Damian smiled a reassuring smile. He figured dancing together was going to be odd, but he also figured that it would probably be rather interesting.
He started to dance to the light music, hoping that he didn't screw up and step on Anna's toes. Not that he would. When his father made him take dance classes as a kid, he would always step on his partner's feet. He had improved since then, but on rare occassions did manage anyhow.
As they were dancing, a mistletoe pixie flew over to them and hovered over their heads, grinning mischievously. Damian looked up at it, unsure what to do next.

Anna saw Damian's reassuring smile, and, not only did she feel reassured, some how, some way, but she could've sworn there was something in her stomach. Like.. like.. butterflies, yeah, that was it. And it, was like, hatching out of its cocoon... And she felt it. Yeah. That was pretty much how her stomach felt. And yet.. it wasn't an all together unpleasant feeling. Go figure.
She began to get lost in the rythym of the music, counting the beats mentally, if only because she didn't know what the hell to do next. And then came the pixie. She frowned, swatting at it with her left hand, the one that had been placed around his back. However, it threw some sort of dust, or something, some sort of sparkly ribbon on her. Though since it was 'pixie-sized' it was quite small and harmless, and ended up in her hair.
Next she discovered the pixie wasn't going to go away. And finally came the realization of just what it was holding. A mistletoe. And it wouldn't go away. Which meant... She and Damian would have to kiss. Not that it was forced, or anything... She took a deep breath, her heart constricting in her chest unwillingly, and, slowly, before she was entirely conscious of what she was doing... She was leaning forward.
(Nice touch! <33)

Damian looked down from the pixie at Anna to see that she had contemplated the exact same thing as he had: they had to kiss. After all, it was mistletoe.
In the moment that Anna leaned in, Damian suddenly felt extremely nervous, similar to the way he had when he had asked Anna to Hogsmeade on a date. Here was the girl that he had a crush on for some time and she was going to kiss him, but he was completely nervous and maybe just a bit guilt-ridden. To him, it wasn't a proper kiss. They weren't doing it of their own free will, but rather because of the mistletoe.
With Anna leaning forward, he leaned forward as well and craned his neck slightly to the side so that their noses wouldn't collide. Their lips touched, just a simple peck. Frankly, he didn't feel full-on snogging was the way to go, plus not that many people would have been thrilled at such a spectacle.
(Thank you. ^_^)

Anna blinked once more, dazed in the after math. Could she count that as her first kiss? Did it count? I mean, the bloody mistletoe was hanging over their heads, more like a sword than a plant sprig with surely lethal berries if you asked her, but it was just.. Just a peck. Yes. A peck. That was the right word. But the specific classification of the kiss didn't help her much. Suddenly, she was wondering for the first time that night why she hadn't worn a dress. Then, to her utter horror, she found she had buried her face in Damian's jacket. Hiding.
It was then that she seemed to come to her senses. 'I hate dresses because they're bloody annoying! And, yes, it counts. It happened. It's over and done with. And... something. Something I won't say because I'm a bloody duck. Chicken! Gah. I meant chicken. Damn. See what you do to me?' She asked him mentally, defeated against his chest. She exhaled softly and lifted her head, grinning at him sheepishly.
"Sorry about that. Sometimes being a girl sucks. A lot. I'll try not to let it affect me in the future."

Damian was caught a little off-guard when Anna buried her face in his shoulder. He hadn't really expected it, so he didn't know what to do. When she lifted her head and grinned at him sheepishly, Damian grinned back, just as sheepishly. The peck had been...nice, for lack of better words. It was interesting because the whole "Did it count?" question hung over it.
Damian simply chuckled at Anna's following comment. "And I'll try not to let my crazy boy hormones get the best of me." he said with a grin.

Anna grinned genuinely, replacing her hand at the top of his back. She had always been sort of tall. Not freakishly tall, but not average. She liked her height. But, right in this moment, she liked it that Damian was slightly taller than her. For once. A few inches, two or three, four at the most, suddenly seemed very nice.
She waved her hand dismissively, joking. "Ah, it's alright. They're entertaining, if nothing else." And so, desperately trying not to think about the peck, because she was Anna, she swayed to the music. (Night. XD)

Damian smiled back and replaced his hand on her waist. During the whole peck ordeal, it had mysteriously wondered away. But now was the time to dance, now that that mistletoe pixie had flown off, probably to annoy another dancing couple.
"They may be entertaining now, but they've gotten me in more than my share of trouble back in the day." he said. He started dancing once again, picking up where they had left off. (Good night)

