*sigh* You read the ideal through the lens of utility. That's why you can't grasp Love's complete nature-you refuse to be absorbed by it. How can you understand joy until you give yourself over to joy, or grief without falling deeply into grief? How can you make these assumptions based solely on functional utility rather than on the greater ideals of beauty and revelation? Utility is so mundane...hardly something to base a philosophy on.
So let me lay my words out plainly. No one is going to debate that Love by its very nature relies on trust--I should add here that all communication (even language) is trusted on a very, very basic level. The reason I didn't add trust is because it is so plain that I didn't think I had to. Condensing Love into a single post--into 700 words--is much more difficult than I had thought.
Still, I don't think that you would debate either that you are predisposed well towards people who are kind and warm and affectionate towards you, or perhaps to those close to you. Likewise, you might often find yourself more gentle or protective of the people you Love. Even to the point that you value them more than yourself.
But I asked you to go farther than mere observation. Anyone with an open mind can realize that Love is grounded in goodness and has a great potential to refine virtue in the individual and in society.
Of course, understanding the process is equally important, if far more difficult. We must understand what it is Love does to us to change us, how it turns our hearts towards something greater than ourselves. The process, both the pains and the pleasures, are crucial to the nature of anything, and certainly to something as complex and nuanced as Love.
(But if something has the potential to raise us to a higher virtue, to perfect us, why would we deny that? No...perfect is not the right word. To make us into who we could be at our best. Why would we put ourselves away from that?)
This isn't the point I was making at all, of course, just a sidestep. What is Love's nature? Instead of ranting or denouncing me, or demonizing me into telling you, you could have merely asked. But why? What is the nature of anything that is centered entirely around goodness and betterment, but having the aspects of goodness and betterment together? Truly, I have no name for, and could go on for many, many posts trying to pinpoint Love's nature. But maybe you could help. What, Justin, would you call something that puts into harmony beauty, goodness, and truth? After all, I have a word for that, although we both no what it is and neither wish to use it, although you did, in its correct context.
It's funny in a strange way, how things come full circle, isn't it...?
And it's funny. Muse is the only one who is truly acting as an ambassador. A servant of harmony. Although, her words are mine, too, Justin, you must know that. I do love you, both of you, probably more than I'll ever let myself babble over. In a way, it would cheapen it to have to say exactly how I feel down to the letter.
After all, I feel that after a certain point someone who irritates you as much as I do can only be a close friend if you love them or an bitter enemy if you hate them, and I don't think I could bring myself to hate you, even if I didn't opt for Love. I guess the quote of the day would be "Loved By Default". Not to say that I don't choose to care about you, too, and frankly, some of the things you say would be easier just to dismiss rather than to refute (as with PETA...).
Now we're really going in circles, huh....
Love and Vale, -Andrew

Let me just say something quick: If you ever try and claim something as common knowledge, some people will miss the point and others will call you on it. In college or university, if you quote something without crediting it, you're expelled, no if's and's or but's about it. If I were to write a paper on the dimensions of insanity as expressed by the works of Dr. Seuss, without ever mentioning him, how would people know I were talking about him unless they understood all the particular nuances of his writing? You did the same thing, that's what I was pointing out. You can't just write something meaningful and important without stating everything, its idiocy to assume people know everything you're talking about, if that were the case, you wouldn't be talking about it would you?
I never meant to debunk you, only to prod you, sharply, in direction of the proper way to present an idea or philosophy. Know thy enemy, is the best means to an end, you want to convince someone, present your idea in a fashion that appeals to them. I don't follow that rule most times for the simple reason that I couldn't care less if people think I'm full of s**t or talking sense.
You can go on till you're blue in the face about love, but it doesn't change the fact you were wrong in your method of producing your argument. If you want to debate, sure, why not. But I won't tolerate any kind of Christian approach to debating. By that I mean trying to prove me wrong, or misguided on the basis that you simply don't agree and that there is a higher power. God serves no purpose in this day and age, only substantial effort and reliable intelligence.

