Zak's bag was honestly heavy by the time he got to Iki Town, and he was looking forward to lightening it. First thing was first, he just counted the shells and discarded the eggs, once he was sure he didn't need them. He put the shells in their own packet in his bag, and released Rufflet and Totodile to enjoy the ocean air, and let the gator go splash in the ocean. Honestly, he wanted to let Daeva out, but she was still too unpredictable. Especially with so many people around; she might incite a scurry. He'd try and find an open space where he could properly handle her, later. Maybe with Deys and Sotnik by his side....
In the meantime, he was going to go find Scarlett, and see what there was to buy here. The variety was pretty impressive, but he didn't catch sight of the redhead until he noticed the person she was talking to, first. Given he'd seen his face more recently -- and in a memorable way -- Ashley's appearance stood out immediately. He didn't instantly recognize him; there was a moment of familiarity, then shocking realization. His gaze moved to Scarlett after, and a whole host of other feelings swarmed up inside. First, defensive concern and anger-- what if she told Ashley something important? The assurance that there was no reason she would, logically, calmed him down, and he frowned, staring. Before smirking. What a coincidence. Once the concern for danger subsided, Zak could appreciate the entertainment factor of it. Incredible. Of all the people...
He chuckled under his breath and adjusted his bag, calling in Totodile to keep him close as he headed towards them. It was funny that he just so happened to have two of his smaller pokemon, to minimize his presence, and avoid looking like he was trying to be intimidating. Totodile was a bit manic looking (and acting), but it wasn't like he was a Feraligatr. Yet.
"Hallo, Mishka," he greeted casually, coming on the two from Scarlett's side, stopping slightly short of being directly in front of Scarlett, to avoid blocking her view. His gaze was more on Ashe, though; as it should have been, even had he not known him. He was the ' unfamiliar', of the two. "Who's your friend?" He turned his gaze back to Scarlett, his expression passive, one hand casually gripping the strap of his bag, the other holding the soccerball under his arm. He wasn't going to give anything away.... but on the inside, he was just thrilled to meet his latest hack victim face to face.

Huey sighed gently as they touched down in, what he could only assume was, Iki Town. It seemed like a pleasant place to live, all things considered, though it was hard to see the town as just that, a town, past the luau decorations. Tucking his flower behind his ear once more--he was proud of himself for having kept up with it for this long--he hoped down off of Staraptor, patted her gently, then walked around slowly, doing his best to avoid running into anyone going by. He wasn't quite sure where he was supposed to go to turn in his eggs, but after a few minutes of wandering he managed to find the table where he could turn his eggs in. Scarlett shook her head when Ashe asked if she'd finished her starting region. "Malheureusement non. Je suis sur le point d'obtenir mon cinquième badge consécutif. Cependant, je trouve que la meilleure façon de s'entraîner pour ces choses est de voyager dans d'autres gymnases. De plus, j'aime voyager de toute façon, donc ce n'est pas si grave." She explained. Not a bad way to go at all. Why bother staying in one place, battling the same pokemon over and over when you could travel around the world, see new sights, collect the badges from other regions? Plus, it gave her the opportunity to quench her thirst for knowledge and culture. Of course, there was also the issue of having a higher chance to encounter less than helpful people in that regard. She laughed as Ashe dismissed those people for her as stupid and wishing to appear special, not because she didn't agree with him; quite the opposite in fact. She was amused by the accuracy of the statement. "Merci beaucoup. C'est pourquoi je ne m'arrête pas. Rencontrer des gens comme vous montre que mon travail mérite mon intérêt." She suggested with a genuinely happy smile. She rarely felt this good. Usually when she found joy, it was a cynical humor at the misfortune of others or irony of a situation, or the contentment of an occasional fling. But this... This was different. The kind of joy of finding someone to relate to and sympathize with. The social and homey sort of connection one felt with a friend or kindred spirit that she found in people like Skye.
When Ashe reassured her that she would find others with similar temperaments to his, she nodded. "J'espère vraiment que c'est vrai." She commented with a light sigh, biting back a comment on how, while there were bound to be more understanding people than not, she didn't exactly find herself in the company of understanding people where she frequented. No, if there was any place that she consistently spent her time, it was game corners, shady bars and underground trading and smuggling locations where she could sell her stolen goods and get information, and the people who hung around those places weren't the most sympathetic and understanding of people. One wrong word, one wrong look, and a fight would break out. They were thieves, murderers, crooks. Not the most savory of people.
