Caper held his hands over his mouth, eyes wide. "That's my bird on your head!" the Giest squeaked at Silas, looking rather anxious. "I'll - I'll grab him!" he bounced forward, practically smothering the sitting boy in is sweater as he tried to calm the blue Cockatriel that sat on the other's head. It flew up towards the ceiling and Caper gasped, turning as his familiar dissipated over the crowd. He frowned heavily. "Oh no..."
Caper worried his lower lip, turning to the blond. "Are you okay? I'm sorry!" he practically plead. That was so rude of him! Maybe he wasn't cut out for pets.
"Eet ees a pleasure to meet you both, Perigor end Histeol--Teo." The definitely-hybrid boy seemed upset by something, though what it was she couldn't quite tell. People were not really Ustule's thing anyway. She liked studying them, and helping them out, and...oh, drat. The more she thought about it, the more she realized she...kinda was a people person. That was a disturbing thing to realize at the elderly age of 11! She was too old to be learning new things about herself, darnit!
Though apparently she wasn't too old to make friends. So Perigor, the demon hybrid was called, seemed to vibrate with some sort of inner energy, and he seemed nervous around her. She wondered what it was. She didn't think of herself as being particularly intimidating, and it wasn't her race that was a problem--Prometheus was a Litch. So what was the issue? She looked over at Histeol. He was a little easier to figure out. He seemed to project an aura of calm around himself. She could see why people would be his friend...
Another girl was approaching, one that Ustule didn't know. She seemed to be friends with the others. She smiled at the new girl. If nothing else, the Baphomet shared Ustule's taste in color. Pink was best. Well, second-best, behind purple, but still one of the better colors. "You heve a friend there," she said, pointing to the animal trailing behind the girl.
Prometheus's question brought up an interesting point. Ustule blinked. This was her fifth year here at the Academy. She looked over at Perigor, the Baphomet, and Teo--they were from the cache, right? "They heve a besh every year, but eet hes never been thees..." She waved a hand. "Extrevegant."
Something bumped up against her leg. It appeared to be a violently blue chicken. A very small violently blue chicken, which was attempting to eat her toes. She reached down to pick it up and was punished with a n** on the fingers. Ustule sighed. Why did people let untrained animals that bit other people run amok? She accepted a bracelet from someone walking past and sighed as the animal tried biting her feet again.
Ustule also earned a familiar; it is going to Perigor, below.
Perigor squeezed Teo's hand back. How come Teo was so fricking calm wherever they went?! What was up with that guy? He looked into Teo's face and saw the calm smile. He sighed. He was being immature. It was easy to be immature with his pack of friends. Well, no, it was hard to be immature. But it sure as heck was easy to feel immature.
He was interrupted in feeling sorry for himself by the sound of a blessedly familiar voice. Peri was relieved to turn and see Parodia, barely visible under her bundled clothes, coming up to them. "Hey, Parodia!" he said. He gave her a grin and a wave. She looked cold. Well, sure, Peri was cold, too, but he was trying to fit in. Surrounded by so many fricking Litches, that was kind of hard. But he was once again interrupted in his thoughts, this time by Parodia's voice murmuring in his ear. "She's Ustule," he said softly. "Apparently she's another friend of Prometheus. You haven't missed much, we literally just fricking introduced ourselves to her." He shrugged and turned back to Ustule. "Yeah, it's not normally this fancy, Prometheus. Usually there are fewer prizes and not as many pets running amok. Looks like Ava went whole-hog with the celebration this year."
Perigor followed Ustule's gaze to look down at the tiny animal on the ground. Oh my fricking gosh, that thing was adorable! "Do you want that?" he asked the pink Litch. She shook her head. "Do you mind if I keep it, then?"
"If you cen cetch eet, eet ees all yours."
Perigor grinned. Maybe Ustule wasn't so bad after all? He reached down, ignoring the bites to his fingers, and picked up the animal, holding it to his chest. It bit clawed at his sweater, chewing on it ferociously. "I think it likes me!" He teased it with a candy cane an adult gave to him. It clung on and started sucking on it.
