She nodded. Now was the uncomfortable part. What was she to say now? She figured she could apologize, but what would she be apologizing for? Her feelings? Surely Tai would be offended. So she smiled, and nodded her head. She looked around.
"Soo...KNow of any amusing places anywhere?"

"Amusing hmmm..." he asked, pretending to be thoughtful as he silently thanked her for changing the subject.

"Well, we could always wander down to the teepee? I'm sure you would like to meet Celei and the others."

Esperanza was happy at this chance to go free. She smiled and looked at him.

One. Two. Three.

Nearly there!

The young mare trudged through the forests, head held high despite her eyes remaining trained upon the ground for anything that may trip her or disrupt her. Needless to say, there was no such thing but she was trying to be on the more cautious side following Paramekia's "social experiment" in which he had 'accidentally' left her in a ditch for a time.

Releasing a small huff of warm air from her nostrils, the fiery female continued along the familiar track, her ears swivelling as each sound reached them and alerted her to new creatures or features nearby - it had been a long while since she had last been here, a good few months at least but perhaps now she'd be able to run into her baby 'brother'.

"TAIIIIII!" She bellowed at the top of her lungs.

The forest surrounding the teepee encampment Celei had named "Elderwillow" was a peaceful sort. Birds drifted lazily overhead or chirped cheerfully at their neighbors in the overhanging branches, wisps of smoke curled from the pinnacles of one out of the four teepees occupying the clearing, and one lone soquili stallion dozed contently beneath the welcoming shade of the center willow tree.

Peaceful, indeed... until a familiar bellow rocked the fiery stallion out of his noontime nap.

Nearby, the white bear Gully appeared from the forest gloom, his violet eyes cheerful as always. "Goodness... I wonder who that could be?~" he chimed, flashing a mischevious wink at the groggy stallion.

Wiggling her eyebrows, Yei was bemused to find that she received no response from the young stallion and could only assume that he was either asleep or off with his new girlfriend - she selected the first as the more viable option due to how early it was in the morning (well it was near the afternoon) and thus, she continued on her way...maybe if he was asleep she could tackle him.

She might squish him.

...But it was a risk worth taking.

"Ohhh Tai..." She whispered softly as she continued to creep through the long grasses towards the familiar teepee, her ears swivelling and then perking as she heard Gully's voice. Aiyee! Maybe the bear knew where Tai was hiding.

"Gullllllly!" She squealed excitedly as she quickened her pace and barelled towards the voice.

SLOTH DESIGN CONTEST
Your name: Celeanor
Name of pet: Sanctuary "Sloth"
Personality: Dismissive
Description: A tall mare, Sloth appears much older then she really is. Her mane and tail are long and unkempt, the hair along her jaw, chin, and feet feathers have also grown wild and long, with the last often tripping her up and added to the dust coating her once crystal blue coat. Her mane and tail were once a luxurious black, but is now a faded dark muddy gray.

Her wings and horn, unlike the rest of her, seem to resist dust and the negligence of their bearer. The spiral horn is a crisp obsidian spear, resembling the darkest of nights, whereas her wings are a beautiful silver with black tips. Those that have seen her often believe the wings and horn serve only to remind the viewer of how far she has fallen.

Drapping her sorry form is a series of muddy gray-brown rags a kindly native woman gave her. They had once been white, and had been used to cover the myriad of bloody gashes along her body. But as with the rest of her, Sloth did not bother to remove them, let along clean them. They are as much a part of her as her coat and bedraggled hair.

Quote:

Basic Character Bio: The mare known commonly as Sloth doesn't care much about why she became as she is, only that she is. She feels she deserves so much more, and believes that she should still receive it. She is curt and dismissive, but surprisingly not bitter about her lot. She honestly feels that eventually the universe will realize it's error and will shower her with whatever she desires, and she is patient to wait for that day.

Born a celestial Alicorn, the mare used to have a respectable name and a respectable appearence. She was Sanctuary, in both name and destiny, bound to her fate of leadership and self sacrifice. But Sanctuary would have none of that. She was a spoiled filly who refused to attend lessons or help her parents mind the herd. She wanted the gifts, the baubles, the attention, but refused to exert the effort.

