"That is true, I'll give you that, but we have leadership - more than the other side." They had more structure and more...order, for lack of a better term, when compared to the other side. He preferred it. The chaos of the other side was a hindrance and really he was sure they only continued to plague the city because of their numbers. It wasn't because they were able to rally themselves around some central leadership or anything of the sort.

Raising a brow at Lellouch he tilted his head a bit. "I do like how you think...that might be a good way to help get through med school." Giving an approving nod at her ideas, they weren't bad at all.

"And if anything my cousin smothers me, I just keep him safe when he joins in on missions. If I were to even take a slight injury he'd be the first to carry me out and mother hen me at home." Rolling his eyes, though there was a fondness in his voice. He cared for his cousin, he really did, and not just because they were family but that did help a lot. "I try not to smother those around me. I've learned over time." And it seemed Lellouch's brother didn't like their father...ohhh and it seemed their father was dead? His starseed taken it seemed - interesting.

The flex was impressive, thank you very much. And Gismondine flushed at it and gave a laugh that was perhaps a bit too loud for such an occasion. “Yeah. S-stay by my side.”

Not that he could do much to really help if things got bad. Sure he could...He had a knife. But it bent more easily than it stayed firm and honestly, the idea of stabbing anything with his cheap knife and fork was...laughable. Perhaps if it was a well cooked steak that was so tender it could just...fall apart...he could do that.

But...that...he couldn’t…

Whatever was out there wouldn’t be so tender he was sure. “I’m not going to go missing either. I promise. We...we’ll be fine. We’ll be together...after all, that’s why we brought you into this! So we could protect each other.” And...random strangers in the...Rift. He didn’t have much of an idea of what that was but...he would do his best.

...He had to.

If only for Taiyangshou’s sake.

Another agent missing. It seemed an continuous problem for the Negaverse, but Fafnir would have thought it the responsibility of the Spec Ops division, not the Information branch. It made him wonder why Axinite was heading this, and not that crazy Hessonite. He wouldn’t, of course, voice any of these questions, but he thought them. Studied them and filed they away for later use.

The anomaly he mentioned was slightly interesting. The rift was full of strange things and creatures… was there something it held that prevented teleporting and summons? That could be quite useful to know about, and even more so if he could get his hands on it… even if he was sure there were many other agents thinking the same thing.

It left him with something of a problem though… they were expected to go in groups, and he’d been without one for quite a while. If he wanted to go, he was going to have to see if he could find a group to insert himself into.

Fafnir?

The young man perked as he heard his name, turning to see who had spoken. He knew so few people, and the voice hadn’t been familiar… And the face that greeted him wasn’t particularly so either. Something tickled at the back of his mind, but he was quite sure he’d never met this officer before.

“Hmm? Yes, that’s me. I’m not sure if we’ve met before…” He slipped a warm, sly smile on his face as he extended a glove hand. “But it would be my pleasure to rectify that, of course. You are…?”

“Tell you what, if you start getting worried at all, we can either… uh… Undo this like, sash ribbon thing, or, I have more than enough hair we could like, tie some of it around your wrist.” He laughed at the idea.
It was a bit strange to suddenly have so much more -hair- to deal with in uniform, but if he could think of practical things to do with it, he wasn’t going to complain.

“And you’d better not go missing.” He added with a stern look. “I got into this for you, you don’t get to ditch me to find someone new.” He teased. “I’d be jealous” He added with a gentle nudge to Gizmondine’s arm. He’d very likely have engaged in further PDA, had they not been in such a diverse group, mostly strangers that he assumed they would need to make a better impression on than ‘that pair of new people who were snagging at the start of a rescue operation.

Lopezite offered a polite smile but reassured, “I think I’d be very careful if I ever ventured too deeply into the Rift. I don’t like it much down there, and I do my best to stay out of trouble. But thank you. I’d do everything in my power to make sure you never got lost in the first place, but if something were to happen I would make sure we found you and brought you home safe.”

Briefly, he felt a pang of guilt, because there had been times he hadn’t been able to do that before, hadn’t there?

“I don’t think we have to worry about such things from the General King though,” he said, eyes on Axinite for a moment. “...He looks like he’s genuinely upset. It wouldn’t really benefit him to put on such a show, I think. Especially because they could always just call a meeting and pull his starseed if he was betraying the Negaverse or something.” His brows were a bit knit at the idea, but he didn’t seem to think there was anything amiss about Axinite’s request.

“If you don’t feel like powering up, that’s one thing,” he went on to explain. “I could summon you here, regardless. If he can’t be summoned, well. That’s a different thing entirely. For a General King to not have access to him, but to still know he was there...that means he’s still a part of the Chaos, that we’re all still connected. But that something’s wrong, I should think. Asking for help is wise when you don’t know what you’re dealing with.”

LT. Atheneite

"I agree. Incompetency or treason perhaps." She suggested. It was worrying if something could happen to their files then that meant that the Negaverse was vulnerable. "I hope his majesty looks into this more than just finding that lieutenant." Personally she didn't care that much about some lieutenant who managed to get lost, but she supposed they were and an ally and more importantly a general king was requesting support. She wasn't going to ignore that.

"We should stick together down there." She offered. She didn't like relying on other people but she also wasn't dumb, she knew in a situation like this it was better to have someone to watch her back. Besides she at least seemed to have a bit of a repour with this officer.

