jedi_master_tenku Man, those figures you get for reserving them in Japan look sweet... By my understanding of Japanese, if you reserve gold, you get the Ho Oh, silver you get Lugia, and if you reserve both you also get the Arceus. *goes back to site to see what else is translatable* Yep. I covered that in the Daily Catch story. xD

Ooo! Japanese TV show Oha Suta has revealed some more info about HG/SS. Mainly in the form of in-game clips, but it's shown the new battle status bars (they're not that ugly gray like in Platinum, yay!) and a nice portion of the Cynthia/Arceus and Notch-Eared Pichu events.
I'll finish compiling the information, then see where I should post the story/mini-story.

Okay, finally the Oha Suta stuff has hit the presses. And it's just a minimum amount of stuff, so I'll put it here rather than in the Catch.
HERE is the Oha Suta video.
As you can see, it reveals the new HP bar things in battle (no more of that ugly Platinum black! Hooray!), as well as (if you listen closely) the HG/SS battle music. It's also interesting to note that Notch-Eared Pichu and Pikachu-Colored Pichu have different sprites, despite being the same species. This could be chalked up to simply gender differences, but maybe it's something more? (Randomized poses in addition to randomized cosmetic features, anyone?)
The clips of the two events are interesting, too. For the Pichu one, if you go to Illex Forest with PCP following you, NEP will appear and join your party and blah blah blah. And for the Arceus one, if you talk to that dude in the Ruins if Alph with Arcy following you, you'll get teleported to a new area called "Shinto Ruins", where Cynthia is oddly waiting. Blah blah blah, you get to chose between a L.1 Palkia, Dialga, Giratina; Why the hell is this in a game about Johto?
It's also interesting to note that the 'Shinto' in "Shinto Ruins" is spelt with the kana from "Shinnou" and "Johto", rather than with the kanji for the Shinto religion.
Okay, I think GameFreak is still smoking that ganja. But at least HG/SS is looking good.
Also, lol. I have Tanabata/Edge of the Night Sky Jirachi. :B

Sorry to bring up stuff from a couple pages ago, but I've been a bit out of the loop:
As far as the people talking about the DSi...
I would like to point out that while it didn't exactly take off as well as Nintendo probably hoped, there are a few games leaking out that are offering DSi exclusive parts, and the odds are good that this trend will continue. The economy isn't exactly strong right now, so that hasn't helped DSi sales either, but many folks have been trading in their older systems towards new ones. I watched a lot of kids bring in their GBAs and DS lites to make the DSi affordable. And kids are a large part of the Pokemon target audience. I've been honestly wondering if there isn't some way Nintendo could make use of, say, the SD card slot for some kind of expansion, similar to how there were e-readers for the GBA and printers for the color, etc. Or, since the DSi has both internal memory and access to up to 2 GB more of removable memory, maybe there is something to work with there? Not to mention that with things like the wi-fi trading with people all over the world, I don't necessarily see the need to transfer your own pokemon from previous games. Hell, I think kids nowadays are spoiled. I remember back in the day when you couldn't 'catch them all' in Red or Blue if you didn't have a friend with the opposite game and all the right equipment. Pssh...
And on the subject of the pre-order figures in Japan, did they get the Platinum pre-order Giratina over there then? Or the little stylus thingies that came with Diamond and Pearl? I never heard.
Also... I love Sapphire...

But regardless, the DSi's sales are still dismal, and you can't blame it wholly on the bad economy. The DSi, at best, got a lukewarm reception because... Well, it's pretty much the PMD 3 of Nintendo's handhelds; An exact carbon copy of the PMD 2 of handhelds, but with a few needless tweaks. As a result, DSi users are still a grave minority compared to Brick and Lite owners, so I think it would be highly unwise for GF/Nintendo to try and put DSi-only features into HG/SS, or to take out GBA-related features because the DSi would be unable to make use of it (if anyone leaves themself without a way to access GBA features, they have no right to b***h about it nor expect GF to cater to them. It's their own damn fault they can't use Pal Park).
And while there's no need to transfer from third gen games ever since the GTS was introduced, a good chunk of the fandom still prefers it, especially since there are certain movesets you can only get in the third gen. Not to mention, the GTS is nearly impossible to get a decent trade from because it's full of idiots wanting L.100 legendaries for their Starlies and Bidoofs. So GTS + DSi's lack of a GBA port = still not a logical reason to cut out the Pal Park.
As for DSi-only features... Well, that'd still be a d**k move to include them. From what I can tell, a huuuuge majority of the fandom still has Bricks/Lites, so there would be much rage to be had over things only DSis had access to. In my opinion, if they wanted to include special features like that, they should make them so all three versions of the DS could access them with the proper external equipment. Give everyone the chance to use them without having to drop $170 on something they don't need.
And yeah, North America got the the Giratina POB, too.

RSE Fans: 3 4 Ah, I suppose I came across differently than I meant to in referring to some of the DSi stuff. I seriously doubt they'd make DSi exclusive content in a Pokemon game, I was just pointing out that game companies in general are starting to take that audience into account. And while I agree that it is a bit of a shame to willingly get rid of ways to play old games, a lot of people don't think ahead, or simply can't afford to pass up a $70 discount. Not to mention that there will always be new fans, who might not ever have had a Nintendo handheld until a DSi. While sales aren't great, I would be willing to bet that come Christmas, that will be on many lists. This is just a small demographic, but where I work a lot of people that come in looking for a Nintendo handheld buy used, but those that've bought new since the DSi came out would probably make up, I'd say... maybe 40%? Also, don't know if maybe it was misunderstood; I know America got the Giratina. mrgreen I got to take home all the extras from work. I was wondering if Japan had them, or if they were exclusive marketing for us. Same with the stylus (styli?) that came with DP.