Eventually she was forced into the leadership, and for a while she seemed to grow into her postion. She was elegant, refined, and every inch the mare her parents could have wanted. She exuded confidence and made many courageous decisions.

Yet there was a problem. Sanctuary was a gifted soquili, and for all of her good deeds, there was little to no thought behind them, and she was doomed to fall victim to circumstances no one saw coming, let alone herself. Monsters in the guise of embassaries of the neighboring Wind herd saught negotiation, secretly promising young Sanctuary treasures and a release from duty if she only stepped aside in favor of their leadership. They appealed to her weaknesses bribed her with everything she wanted, and she accepted.

In the following years, she turned a blind eye and deaf ear to the cries of her people. She ignored the deaths of her parents, the abuse of her peace-loving herdmates, and relished in the adoration and treasures the fraudulant Embassaries gave her, and felt justified in her actions purely because she was happy in the response. Her people still loved her, because that was their way, no matter what she did, and she lazily accepted it without a second thought.

However, all things eventually come full circle, and in a surprising turn of events, the spirits themselves sent a feline spirit beast to score the leader of the the herd who had abandoned her sacred duty, and annihilate the false wind soquili who had tortured the herd so. But the young mare was not afraid of the spirit beast, nor was she bothered by the bloody wounds that lined her body, or the pain coursing through her veins. It was a mistake, that was all. As was her abrupt excommunication and sightless eyes. All of it was a mistake.

So she didn't bother to apologize, nor did she clean her wounds or tend her flowing hair. She didn't care what her appearance made others think, nor did she care what it would eventually do to her. She was patient to wait for the apology she was certain would come, she would wait forever until someone else would bathe her, braid her mane, decorate her body with beautiful gems.

She would just wait.

Talencia
FOREWORD

This is a retelling of how Ceylona and Flame met. It takes place in the distant past, long before many of the present acquaintances happened. Both are young and wild and seeking life as it has been promised to them. These occurances will have a reasonable impact on what happens in the future, but does not change any current rps or those in the past that happen after this timeline. It simply will be a series of experiences not discussed previously with those known currently.

Talencia
Ceylona was on her own, and she liked that just fine. Her red hooves had taken her over many rolling leagues, skirting herd territories and fleeing the occasonally over amorous pursuit of stallions, both lone and head of herds. She was only just barely past the age of filly, young and free. She had no desire to be lured into a docile life as a herd mare just yet. She wanted to live her own life for a time first.

Then came the delightful day when she slowed to a walk, dappled shadows welcoming coolness on her warm hide. She approached a rise in the land with a single great oak atop it. She picked her way carefully up the grassy slope that was scattered with large boulders. At the crest she rested beneath the spreading branches and gazed out over paradise.

Beside her bubbled a spring, pooling into a small pond just a length from the base of the tree. It filled up to the edge of the rocks that edged it along one side before flowing merrily over the rough edges to patter down a rocky drop where the hill had been cut away some long ago time by a greater force than this young mare's mind could fathom. The water pattered in pleasant tinkles down until it reached the earth below. There it made it's meandering way towards a very large, very green meadow, losing itself in the grass and rich earth somewere in the waving expanse. The forest rose behind her, the treetops soaring far higher than her current perch. Yes, this was a good place.

She tossed her head, her long mane swirling down her neck, then flared her nostrils, scenting the air intently. All it took was one horse, or one predator, making this their home, and it would be ruined for her. But the scents that she inhaled were that of green, growing things and small, furred creatures. There was a very large eagle, circling overhead, but he posed no threat to her. So her paradise was unsullied and welcomed her with a sudden gust of breeze, rippling her cascading mane and tail, lifting them and cooling her beneath their insulating weight. Although she would never trade her lovely hair for a shorter look, at times of warmth, like this sunny late spring day, the mass of hair did tend to darken her hide with sweat.

With a nicker she took the few steps to the shallow pool and carefully stepped in. It got no deeper than just above her fetlocks, but it felt blissfully cool as it flowed by. She bent her head and drank deeply of her pool, for she was already beginning to think of this place as hers. Only hers, for as long as she could defend it. Now that she had claimed it, she didn't intend on letting anyone take it from her. She was no pushover. Raising her dripping muzzle, she looked out over her domain again. Her stocky body heaved her out of the pool again and powerful muscles rippled as she galloped down the side of the hill, aiming for the sunny meadow and her evening graze. It was hers, and life was as it should be for a strong young mare like herself. Ceylona was content.

