As Wren walked the empty hallways, he caught sight of something strange. A peculiar humanoid, short in stature but fairly quick. It's proportions seems off, though. Like it's legs and torso were l ge than it's arms and it's head seemed to be larger than it ought to be. "Is that... a person?" He asked Anemone, a sudden spike in his anxiety causing him to fear for their safety all of the sudden. As if the countless unseen Pokemon around them didn't pose enough threat before? The possibility of a human with unknown motives freaked him out.
"Geeeeyem..."
"That's not a human..." Wren decided as the strange voice emanated from the darkness. His every cell told him to avoid it but something pushed him to investigate. Maybe it was a Pokemon nobody had seen before?
"Eeeeeelgeeeeyeeeem..."
Creeping after the spooky figure, Wren would be forced to follow it's silhouette around the building for a bit before he finally cornered It in an office. When he entered the room, however, he found an open window and nothing inside. Walking over to the window and looking outside, he found nothing to see. "Gyem?!"
Looking up at the sound of the voice, Wren jumped and slammed his head into the window pane above him, knocking himself for a loop and she fell backwards clutching at his aching head. There in the window floated an Elgyem, a Pokemon he had only ever heard stories about. It held it's hand out and the lights and it's fingers flashed in an unusual pattern but to him, they were just pretty lights on an otherwise creepy Pokemon.
"BUG BUZZ!" He finally shouted, pushing himself away with his feet as he did. Something about that Pokemon made him feel uneasy and the in reading pain in his head wasn't helping.
Anemone nodes to her trainer and unleashed a powerful buzzing sound that, while it aggravates Wren's aching brain, dealt a lot more damage to Elgyem. The Cerebral Pokemon clutched it's head and whined for a moment before looking confused that it's Synchronoise had been ineffective. Assuming it's stalkers to somehow be immune to it's Psychic power, the Pokemon turned and fled, floated away before they could pursue it further.
"Make sure it doesn't come back after us, Anemone. Use Swift!" The Combee didn't hesitate to attack, just as creeped out by the Elgyem as her trainer was. Elgyem sensed the attack coming and Teleported away, leaving the beams to strike the Earth on the other side of it.

in━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ It was time the Zorua got a taste of reality... The kind of reality all kids feared. The thing was, Veronica simply assumed this critter was young and hadn't seen his fair share of nasty things in the world. In reality, Cosmo had more years under his belt than Veronica, despite the fact the he hadn't evovled, but he didn't give much of a care in the world. And in any case, he was glad they were finally going out on an adventure, ever since he had been captured it was pokeball this and pokeball that; he had grown tired of it. "Where is this place?" It was his first time stepping on Alola grounds but he liked how the dirt felt, it was... different. "See that dome over there?" Veronica asked him. "Yep!" the Zorua responded. "It's abandoned, there's lots of pokemon. You'll get good training out of it, more so than the colosseum back home." she said, ducking under a tree branch. The whole place seemed like it had gone out with a boom and that nature regrew over its past death.

in━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ An Alolan Diglett came up, looking around curiously. Cosmo instantly jumped back to shoot a Shadow Ball without hesitation. "Hehe, see, see. I'm awesome." he said, driving the diglett away. Veronica petted him, "Yea, there will be more to come." they continued into the dome and entered through the space where the door used to be. "Careful with the glass." Cosmo cared to watch where he stepped. There was no running electricity but there were a lot of technology items around: countless panels, shattered tvs and pharmaceutical objects. In its days, it would definitely be the kind of place that Veronica would run from. She breathed deeply, trying to push the anxiety away, and smelled how nature had taken over.

in━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Out of no where a bone was thrown at Cosmo's head. "Ow!!" He complained and placed his paw on the wound. "You little-" he paused. "Runt!" he 'insulted'. He wasn't one hundred percent sure where the attack came from so he used Night Daze in the general direction of where it came from. Veronica simple sighed. "Well at least you'll be getting the work out you need." she crossed her arms as a Cubone slowly came out, it started to complain and had another bone in its hand ready to throw but Cosmo managed to dodge it. "Hehe, runt!" he yelled out and then used Night Daze again, this time it came out weaker but knocked out the Cubone nonetheless. "That attack takes a toll on you. Maybe we should take a short break. You want some water?" Veronica sat on a tree trunk that was bented enough for her to comfortably sit. She took out a cup and filled it with water for Cosmo. Cosmo wasn't sure what to say so he just drank and rested for a few minutes.