When Scarlett explained the meaning of Ashe's name, he claimed that he'd never thought of the meaning, or how poetic it was, but he didn't exactly seem... Happy about it either. Scarlett had been hoping to cheer him up with the information, so having the opposite effect left her with a concerned expression until he resumed the smile he'd worn before. Perhaps he was just deep in thought, or that's what Scarlett assumed as a possibility until Ashe said something odd. A name he didn't choose.... No one really chose their names, so it seemed odd to specify unless... Well, Scarlett dismissed the thought. She wasn't one to pry. After all, she didn't want anyone prying into her personal life either, so it only seemed fair that she treat others with the same respect (if they were people she liked, at least). If he wanted to explain, he would have.
However, if she couldn't make him feel better about his name, then she would explain the misfortune of her own fake one to hopefully create credible sympathy. Still, Ashe insisted that he would think positively about it, given that Christmas was such a joyful holiday. "Merci. Je suppose que j'aime Noël." She chuckled, offering another subtle attempt to cheer him up about his own name by suggesting how she thought it was handsome like he was, earning her a smirk from the man, which satisfied Scarlett. Especially since, she managed to convince him to drink with her since he agreed it wasn't fun to drink alone. Plus this was supposed to be his vacation. She firmly believed then, that he should treat it like one instead of worrying about work. Then again she was just thinking of a desk job, not assuming he'd just been hacked by Zak and used to get information from the Interpol database or she might have had a different opinion. Still, Ashe seemed to like the drink and thanked her for the convincing, so Scarlett considered it a success. "Vous êtes les bienvenus." She smiled, still playfully mischievous like the cat who ate the canary. It wasn't like she was up to anything, but she found this accomplishment of convincing Ashe to break his own rule to be extremely satisfying.
Upon finding that Zak would be arriving soon, Scarlett felt she needed to take the opportunity of getting Ashe's number, and quickly, so she explained her text and inquired about Ashe's plans after the festival. Understandably, it depended on his work situation, but given that more than likely he would be in Kalos, and probably worked there too, he agreed to show her around some time and even promising treasures. Scarlett's eyes almost gleamed at the prospect. She did like treasure. Hidden treasure even more so. "J'espère que c'est monsieur Fontaine...." She practically purred, watching as he wrote out his number on a slip of paper. "Votre écriture est une œuvre d'art..." She breathed, taking the slip of paper with a smile before pressing it between the pages of Dotty's thick leather bound notebook where it wouldn't get folded or wrinkled. Arceus, she would kill to write this beautifully... She actually felt a bit too embarrassed to try and tear a piece of paper out and write anything down on it. Her handwriting was so plain and scrawly since she hardly ever wrote by hand, plus being homeschooled unfortunately meant she was at the mercy of the doctors note kind of handwriting that her father had. The combination left something to be desired, but at least hers was somewhat legible. This was why she resorted to having Cypher record everything and save typed documents. "Merci, je le ferai. Pardonnez-moi de ne pas vous donner mon numéro en retour, mais mon écriture est tellement horrible que vous n'obtiendrez probablement pas le bon numéro de toute façon." She laughed and shook her head. "Je promets de vous faire un message lorsque je pose votre numéro dans mes contacts, de sorte que vous l'auriez alors." She insisted.

Scarlett blinked and turned to look as Zak approached. His tone was casual, his expression passive, as usual. She wasn't quite sure what she was expecting from the stoic man. Jealousy? Ha, no, she could only wish for such a reaction. "Alola Kotik. Glad you could make it." She smiled pleasantly, noting that his gaze was fixed casually on Ashe. "Monsieur Ashley Fontaine, he was keeping me company while I waited for you to finish up. He is a lovely conversationalist, I must say. It seems we share a lot of interests." She smiled at Ashe brightly. "Ashe, this is the acquaintance I mentioned." She suggested, gesturing to Zak, casually leaving the introduction for him to handle however he deemed fit. Actually, this was a good learning opportunity. How did Zak handle these situations? Did he give false names? Dodge introductions entirely? Or did he typically give his name freely, and she was just given special and hellish treatment just because of their strange 'partnership' ?

