Rayna Farrell - as Wednesday AddamsWell the one good turn of fate was that Rayna was able to attend the Bootanical Garden event. Her parents still were upset that somehow their daughter had ended up injured after going missing while on an evening walk. She couldn't explain to them what really happened but just the fact that she was able to leave the hospital only a day or two after being admitted had worked in her favor. Sure there was still an aching tenderness in her arm and it was still in the process of healing but Rayna had hoped that it wouldn't put a damper on the fun to be had this evening. After she had arrived at the Botanical Gardens she had began to wander the reception area just in time to hear the announcement that rain had set in, limiting the areas that were accessible at the moment. Putting her hands on her hips the teen sighed before glancing at the rather large hall. It was almost comical how she appeared, dressed in all black with her hair done in identical braids running down each side of her head. She had chosen to go as Wednesday Addams if only to get in touch with the side of her that loved anything to do with the paranormal. She'd opted to leave the white face paint at home to appear paler than usual. As the rain ended Rayna was hoping that the crowd would be allowed to move out to explore the maze rather soon.

Briar Mackenzie - dressed as a vampire hunter Briar nibbled on some of the candy that had been set out as reddish eyes glanced out towards a window.
It was still raining, had been raining for most his time here with the rain having set in shortly after he and his brother had arrived at the Botanical Gardens.
He hadn't actually wanted to go, but his brother was down due to his upcoming birthday and thought that the 'Bootanical Gardens' would be a great event to check out–
And thought it would be even more fun if the two of them turned up dressed as vampire hunters.
Briar hadn't wanted to, he hadn't even wanted to go, but he didn't really get to see his brother very often now that he no longer lived in Destiny City and so he had reluctantly agreed to go and even more reluctantly agreed to dress up.
At least he had ditched the stupid hat that came with the costume and had managed to 'accidentally' ditch the even more stupid necktie thingy, but he had lost sight of his brother in his last candy run and now he was bored - super bored.Quote: Briar is open for interaction but please quote me so that I don't miss it

Seung KimWhile Terry had suggested a group costume idea, with him being cat woman for some reason, Seung had declined the idea - though it was...odd and interesting, he was planning to ask Terry about that another time. It was instead that he had grabbed his old school uniform, glad that he hadn't grown beyond needing to enlarge the arms a bit, and had put it to use as a costume for the event at the cities botanical gardens.
He'd heard, on the news, about the incident last December and was worried about it, enough to try and talk his younger cousin out of going with them, but he'd been out numbered with Terry and Hyeon-hyung telling him in various ways that Eunkyung should go and that it would be a good thing. Unable to win against them both, especially his own hyung, he'd relented and had helped his younger cousin with a costume as his own required almost no work at all.
So far though things seemed to be doing well. Standing with the small group he was with, only three other people, Seung was happy to stand there holding his husbands hand as he glanced about. "When is maze starting....fog is thick - might cause people to not see the ground well." And could lead to people getting hurt. Being inside it sort of felt...eerie, at least to him, considering what had happened last year in December and last year around Halloween and this year was already shaping up to be...less than safe. He'd already mentioned his distrust of this to his own family earlier - on the way here.

Eunkyung Lee[ The idea was apparently cliche and common for Halloween, as she'd been told, but a fairy was just...cute. She knew it wasn't something spooky or scary and that Halloween was, in large part, about that but she couldn't bring herself to do such a costume. At least hers wasn't out of the bag, as her elder cousin had said, Seung had picked out the fabrics with her and had stitched something up for her from scratch. It was a one of a kind fairy outfit done in soft pastel colors which she had picked, she didn't want anything too bright or dark, and it looked nice on her. The small wings were a nice touch, she had told him nothing too big as she didn't want to hit people with the wings or get them caught ton things. If they were going to be going through a maze, filled with plants, the odds of getting large wings snagged, or tangled, was high.
That whole thing had only happened after convincing Seung-hyung to let her go to this event. He had mentioned an event last year, which had been on the news, and not trusting this at all. She understood it, understood he was looking out for her, but she was a senshi - she was safe. Not to mention she had her family with her...she was as safe as she could ever be - maybe safer.
It was only after enlisting Terry, Hyeon-hyung and Matt to help her that Seung-hyung had given in and allowed her to go and had asked about her costume. She knew her elder was going in his old school uniform, she didn't understand why but the idea seemed to please him and be some sort of inside joke...or something - she was sure she didn't want to know.
One slippered foot moved as she shifted her weight at Terry's side. She stood between Terry and Hyeon-hyung with a drink cup in hand filled with some sort of fruit juice which they were offering at the place. "It should start soon....but the fog might make it hard - like you said. It might be best to take it slow." She spoke softly, her voice just above a whisper yet easy for her little group to hear.Natsuko-neko You can bring in Terry, Hyeon, and maybe even Matt?