Celeanor
Say unto me, as I say unto you...

Follow down the path you would deem as true.

Never fear the binding shadows;

Never mind the twisting light.

For all we have to offer,

We have given it all to you.

Lilting melodies, cast in an array of blinding lights of day/night and the eternal playboard of destiny... They lay spread out below him, effervescent in their timeless dance between life, death, and all the worlds between. How he wanted to join those dancers, the lights, the shadows, but instead he was the Void.

Cursed to watch in the tender agony of loneliness, he surrounded them, almost touched them... but still they spun away. Somehow he could join them, he knew he could... if he could only reach a little farther...

Jolted out of his nightmare, Flame jumped to his feet before his mind fully grasped that he was no longer dreaming, and weaved around unsteadily for a moment before he finally clawed his way back from the throes of sleep. Nearby, a small fox yipped uneasily at him and darted into the underbrush; her red pelt vanishing curiously amid the green foliage almost instantly.

Fixated on the first physical image he saw, the young stallion of fire took one unsteady step towards the gently wavering brush, sniffing lightly for a scent of the young female. But then his normal thoughts hit him all at once and he straightened with a pained expression crossing his equine features.

Spirits have mercy, this will be a headache I will remember for many seasons to come. He thought with another grimace, choosing to ignore yet another fox when the small creature darted past him towards the stream.

After a few moments, the pain in his temples subsided enough so the stallion could get his bearings, and with a long sigh he turned to the north, following the meandering stream as it parted rolling hills and the thinning woodlands.

Talencia
Ceylona grazed along the bank of the stream on the inside of a loop it made in her meadow. Her meadow... it sounded so nice. It allowed her to put aside the thoughts of where she had come from, what had come before. She shuddered her hide to turn aside the memories, as if they were flies pestering her. Closing her mind on that darkness, she let herself be lost in the moment of quiet, the gentle fall of her hooves upon the fertile ground, and the steady rhythm of ripping as she pulled up her breakfast.

The hawk, riding risnig thermals high above, gave a screech and dove out of the updraft, heading across the wide meadow to the far distant forest edge. The cinnamon mare stopped and raised her head, ears perked. She had become friends with the hawk, or at least partners. They both had a territory to defend, and the bird of prey had already warned her of several wanderers encroaching upon her chosen home. Mare or no, the sturdily built soquili defended her home fiercely, and had a few marks to prove it. Over time they would fade entirely, but for now they stood out against her red hide.

She swished her tail as she listened alertly, nostrils flared into the wind. A sudden tug on her tail didn't even startle her. She'd gotten used to the odd little creature with a bushy tail. It was red like her, and seemed to enjoy her company. It chittered at her as it scampered across her back and up her neck. It had ceased to irritate her that the little vermin treated her like just another tree. Now it parted her forelock and flattened itself on the top of her head, between her ears. She gave a tolerant snort and continued to watch the horizon. Something was up. Even the crazy rodent sensed it. Had someone come to challenge her again?

The wind was blowing the wrong way.

Acutely aware that he was entering unfamiliar, and likely occupied territory, Flame gathered his scattered wits about him and forced the remnants of the nightmare headache to the back of his mind. The stream was flowing downhill, and was crystal clear... small boulders also began to dot the landscape, bespeaking a changing terrain beneath.

Eyeing the stream again, he was taken with sudden thirst and pressed closer, clear into the view of a lone tree topped hill. But that fact evaded him for the moment as he tasted the stream's rich mineral flavored water, and he remained in place for a more then casual sip. Oddly the water cooled his raging mind, and allowed him to think clearly...

Looking up he searched the horizon, suddenly bewildered that he couldn't remember which way he had come from...

Talencia
The wind shifted slightly and brought to her the distinct scent of stud. She pinned her ears and snorted fiercely, tossing her head. This sent her bushy-tailed passenger scurrying back down her neck frantically. Ignoring the chattering squirrel, she focused on the intruder. So another had come. Would he try to woo her or merely assume he could take her territory?