Hm, so she’d yet to finish her first region? Though going onto the fifth badge meant she was about hallway there. Impressive none the same and the logic between swapping between regions to maintain a training regime was smart. Maybe if he became more serious about the trainer business, he’d copy that strategy for himself.
"C'est une stratégie judicieuse, madame. Je vous souhaite de bonne chance sur ce prochain badge; J’entends qu’ils deviennent plus difficiles après le point à mi-chemin." Travelling, battling, exploring; it certainly sounded like Scarlett lived a very active life. He was curious where she’d been so far given her interest.
"Bien. Je suis heureux d'avoir aidé à vous rappeler cela." He commented once more, pleased to see what seemed to be a genuine smile appear across her face. He found himself rather pleased with the conversation as well; it was a wonderfully pleasant distraction from his prior frustrations and just… humanizing he supposed.
"C'est. Ayez la foi." Ashley replied, taking a sip of his drink. He found it rather… curious that way she responded to the idea. He imagined with her love of culture and the travelling, she’d have had far more pleasant experiences than she seemed to purport. Maybe it was just bad luck; it happened. Still, it struck him as odd.
"Ce qui est ne pas à l’amour? C’est encore mieux quand il y a neige." He mused, chuckling. It was a rather humorous thought, speaking about a winter holiday while lounging on the beach. Ironic even. He could sense she seemed to be trying to cheer him up, opting to shift gears a bit and return his focus to the situation at hand; there was no point mulling over his personal issues and ruining her enjoyment of piecing names together. He smirked even more at the mischievous manner, sipping the drink again to give her further points for her accomplishment. He wasn’t sure if she delighted in the act of getting him to drink or just him loosening up but well, he could give per props for being so smooth about it.
He couldn’t help but give a prideful smirk as she commented on his writing. "Vous êtes trop gentil. Je suis fan de la calligraphie. Je n'arrive pas à utiliser mes compétences souvent." He remarked, tucking the paper away once he’d handed her the paper. Which was true; when you spent a majority of your time on a computer, you hardly spent any time writing. It was probably the years of practice that kept his skills on point. The fact that she so carefully stored it away was a bit of an ego booster too, though he certainly didn’t let the pride shine through. He chuckled a bit at her remark of her own hand writing, giving a gentle shake of his head.
"Ne parlez pas mal de vous-même. Je suis sûr que ce n'est pas la vérité. Il n'y a aucun problème, j'attends avec impatience votre message." Ashley commented, giving a faux look of disapproval and a ‘tsk tsk’ as well. It didn’t last long though and he dropped it in favor of a more relaxed expression, sipping his drink once more. He felt the presence of another approach the chairs, confirmed as a voice casually chimed in. Ashley directed his gaze to the stranger, staring back as he caught his gaze. He was a tall one, exceptionally so with the appearance of a jock, especially with the soccer ball under his arm. Good looking but… he seemed just a tadbit on the young side, which he found curious.
Ashley remained silent as Scarlett introduced him, noting the pet names passed between the two. Was it… Russian, he believed? He wasn’t privy but he thought as much and gave a little nod in greeting to the man.
"Bonjour," he remarked, head tilting curiously, "it is a pleasure monsieur…?" Ashley noted that Scarlett had not introduced the fellow and supposed she was allowing him to do so himself. Interesting. Either way, the French man began to store away his things, snapping the computer shut and tucking it back into his bag. He’d need to recollect his pokemon and such and get moving. He certainly didn’t want to intrude upon Scarlett and her friend’s time together. Plus, he needed to get back to focusing on the task he’d started.
"It was a pleasure speaking with you, madam Marquee. I greatly enjoyed our conversation." Ashley remarked, getting to his feet, placing a hand to his chest and giving a little bow. "I should hope we meet again soon. Do keep up your practice, I should hope we can continue in French again." He commented with a slight smile, gently picking the Gekkit up on his arms to keep from disturbing it, giving another casual glance at Zak as well. "I should hope you both enjoy the festivities."