Aloysius Sharp dressed as Spine from SPG Aloysius was slightly interested in the Halloween events this year since he did not have anything scheduled in terms of performances or jobs. There were many faces that he did not recognize and he wondered if anyone he knew was here at all. The thick metallic makeup that he wore as well as the amount of bobby pins that held his hair out of sight under his vest and coat kept his own appearance vague at best. The quick temporary hairspray dye had gone surprisingly well given how thick his hair was, it was now perfectly black instead of brown to complete the look he was going for. The candy that was offered really didn't pique his interest as he took his place near the wall and watched the crowd quietly. He almost wished that he had brought his violin to play as entertainment so that he would feel more relaxed around such a large group of strangers. Quote: Is open to speaking but is not the best at socializing.

Xi-Wang ZhàoOk, so he'd decided to take the lazy way out of doing a costume; it should have been expected. His arm had only just been taken out of a cast earlier that day, and it felt really odd, and Xi-Wang wasn't exactly known for his high levels of energy so his costume was...perhaps fitting. He'd managed somehow to find a bedtime bear, from carebears, hoodie and matched it to a pair of pajama bottoms and slippers. He was even totting about a small pillow to go with the idea. It was his lazy way of dressing up - he was a carebear....he was bedtime bear.
That was what he'd told Caleb when the package he'd ordered had arrived, just the day before, and he'd pulled out the 'costume'. He had told Caleb he had an idea for a costume but he'd not told the other what it was - till it arrived. He wasn't sure what had given him the idea but it had been rather sudden and unexpected, especially since it wasn't a tv show he'd grown up watching, it was before his time.
Either way though he was comfortable and warm and while some might find him ridiculous looking he was ok with that - because he was comfortable. Keeping close to Caleb's side, the doctor this morning had warned him not to hurt his arm again cause it might still be delicate as it had only just gotten out of a cast...plus his arm having lost some muscle mass was likely to be weaker right now, as he was trying to avoid being jostled by the large amount of people here. His stronger, at the moment, hand was laced with Caleb's hand as he moved through the crowd to try and find something to nibble on, other than candy, or something to drink - he was sort of hungry...or just bored and wanting to put something into his mouth as a snack.
Nearly colliding with a woman who just stepped out in front of him, stopping just in time, he stared at the woman who was dressed in what he figured was perhaps a bit too revealing of an outfit. Wrinkling his nose as he watched her leave, not even noticing the near collision, he shook his head and pressed closer to the others side.