She squared her shoulders and set off at a brisk trot. Her ears were canted aggressively forward, and her head was held high. Her long, thick legs struck out rhythmically. Everything about her spoke of her strength and her determination. She would not be seduced nor run off her chosen home. Not now and not ever. If she ever left, it would be of her own choice, when it was time to move on. She gave a defiant neigh and moved within sight of the interloper.

He was an impressive red-orange, tall and strong, his mane rippling toward her in the breeze. His good-looks were counteracted by the look of total bafflement on his face, though. She fought down a sudden urge to laugh at the odd contrast, and instead gave another ringing neigh, announcing herself and that she was queen of this patch of land. She moved forward further, closer to him, but stopped well out of his reach. There she stopped, head held high, her long sweeping mane blowing across her eyes and back along her shoulders. She wasn't challenging him to a fight just yet, but that possibility lingered beneath the surface, like a snake waiting for reason to strike. Satisfied she had made a good first impression, she waited for his response.

Talencia
T'Cora was where was most logical for her to be. Delphia had come to accept that her adopted daughter simply was most likely to be found near the water. But not just any water. It had to be the ocean.

She spent her days dancing in the waves, splashing with Myster and laughing. She explored the shore extensively, fearing not the pull of current and tide. She had been born a strong swimmer.

Thus it was that today T'Cora was scrambling among rocks, her cloven hooves slipping but finding tiny niches in the rock to be used for traction. It certainly was slippery, but that never stopped this little filly. She stood spraddle-legged over a cup in the rock. Her horn pointed towards the crashing waves that thundered and hissed against the tumble of boulders she stood on. Down below her muzzle, she could see into the clear water that filled this jagged little indentation. It teemed with life. Bits of seaweed drifted faintly. Several sea anemone waved their tendrils gently. One very large orange starfish clung to one side of the tiny world.

With a squeal of delight, she spotted a miniscule crab, scuttling sideway across the sandy bottom. But the movement of her horn as she bobbed her head happily startled the little creature, and it dove behind some sewee and was lost from her view.

With a pleased sigh she looked up from the puddle ecosystem to look out at the tossing ocean. She never failed to revel in that constant motion, and the energy that charged the air around it. Carefully she made her way off the tidepool rock and leapt nimbly back down onto the sandy part of the beach. It was time for a drink and a bit of a graze. She bounded up the trail to the top of the cliffs that towered over the beach. Up here, a tiny trickle of a stream found it's way over the cliff, and fed quite a bit of vegetation. Things grew lushly so near the ocean anyway. She never was without something to eat or drink.

Celeanor

I sensed a great sadness in the teepee today.

It was full and liquid, like a waterskin left in a dark room to mold, but I found myself unable to leave. She needed me, he needed me... and I couldn't understand why Celei looked at me so sadly, sprawled as she was across the rich bearskin pelt.

I wanted to comfort her, but Flame stopped me with a sigh.

"Her breathing is labored, and she needs her rest Tai. " he started to say in a low whicker, but a ghastly white hand silenced him. Startled, the stallion of fire looked to his long time companion, soundless in the face of her apparent understanding.

"Sea water, rich in the glow of the full moon... bring this to me Tai. My golden child..." her voice broke at the end, as did my resolve to stay no matter what. Looking to Flame, Otaikimmio'tokaan nodded curtly and rose to his full height, sparing only a single worried glance to his adopted mother before he disappeared.

That had been mid-morning, and now, four hours and a countless span of miles, I found myself staring down at the ocean, her words ringing in my ears.

"Sea water, rich in the glow of the full moon... bring this to me Tai. My golden child..."

"Full moon eh..." I mused, blinking up at the bright early afternoon sun. I had some time to spare, though standing idly by might kill me.

Talencia
It was Mystre who noticed the very large stallion standing a distance away. The pup puzzled over the way he just stood there, head bowed towards the rolling surf as if bowed down under a weight. He padded slowly towards the brown and golden soquili, casting a glance over his shoulder and the grazing filly. She twitched an ear at him without looking up. He knew her belly had been grumbling very loudly just a bit ago, so he wasn't surprised that she chose to continue eating while he approached the newcomer.

