I hate Japanophiles.

I love Japan and all, I love it a lot, but I'm not all "super happy love hyper anime otaku!" It's rediculous. There are people like that at my school, and A TON of people like that all over the internet. Try the anime/manga forum here and see how long it takes you to find someone annoying.
Anyway, I know someone at school who likes to draw/watch manga/anime. She comes to school every day showing off her notebook of "anihmay!" drawings (that were copied off the internet) talking about how she watched "inyooasha" last night and how she is going to read "maynga" and move to "Keeoto" someday. And then she mentions how "kaway" my drawings in my notebook are. It's awful.

omg... One of those people are on my msn/gaia friends. She refers to everyone was "san, chan, sama, kun" and says kawaii and ends her question sentence with, "ne?"... I said too much... I'm now seeing this WAAAY too much.
Ignore!

The younger kids seem to get away with it, just because it sounds cute. That being said...
The insane squeaky wears-cat-ears-daily people scare me. I mean, the anime kids are ok, but the obsessors are freaky. I love anime and manga, but I don't think that Japan is anime-land. And I discovered anime BECAUSE of Japan, not the other way around... but then again, being part Japanese changes things a bit... XD
I love/hate how people are self-professes otaku and crap. Once I saw a gay wearing a shirt that, loosely translated, said "I'm never going to be accepted in Japan because I am a freaky cartoon watching *****".
Yeah, it said Baka Gaijin *made no sense* Otaku, and he thought it meant he was a stud in Japan.
Just shoot me.

Ew... what did he look like? How is it possible that people don't understand what things mean? Like we don't know everything but baka, otaku, and gaijin are things basic learners know confused

lol Did you say anything to him like tell him what it mean? razz I'd be laughing and tell him that he shouldn't purchase things without knowing what is said on the shirt

Good question... then maybe it would have been harder for him to read. sweatdrop

No- it was all in Katakana. Made for time consuming reading, but he should have understood that if he understood anything. But we were in a trolley in California, so I couldn't say anything- but I know that he noticed me staring and laughing at him. He was all scary and sloppy and hairy, and he sure as hell wasn't Japanese. But he looked kind of dark, I think he was Mexican.

this thread wins, first of all.

people using words like kawaii and baka and neko, and memorizing phrases then claiming they can speak a"little japanese"

knowing how to say cute idiot cat and "where is the bathroom" will not get you very far. stare

this one chick at my school incredibly fat and annoying and tries to act like an anime character, she says she can speak japanese, which i dont believe since she is a manga freak who looks undisciplined and white as snow.

so i said, "nihongo o hanasu koto ga dekimasu ka? Nihongo ga sukoshi hanasemasu. Nihongo-de hanasu kudasai."

(you speak japanese? I speak a little. Please, speak in japanese.)

she looked at me with a confused sweatdrop type of face and said, "um, well. i understood that! but, I can only say good morning and idiot"

then got all smiley and tried to act all giggly and said, "eh?" scream

I just said "Gansaku! Henna gaijin...." *mutter mutter*

(fake! wanna-be japanese..)

and walked away all pissed off at the stupidity of some people.

just some small corrections:

youu can and SHOULD drop "nihongo" after the first sentence. you dont need to keep using "~masu" it osunds like you re trying to unveil her stupidness while being polite.

hanashite-kudasai is the correct form, and i would say hanashinasai would work best here.

but otherwise it understandble enough (a mistake japanese people make is saying "arumasu" instead of "arimasu", but if you make that mistake people will think you didnt learn the language right. but if some japanese person says 'arumasu" you can say "isnt it arimasu" and they will be so embarassed!

I seriously hate it when I wear a bracelet with an anime character on it and these dorks come up to me and be like. "O-M-G (they actually say the letters) THAT'S KII-YO RIGHT? I LOVE HIM! WHO'S YOUR FAVE CHARACTER? I LIKE YUKI BETTER!", and they pronounce Kyo like Kii-yo. burning_eyes
Or when they're like "I like to draw anime. I can draw him pretty good." And they hold up this picture that looks like a five-year-old did it.
And all those 'How-to-draw-manga books that are like...Ever seen that Kappa Mikey show? Total stereotyped anime that is so ugly, it's not even funny.
What a wonderful topic. I love to rant.

I think the show was made to make fun of anime period. My brother likes it...I cannot stand it at all.