Adder arrived at Iki Town after some rest, self conscious, and a bit anxious, but appearing just grumpy, as always. There were... a lot of people here. And now he needed to actually decide what he was going to do with those shells he'd been collecting and sorting out. First, he went to make sure he didn't need the actual eggs or anything, before tossing them, and counting up the shells he had. Each egg produced 5, he'd collected 50, so he had... 250. That was a decent amount, though looking at the prices, the stuff that really seemed worthwhile was... pretty much over half, or just under half, of that. So he'd have to decide whether to buy big, or make a lot of more small, investment purchases....

Nova, meanwhile, followed her trainer closely, before taking a seat next to him when they finally arrived at the table. At some point during the night, it seemed she'd thrown on the broad sunhat, and the light shawl she'd bought with Isis, with the cloth draped over her shoulders. Her own plate of food was practically nothing but sweets, desert foods that she'd grown a taste for ever since Lumiose.
"Morning," he greeted, ignoring his psychic's curious attire. Zero took a few minutes to simply eat for a bit, getting the food out of the way before going into a proper conversation. She seemed busy with her reading material, anyway. It didn't take too long for him to finish though, the young man eating somewhat light. "I'm probably gonna head down to the luau in a few minutes," he began, collecting whatever happened to be left on his plate before taking one final bite. "I think I've got at least a vague idea of what I'll be getting out of these eggs. What's your plan for the day?" As if Zak didn't know. He kept his neutral expression at the name, but internally, he was grinning. That vanished, though, as Scarlett continued, and his brow furrowed, just a bit. Well, wasn't she heavy handed with the praise. What, was she trying to make him jealous? ... That was probably a stupid thought. He wasn't sure how to feel about them 'sharing a lot of interests', though. Different time, different place, different situation, he might have half-jokingly asked if that included attractive men while indicating himself, but he wasn't feeling quite as jokingly playful at the moment. Instead, he shifted his gaze to Ashe, and gave a nod in greeting, before flashing a bit of a smile at the clear prompt to give a name. "Feel free to make something up. 'That handsome devil' usually works for most," he replied, playing it off like he was just joking, but knowing that it might have been a pretty transparent effort to not give his name.
He raised an eyebrow and glanced at Scarlett at the 'Marquee' name, wondering if that was a false name she'd given, or a pet name the two had already formed. He looked back to Ashe, dropping shoulder and tilting his head. He couldn't really tell if the guy was as pompous as he'd guessed or not, but he certainly was prim and proper. Criminy. He glanced back to Scarlett again when he also mentioned speaking French; he'd heard some of that, when walking up, but he hadn't really gotten they'd been conversing in it. Whatever. Zak shifted his focus more steadily to Ashe as he bid farewell, admittedly waiting till he was gone before he swept over and dropped down to take his place. He cast a look over at Scarlett. "Having fun?" he drawled.

Done with their meals, Avikna stood to stretch out her body. Tay stayed with her group of Pokemon. Watching her for a bit, she eventually stepped up and called to Tay. "Why don't we check out some more of the Luau's attractions now?" Tay spun around, landing with a firm stop. "Okay!" She called. Turning towards her Pokemon she returned a large chunk of them, leaving Vivi for last. The beast knew by now that going into crowded places meant it'd be returning to it's ball for the time being. He lowered his head, pushing it into Tay as she approached. "Hehe, Don't worry Vivi. I'll let you out again soon, promise."
Meanwhile, up in the air, Arietty flew a tad closer to Jas, offering a few happy-sounding growls. "Great! I'm sure Avikna will be happy to run into her again. She always seems happier when Ajicka is around." That aside, the Charizard was eager to catch up with Jas. "Anyway, how have you been? I've got quite the tale to regale." The Charizard Y let out a few chuckles. Though, her story wasn't all sunshine and roses, it was a fascinating tale, at least to her it was. Arietty held Avikna in a far higher regard than perhaps she should. The events of the past and how her trainer had re-obtained Tay and Ookoth was like a fantasy, as though it hadn't entirely happened how she remembered, but it did. Scarlett nodded in thanks as Ashe complimented her strategy for training and wishing her luck in getting badges. It was true that battles seemed to be getting harder just to reach the halfway point, let alone fight the battles beyond. It was why she'd somewhat been taking her sweet time training and preparing her team before fighting Fantina. Perhaps too long, now that Zak seemed back into the fray after secluding himself and working for who knew how long. She had to wonder if that was somehow her fault, or if he really had just been busy with work.