For he didn't think of this stallion as a stranger. He had met so many new soquili that he did not know now that he didn't realize what a stranger was. His overly large paws trod lightly as his growing legs carried him forward at an easy pace. It was strange, being able to move so much faster now. He wasn't aware that he had lost some of that puppy cutness in exchange for those longer legs, but as long as his friend didn't care, he didn't either. He had grown leaner as well as taller, and now looked more wolfish. He still was a pup, but he was nearing adolescence swfitly.

He paused atop a rock to mull over how it amused his heart's friend that he was younger than her, but growing up so much more quickly than she was. He had merely shrugged when she had spoken to him of it with laughter in her eyes. Still, his tail wagged at the memory. He loved it when she was happiest. it didn't displease him at all that most often he was the source of that happiness as well.

Tongue lolling, he broke into a lope that carried him around a curve of the clifftop and then directly toward the stallion. Still being young, his shoulders were well below the stallion's knee. He tipped his ears forward in a frienly fashion and slowed his pace until he sat beside the horse, tail waving slowly in the soft grasses behind him. He tipped his head up and smiled at the much larger creature. His whole demeanor was one of good-natured greeting.

Celeanor

Traveling swiftly on silent hooves, a giant brute of a colt surged through the undergrowth not far from the sea. Though he was new-come to this area, the colt had learned the pathways towards the various water sources, and where he would most likely come upon a herd. And it was a herd that he sought, based on the assumption that his quarry had completely moved on from his previous life and had started anew in these parts. Forgetting all that had come before...

Snarling savagely, Blais half reared midstride, his brilliantly colored coat flashing menacingly through the trees, but it was his eyes that were the most unsettling...

They were a rich amber, and glowed with the fierce intensity of a killer on the prowl.

They were his fathers eyes, though he had yet to see his father.

But if he did see him, these eyes would be the last the stallion of fire would see. The painted colt his herd had named Blais would make sure of that.

Yesssss, vengence is as vengence does, and I am but the arrow of justice sped from the bow of my family. My true family. And before he dies, that miserable creature will see the error of his ways.

samus x
Entreri's dark brown eyes spotted the painted colt from above, as he was exploring the territory from above. he could see this one was a fierce one, which only made him want to confront him all the more. Swooping down like a bullet, as he dived down, he quickly pulled up and landed not far from the stallion. Keeping an eye on him, he flattened his wings to his side and stood there waiting to see what the stallion would do.

Talencia
Mystre was ranging ahead of T'Cora, who was taking a lovely canter up higher than the beach area she normally frequented. They weren't so far that the white wolf couldn't scent the salt in the air, but the roar of the surf was distant even to ears as attuned as his. Thus it was that his ears pricked forward as he heard the hooves of a running soquili. Friend or foe? he wondered silently. He glanced back at the beautiful mare coming up behind him. She knew no foes, but that meant he had to keep watch all the more. There are others nearby, he thought at her.

Others? She slowed, blowing softly through her nostrils from her invigorating canter. Perhaps it was someone she knew? But then Mystre would have told her so, if that were the case. She bobbed her head as she slowed to a walk, her curling foamy mane falling across her eyes in a manner that was quite fetching, unbeknownst to her. Curious, she came to where Mystre had stopped, tail held still, and kept lightly stepping in the direction he was looking. She stepped high naturally, like a deer in a meadow. Her cloven hooves made little sound as she approached the other two, unaware that a conflict was possibly brewing.

Celeanor

Sliding to a collected half rear, Blais snorted savagely at the other that now stood in his path.

"Have you ill intentions? Or did you just lack the foresight to see that I was traveling this path?" He asked sardonically, feeling less then charitable towards any soquili of the male persuasion. Nearby, he could hear the very distant roar of the tides, but chose to ignore that interesting avenue. He doubted his erstwhile sire would be caught sunbathing.

(( opp, Tal just said on IM that she's gotta jet, shall we continue as is, or do this later when she can join us? ))

samus x
(( we can contiune and let her join back in ))

Entreri apeared calm and relaxed even as the stallion half reared right there. " why ever said i had ill intentions? and maybe i do or maybe i wanted to cut you off for no reason at all." he smirked darkly, and watched the others movements. Entreri was not stupied and always tryed to be one step ahead of the other. ofcourse he heard the footsteps close by but ignored them for now.