I was wondering if Japan had them, or if they were exclusive marketing for us. Same with the stylus (styli?) that came with DP. Oh, I'm well aware that developers are starting to produce DSi-only content, and I have no problem with that, because they're all for games I don't ever plan on playing. I was focused on DSi content in Pokémon games, which I do have a big issue with, because there's no way I will ever own a DSi (I have a digital camera, I have an iPod, I have a perfectly good Brick... Why should I even consider a DSi?), so I'd be very mad if I were alienated like that.
But still, not thinking ahead and a discount that's too good to pass up aren't any excuses for demanding to be catered to. It's still their own damn fault they can no longer access GBA features, so I think it'd be unfair to the fandom as a whole if DSi-only users got any sort of say on what kind of features should be included in Pokémon games. The newbies whose first handhelds are DSis I can cut some slack for, but I still don't think they should have any say, either, because if the DSi is their first handheld, then chances are they're new to Pokémon as well, and I don't want GameFreak listening to a rookie who only knows of Pikachu and that blue penguin, the turtle thing, and that fire monkey. xd
And is that 40% simply buying new in general or are they specifically buying DSis? It might be my sleep deprivation, but I didn't see you clarify that. sweatdrop
Oh! Oh of course! North America would never get something so cool on its own. Naturally, Japan got the figure first (it completed the Dialga and Palkia set that was released with Diamond and Pearl), and surprisingly, NoA carried it over. I guess they saw how many non-Japan fans were angry and heartbroken over getting those dumbass stylii (or nothing at all) instead and they decided to give us what Japan got. I can only hope they do the same with the HG/SS POBs, because Ho-Oh and Lugia are two of my personal favorites. heart

Hey dudes, nothing new today with Pokémon Sunday; Just recaps of stuff we already knew. But there was still some cool beans clips, including a few seconds each of the mysterious cut-scenes with Ho-Oh and Lugia.
Check it out~.
These cut-scenes puzzle me, though. Are they from the games' intros? Or do they play when you go to catch Ho-Oh and Lugia? The former seems more likely, but only by the virtue of the latter having never been done before.
What do you guys think?

That would be cool. ^_^ Alrighty. xD Though I don't think that could be contributed a lot to "Everyone likes the DSi". I bet a lot of those people just buy it because it's the newest thing, not realizing that it's exactly like the Lite, but with two cameras and an SD card slot. Though I'm sure a lot of the other people do know, and do genuinely want a DSi.
I hope so! The Giratina one for Platinum seemed to go over really well, so with any luck, we'll get them, too.

It's also interesting to note that the 'Shinto' in "Shinto Ruins" is spelt with the kana from "Shinnou" and "Johto", rather than with the kanji for the Shinto religion.
Well, there's a LOT of Johto crossovers in DPP. And the battle tower is North of region map instead of South, like the previous two gens. It was South-west for Johto, right, and SouthEast for Hoeen. This time, it's northeast, and Sinnoh has some landmass that it connects to. I do believe that all these regions are connected by Battle Tower/Zone and for some reason, only Sinnoh and Johto have awesome enough relationships to ship out Milk, Lemonade, and similar mainland stuff. =3 And I think it'd be quite far for [I suddenly forget who gives you it] to give you the Cianwood SecretPotion in time, or that she would just so conveniently have a spare in her bag. I bet you Orre's like China, all big and up there and not visited. And the handheld regions are Japan, where everyone wants to go. Also, I've been wondering about the scooter--- how will this work in caves and uphills and stuff? Because normally, that'd be kinda impossible, even for the best.

Actually, the Johto references in DPPt were merely hints at the advent of HG/SS; They didn't mean that Johto and Sinnoh were close together or anything. General consensus among the fandom is that the Shinto Ruins are actually on the peak of Mt. Silver and nowhere near Sinnoh, and that the Shin+To kana thing was to signify that a little bit of Sinnoh (in the form of Arceus and the dragon trio) was in Johto.
And it's been confirmed that Orre was actually based off Arizona. xd
And... What scooter? The only alternative mode of transportation rumor out there says that we'll get a skateboard either replacing or in addition to the Bike. But how would a scooter not be able to work in caves and uphills? It's motorized. Plus, the Bikes now can go anywhere except water, indoors, and extremely tall grass.

True, but still! It'd be kinda funny if they were connected and Hoeen was all off by its self, with Orre even more popular than it!
LOL. Arizona. *rolls around on the floor* That makes my day to hear, for some reason.
I couldn't remember scooter or skateboard. I saw scooter in someone's status awhile back and must've gotten confused. But still! You can't go up or downhill or on grass with a skateboard! Or in a cave! That's dangerous! And I was thinking of a non-motored scooter, and even with a motored one, that still would be kind of dangerous, depending on whether or not it's a standing or sitting one. Not that a bike is superior in any way, it's just... makes more... sense... iunno. ;>.> I'mma continue mourning my Crystal's inability to save, excuse me.

jedi_master_tenku [Philosophy In A Teacup] And it's been confirmed that Orre was actually based off Arizona. xd Ugh, really? I'd love to know what parts... It's a freakish combination of all the places furthest from civilization. Not that much out here is terribly 'civilized'... stare Just more air conditioned... Add some hurricanes and alligators and you've got Florida. xd
@Melody: Lol, the scooter mention was in my status, because I recently bought a mod scooter IRL. But trying to get a mode of transportation that makes sense in Pokémon is a waste of time. The whole Pokémon world doesn't make much sense. Hell, in Pokémon*SPECIAL, they have hover cars!
