Holy turkey breast sammiches! Okay, so normally the paranormal books don't really catch my eye. And I'm sure more than one of you have heard of Stephenie Meyer.
In any case, it all started last week, thursday? Maybe tuesday I believe. In any instance, my sister got me sick, cause she's a b***h, in any case, I went to see her tuesday night cause I was bored and lonely and needing some good old fashioned platonic lovin's. So I arrived, buzzed through my mail and waited for her to get home from school, she brought with her not only her new little brown baby (I can just hear the gears grinding as people jump to conclusions, so to be concise, she was given a plastic baby doll to take care of for parenting class), but also her new copy of Twilight, the 2005 debut vampire novel of the new millennia.
She handed me the book, something that frightened me since it was thicker than me ego at the time. Now, I'm not a stranger to Twilight, vampires, etc. I'd followed some of the internet buzz and like I had with Harry Potter, and like good old Harry, I caved and open the fresh paper back, the cold factory smell so inviting and soon, the large print, within a matter of an hour or so had taken me all the way to chapter 4.
Today I finished it, I'd started it up again last night after I found it in my bag from Anime North. I can clearly say I've never read a book in less than a day until today.
I have to admit, Meyer's style is painfully repetitive and at moments I was feeling more than a few homo-erotic feeling overwhelm me. I understand her droning over appearance, over the hypnosis of the traditional myth that vampires are seductive. However, Bella was painfully easy to relate to, despite Edward being a vampire, its all to easy to relate to someone who is hopelessly infatuated, as we've all been there before.
I won't give anything away in here, I may discuss it later in the main forum, but, loose ends were left open. Not to mention the ending, damn Meyer and her blatantly simple but seductive writing, what a painfully hanging ending. If I had money I'd run off to Chapters and snag book two, but I don't so I need to wait for my sister to finish with number two before I get to read it. Luckily, she's a faster reader than I am, so I shouldn't be waiting long.

Ha! You are the second boy I know to have read those books. The first was Jason, and I was a little weirded out by that. I read all of those in less than a week. I learned he had read it when he commented on me carrying it, because a friend gave it back to me after borrowing it. Yes they are all three sitting on my shelf, but it would probably take longer in the mail than your sister to read it. The next one comes out in August.

21 going on 22 hardly counts as "boy" my dearest Cari. I'm surprised another is coming out, and so soon! What is that, the forth book? I think my sister said she had three, but I can't be sure, I was down with the sickness, for those of you who caught the pundit, congrats.
I have to say I don't mind waiting, the good woman, Meyer, has inspired me with her writing. Though, not so much inspired, as she has given me hope. I'm very self-conscious when it comes to my writing, what if I can't get published, is my writing not sophisticated enough? But after reading her, I learned it doesn't have to be Tolkien, Jordan, Hobbs even. I didn't mention any of my current authors because two are very simplistic and the other three make up words, curses the sci-fi universe! In any case, I have continued on with my own novel, it goes smoothly and roughly and sometimes not at all.
Ah, well, back to writing.
Toodles

Any way, good Lion, inspiration is good, I need to start reading a bit more, maybe I'll actually read some Stephen King or M. Night Shamalyan (SP?) to get some inspiration for my story of which few have commented on sweatdrop . and I agree, back to writing, or maybe perhaps I will go to the library I have to return a CD any way, it's like a few days late and I can't renew it cause it has a hold on it. gonk
Well to INSPIRATION I toast... but for now, I'm off to the library, have nothing else to do, I worked today 9:30am -1 and I don't have to be in until Monday at 4 and it's only 6:30pm here.

I know many girls who only like the Twilight series simply because of the character, Edward. As if women didn't already have an unrealistic expectation of men. rolleyes
I'd give my own little review of the series, but I'm afraid I'd end up giving away stuff that happens in the second and third book. So I'll simply go with that I enjoyed the books, and have pre-ordered the next one. I'm only hoping that Meyer's doesn't end the series the way I'm expecting her to. The most disappointing thing to me is when an author ends a series the way that most people expect them to... takes the fun and thrill away.

