"Hmm, not exactly. More along the lines of observing the girl that just ran off. As you can see, it's not going all that well." He stared at the machine for several moments, waiting for the elf to hopefully return. Suddenly his voice lost all formality. "So, what has Ialo got you doing here? Just what is this task he has assigned to you?"

"She ran," the woman observed, and coolly met Riser's gaze. "Ialo Enlil did not summon me here. He does not know of my task. He will find out very soon though. It's... a most unusual task though. I am authorized to use corporeal force against him."

"s**t..." he muttered to himself. "Thank you, I hadn't noticed that part. So who ordered you here? And why would they authorize force against that kid?"

Lin heard the voice in her head, and even just the voice caused her head to hurt immensely. But shortly after that, she felt a panicking sensation near her, from the area she had just been in.
She tried to concentrate through all the dark energy and saw in her mind the squirrel that had come near her to try and comfort her earlier when she had been so upset. Now it was upset because of the darkness that invaded the area around him. He had been following Lin as she ran through the forest away from her professor earlier. Obviously he wasn't as fast as Lin, so he had followed her trail. And now he was in that area because of her, he was scared now because of her. She couldn't just leave him there, not after he had been so friendly to her earlier!
Lin ground her teeth together, gasped in pain as she turned toward the area the dark magic was coming from, and ran back to the area. Not at all for Riser. She did not want to learn anything about such a black individual. She was going back to help her friend.
As soon as she was in the area where the robot was, Lin looked quickly for the squirrel. She soon found it on the ground by a bush, shaking in fear.
Lin gasped and ran over to him. She slid to the ground and immediately picked him up and cuddled him to her. Hopefully the white magic that was still inside of her would help comfort her friend, and the magical water that was in the pendant around her neck would keep the squirrel safe.
Lin looked up at the source of the dark magic, wincing in pain, almost as if the dark aura had blinded her, and hissed up to Riser.
"You will leave here immediately! No one wants you here!"

"His father," she answered. "And he authorized force because he know Ialo will not back down without a fight."
Hmm. That sounded ominous. She had better amend that, before she was mistaken for a security threat.
"Ah, but the elf, she comes back! ... For a squirrel?"

This had caught him off guard. "Nathan authorized force against his own son? I truly don't understand that man's motives. He was my original suspect, but I ruled him out specifically due to the use of force. I'll tell you right now Synthetic, you're not to touch that boy. I don't give a damn what your orders are, if you interfere with my doings in any way I won't hesitate to rip that servomotor right from your-"
"And clearly no one wants you back there or else you wouldn't have ran into the woods in the first place! God, your people are so damned stubborn." The dark presence shrank back to the point that it could be visibly seen flowing from his body and dissipating into the air harmlessly. "I'm not such a bad guy, as you'll hopefully come to see; there are always two sides to any story dear, don't forget that. You must come to a conclusion on your own accord, others cannot be trusted, their words are biased by their own selfish beliefs."

Lin sighed in great relief as Riser caused some of the blackness to dissipate. She could still feel darkness in him, but it wasn't as bad. And even the squirrel seemed to calm down considerably.
Lin stood up with the squirrel still in her arms and glared up at Riser. "You sound just like Dymetri, but unlike him, you use dark magic and are cruel! You choose to behave the way you do! Dymetri was forced to become what he is! You have no excuse! Professor Akakios told me about you!"

... Alright, this was getting hectic. She was being mistaken as a security threat, and because she was programmed to be polite, she wasn't able to snap at anymore, or interrupt them.
"Well then, I'll just.. go over here..." the robot turned, and began to walk away, towards the school.

The frail giant sighed in boredom, his head resting on his left hand. "Ya huh, I'm sure he did. What I'm sure he didn't tell you, is that all things are merely perspective. Who decides what is dark and what is light, who decides what is good and what is evil? Hypocrites, that's who. You view me as dark, and believe me to be evil. Therefore, my motives must be cruel and twisted and I must want nothing more than pain for all life. Were this true, I would not have given of myself to save the lives of some of the most promising people at this school. If, in my mind, I am doing the right thing, what stops me from viewing you as evil? I believe myself to be righteous, and therefore by your logic you are in fact evil as you stand against me dear. Black and white, dark and light, all things of this nature are relative to one's position. And I'll have you know, Akakios is not the saint he leads you to believe. I admit, my life would be far less interesting without him, he is quite literally the white to my black. However, that does not mean that either of us can ever be right or wrong. We are doomed to swirl together, clashing endlessly for our own beliefs, our very existences a physical representation of the universe itself."

