The doctor smiles, "The mission, as per usual with Cael, went terribly awry. The council, as per usual, locked us there and left us to die. What was I doing, you ask?" His teeth flash in a small, almost predatory twitch of the mouth and then the leader's face relaxes back into something more socially acceptable, "I was dealing with it."

What were their relationships to the Council: With a dismissive wave, the doctor replies casually, "Oh, they were just the bureaucracy, you know. Useful at times, a hindrance at others, but nobody worth worrying over." His lip curls up slightly, "Paper shields are just so sadly ineffective when it comes to actual weapons."

What is their weapon/ what does it use: Tracing a finger across his throat in a fairly macabre way, it takes a moment to notice the necklace of jade and gold hanging there, "A bladed whip, my dear."

"Solia," Gale said, with some exasperation. "Leave him alone."

Marcus received a curious glance at first, Gale trying to determine what he was talking about, but then his brain clicked into gear, and he frowned a little, rubbing his brow.

"Possibly," he said finally. "But I'm not sure what that significance would be, exactly."

He swiveled in his chair to look at Rep, still frowning as he leaned back, crossing one leg over the other, nodding absently. His information about Dwight was severely lacking, so he couldn't determine too much about him from just what the others had said - though if Rep was correct, then they would have a key suspect in tampering with any sort of surveillance videos.

Which would get us SOMEwhere, Gale thought in frustration. But WHERE exactly, I have no clue.

His gaze went back to Jerry.

"You do have a point," he said quietly. "Personally I think Dr. H is more the type to let everybody else take the fall for him while he sits in the shadows and directs, but we're back to the start again - lacking enough evidence to move us forward."

Gale glanced back at Lucky, a slightly sardonic half smile on his face.

"Caelius," he said calmly. "However, it has little to do with the matter at hand, and all of us hold scars in one way or another. Being a hunter isn't exactly a walk in the park."

Solia slumped in her seat.

"Sempai, please." She gazed to Gale, begging. "He might have been an accomplice! Please, can I try to interrogate him and others?"

Marcus eye rolled. "Well, seems just like a normal day in Deus ex. Just with more dead people than normal."

"Dwight was the one who sent us the text to see H. All H did was ask us to "deliver a message" where the council was gathered. He gave Sherry an envelope, but we never got to hand it over to the council, for obvious reasons." Reason being that the council was dead and rotting.

"He didn't sound surprised when we said they were dead. He just said "the message was delivered as intended"." Whatever that meant.

Otto would be lying if he said he wasn't scared to be saying all this while the big bad leaders watched. But he tried not to let it show, displaying his top notch poker face he was known to wear with a disgruntled twist.

Dakota watched as H took the stand and narrowed his eyes. H wasn't really a enemy of Dakota's in any way. The man had literally mentored the trainee when he was younger and now well....

"You were dealing with it..." Dakota brought a finger up, "I seriously doubt that with all the confidence you just surely exhibited, you'd be able to sit on the stand and outright confess. That being said, information provided leaves us..." In Gale's words....

"Nothing."

He gave Gale a nervous grimace back but couldn't really find the right words in English to express his discomfort.

Good thing there was a nice sudden distraction.

"Did he just say vhat I think he say?" Lucky asked incredulously, specifically of Gale and Jerry. "Paper shield, actual veapon. Is that joke?"

Jerry was so red-faced, he made his scars look like white peppermint swirls. He was ready to flip his desk from the circle, directly at the snarky Life Lead's head.

But he sat still like a good boy.

H had to have done it. He HAD to have. Just look at that face, that snarky, grinning, calm demeanor...

Granted, the Sun Hunter did have a grudge, that was entirely beside the point.

I'm calling on a suspect!

Deryk paled a little as H spoke. That... definitely did not help put the man in a good light, especially with the whole paper shields comment. What if this was just a red herring though? In any case, he decided it was time to call someone else up. Someone who they were also kind of questioning.

"D-Dwight! Please come up to the stand."

SUSPECT INTERROGATION

Opening dialogue: The Life tech fidgets and looks generally uncomfortable. A few times he makes an aborted motion to wave at various hunters and trainees. Adjusting his glasses, he finally sits up straight and then asks, "So um...hey. Heyyyyy. I really don't why you wanted me here for this."

Where were they on the night of the death (October 25 - 31st): Flushing, Dwight scratches at his ear, "Well I was overseeing the portals for the Haunted House mission."

What were they doing on the night of the death: (October 25 - 31st):
Example post: "Dealing with the to and from involved with the mission. You know, making sure portals were working correctly on this end, and manning communications, getting back-up through when needed. Uh...for as long as I was allowed to." He grimaced slightly, "After that it was mainly doing what I could in case those on the mission were able to make it back alive."