Corrupt Sailor Calaverite
User Image
He didn't get it. He didn't get it, like, at all. Calaverite squinted dark garnet eyes at the senshi girl standing across from him. What was worth a shot? Why had she even wanted to see anyone shovel so many snacks down their throat? And for something as stupid and useless as money, when anyone here could pretty much just take whatever they wanted from any civilian they wanted it from?

He didn't get it, but Cala had decided a long time ago that people were just weird.

He collected another cookie and nibbled more steadily on it, this time. "I like sugary things," he told the girl. "But I don't really like any of my foods touching. I don't want buns and candies put together." And he was very selective with what he put in his mouth, if the practically nonexistent weight on his bones was any indication. It was a wonder he could even hold himself up with how tightly hsi skin clung to his bones.

But more importantly, Axinite was preparing to take them into the Rift, and Calaverite was about it. He'd only gone the once, when Wolframite had agreed to take him, but for all everyone claimed it to be scary and horrible, Cala loved the Rift.

All the cute monsters!

He wasn't about to miss an opportunity to visit again, so he found himself stuck in a group with a couple agents for protection as everyone prepared to set off.

Captain Rakovanite

He was almost entirely positive that he had not seen Fafnir even begin to smile at their previous meeting. The whole thing had been a terse affair, with the senshi only barely willing to share words with him at all. Rakovanite may have been anticipating a very similar situation this time, given that Fafnir was lingering away from the crowd. Though that did not appear to be the case. He eyed the proffered hand with a canted head and a blank stare.

"We met once," he replied, lifting dark eyes from the senshi's digits and back to his face. "Though not like this. My name is Rakovanite. I was unpowered when we met, and it was a long while ago." He took Fafnir's hand and gave a very slight shake before disengaging. "But you are quite unforgettable."

"I admit I was surprised to see you," Rakovanite added. "I was under the impression you were far from enamored with the Negaverse's activities, so to see you at what I believe is an optional function..." He shrugged. "Do you have any vested interest in rescuing agents who have strayed too far into dangerous territory? Or is it more curiosity for the situation, rather than actual interest in the occurrence?"

A long time ago? That didn't really narrow it down any, and he still struggled to place this stranger who seemed to know him. It seemed likely to be someone he'd met as a lieutenant, before he'd been promoted to Super. The difference between him now and him then were subtle, but he'd learned how to keep things to himself.

His hand remained extended for longer than was usually customary, but eventually the man took his hand, however brief. Fafnir's smile cooled, but didn't fade entirely.

"My former general made sure I respected the ranks above me, and when a General King calls for agents, well... you go, optional or not." He said, though he omitted the part where he'd been curious how he could use the situation to his own advantage more than because he felt other than faint concern for the missing. "I take it you do have a vested interest? Were they someone you knew? It looks like they're breaking up into groups, so I suppose you'll be looking for someone to team up with, if you're going."

As a senshi, Fafnir knew he would be unable to go if he didn't attach himself to an agent who could escort him through the hall. He wasn't entirely sure if he wanted it to be this agent, though. He seemed... cold, and being at a loss as to who he really was left the senshi uneasy.

Captain Rakovanite

Rakovanite's brows pursed very slightly as he regarded the senshi through darkened eyes. "I am not sure I agree," he stated blandly. "Place respect where it has been earned, of course. I would not argue to the contrary. However, in the case of taking on optional assignments, I think it is just as important to consider your skills in regards to the task as even more relevant than who is doing the summoning." He canted his head toward the front of the room, where Axinite stood. Their host had accrued a small army in just the few minutes Rakovanite had been present. He was probably not the only one interested in seeing a sovereign at work.

"General King Axinite could rip any amount of people to his side if he simply wanted numbers to accompany him. My impression is that by leaving it open, only those who are most willing to perform or are able to supply some specific skill for the assignment would feel most obligated to attend. And a senshi in the Rift..."

Not that Rakovanite thought he fell very neatly into either category, himself. He didn't know the missing boy, and was sure he was no more talented than anyone else here-

And he hoped he hadn't implied otherwise.

A very faint blush tinted his cheeks, though it was almost entirely obscured by his dark skin. Fafnir had years' more experience than he did. He knew what he was doing. Rakovanite glanced away, and murmured more softly, "My apologies. I do not mean to imply that any reason you have is not exactly good enough. No. I do not know Feldspar, either. But I think I would like to go just to see Axinite at work. I have never been on an assignment with anyone above a General's rank."

The captain worked himself very neatly into a hole and Fafnir's eyes narrowed as he watched him, crossing an arm over his chest to brace the other and cupping his chin in his long fingers. Fingertips tapped his jaw as he considered the unintentional slight... the implication that he didn't have any skills to offer here, especially as a senshi that would need escort in the rift.

It was the way his face flushed that mollified him, though Fafnir didn't change his stance. Apparently, this one was accustomed to speaking his mind without consequences to what he said. He at least had the grace to realize it, but it was a strange, alien concept to Fafnir.

"That is likely the reason a lot of officers are here." He agreed dryly. "An operation led by a General King is a rarity."

He had to put this captain firmly in the 'uncertain' category in his mental organization. He had very little knowledge of his skills or influence, but his manner was not a point in his favor. He'd have to keep an eye on him to figure out if he was worth cultivating a relationship with, or a waste of time. It was really hard to discern on the little information he had.

"You should go find a group to work with." He said as he flicked his fingers at the rest of the crowd, where people were beginning to separate. "You should be heading out soon."

Suiting words to actions, the super turned and moved into the crowd, his eyes scanning for any other familiar faces he could attach himself to. This wouldn't be an easy trek, but sometimes you had to put in some real world work to get where you wanted to be.