Celeanor

"Whichever it may be, kindly remove yourself; I do not have time for such idiocy." He replied evenly, his exterior betraying nothing but the brief flicker of irritation in his amber eyes.

This encounter had already taken more time from his search then he liked, and since the soquili in front of him wasn't a fiery chestnut, nor a figment of his imagination, he was hard pressed to care about what he was saying.

samus x

Entreri hardly was going to remove himself from where he stood, as to him this stallion was the idoit to think he could say that. "oh i dont think i will kindly remove myself for any reason, unless you care to force it?" he may apear relaxed and calm, but he was ready to fight if needed and his eyes gintented darkly not giving anythign away.

Celeanor

"Why would I bother? And as I specifically stated but a moment ago, I do not have time for this." He said, enunciating the last as he were speaking to a youngling before flicking his tail in annoyance again.

Yet as he spoke, he could almost hear the sun sliding down the horizon, ticking away precious time. So with a less audible snort he turned off the trail and into the thicker underbrush, he needn't bother with the trail if foolish stallions with egos to big for their heads tended to drop down sporatically.

samus x
"oh really, then you whould have tryed walking away sooner boy. you should learn to watch who you beother to talk down to." Entreri watched the painted stallion walk off into the thicker underbrush. hardly caring to go after the stupid young stallion, he walked off in a different direction, but kepet an ear of incase he came back.

Celeanor

Unfortunately, Blais was the proud sort, and still young enough to believe in universal fairness and the fact that he must always win. Likewise, he was not one to leave after a comment like that. His bitterness towards males was deeply ingrained, and in the nature of the neglected, he reacted violently.

"Bother to talk down too? My -lord- Had I been bothering to talk down to you, believe me you would have known. I merely asked in as polite a manner I could muster after you so rudely landed on the trail in front of me, for you to remove yourself, which, of course, you did not. But all of that is standard to a inconsiderate, and very likely emotionally depraved, stallion like yourself eh? So tell, me what did you expect a whinny of greeting, or perhaps an offering of sweet berries?" His voice was dripping with venom and barely controlled rage. Misplaced rage, but rage none the less.

He hated other stallions with an intensity he refused to correct, yet inwardly feared.

samus x
Entreri stopped in his tracks but never turned around but if the other had seen his face, he would have seen a wicked dark smirk. " now your just actualy plain stupid yet again. you should really learn to control it. as for me landing where i did, its really the only suitable place really to land as this area is full of trees. and dont call me lord, that would mean im full of myself." in his mind he knew he was riling the stallion up and he took the bait jsut as he wanted. his black horn glinted in the light as he waited what the other would do now.

Celeanor

The urge to kill was boiling to the forefront as the other replied, but a small portion of the colt that had once loved his kind kept that monster in check. Drawing a deep and measured breath, he decided that though the winged stallion was undeniably a miserable excuse for a soquili, he had two valid points. Granted one was due only to a lack of skill on the winged one's part, (Blais foolishly thought that landing through trees was not much harder then pushing through them on the ground) but the other was perfectly true. He had better curb his tongue. Time was ticking away again, so he stayed the urge to attack this stranger now, opting instead to save the effort for Flame.

"I'm glad you noticed my word choice, but now I have one question for you. You have wings and are obviously able to travel great distances. In those travels, have you seen a tall stallion with a fiery pelt and hair the color of the sun at high noon?" He voice had lost it's edge, and had settled to the deep tone he normally affected.

He was detached now, and predatory.

samus x
Entreri turned around and eyed the stallion. " no i have not seen such a stallion atlest not yet, but i figure eventualy i will run into such a stallion." it was quite ovious to Enterei that is seemed this stallion was look for this other one for his own reasons. it was true he had never seen the stallion this one discribed but if he had, he would not aim to help him in what goal it was unless there was a reason for him to.

Celeanor

Hiding a heavy sigh, Blais turned around again, ready to continue through the underbrush. "That's unfortunate. But kill him if you do, he deserves nothing more."