Anna's smile died down in intensity, though she wasn't any less happy. It was just the energy to maintain such a grin had passed. She nodded, laughing just a little.
"Well, I don't think they're so horrible. They let you know you're attracted to girls, at least." She laughed a little again at her own joke, and gracefully swayed to the music. A couple next to her caught her attention. And, really, how could they not. One of them had the most vibrant orange hair imaginable, and his handsome gray tux was just form-fitting enough to allow all the girls, and a few of the guys, to see just how sculpted his muscles were. The girl he was dancing with, nearly as tall as him, had long, nearly white hair cascading past the small of her back. And the silver dress she wore not only complimented her partner's ensemble, elongated herself, as if she needed it, but made her blue eyes shine like the purest icicle. And, next to her partners vibrant green eyes, which would undoubtedly put leprechauns to shame, Anna was sure they were the toast of the school.
But what caught her attention was not how beautiful they both looked, not really. After all, as a strong believer in Wabi-sabi, basically the Japanese idea that imperfection was beautiful, she thought they over did it a tad. It was the way the boy twirled the girl so lovingly, careful to never dip her too low, the way he held her just a little too close to him than was necessary, and, most of all, the way he looked at her. Like there wasn't anyone else in the world and he could spend the rest of forever just gazing at her. Eating, breathing, and loo trips be dammed.
She tore her eyes from the suddenly intensely private scene, and looked back at Damian.
"I can't wait for Quidditch." She smiled, though inwardly, as soon as the words were out, she smacked herself.
'Did I seriously just..?! Merlin's Bloody Left Toenail!'

Vlaityn hoped her bemused smile would hide the redness in her face. "Thanks, Sezer. I'd have to say you look fairly dashing yourself." She grinned languidly, hoping it didn't come out as nerve filled and squeaky as it had sounded to her.
As Vlaityn watched the snow for a little longer, she let her mind wander over the whole situation. The dance, weather, Joel's situation, school, everything. She stopped a minute to contemplate the fact that this was the last winter dance Joel and Sezer would have here. A sad thought. Actually, it was extremely sad. At least to Vlaityn, who loved her friends insanely. As an involuntary muscle in her face tried to pull her delicate mouth into a frown, she decided it was best the let the silence grow rather than voice such a thought.

Sezer chuckled a little, or at least his gray storm cloud eyes did for him, since Sezer just didn't laugh, not really, and not in front of people, but inwardly a frown was painting his features. 'Fairly?' He contemplated this; over analyzing - again. If truth be told, Sezer had picked out his outfit with Vlaityn in mind. Well, that wasn't entirely correct. Or, rather, it wasn't told as it needs to be. When he was choosing from his fairly healthy assortment of wear, he wondered what Vlaityn would like. Even as vehemently as he would deny it. Though, having caught himself wondering so intensely, even, perhaps, becoming a tad less cheerful at the notion (not that Sezer was someone with whom the word 'cheerful' would normally be associated with), he scolded himself.
'She's not even your girlfriend, you barmy loon.'
... Yet.
Yes, the almighty Sezer had ambitions worthy of a Slytherin. Or at least he liked to think so. He had, originally, planned to ask Vlaityn to the dance. But he just got so caught up in his school work and tutoring Transfiguration students for the O.W.L.S. that he totally spaced. Sezer. And that was a scary thought. Because he was Sezer.
He pulled himself out of his detail-oriented thoughts and smiled a little. "You're quite welcome." His eyes fell to his collar, and he fixed it, his ever-impeccable, ever-pristine, ever-perfect collar. When he was finished with his reasonless task he readjusted his eyes to her. "Don't tell me you're here by yourself?" He inquired, seeming genuinely curious and surprised. (Oooh~! I can't wait! I have plans for Sezer. <3333/>BD)

Vlaityn looked up at him in mild surprise when Sezer expressed surprise at the fact she was alone. Quite alone. "Hmm? Oh, well, of course not. Not with somebody, that it. I just..." Vlaityn stopped to try and collect the words she was attempting to form.
'I didn't want to go with any guy that was anything less than you.' And to her, nobody topped Sezer.
Or more appropriately; 'But then you'd think I'd rather be with them!'
But of course, no words were forming and Vlaityn found herself in a predicament that might lead her to look foolish in front of Sezer, God forbid! She turned a slight shade red at the thought. Well, both at the thought and the charming way he fixed his glasses.
"I like not being obligated to talk and dance with anyone I didn't have my heart set on talking and dancing with." Vlaityn answered slowly. She hadn't realized how wordy it sounded. And how terribly bad it hinted to Sezer. She almost winced inwardly at her awkward choice of words and skipped ahead.
"And what of you? I see no girl attached to your arm." She attempted to smile jokingly. The thought of another girl on Sezer's arm hurt.