in━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ They started to hear a buzzing. A Cutiefly passed by and landed on a nearby tree. Cosmo watched it like a cat and readied himself to pounce on it. Veronica had never seen anything liked it and checked on its pokedex as quietly as she could. "Dark moves won't be very effective." she told Cosmo. He simply jumped scared the Cutiefly however, then used Shadow Ball as the Cutiefly tried to flee but failed. Then Cosmo used his Roar. "Yea, you better run!" he roared again. "Let's keep going then. It looks like we can go in a circle and return back to the front door." She determined from a half pieced map kiosk on the floor. "Oh..." Cosmo looked at the map, wondering how Veronica figured that out. It hurt his head to think about it but he kept staring at the map trying to make sense of it. "Ok, yea." he finally said at last and caught up with Veronica.

in━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ "V, look!" Cosmo said. V? V...? she wondered as she tried to follow the Zorua's line of sight but couldn't figure out what he saw. "It's... something!" he said, looking straight at a pair of big, white eyes. "Hoot." they heard. "It... It might be a Hoothoot?" she said, still unsure about where it was. "Hoot hoot!" they heard and a pack of Hoothoots went out flying from the dark, only one stopping to attack Cosmo. Cosmo used Night Daze in the same moment and it brought the Hoothoot down. "High score!" he proclaimed. "I think you mean critical hit..." Veronica mentioned, mostly to herself as Cosmo paid no mind. He then took a step back and shot a Shadow Ball to finish the bird off. Well this place seems to have weaker pokemon than the main area, so that's a relief... Not like I can really defend anything off myself as I am right now. "We should go there!" Cosmo said, pointing in the darkness. "Uh..." Veronica hesitated. "I guess it works." They turned towards the darker hallway, where Veronica found it wasn't so difficult to adjust. It would take practice to see in the dark like Cosmo could however.

in━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Veronica tripped over something. "Ow, what was that?" she thought it had moved. And it had. It was another Alolan Diglett. "These things are everywhere." she complained and got back up. "I got this! Runts!" he said and started shooting Shadow Balls, taking on a few ground hits himself. "You all right?" Veronica asked. "Yea, I'm fine, it didn't hurt a lot." Cosmo continued to lead the way. "You would think we're half way around this place by now." Veronica spoke up. "How do you know?" Cosmo was really curious about how she just knew things. "After you experience so many thing, you get a second sense for that sort of things." She tried to explain. "I lived in the White Forest all my life, it was nothing like these... buildings you people make." "I see... how do you feel about that?" Veronica asked. "About what?" "Do you want to go back to your home?" She asked. "...No. I'm having fun with you!" he said. "It felt like forever when I got caught. But now I can talk!" he seemed to jump through a lot of points at once.

in━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Eventually, they stepped back into the light again. "We should turn left here." Veronica pointed out. In that direction, a Fomantis appeared. Cosmo used his Shadow Ball from afar, followed by a scratch from the Fomantis. It only made Cosmo's next Shadow Ball stronger as the enemy was closer to him. "Well done." she said. They kept going. "You know..." She began. "If you ever want to go back, we can..." she said. "Really?" Cosmo asked. "I... could release you if you want." she said, feeling guilty about the whole 'capturing pokemon' situation. Cosmo was silent for a really long time. "I want to explore more with you." He decided. "Besides, there's more runts to take care of out here!" he snickered.

in━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Ahead, there was another pokemon Veronica had never seen: Morelull. It didn't look particularly strong. "It's another grass and fairy type. You know what to do." "Right... No dark moves!" He used Shadow Ball instead. Even though he had gone through a few battles, he was still fairly strong and holding his own, and very hyper. "Good, you're getting the hang of it." Veronica and Cosmo kept walking. In this area, the dome was open, the sunlight was shining directly on them. A few Ledybas hummed by, there were noises of other pokemon in the distance and the wind was howling. "I guess the sun is starting to set." "Yea, it'll be dinner time soon!" he snickered. "You know," Veronica spoke up, "Maybe we can pull a few pranks here and there together." she smirked. "Well, I bet you know how to use your Illusion ability better than I do. Can you talk in your illusion now?" she wanted to confirm. "Oh, I think so." he used it to make a clone of Veronica for a moment. "See? Eh? That sounds funny." His voice was a mix of his own and hers. "Well, I guess it has its drawbacks." Veronica laughed at him. "It's really weird seeing... myself though..." she said. "It's not weird to me, I see you all the time." Cosmo said, making Veronica want to facepalm.