The familiar comes from Ustule's roll; she has gifted it to him.
His live-wire friend seemingly calmed a little, Teo was ready to return to the conversation, which was accompanied by a (slightly muffled) familiar voice and the sound of hooves clopping on the hard ground. Parodia! Even if he hadn't heard her voice, he'd know the sound of her gait anywhere. It was becoming a comfortingly familiar sound to Teo now. He didn't think he could identify her running, but he could definitely recognize the sound of her walking. "Hey, Parodia!" he said. "Don't worry, you haven't missed much. Except I think I'm wearing a piece of tinsel and a pair of reindeer antlers." He smiled.
"This is actually my first year here," he said in reply to Promme. "I didn't go here last year, so I have no idea. It does seem awfully fancy for a school for orphans, but maybe I'm just thinking too hard about all of this." He accepted a bundle of--candy canes?--and put them in his stocking.

The bit about Parodia having a "little friend" is in reference that you rolled a familiar in your last post! <3

Anchriesel recognized Foras. They'd only met a few times, but remembering people was something Chries was good at. Foras, he recalled, got in way more trouble with Gany when they were kids--and yet, he never seemed particularly bothered about it. Either a tougher individual than Chries was, or Foras was playing the same game he was. Either way, Chries knew an opportunity when he saw it. A double date? With someone who got on Gany's nerves? Sold! Chries smiled at Foras, returning the wink, and looped his arm in Gany's. "I'd love to," he murmured. "A double date sounds like just the thing this time of year. What do you think, Gany? I'd love to get to know your friends better."
Someone was walking around nearby with a bundle of giant stuffed animals. He narrowed his eyes. "Excuse me for a moment, please, Ganymede?" He jogged over to the person carrying the stuffed animals. "Excuse me, may I have one of those giant ones? It's for my boyfriend," he added. "We just started dating, this is our first party together?"
The adult looked at him, narrowed their eyes, then sighed. "Normally I wouldn't, kid--but your headmistress says we're to get rid of these in any way necessary." They handed him one. "Knock yourself out. And you two enjoy yourselves today, okay?"
Anchriesel nodded. "Of course." He accepted the giant cat thing and a book from a nearby stack labeled "FREE BOOKS" and jogged back to Ganymede. He plopped the giant plush next to the Geist. "It reminds me of you!" he said. He wondered briefly if he was pushing his luck.
The giant plushie is being gifted to Ganymede.

Batholith was still considering the prize he'd just won when he heard a familiar voice from behind him. He turned and shrugged at the Chimera. "Not a clue, Mytrax. I only just got it. Looks like a romance--I have no idea what's good or not in romance. It's not really my thing." He put the book away and stretched his arms. "So how's your Winter Solstice going?" he asked. He didn't really know what to do in this situation. Except maybe pick up another dart and throw it at the balloons. Which he did. It earned him yet another book--he picked one at random.

Xenophon left his new book, another classic (from the looks of it) in the bucket underneath his stocking. The Demon was doing a good job at keeping everything separate from the looks of it, as more students were coming over there to compete. He looked up at his dad. "Do you want to try again, too?"
Jurvik thought about it for a second, then nodded. "Sure, why not? Let's see how well we can do this time!" He handed the potted plant to the Demon and prepared to run.
"Ready! Set! Go!"
Xeno didn't do a heck of a lot better the second time, but he didn't want to seem like a poor sport for insisting that he go over and over until he got a good prize. Instead, he picked another book, smiled and said "thank you" to the Demon, and pulled his father along to the next booth.
The noise in the room was slowly starting to pick up. More and more people were coming to the festival to try their hands at the events. So far, though, there was one thing conspicuously missing from the festivities--the guests of honor. It was hard sometimes for Zalir to remember that there were supposed to be four new races--people from their sister world, Above. But it had been announced about a week ago, so yeah, zey would have expected to see more Daydreams. Still, there didn't seem to be a terrible lot of them. Ah, well. Zalir shrugged and threw another horseshoe, this time earning a plushie as a prize as well as another book. That was almost the best thing he could ask for here! Besides, y'know, an aetherjelly...