Miles Fury (Dressed as Nick Fury) Halloween was one of Miles' absolute favorite times of the year, and with very good reason. Granted, he'd already had something of an unfortunate incident with the holiday and some delicious - but detrimental to the comfort of his pain receptors in his mouth - Halloween candy, but Miles was absolutely convinced that he'd simply been the victim of one of those holiday ruining bastards that were the whole reason parents told horror stories to their kids about razor blades in apples, needles in taffies, and other nastiness buried within the delicious goodies gathered via Trick or Treating.
A one in a million bit of bad luck, that was all, not some sort of weird portent of things to come.
Prior to dressing up to attend the Destiny City’s Botanical Garden's snazzy little event, he'd gotten himself quite neatly stoned (Halloween events - indeed, most events - were far more entertaining when one was flying in the sweet embrace of Mary Jane) and had arrived in plenty of time to enjoy the free snacks and candy, to mingle a little bit with the friendlier patrons, and to watch the various presentations that were available. At least, until he got bored and distracted and ended up escaping the reception hall to wander around a bit outside before the rain began and the garden staffers ushered each of the attendees back into the main building to wait out the downpour. "Man, a little rain never hurt nobody!" His words were affronted, but his expression wasn't angry and he didn't fight the staffer that was gently but firmly insisting he rejoined the others; Miles didn't want to be kicked out, after all, he just wanted to make his objections - such as they were - known.
And truly, a little rain hadn't ever harmed anyone he knew about...except maybe acid rain - or if you counted fictional characters, the Wicked Witch had melted into a gross puddle of goo after being splashed - but beyond things like that, rain was basically harmless. Miles glanced around as he rejoined the other patrons, blinking a bit; with so many of the people around him in some sort of make up or other, maybe this time it was for the best that they stayed out of the rain? Miles' costume didn't require him to use any make up, but it definitely looked like a lot of the others did (some to get those awesome 'undead' special effects going).
"Man, whatever." Miles carefully smoothed the lapels on his stiff leather coat and ran a hand through his curls to check if the black dye would stain his fingers. He'd thought it was semi-permanent, but that didn't always mean s**t - luckily, it seemed as though he'd chosen well, his fingers came away damp, but without beads of colour staining them. "Cool." Once he'd determined that all was well, the stoned Nick Fury headed back to the snack table, not really noticing as the weirdly heavy fog rolled in because he was far more interested in getting more of that delicious looking food into his belly than he was paying attention to stuff around him.WC:527

Bailey Jameson [Dressed as Espeon]
Bailey was ridiculously excited. She loved Halloween, and she was getting to hang out with her boys! [She was....pretty sure they could be considered dating? Sort of? Even if they were younger and Daniel's older brother was tagging along and thus making it hard for them to really be any level of sappy.] "We shouldn't have to! And if we do, well...Daniel could always distract them and you and I could grab it and we can meet up under one of the tables or something!" And if that happened, both boys would get a smooch for effort!
...She really hoped they didn't have to pull that, though, because it was better to just share.

Hux Evans (dressed as Alucard) Dressing up was something that Hux never had any problems with, taking enjoyment out of picking one out and seeing if he could get someone to join him in a theme. So when it was clear that Alexandre and he would be going to the Botanical Garden's event, the taller blond of course took the time to pick something out. Though he was sure to choose something easy to move and fight in considering his cousin's tale. When he asked Tink what he was going to go as, seeing if maybe they could theme up, and got told that his little cousin was going to go as a butler, well Hux had a few different ideas he could go with for that. He ended up caving and dressing up as Alucard though he didn't put on a wig or contacts to complete the outfit. Once they had gotten to the Gardens however, it was a bit disappointing to be confined inside for the moment. "Well hopefully things will clear up soon?" Hux whispered back to Alex. ~*~*~ Terry Hyatt (dressed as Shinichi Kudo) Honestly the Cat Woman costume had really been a joke but one that Terry couldn't resist suggesting to his husband. Still it was probably for the best that Seung had turned that idea down over all since this wasn't really that kind of party that they were going to be going to. Though the fact that Seung was wearing his school outfit... it was just as distracting to him as what the other could have been. It also made it hard to try and theme up. In the end Terry had picked out an outfit that at least sort of matched, by way of it being a Japanese school uniform since he had dressed up as Shinichi Kudo. Now that they were at the Gardens though he was glad for the long sleeves since fog and rain tended to be on the cold side of things if they ended up outside at all. "Hopefully the fog will clear out before we end up doing the maze." Terry said as he gave his husband a smile then looked over at his two cousin-in-laws. ~*~*~ Hyeon Kim (dressed as Yusuke Hanamura) He hadn't been about to stay home when Seung and Eunkyung had been planning on going to the Botanical Gardens, so Hyeon had picked out an outfit he had felt appropriate over all. Said outfit happened to be Yusuke Hanamura from the Persona series, just for nostalgia. He absolutely adored how Eunkyung's fairy outfit turned out though and he had been sure to compliment the two on a job well done. At the current time, he was standing off to Seung's side with his own cup as both Terry and Eunkyung answered Seung's question. He didn't throw in his opinion on top of things since he didn't have anything to add to it at the moment. Instead he was content to stand there looking around at the other guests and see how they all interacted together and separately. It looked like a few people weren't liking the atmosphere and others were loving it. At least from what he could gather. ~*~*~ Hania (dressed as a Witch Cat) When Hania had first heard about the event at the Botanical Gardens, he wasn't really sure if he would end up going at all. It wasn't until he remembered what had gone on last year that he decided to go, just to keep an eye out for anything that could go wrong. So he had Kailey pick him up a little black witch hat and he went with her to the gardens which thankfully didn't seem to care if 'pets' were included so long as they were well behaved. ~*~*~ Joanna Watson (dressed as Commander Shepard) While it wasn't an anime convention, it was a chance to dress up and to possibly make some new friends. So Joanna picked out a costume, in particular a female Commander Shepard in army fatigues rather then full armor. Currently she was walking around the hall with a drink in hand as she looked for anyone familiar or who caught her eye. Kaefaux but quoting you guys just so you can see Kitomyx what I was planning on having them dressed as.

