1). Sparing = okay. Feel free to make your own thread if you want to spar with someone.

You cannot join the tournament now sad . I had the join date postponed from August 15th to September 3rd. Sorry. sad

Spectating, and just watching, is okay. It's fine by me. It's also considered training if your character benifits from watching more experienced fighters.

2). The current Avatar cycle is placed on firebenders.

The reason it's open to more than firebenders is three-fold:
-1: Who doesn't want to backhand the avatar a few times over? It'd be fun to test the avatar and see his/her abilities.

-2: Everyone should have fun. Fighting/roleplaying shouldn't be restricted to just one type of bending. I just added a second tidbit to the tournament by saying that the avatar will be chosen by the tourny.

-3: The avatar has to be tested to see if he/she can handle a fight against another element. *nods* It's also a way to see if the avatar can actually roleplay skillfully against another branch of bending.

This is looking pretty bleak; it seems that Rachlarn's computer blew up on her and now she might not be posting for whoever knows how long.

Is it possible to RP around in the Earth Kingdom until she replies?

If teaching stretches your character's limits then have at it. Preferably you, or the teacher, should be a higher level than the student.

I hate to give a bad match to Rachlarn, but I'm eager to move on with the tournament, plus I don't think people enjoy being stalled. What should I do, or what will happen?

I'm not exactly sure, but I believe a shadow bender is exactly what it states: someone who can bend a lightless void to his will to do various things. Whether solidifying the shadows or actually making them do things, along with its main discipline princple, is beyond my comprehension, but I'm pretty sure that's what it is.

EDIT: After looking at the profiles, it might seem that the shadow bending hybrids might use a chaotic form of bending, such as black fire, dark water, tainted earth, and dark wind seeing as though the regular bending disciplines have some sort of balance and law.