Chocolate skittles sound gross. If I ever see them in a store, I'm gonna buy 'em, eat 'em, then tell everybody how right I was. Even if they're tasty. dramallama

Yes, I have a MySpace *is shot*...
My new blog is about greasy hair... It's so gross. It makes my eyes water... But this is what I wrote (careful... naughty words):Dear Men Blog Dear Men, Wash your ******** hair! It takes two minutes! And you don't just blob on some shampoo, rub it in and wash it out all in five seconds. You need to let the shampoo soak in and clean your hair. Would you just shave one small strip of your facial hair? No! You take your time and make your face smooth. Cause the ladies like it. THIS is why you're single. Your hair is ******** greasy and no one wants to look at it or touch it. Ladies LOVE men with smooth, clean, dandruff free hair. Head and Shoulders even has a shampoo that gets rid of flakes, cleans your hair AND conditions! You just need to leave it in for 1 - 2 minutes. Ladies HATE men with greasy, clumpy, stinky hair. Here's a diagram to help you grasp this. I'm going to carry little travel sized shampoo bottles around now and BEAT YOU IN THE FACE with it if your hair isn't washed properly. Seriously guys, what the ********. You could have a girlfriend if you'd spend an extra 60 seconds in the shower. Greasy hair makes my eyes water. Fo realz. [/endrant] I realize this may be a tad overboard, but it just got to me today for some reason. My brother is gross.

Oh good, so I'm not the only one who thinks that's utterly disgusting. However, I have seen a few girls who don't wash their hair often either...
I don't see how people can stand having greasy hair...

Ya'll want to hear the most embarassing thing EVER? I'll bet you do.
So, I went to the movies with my friend last Sunday, and later asked her about her birthday party. I guess I wasn't really listening, because I heard it was on Thursday and she'd pick me up 'round 9.
Thursday rolls around, 9 comes and goes, no Erica. So I call her.
Me: Hey, um... what's up?
Her: Not much, you?
Me: Not much. So, um, am I gonna be picked up?
Her: Yeah, why?
Me: It's past nine...
Her: ... What?
Me: The, um... the party's this week, right?
Her: Oh. OH! No, sorry... it's on the 24th.
Me: Oh, ok. Yeah. I'm just gonna hang up now and pretend I don't exist, if that's cool with you.
Her: *Something about the party, I was to busy drowning in my own ineptitude and failure to listen*
Me: Yeah, ok, got it.
*click*
Man, And I had gotten all nice and everything... brushed my hair for the first time in weeks, slathered some MiracleCure on my nails, trimmed my toes. (No, really, I trimmed my toes... they, um... they shed. Yeah, I know. It's nasty.) And now this is just tunneling through my brain like some sort of self-loathing cancer... thing.
It's cool. Eventually this'll become just another story to make everyone laugh with, and that's worth a bit of embarassment. Just... give me some time before I have to face the world again.

I admit, girls can have greasy hair. Take for example a 15 year old Crystal. I was totally into the goth thing for a while and wouldn't wash my hair for a week or so. I just didn't care. When I noticed boys, though... heh. I washed my hair every other day. Washing your hair EVERY day is a little extreme and can damage your hair.
Now I use Head and Shoulders Smooth and Silky Shampoo and Conditioner. It works great. biggrin
See?

On the subject of shampoo and conditioner, who else can't use conditioner? If I do use conditioner, my hair is greasy the very next day. So when I stopped using it, my hair stopped getting so greasy. But it still got so greasy all the time. So I kept switching shampoos, and the only one that works for my is Fructis Balanced Care Fortifying Shampoo for dry roots and greasy ends. Instead of it being gross after two days, I don't have to actually wash it for three (I shower every day, but I don't wash my hair every time). Its fantastic. I save a lot of money on shampoo now, because my hair doesn't get as greasy as it used to. And its a lot softer and nicer, too. But not only is that the only shampoo I can use, I still can't use the conditioner that is supposed to go with it, because it just makes things the way they were before I started using it.
Isn't this fantastic? I come back and talk about hair products, of all things. XD