When Yvaine heard the voice her eyes flickered in different directions before settling on its source. She smiled, her fingers twitching as she wondered if it would help if she reached out to pull him over, however, he seemed to join them easy enough despite the crowd. “Of course I remember, my amnesia does not reset every day you know.” It was a joke, but a fair question to ask, her mind did feel like a watering can most days. Grey eyes looked between the two people and valiantly took on her role as the common denominator.
“Gwen, this handsome man is Robin, and when he is not a skeleton he plays the guitar outside DCU, has a wonderful singing voice and he also does private performances if you ask him nicely. He is from England too, which means he has this damnably adorable accent… which is why he makes most his tips, I expect.” She leant in and whispered the last part to her friend, but not quite enough that Rob did not hear. She then turned to the blonde and touched her lady friends arm gently.
“And Robin, this is beautiful lady is Gwyneth, she has a love for flowers and a passion for art. After my accident she let me look through her sketchbook to try and find scenes and places I recognised. She is a natural redhead from what I know and has one of the most pleasant and warm aura’s you will ever find attached to a person. She is also very modest so don’t believe her when she says her sketches are not that special or that she is not that nice… they are both lies.” As if to mirror what she just did, she leaned closer to Robin to whisper the last part. She then stepped back slightly and let the two meet properly.

Michi (Dressed as a butterfly) Michiko was in the main hall with everyone else, she was so excited for the games to start. Michi would love to see or win a rare plant. Michiko loved plants especially fruit plants, she had her own garden in her parent's backyard that she tended her garden every day. She didn't mind the rain setting in it just meant to her that her garden would get a wonderful fresh rain. Michi looked around the food and candy table curious what treats there were to be had at the party. Michiko left the food table without getting anything she bought a raffle ticket with the money her mom gave her. She put her ticket in her small black bag. Michiko looked out the window at the fog that was rolling in rain and fog it made for a spooky Halloween party. She thought to herself.