Well, he was certainly intelligent, and Lin could appreciate that, but her body did not lie to her. If he wasn't evil, dark, she wouldn't become weak in his presence. It was a biological fact that elves could not be around dark magic for long.
"My body tells me what you are! You cannot argue with biology. I am white magic, and the weakness to that is dark magic, and vice versa. In fact, I bet that if I was older and as strong as my father, you would become severely weak just by coming near me. Bodies do not lie!"

"Oh, you think so do you now? That's rather cute." The energy he had been repressing suddenly burst from its shackles, enveloping the entire area in a thick, black haze. The pressure came at her from all sides, pushing at her muscles and joints and forcing her to her knees. And then, as if it had never been, all traces of it were gone. He was still standing there, energy still dissipating from his body. "I'm sure by now the snake told you what I am, and that is probably the only true thing he's told you. Now, since you didn't get my point, I'll rephrase myself. Simply because you see something as wrong, does not make it so. That same thing you view as wrong may also see you as wrong. Who then stands to gain from a relationship such as this? Absolutely no one. Dark and Light have been at each others throats for centuries, ever since my idiot descendants first learned how to harness them. Until the day comes that both unite under a single banner, neither shall make any progress in this world. Dark is not bad dear, some simply choose to use it as such to further their own pursuits. You must not honestly believe that no Light user has ever been corrupt, has ever used his powers for greed or hate or revenge or title."

Lin suddenly felt the most excruciating pain she had ever felt in her life erupt inside of her. She didn't even feel herself sink to the ground on her knees, or feel her arms drop and the squirrel leave her. All she could feel was pain. She wanted to be strong, she didn't want to show weakness to this... creature, but she couldn't stop herself from letting loose a high-pitched scream of pain. The scream echoed in the forest and seemed to bounce back to her ears. If anyone heard it outside of the forest, they'd probably think it was simply an animal.
And then the pain was lifted like a veil, but the after affects were still present. Her skin was even paler than normal. The sparkle was gone from her eyes, and she was gasping for breath.
Gasping, she looked up at Riser and forced a glare. "You... YOU are wrong. Everything about you is wrong. Darkness is wrong and causes pain and sorrow for everyone. But above all else..."
She shakily managed to stand back up, though she didn't know how long she could stay up. "You... are.... weak. And scared."

"You're impossible, do you know that?" She saw his mouth drop open, almost too far in fact, and heard him inhaling heavily. All that filled the air was a whooshing sound, but as Lin look at herself, she could see strands and puffs of dark energy being forcibly removed from her body; the energy was being engulfed by that strangest of men. When his teeth once more clacked together, all lingering dark energy had been pulled from Lin. His hope was that she would feel better than she had when she entered the forest to begin. "Now don't lie to me, you know I made you feel better. I've just proved one of your theories about me wrong, now how about we try another?"

Lin gasped as she felt any sense of darkness leave her and the pain just disappear from herself. She saw Riser absorbing it all for some completely unknown reason.
Lin fell to the ground in utter relief and stayed there for awhile. Sitting on the ground was quite natural for her. But she still glared up at Riser.
"You expect me to thank you when you only took care of what you caused in the first place? All you are proving to me is that you are as conniving and calculated as Professor Akakios said you were. He never told me what a coward you were, though. You have not once come down from your perch on the tree. You think you are so strong, so fierce, and yet, you cower up there."
Lin rolled her eyes and scoffed. She was getting a little too cocky for her own good. "And no matter what you do, you will not ever convince me to look at you as anything other than pure evil. I will never like you, or appreciate your existence. I may be young, but I am far from stupid."

He was next to her, faster than the girl could blink. "Some coward I must be." He outstretched his arms as if to prove his point. "You're just like Ophiuchus, do you know that? You're as foolish and childish and easily manipulated as him, and yet at the same time you're the opposite of him. He lets his thoughts cloud his emotions, you on the other hand let your emotions destroy your thoughts. Were it not for him, you would be much more willing to speak with me. Instead, you shut your eyes and mash your hands over your ears and scream like some little child, hoping the bad man will go away! He's not. He's walked every inch of this planet. He's been involved in every single important decision in human history. He's existed from long before you were even a possibility, and he will continue to exist long after all memory of you burns to dust and drifts into the cold gray sky. You may know healing, but you have innumerable things to learn about life, the universe, existence, reality, and the persistent cause of hate and darkness. Do you know why those last two exist? I'll tell you just to be sure. They exist because of people like you, foolish children crying and screaming and shouting to get their way."