Speaking of Zak and other people not pleased when Scarlett imitated their accents and languages, Scarlett expressed her appreciation for Ashe being so open and kind to her love of language. The conversation had been surprisingly pleasant, more than she had expected going in, and she was glad he reminded her why she did this sort of thing, for the positive interactions. He seemed to feel the same way, saying as much and encouraging her to have faith that she would meet others like him. She nodded appreciatively at least, even if she didn't believe it herself. It was far better in this situation to just nod in appreciative agreement. Not that she could explain why she didn't believe it even if she was so inclined.
As they discussed names however, Scarlett's faux one seemed to somehow get them into a conversation about Christmas. In summer. When they were on a tropical island near the beach. Zak was on his way, and Scarlett knew that she would be needing to devote all of her attention to him when he arrived, so in the meantime she got Ashe's number, a signed work of art that Scarlett stored carefully so that it wasn't damaged. She chuckled lightly as he playfully chided her for being too hard on herself. Scarlett chuckled, both amused and trying to make his playful suggestion more believable rather than suspicious, resisting the urge to playfully roll her eyes at his ego. Once again, Meebus' exaggerated texts came to mind. He really had been spot on. Playfully not giving any name at all seemed like an odd choice, but Scarlett wasn't going to comment. At least not now. Zak seemed just as questioning of her own false name. Scarlett had noticed the look he gave her when Ashe mentioned "Marquee", but ignored it in favor of nodding appreciatively at Ashe. If Zak had any questions, he could ask them later. "And you as well. Thank you." She nodded, smiling as Ashe packed up and remarked on meeting again soon and continuing to converse in French. "I think it's good, a little on the tropical fruity side, but that's not surprising given the venue. Have you turned in your eggs already?" She asked curiously. "I couldn't believe how much they were weighing my bag down until I got rid of them. It was like I'd been weight training without knowing it." She laughed. "The prizes aren't bad either..." She noted, making a mental reminder to go through that list she had again at a later date, start emailing in orders for her other prizes. "I wonder if they time you. I bet if they did, you would have all their records blown out of the water. Seriously. How did you collect them so fast?" She eventually set it aside to actually eat, but glanced up when Zero mentioned where he'd be going. "Alright," she replied simply. She shrugged, not quite finishing her food, but pretty much wrapping up. "Probably the same, for the most part. I likely won't stick around much longer unless I need to, though," she admitted, grabbing a napkin, "I want to get back to training. What about you? Figure out what you'll be doing after this?" She started piling up her plates and making sure her pokemon were ready, not expecting the conversation, or even the general interaction, to last very long.
Jas, meanwhile, was having an interaction of his own. He perked up some as Arietty moved closer, looking with interest, and then surprise, at her comment. "Really?" he asked, surprised. No one was happier around Ajicka.... well besides him, and maybe a few more of her other pokemon. But, anyone that could willingly spend time with others seemed to typically.... prefer that option. Not that he didn't love his trainer, he did, immensely, he just... knew that she wasn't exactly a human-socially skilled individual. Scarlett smirked at Zak's suggestion of her being up to something with all the flattery that she was throwing at him. "What, you don't think getting 50 eggs across seven regions in under a week is worth a little celebration and praise?" She suggested with a grin. "I never pegged you to be the modest type." She teased playfully, watching as he tasted her drink with a shrug of what Scarlett thought seemed to be indifference before picking himself something else from the server while Scarlett took hers back and gave it another sip herself, not having caught Zak's lingering gaze on the waiter. "Huh... I didn't see you come in, but I guess I was a little.... Distracted." Scarlett admitted. Between her engrossing conversation with Ashe, all the people, the alcohol, and the fire dancers, there was a lot for her to pay attention to. She wasn't exactly on high alert either, given that Zak told her he was coming and she figured he would find her eventually.