Steele Moore ( dressed as a vampire )
This was not going nearly as well as he'd hoped. Steele was struggling to maintain his usual cool, charismatic facade, deliberately ignoring the very obvious fact of her disinterest and focused instead on the fact that he was a very nice person and she was a very nice person, and there was nothing wrong with two very nice people speaking to each other.
Clearly.
"Rowdy drunks are the worst," Steele agreed smoothly, which was actually the truth. He'd done some pretty rowdy, drunken things in college and occasionally here and now when he had a bit too much wine, but for the most part, he found it unsightly. "This seems like a much more pleasant atmosphere - not to mention calmer."
He flashed the woman a smile that was less smarmy and a touch more actual conversational.
"The food is an excellent addition. Will you tell me your name now?"Basil Whybourne ( dressed as his usual self, in nice slacks, button down, and vest )
He couldn't help the faint smile that touched his lips; just a hint of one, really, but it was there anyway before it disappeared. "I read a lot," said Basil, "But I still haven't heard of any of that. Still," he added, with a shrug of his shoulders. "I suppose it's not too far of an outreach. I should look things up and see if there is reasonable evidence to back up the theory of sentient fauna."
Evidence was always the way to go. Evidence and research. Basil cast a sideways glance at Lysander, curiosity in his eyes.
"Sort of like Pavlov and his dog? A guttural, instinctive reaction to a stimulus?"Nathaniel Parrish ( dressed as a farmer )
His expression was a little amused, playfulness sparkling in Nathaniel's green eyes.
"They're very impressive," he said with a bob of his head, syllables sliding a little together. "I've been here a few times myself, but that's mostly 'cause I really like plants. 'M a gardener most of the time, so I like t'see what other plants there are aroun' the city n' all."
Her enthusiasm made him laugh. Nathaniel stuck out a hand.
"Farmer Nat, at your service," he said amicably. "What's your name, princess?"Archer Wren ( dressed ironically as a black dog )
The leash was given a mutinous look every few minutes, if only because Archer knew the significance of it, and so did Lauri, and he hated the publicity of it all, even if it was only between the two of them. He was also resisting the very strong urge to snatch it from the Finn's fingers and use it as a garrote, but doing that publicly was probably a bad idea when not powered up.
A shame.
"Everything feels waiting," said Archer, keeping his voice as level as possible, the guise of his civilian form like a costume in and of itself; just another face to put on when he was trying to get something from someone. Whatever happened tonight, it sure as hell needed to benefit him in some way, otherwise the whole charade was pointless.
His dark eyes scanned the room.
"What exactly do you think it's waiting for?" Archer said airily, tipping his own flute up to take a small sip. "It's fog. It's better foggy, though I don't care for the rain."

Lysander Cadwell (Dressed as a modern vampire) "Now you're in my territory." He grinned, glad Basil had mentioned Pavlov. "It's probably something like that. The flowers can respond to stimuli but they can also recognize when the stimuli isn't a danger to them so they stop protecting themselves." It sounded like something interesting to read up on but he didn't know if he'd really ever do it. Too much other stuff to read up on and learn. "It's interesting to think that there could be some sort of intelligence or consciousness that's different from our own. And it's right under our noses rather than out in space."

Toby Yates* (Dressed like Elf Kirito, but no wig, so reddish blond hair+green strip) After a few minutes of standing around, alternating between watching people (so many neat costumes...way more non-crappy ones than he'd have expected, all told), and staring at plants, he decided it was time to do what he really came here to do. Meet people! Who, though? He scanned around, and decided the cheery looking butterfly girl he'd spotted looking at some plants earlier. She looked to be roughly his age, so that was good... It took only a moment of consideration to decide how to approach before he simply walked up next to her, glanced at her face, then out into the fog. "It's cool looking fog, isn't it?" he asked. "Fits Halloween pretty well!" He turned back to her and grinned happily. "Sorry, just saw you standing here alone, thought I'd say hi!" He held out a hand. "I'm Toby!"

Basil Whybourne ( dressed as his usual self, in nice slacks, button down, and vest )
He considered this, Basil slowly mulling it over.
"So, there would be similarities between them and humans, in a sense," he said, after a moment's thought. "Humans have a tendency to protect themselves from outside or unwanted stimuli. But I suppose they also sometimes don't recognize when something isn't a danger, therefore inducing pain or consequences for not realizing. Perhaps that the same of plants as well."
He reached out a hand, Basil's fingers skimming the fern again, though it was a much more contemplative touch than before, as though he was trying to figure something out.
"Perhaps one day scientists will figure out a way to communicate."
