Hopefully, I'll have time to post a new topic. It's just so...difficult to pull one out of my hat sometimes, proverbially.

Sure, let's do one about anger, hmm? Great suggestion.
-----

Reflective Topic #?

Anger is a natural human emotion, yet it is frowned upon by today's society. We've all been angry at events, and at people.

Can you think of a time where anger has truly been detrimental?

Can it be constructive?

Is there a "healthy" type of anger?

Is it wrong to dwell in anger?

gonk I completely forgot to post for the last one like I said I would. I just realized that. Darn my forgetfulness. So after school tomorrow I'll post in response to the current topic and the last one. I promise. I'm leaving a note on my computer screen right now so that I won't forget.

Sorry for the double post, but it's been like 3 or so days, just wanted to make sure you saw it.

I know it's taken me for freaking ever to reply. I only have myself and my procrastonation to blame. I don't know what's been up with me lately, I just haven't felt like doing anything and so I've been procrastonating majorly. So I decided to stop putting this off and do it while I have nothing to distract me.

I'm not sure if you still want me to discuss the unrequited romance and unreturned affection thing, so just let me know if you do.
......
Anger...

Can you think of a time where anger has truly been detrimental? I'm not completely understanding this question. I guess it's the 'detrimental' that's throwing me off. In my dictionairy it defines it as "an injury or loss, or that which causes it."

Can it be constructive? Oh yeah, definetly. But only if it's released in a healthy way (anything that's not violent or has the potential to harm someone).

Is there a "healthy" type of anger? Well, it's a natural human emotion. We wouldn't be balanced if we didn't have anger. So, yes, it can be healthy, unless of course it gets out of hand.

Is it wrong to dwell in anger? I think so, yes. Because then it just builds up to something stronger and that's when people start to get hurt. And we don't want that.

Anger is a powerful emotion. It's seen as a destructive force, thus people tend to shun it away. It is very powerful emotion. When you're overly anger, or any emotion, it's recommended that you not perform a ritual yes? Well that's because emotions are strong and powerful elements. Why is it shunned though? It's used all the time in music and art, well music is a form of art...but meh. Anger is just. It's something that we can all use every now and then. Healthy? What can or can't determine healthy? There is a such a thing as unhealthy love, so why not healthy anger? I think it's plausible. Sometimes getting anger is the only thing you can do. If you keep it inside the force could start to hurt you internally. And no I don't mean you're liver will explode, but your mind will suffer. Which is also the next topic apparently...so I think that's it, but I feel that my point isn't coming across in the way I think it is...

My take on it is that anger--just anger--can be a powerful force in the correction of wrongs and the forwarding of goodnesses, so long as it is it does not overpower reasonable bounds, and that it is countered by compassion, to keep it in check. Anger can be too often like fire--even natural, honest fire--that burns everything down in its path.

And Peaches, I like how well you phrased that, not to say that Maggie wasn't excellent in her reckoning, too. I think it's time we ditch the training wheels (trial questions) and begin to seriously meditate, letting you find your own branches of thought. Obviously, the two of you have already started down that path.

I only wish that I could be more consistent with the timing of my Meditations....

Egads! I must be the worst participant here....sorry Leavaros it's not that I don't participate- I save each discussion every time I lurk, but these days it's all I have time to do sweatdrop

Anger
It is perhaps one of the most powerful of emotions and one of the most dreaded..except perhaps fear rofl Anger as I see it is neither good nor bad; it just is, an overwhelming emotion that springs from everywhere and nowhere and the moment we feel it, we do something about it- simply because we dread losing control to it. I don't believe anger on it's own is detrimental- everybody gets angry at the weather man but how many people take a sledgehammer to his head for getting the weather wrong? What i believe is that it becomes beneficial when an element is in place and dangerous when something else is not. For instance, two people walking down the stairs slide on a wet patch and well fall. One person is furious because of the idiot who spilled the water and seeks him/her out for a fitting pounding, while the other is livid because though everyone saw the spill, no one thought to put a sign or warning and goes ahead to do just that. they are both angry about the spilled water but the actions they take determine whether that anger is good or bad. besides what makes anger good or bad?
So I believe anger is like a double edged sword which can cut both ways...depending on who is wielding it.

Anger to me is healthy and natural, just like lightening flashes, so long as you remember to have a rod if you're high and don't stay under any trees if you're low. I mean, a lightening rod channels the lightening from up and down into the solid earth, while it's best to avoid anything that can put you in the way- like trees, if you're on plain ground.

Is it wrong to dwell in anger?
This in my mind prolly ties in with "TO err is Human, to Forgive is divine"
Is it right to dwell in anger if you're betrayed by a trusted one? Is it wrong to dwell in it if it concerns a social issue you feel strongly about and push for, knowing you won't find rest until that issue is addressed, even though that might never happen? Or is it better to just give up simply because though you're angry, there's nothing you can do about it- does that make the after math of that burn out any 'dwellable' than the anger itself?

Um...my half cent there ^^; these things do sound better in my head...
so I'm still alive..just hustling

It's Saturday, so I'll wait for the next topic to start....but the last post of in October...will there be another one or is this thread closed?
PostPosted: Sat Nov 10, 2007 5:41 pm

It should be. but I'm not being very consistent. My apologies again.

Would someone like to suggest a topic this time? I have a feeling that my own topics might be a bit too...far out to be good training topics. *sigh* I suppose that's only sensible. Great practitioner, good researcher, poor student, terrible teacher.

So? Any ideas? VampFay? Peaches? Maggie?

I don't want to sound cheesy, but (at least for americans) Thanksgiving is happening in about 2 weeks. What about a topic about thankfulness? What are you thankful for- that type of thing?
PostPosted: Sat Nov 10, 2007 6:11 pm

Or what about some 'what ifs' ....Like, what if the world stoppd spinning? and that sort of thing? When I was doing the solitaire practice of Wicca, learning by myself, I meditated on that sort of thing and it helped tone my meditative abilities.

I may be a little late, but I would like to join this class. whee

Sure, jump right in, the water's fine!

Okay.... The only problem with the 'what-if's is that these types of meditation (Thoughtful and Reflective) are more about theory and past precedence than doing hypotheticals.

Though really, I don't see why we couldn't add some in. Did you have one in mind?

Oh, and Kareena, I was definitely thinking about doing the Thanksgiving version a week before the holiday.