in━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Cosmo accidentally bumped into a tree with Veronica's illusion. "It's not always so easy to change height this drastically." he said. Veronica's eyes widen. "There's a Spinarak on your shoulder." She said. Cosmo then turned back and used Night Daze to push it away. "What do you call it when they are really weak?" Cosmo asked, relaxing again. "Bugs? Pests? Worms?" Veronica let it out. "Useless? Disgusting?" she shrugged. "All of that! There's so many of them!" Cosmo snickered. "Well it's not like we can just burn down the forest." she smiled. "Maybe." he said. Although to just anyone that might have sounded... evil; Veronica couldn't help but smirk at Cosmo. "It's like you're my spirit animal." she laughed. "What's that?" he asked. "Like when you can relate to an animal because of their similar traits." she attempted to explain. "Eh, I'm an animal?" It was like he had an epiphany. "Pokemon are animals!" "I guess." it made her think deeper than he was thinking about it.

in━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ A Hoothoot flew by and targetted Cosmo right away. "You again?" he said. I wonder how he knows that. Veronica hoped to one day have such pokemon abilities as a hybrid. Cosmo kept trying to shoot out Shadow Balls but missed several as the Hoothoot flew around. He whined. "V! It won't leave!" He used Night Daze to hit a critical hit. "...Nevermind." Veronica kept following. "Why V?" she asked. "Because..." his head dropped in thought. "Veronica is too long!" he announced. "Right... Aren't you tired?" Surely, his health was at least down by half now. "Not yet!!" he ran forward. Noouu... don't make me run! Veronica sighed.

The Pichu was absorbed into the ball as the ball landed on the board it was on. It moved around a bit until they finally heard a ding. Comfey cheered happily as she picked up the Pokeball and gave it to Ulla. Ulla smiled happily as she took out another Pokeball and released the Charjabug she snagged recently. "I'm sorry we bothered your hiding spot. You can go back now." And with that, the Charjabug scurried off. "Come on Comfey, we have one last chance to catching on something big. We will look around here a little more. Then probably look in a different area."

in━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Cosmo ran straight into a Lunatone. "Watch out, that one might be stronger!" Veronica shouted from far behind. The Lunatone first responded with an attack that had no effect on the Zorua. Maybe it wasn't used to seeing dark types around. Cosmo used his Shadow Balls as he jumped back. The Lunatone tried to use Magic Room but Cosmo was the master of illusions and it didn't slow him down. He used Night Daze twice as he took on a Tackle in between his attacks. "See, I did it." he said, taking heavy breaths. "We can take a short break. We should be out soon anyways, and then it's the track walk back." she said. They sat on the floor, Veronica was thankful Cosmo would agree to rest. To say the least, her stamina Had increased since her change into a hybrid. "How did you become an animal?" Cosmo asked. Veronica crunched up her face in slight confusion and smirked at his question. "If you ask me that, I'd have a very different answer than if you'd ask how I became part pokemon..." Her smirk turned into a smile. "So which is it?" "What's the difference?" he asked. "An animal can almost mean uncivilized or wild... or crazy." she answered.

in━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ "Then..." he wondered. "Both!" Veronica nodded. "I think when I ran away from home, after so many years of disappointment. That's when something broke inside me. If I had to say it, sure, I care about Snagem and I care about my pokemon. But not anymore than I care about myself. And I can't say I care about myself much." She explained. "And after so many years of that, no action becomes out of the question." she hoped he would understand. Just then, another Hoothoot appeared. Cosmo took his time this time, hitting each one of his Shadow Balls. "Nicely done." she commented. "See, some times you gotta be patient." "I see..." his ears twitched. "So, about the other thing. I had something like the shadow virus going or a curse or something I don't really know what it was yet. But... eventually, I found myself in a summoning, and it also brought that thing to life. It killed me, and it fused with me. I don't really know why either." she said, realizing there were so many questions unanswered. "Don't worry though. We'll find the answers together." she was determined.