The last was said as simply as if he were inquiring about the weather, and inwardly, he was that distanced from the real emotions tied to his father's memory. Blais wanted Flame dead, as perverse as it may seem, the young stallion did blame his father for the neglect of the herd he left behind.

All for a dream... DAMN HIM

samus x
Entreri gave a raised brow. " we shall see, i tend to only do things if i choose to." he figured the other stallion he was looking for was his father or atlest of some relation to him and as to why he would what him killed Entreri didn't know or care. leting the other go, he mused over what happened a moment before starting off himself.

This is Crousader's introduction into the world of soquili.

IN PROGRESS

Hesitation, personified in quivering nostrils and glittering eyes. Somewhere, and at some time, a caring heart beat within the plated chest, staying the final blow to the hooved intruder.

Looking up at his attacker, a merrily colored colt could no longer hide the fear in his eyes. Beneath the tempered faceplate, he was sure there was a demon in the guise of the stallion of light. A Kalona perhaps? Or even a skinwalker. Shuddering he closed his green eyes and prayed to the Great Spirits that his enemy would finish him quickly. Unknowing, he found himself mumbling the prayers.

The sharp blue eyes beneath the helm intensified and he bent his regal head low to peer at the intruder as he prayed. What nonsense...

"Boy, no one can help you but yourself." The white stallion rumbled, stepping back. The praying paused, and the green eyes opened once more, fearfully, before the colt prostrated himself for mercy.

Crousader snorted derisvely at the sight, and spread his wings. "I do not kill fools on their first offense, keep that in mind boy, and do not return." His speech was cryptic, and ragged sounding, as if he did not speak often. The colt, however, did not need to be told twice that he was free. But he did wait for the white stallion to take to the air before he scrambled up and turned tail for the sanctuary of his herd.

The winged stallion did follow him by air until the colt was out of his territory, and with a ringing bugle to the winds, he turned back to the mountains he called home.

Landing stiffly, Crousader folded his wings against his body to ward off the chill and entered the dense pine thicket he called home. Outwardly, he was calm, composed, and every inch the proud territory stallion.

Inwardly... he was in pain.

The wracking coughs had started a one moon cycle prior, and were soon followed by muscle cramping and a mammouth headache. Hesitantly, he had approached a small herd of deer, seeking advice, but they had scattered before he could utter a word. That had sent him into another coughing fit, which in turn attracted unwanted company.

The intruder was another winged stallion, fully developed and obviously out to take what was Crousader's. The dark bay stallion had heard of Crousader's weakened state, and thought to take him down. Even handicapped by his mystery illness, the white stallion had passed judgement on the interloper, and sent his soul reeling back to the sky. However, he had not come out unscathed, and he was acutely aware that the cut on his foreleg was worsening. After that, he was lucky enough to only come across colts(like the youngling of earlier), or young stallions who feared his reputation more then his actual appearance.

With a heavy sigh, he returned his thoughts to his present situation. Obviously he needed help, but who could he trust? Other soquili? Never, the mare's he would never trust, and the stallions would just try and steal his homeland. Deer? They had already proved too flighty, as were most of the forest inhabitants he came across.

Two-leggers? Crousader almost gagged at the idea. Those were the foul creatures who had put his armor on, and while he had adapted to it, he would have preferred to be free of it.

As if in retaliation, his foreleg began to burn and he wavered unsteadily on his feet. Blessed spirits.. are you telling me..?

They had. For at that exact moment a painted wanderer shuffled into the white stallion's territory, and with a cry of rage, Crousader took to the sky.

He had turned to the north out of desperation.

Flame's tracks had grown stale long ago, and Blais was beginning to wonder if he was destined to search this world forever, finding the stallion of fire only when he was old and decrepit.

Grinding his teeth, Blais trekked onwards, climbing the trail towards the triple peaks he had seen from the dense pinelands below. Distantly he heard a ringing neigh, but otherwise thought nothing of it. He had come across many soquili in his travels. Some where kind, other's fierce, and he had defeated in one way or anothe rall that had stood before him. Granted, once he had simply walked away. Time had been precious then, and in retrospect, he wished he had pushed the fight.

"Would have given me something to do..." he grumbled, stepping into a wide clearing.