Finally, Faolan visited a booth that had sweets. He was so happy and almost couldn't hear another nightmare talking to him. Faolan turned and looked at the nightmare. Oh! another grimm. This is awesome! he thought.
"Hi! Thank you. I got them from this booth. Can't believe they're giving out these cool colors." he said. "Oh, by the way, mine name is Faolan. What's yours?"
Oh whew, he was the friendly type. You always risked not talking to someone friendly whenever you approached someone. His tail wagged behind him as the other Grimm introduced himself. Faolan! That was a pretty cool name, hopefully he'd remember it.
"Someone gave me mine a ways back. I'm Conley! And I'm...sort of new around here. This will be my first Solstice away from my Pack..." There he went again, reminding himself about his old Pack and all. He should be enjoying today! He'd found another Grimm to hang out with after all! Since he was at the booth anyway, he went ahead and selected a pack of candy canes for himself as well.
"Would you like to trade one of your light grebe candy canes for one of my darker ones?"
Tagging wagging gently as he wandered through the festival, Paladin found himself chuckling softly as a tiny chimera ran through the crowd tossing beaded bracelets. It was always nice to see the little ones getting into the spirit of things. As he watched, he felt something fall against his foot and glanced down. Smile widening, he knelt down to pick up the trinket. Whether the child had realized it or not, they'd managed to give him a bracelet that almost perfectly matched his fur.
Nepheline had found an out of the way corner to sit in while she glanced through the book she'd been given. It was a little rough around the edges, but the art on the cover was beautiful, as were the small illustrations inside. When she'd been offered a basket of books to pick from, she'd simply grabbed blindly. Clearly some form of good luck had been involved in her managing to grab the book that would interest her the most. As she sat reading, a grimm dressed in holiday finery and carrying a small basket of plush vespercat paused nearby and chuckled.
"Well now, it's lovely to see someone reading, but don't forget to exprience the rest of the fun, hmm? Here, have a plush. We've rather a lot of them."
Thanking the grimm, Nepheline smiled and picked out a plush, hugging it as she considered her treasures so far. Somehow, she wondered if she wasn't going to have to make trips back to her room just so she'd be able to walk.
Dalie gave her ear fins an experimental wiggle after the lady who'd just given her a set of silvery bell earrings finished clipping them on. The gentle, musical chiming made her smile. Of course, she couldn't wiggle her fins all the time, but once she started to walk again, the movement would make them chime softly.
She could have a theme song now. It would be a random theme. But she had a theme song now as she walked.
Jazilyn had missed the look her parents gave each other as she tossed a ball into a cup and won a bag of peanut brittle. While she was excited to win candy, she thought that she'd share with her sibs instead of being greedy. As they all moved from one booth to another, she saw one table offering plushies to any and all freshlings. Tugging on her mothers' hands, she pointed and looked up hopefully.
Moments later, she was toddling along, hugging a sealpup plush to her body and giggling softly.
Coralie watched her children closely, trying not to groan aloud as Jazilyn won a bag of candy. Well, maybe she'd be able to talk her tiniest into rationing the brittle out. Absently, she took her own turn to toss a ball into a cup and blinked as a pair of very shiny, very festive, red bell earrings were handed over to her.
Grinning a little, she put them on. If Ashlynn could prance around in antlers, she could wear red bells.
Forgetting her sometimes ponderous dignity for a moment, Adelinde draped the silver boa she'd been given around her shoulder and posed for a moment, enjoying the silvery against her own dark hair and fur. Okay, so maybe some of these games weren't so bad after all.
Even if she still felt a little guilty for not helping out more.
Laughing over Coralie's earring prize, Ashlynn was soon laughing even harder as she managed to win the green twins to her mate's red. Mirroring Coralie's actions, she put the earrings on and grinned.
Between Jazilyn's chatter and giggles, Gilby's new pet and the bells both adults now wore proudly, they were a very (unintentionally) noisy family.
Stopping to try out a fishing game, Zahneel held back, letting the smaller kids go first. When it was her turn, she dropped the string and hook into the barrel and swung it around, before feeling something catch. Drawing the hook back, she soon saw that she'd won a very pretty bundle of purple candy canes.