What were their relationships to the Council: Dark eyes widened dramatically as Dwight squeaked "Me? And the Council? Nonono, no relationship. I'm just a lackey. A lowly minion! Not even worth noting really."

What is their weapon/ what does it use: Perking up a bit, he grins, "A blowgun. I know it sounds a bit odd, and like, I got made fun of a bit when I was a trainee, not gonna lie, but she's actually really badass!"

Now they were really talking. What H had to say was fascinating, even if the guy was more slippery than a greased up squid, it shed some pretty valuable insights into what had happened and possibly motivations behind the entire event.

"Sounds to me like some pretty ******** high tensions all around." He couldn't remember if there had been the same tensions and anger over the horsemen mission - a lot went on behind closed doors that never filtered down to them. They were all just puppets in all of this.

Lucky was right to jump on the paper shields comment he felt. Did that mean the council themselves were either unarmed or simply not privy to the kind of weapons Allan, Cael and the other leaders possessed?

Dwight he watched like a hawk, still mentally taking notes on everything. Rep wasn't particularly smart, but he was attentive to tone and appearance. Dwight was rattled by something, none of his usual snipe and swagger. And he'd worked on the portals.

"We should get his ******** partner in crime up on the stand you know, I want to see what Mark has to say about this s**t. Portals went down. Dwight implied there was a point he wasn't allowed to keep the portals up, why was that? Was it the council that told their little pet tech to put them down? Was it someone else? Lackey or not, every fat cat needs some rats."

"I agree. For 'as long as you were allowed' means you were either told to leave or something happened that kept you from maintaining a portal. Is there any reports on that and what affected your performance to keep the portal up?" He didn't like the idea that portals were kept offline.

"Seeing as most everyone was in the Haunted House, insuring that no one came back to Deus to help the Council would have been a smart move. An opportunity made during the chaos that was that mission."

[ OPEN DISCUSSION ]

Ami had resigned to sitting quietly for some time, brooding over the turn of events. She needed time to think, compose her thoughts. Everyone was bouncing all over the place, it hardly seemed organized. She wished they could've gone through events individually, but then again, what could you do with a bunch of hunters in one spot except absolute chaos.

Dr. H's and Dwight's testimonies didn't particularly surprise her. The Doctor was calm and collected, Dwight was jumpy and shrewish. A few seemed ready to convict the Doctor, but Ami wasn't so sure. His testimony was suspicious, and yet ... why would he make things so obvious? Then again, that might've been a trick as well. She shook her head once more. This was all getting too complicated.

Eyes narrowed at Dwight though. He'd been managing the portals? That certainly cast more suspicion on H. H could've ordered Dwight to let him return. Alternatively, Dwight could've been the one to do it. Hm.

At the topic of surveillance and video, Ami perked up. "Ah, I talked with Clarice-" A flick of her eyes over to Clarice, then quickly back to the court, "She said there was both an official report- I'm assuming that came from Otto- and a surveillance video." She'd written the words down exactly as Clarice had spoken them as they were important. "The video exists- or potentially doesn't if someone destroyed or tampered with it."

She looked down to her lock box. Recognition crossed her face. "Solia that might be what's in this box." After all, where better to hide definitive evidence than in a locked box where nobody but those who searched for it were looking? She put a protective hand on the box. Nobody was taking it any time soon, but if it was the key to the mystery ...

Ami looked back at the crowd. "Did ANYONE find a key of some sort in their search? One that fit this size? Do we know who has a master key?"

Solia sadfaced at Dwight. She expected better. At least make it look like he had nothing to do with it and not be so obvious. Lucky got a serious stare. "Just because some weapons are a little flimsy doesn't make them any less. Why you got something against paper? THAT WHY YOU WENT AFTER THE COUNCIL?"

Cue dramatic finger point.

----------

Marcus hummed. "What I find interesting is that whoever set up the council room supposedly made it look like it did when the bodies were found, meaning we might have false evidence. That aside, Ami, think Deryk might be able to break it open?" He gave the death trainee a curious look.

Ami gave a tiny snort at Marcus. "Do you think I would've hidden it from everyone if it was open? Of course it's still locked."

To the request for Deryk to pick it, Ami shrugged. "He's welcome to try."

Deryk looked up as he heard his name being dropped to go along with the box that they had found. Huh?

"Does it got a digital lock or something?" he blinked. He didn't really have any real lockpicking experience. Digital? He could try brute forcing it since he didn't have any other tools with him. Maybe. Runic stuff was... trickier and he hadn't really learned how to get into that just yet anyway.

Otherwise, he could try lockpicking he supposed.

"Er... got a hair pin or something, Ami?"