Boy as in a member of the male species. Plus I never say man, it's too formal if I'm unsure if it could offend I say guy. Plus 22 is not that old. When man usually comes into play, I say old guy/ dude. Be happy with boy.
I think age should no longer be used for judging anything once someone is over 13. I've met 30 year olds that act like 13 year olds, and vice versa. Plus it just annoys me when everyone is like I thought you were older when they learn I'm 16. They give me this funny look like 'really are you sure?' My x-boyfriend thought I was 17 for a while.
My friends parents and some of my teachers thought I was graduating with my friends. It is really annoying to have to explain to everyone that I have one more year.

That's true dark, however, I have to somewhat disagree. An author is being safe by ending it predictably, if they take a chance and end on a note that doesn't sit well with readers, granted, she still makes money, or he, but I think its almost more of a let down on the readers behalf.
I don't want to drone on too much, but I'll offer up Harry Potter as the sacrificial lamb. I wholly expected Potter to die and take old Voldy along with him. I won't get too into how the ending actually goes, since I didn't post a spoiler warning and it just pisses me off how the ending was written.
Granted, ending it differently isn't a bad thing, I just maintain that a reader needs some sense of closure, not a swirling conundrum that basically makes them rethink the logic in the entire series.
Ah well, something to think about I guess.

Well, okay, Harry and Edward aside, how is everyone? I feel like we haven't talked in months, although I guess the past week or so alone have felt like months. Who knew that graduation could be such a damn hassle? *sigh* If I didn't have my family to think about, I would have thrown in the towel a long time ago. Just goes to show how much people can do to keep up the old strength reserves.
Voldy? What the f***? -Andrew

Man, I wish I looked older. I'm almost 19 and everywhere I go it's, "Oh, what are you, 14? 15? Let me talk to your mom. Are you really in college?" etc, etc...
Blah. I know I'll appreciate it when I'm older, but it's just annoying now.

Yea I know the feeling. Once at a hair salon I was not dressed for anything just getting my hair cut and my little brother went too and the lady asked who was older. I'm 16 and my brother is 13 and this was like a year ago, before he hit puberty.
Actually a year ago I looked so much different it's weird. Like even from the beginning of the summer to the end. I lost 40lbs got my hair permanently straightened and started to wear makeup. Now that I think about it I don't blame her.
Ugh I am so tired today. I was up late studying for a college US hist final. Too bad I was so tired, I couldn't think that I can't think when I am tired. So studying backfires. I never study, but he gave us the question so I had to look up the info and memorize the answer in advance. Why not just make it open book?

I've been told that I look older the shorter my hair is, but younger the less my eyes are seen. So basically, to look my youngest, I would need hair long enough to cover my eyes, but short enough to appear youthful. Oh, and beardless. Which lasts like, I don't know, twelve hours tops, and then I have serious stubble all over again.
Pics later, -Andrew

My age depends mainly on what I wear, and what time my face says it is (a pun in reference of the 5-o-clock shadow). I remember back in the winter of '06 I was mistaken for a professor in one of my classes, it took only seconds for nearly a hundred people to start pestering me about whether or not our midterms were going to be open book. And that's the last time I ever carried my shoulder bag by the handle, however, I did continue to wear my grampa's old navy blue airforce coat, its so warm in the winter! It really makes me wonder how young prof's get into teaching at university so quickly, god damn child geniuses.
In a way, I don't feel its right to move students further ahead just because they know the material. Granted, most who are know ALL the material... But then again, that's my outrage at a capitilist society, go communism! It works in theory you know.
So, I'm pretty excited, my best friends birthday was yesterday, his party is Saturday night, which should be fun. We're all nerdy gaming freaks who love to drink so that should be interesting.
I'm also excited about Wizards of the Coast new release of D&D 4.0. I have my reservations but overall it doesn't look like they've butchered the rules too badly. I am mad that healer clerics are now useless, thank you X amount of healing surges... Feats are also different, they DO things as opposed to LETTING you do things later on in the game. Spellcasters have been tweaked strangely, I don't know exactly how using spells is going to turn out with any luck that won't get jimmy-screwed too badly.
Anyway, I think I'll post my latest edition of New Fantasy, since bunbun was reading my old one and I believe my newest version to be exemplary.
Off I go!
