The number of shadowlings was dwindling which had to count for something positive. Right? Yvette didn't quite dare to hope as ceruleans focused on the mostly empty Maul save for those who chose to stay behind and help defend the establishment one way or another. Were they victorious? Was this really it and could they all go home now?
Almost as if in response to her queries, she felt the ground shake then saw the larger shadowlings emerge as if they had been summoned. Dammit. She knew that things were not going to be as easy as that. Apparently these things were faster and tougher too given how one of them managed to knock her aside just as she was about to repeat what she had been doing earlier with their smaller counterparts with her fists. She was going to have to adapt to this...

Shopping should always be this awesome. It would make the boring parts so much less... boring. Wading through legions of foes to get through your chore list would eliminate tedium forever. Unless you got bored of fighting... but that was impossible... right? Definitely impossible.

Oh my Jack. What was it with her aim being off more than half the time today when it came to these shadow creatures? One would have thought that these larger ones would make for better target practice but it seemed that they were intent on proving her wrong with the way they were dodging her fists and tail as if this was a walk in the park for them. And they managed to nick her side yet again when she wasn't looking, the vicious things.
Flicking her gaze to the anima demon, who had warned her of an impending attack out of goodwill, and the nearby shadowhound, she closed the distance that remained between herself and them, deciding that it would probably be in their best interest if they watched each other's backs for a bit. "So... any of ya have a plan regarding these..?"

Kat grinned as she saw all the new boils and ghouls join in the fight happening around them. She found herself having a bit of fun despite the numerous bite wounds she was receiving from these larger shadowlings. Still she went at them with her claw like nails with a vengeance hoping to cause some damage. However, it looked as if all her hits were either not causing any damage what so ever or missing entirely. "Oh you have got to be kidding! Die you!" She hissed as she dodged another hit from the larger shadowlings around her.

Sometimes the best plan in unexpected situations that most had little to no experience in such as this was to go in without any at all. "I suppose if you put it that way then yes, scoring a hit on these nimble numbskulls while trying to avoid being nommed to death by them is certainly a good plan to go with for now!"
Yvette tossed her head back to laugh at Vesper's suggestion, opting for a slightly more reckless approach this time round as she let the next wave of shadowlings cling onto her legs before swinging her tail at them. Figuring that it would probably work in her favour if something came from their side rather than directly from the front whenever she tried to punch or kick them off herself, she grinned when she finally managed to score a hit after all the attempts she had made so far. It wasn't enough to kill the fella but it was still a start nevertheless.
"Not going to be very clawesome if they keep getting us when we haven't had much success with beating them at this more than half the time though. Perhaps we should wait it out a little, see if there are others we can cooperate with to make this a more effective endeavour?"

The men's room emitted the familiar sound of a flush and a dirty blonde boil with freckles and a floppy cap emerged from the restroom while still fixing the belt on his saggy, dirt smeared jeans. He'd come out to the maul with the few seeds he'd managed to save in order to buy some cleaner, non-hand-me-down clothes. He'd been in there the entirety of the shadow invasion (maybe he'd dozed for a few minutes) and only upon hearing the PA announcement had he tried to hurry things along. Something he'd eaten in the food court hadn't agreed with him and a residual gurgle in his stomach made the reaper grasp at it and frown. There was a soft pulsing glow for a moment as his familiar formed beside him, the giant tarantula moving her legs slowly as she adjusted to once again having substance. Honestly... she just hated being in the men's room.
"'Stelle.." Billy shrunk against the wall with a look of horror. "What's goin on?"
The tarantula scrambled up the wall and used Billy's head to help her see with her mulititude of eyes. "Oh my.. my my.." Her mandibles flexed as she surveyed. "It appears to be a battle!"

The Chimera paused in her stomping of the shadows to listen to the fizzled message that rang to life over the PA system. "Right, because it's ever been that simple?" Sure, they could attempt to vacate the mual, but Merry had a feeling it wouldn't be that easy. Nothing ever was, especially not in this town.
There were people that had paid heed to the warning, and they were now rushing towards the exits. Fearing the possibility of being trampled by fellow citizens, Merry reached for Than's hand and pulled the pup back against the wall and out of the way of anyone currently hurrying by.
It was then she noticed the lack of shadows nipping at their heels, and she frowned as she searched around them for any sign. "It couldn't have been that easy.." she murmured, pulled the fae-hound in closer against her, before stepping in front of him altogether when dark pockets began to form and grow from all over and much larger beasts emerged. "I think these guys will need more then a kick in the face, Than. Get ready."
She hadn't noticed the wall she'd backed herself and her friend into had been next to the bathrooms. Not until the sound of a flush and the appearance of a blond kid covered in dirt, and ..
"Is that a giant tarantula?!"

Billy hadn't expected to be spotted so soon and Estelle was quicker with a quip than he could ever be. "Oh he's been battling for hours in that bathroom!" A surprisingly sweet and feminine voice issued from the tarantula, followed by a soft laugh, and Billy turned a shade of embarassed red.
"I can fight.." he huffed like a typical teenage boy being doubted for anything. "Let's.. let's go then!" He pushed up the sleeves of his flannel and ran towards a group of shadows.
The tarantula had scrambled back down the wall and now stood knee high to the chimera ghoul who'd expressed surprise. She very articulately clarified. "I'm a tarantula familiar." Estelle's mandibles flexed. "My name is Estelle... a pleasure!"
Billy was now swinging his fists and kicking out at the shadow creatures. He wasn't doing very well, to be honest, but he got an A for Effort. He played more of a decoy role, being swarmed by shadows while Estelle did the real damage with her webs and pincers.