Damian smiled back at Anna. "Yeah...can't wait for Quidditch." he said, trying to sound enthusiastic. He had noticed Anna staring at the nearby dancing couple and he wondered what had caught her attention. Was it the guy or the girl? Maybe it was them as a couple...
The staring had caught him offguard and now he felt a little awkward. He wondered if there was something wrong with him if Anna could stare so long at another couple. With his attention distracted, he almost stumbled, but quickly pulled back before he did so.

Sezer chuckled dryly, again with his dark eyes, wondering faintly if he'd hit a sore spot with his truly innocent inquiry. He shrugged off the thought, however, as she seemed to be fine. (Though Sezer's definition of fine was not bursting into tears.) Though he moved on as soon as she did. He nodded thoughtfully, thinking her word choice not to be at all clumsy. She had a point. Why settle for anything less than your heart's desire?
'Your heart's desire is to dance with her.' The annoying little voice reminded him.
'Why would she want to dance with me?' He challenged. 'She coud have any guy she wanted. She's brilliant, lovely, caring, thoughtful...'
'And you're totally falling in love with her.'
'Quiet, damn you!'
With a herculean effort, he focused on his friend and tore himself from his internal chat with his inner voice. His voice took on a thoughtful tone as he spoke.
"I suppose I'm the same as you. Why settle for anything less than your heart's desire?" He contemplated that for a moment longer before adding, "Anyway, Joel's had a few girlfriend's over our education, and they were all all over him," he subtly raised his tan-blond eyebrows for emphasis, "And it kind of turned me off the whole 'damsel in distress' concept." He replied matter of factly, intent upon their discussion.

Anna frowned at Damian, her brow knotting in concern. "Hey," she amended, her voice shaking in a sort of half-baked sing song tone, "What's up, Damian?" She smiled in what she hoped was an alluring, well, not precisely alluring, more so comforting, but a mix of the two was good, too, and poked him in the back. "Over here." She smiled weakly.
Realizing that the mood was dying, she knew she had to do something. Well, she could... No, that wouldn't work... She could, maybe.. No...
I tell ya, she didn't have much time to think before she was knocked to the ground, and by someone's bum, no less. One second she was in Damian arms, trying to figure out what to do, and the next she was on the ground, ankle in pain. She blinked, noting the couple, still dancing just as vigorously as if she hadn't been in their 'way', and discovered the cause of her fall. She frowned at them, narrowing her eyes slightly. She then made to get up, only she found she couldn't for an intense pain in her right ankle. And, Merlin's Trousers!, were those tears in her eyes?!
'Dammit, dammit, dammit!'
Unable to do much but lie in the middle of the dance floor, and, despite her best efforts not to, leak moisture from her eyes, she stared at her shoes, unable to meet Damian's gaze.

"Why settle for anything less than your heart's desire?"
Vlaityn could have screamed herself into a puddle of confused tears and frustration at his words.
'Dammit, HE'S the desire.'
Mentally shaking the thought of how damningly perfect Sezer was, Vlaityn joined him in her memory as they recalled all of Joel's numerous conquests. Or girlfriends, if you will.
"I believe it was all hormonal. Not that a relationship with a great deal of, uh, lust is always doomed or bad." Vlaityn's mind could only let silence lapse as she realized how utterly weird that sounded. Since when did genuine conversation with Sezer become embarrassing?
"You're right. The whole clingy thing was over done. Not enough talking, palling around, quality time together, joking...." Vlaityn's voice trailed off as she let the thought hang. Relationships. Where they as complicated as she was thinking they were? She cast a curious look at Sezer.
'You can't have him. He's too good for you.' She reminded herself.
Then again, Vlaityn's relationship record wasn't active. One or two innocent flings. One in her younger days, one during a vacation in St. Petersburg. Neither seemed to have contact or communication.
It was after this point of thought she realized she's been taking in the color of Sezer's eyes again. Vlaityn quickly looked away and tried to keep her calm and composure while mentally forcing any color out of her face.