She chuckled at the idea of feathers filling the eggs instead of shells as Zak suggested. "That would have been nice for lightweight carrying, but Arceus, can you imagine trying to pour feathers out to weigh or count them? What if it was windy?" She could barely contain the laugh boiling up at the idea of some poor sap trying to exchange their feathers and a strong gust of wind turning their feathers to empty air in a matter of seconds. How horrid! She was able to settle down her impending giggle fit as she mentioned the prizes, nodding as Zak asked if she had exchanged hers already. "Yeah, the shells at least. Not the other ones for just collecting the eggs. I'm still thinking about what to pick from those. I figured since there wasn't as much of a hurry there I could just worry about it later." She suggested with a dismissive wave. She was in no hurry. There wasn't many things she needed either, other than something that would help her pokemon train faster. She was aware of the tools available to her but like she said. Worry about it later.
Scarlett quirked a brow as Zak decided to be modest and admit that his pokemon had helped him out immensely in the hunt. "So did mine, but it still took me more than a week." She suggested with a chuckle. "Though I guess I did only have one or two out, rather than a team. That makes sense." She nodded. It also made sense that some were easier to find than others. "Yeah, I felt the same way. My heart sank when we ended up in Lumiose City. What kind of sadist hid eggs there? That place was huge and it took forever." She shook her head. "In fact, I think there was at least one egg in each region that was hidden in a large city, save for like... Alola... Let's see... Celadon, Goldenrod, Mauvile, Castelia, Lumiose.... I guess Veilstone is a large city too but I'm not counting that one. I found my egg there inside of a meteorite so I wasn't exactly searching around the city itself..." She noted, looking thoughtful.
With a light chuckle, Scarlett supposed since he'd already taken care of his eggs, she should probably go ahead and move on to the next topic at hand. "So...." She suggested, finishing her drink and setting it aside. "I have a few options for you. We can enjoy ourselves here, have some drinks, relax on the beach..." She offered, swinging her legs over the side of the chair to turn towards Zak fully, sitting up and leaning in a little closer. "But you know, I've always liked a little adventure. If you don't want to hang around a crowd, I can buy some spirits of your choice, we can skip this place and go somewhere else. Have our own party somewhere private, see where the night takes us...." She suggested with a tilt of her head and a small smile. As suggestive as her offer sounded, being alone would also provide the opportunity to talk a little more freely about anything on his mind. Not that she expected him to speak for himself, but asking questions that she may or may not be inclined to answer.

With his own food off the plate and entirely consumed, Zero leaned back in his chair to let it all settle, his gaze wandering to the side to see Nova still munching away at her deserts, one tiny bite at a time. He nodded at Ajicka's response, mulling over his answer momentarily before he had a full response. "I'll probably wander for a bit longer," he said, reaching to take one last sip of the drink he had. "I'm more or less on standby until I hear back from Isis, so I'll probably walk around just to see if they have anything else at this place. After that, unless something comes up... It's probably back to training for me to." The Gardevoir beside him shot a small, worried glance his way, a look her trainer didn't seem to notice.
His shadow stirred beneath him as Zero rose from his seat, collecting his own plates when his psychic companion finally finished her sweets. He wasn't exactly the best conversationalist either, unable to properly segue into something else or transition organically into a broader topic. They both seemed ready to move on though, so he opted to simply let things wrap. "At any rate, it's been fun. It's been a while since I last got to spend time with anyone beyond my closest friends." Ashley gave a ‘polite’ smile at the introduction he received from Zak, eyebrow quirking thoughtfully. He kept any remarks that might’ve suggested to himself, finishing collecting his things and bidding farewell to the pair before walking off, Genevieve awakening and darting from under the chair to follow. He went about locating his pokemon scattered around the place, returning them to their pokeballs, the last being Bastien who seemed far happier and refreshed after his treatment. A pleasant change from the agitation during the egg hunt. With that collected he double checked his things and deciding on his next course of action. He needed to get back to work and as he walked, checked his communicator regarding the text.
Ashley’s gaze narrowed and he ‘tch’ed under his breath, mood swiftly changing from the pleasant one he’d managed to develop during his chats with Scarlett to annoyed once more. Ballsy and rude. He found himself more focused than ever at this point; this was basically… a challenge. If there was anything Ashley did not do, it was accept threats. Especially from cyberpunks like this. Stone cold resolve directed his actions and would do the same in this situation. Quickly he typed out a response before tucking the device away and pulling out the riding pager. Apparently, he could continue to make use of it for a bit and decided the best bet would be to move to one of the cities to continue to get away from the crowds. It didn’t take long for a Charizard to appear and quickly he mounted up and headed off for Hau’Oli City.