She told herself that she'd use them to liven up her room. But she knew they'd end up eaten.
Bindhi had become a victim of the bracelet tossing child, though really? She saw it as less victim and more happy recipient. Besides, how could anyone say no to a tiny, grinning kid giving out presents? She'd slipped her bracelet over her wrist and gone to check out a table offering a ball game with salamanders for prizes. Not that she really needed more pets, but they were so cute. And the little guy who looked like a peppermint drop was the cutest.
Moments later, she walked away smiling, holding her new pet quite gently as she carefully stroked it's little head with a fingertip.
When it was Gilby's turn at the game, they had almost expected to win candy or bells. But when a small, potted plant was handed over, they couldn't help but feel slightly relieved. Candy never lasted long and bells were noisy. But a plant was alive and could be cared for.
And whe they stopped at the plsuhie table for Jazilyn, Gilby picked out a purple kidden for themself. Smiling, they showed both prizes to the cockatriel. Who promptly attempted to chew on the plushie's leg.
The next stop had Hamish nearly dancing for joy. As Prague smiled and explained her small son's love of books, the demon at the table began to smile as well.
"Well, well, not often I see a young'un who likes books more than running about the place. Here, sonny. Pick one out."
Glancing over to see Prague's reassuring nod, Hamish moved closer to the table, eyeing the books with interest. Reaching out, he selected one that looked quite promising and thanked the demon before turning to walk away.
As the pair walked, Hamish was aware of a gentle glow that seemed to be following him. Looking up, he saw a tiny wisp and drew his adopted mother's attention to it.
"I think it wants to follow us home, little love," she said after some thought. "Keep an eye on it and if it sticks with you, you've got a new friend."
Surprised by his surprising, Gaius gave a slightly raise of his brows at the girls reaction to him, but didn't react or say anything more on it. He was too interested in the little potted plants!
Fully immersed in them, he walked around her to get a better look at the adorable tiny sprouts that were poked out from the soil of each pot. How adorable! after some mulling, and staring, and internal debating, he finally landed on one in particular with the red painted container. Lifting it up, he stared at it intensely, wondering what it might grow up to become! What sort of care it needed, too. So much to consider! Maybe his teacher could tell him what it'd be.
So engrossed in his new little friend, and treasure, he had nearly completely blocked Eilwen out and forgotten she was there! But by some miracle he did manage to pry his eyes away long enough to take note of the new addition to their party: a little familiar! smile lifting more, the Geist turned himself around to get a better look at the flitterat, "Hey, how cute." he commented, tilting his head to look at it from different angles, "Where'd it come from?"

Startled by the sudden voice that piped up, Silas jumped a little in his seated position, blinking rapidly until he honed in on the other freshling who was headed his way! A bird...? When he felt the weight suddenly lift off, and the presence of the other boy crowding against him, Silas tightened up further into a ball and buried his face against the plush. What was going on..?!
He kept very still even after the fuss seemed to cease. But as he heard the flapping of the avians wings, paired with the sorrow in the other boys voice, he did manage to just barely peek out from the safety of his plush. With the distressed question, he did shrink back down a little into his protection, but gave the most subtle of nods in response, warily watching the Geist.
Well, at least Histeol had calmed Perigor, it seemed. He was about to speak up again, but paused when he heard a familiar, albeit muffled, voice. He turned to look back over his shoulder and spotted Parodia making her way over. Honestly just looking at her made him feel hot... How could she stand all of those layers?! It wasn't even that cold... Perhaps Baphomets were just extra sensitive to temperatures or something. "Hello Parodia. We hev just come together, you deed not miss anything." He nodded, then looked back to Ustule, since Perigor had done the introductions. "Ah, I see... Perheps next yeear will be more... accurate." He shrugged just slightly and then squinted a little at the.. chicken? Parrot? Whatever the creature was that was attacking Ustule. Honestly. Did Southerners not keep their familiars properly penned?
Of course Perigor wanted it- it seemed like his sort of thing... He eyed him as the bird practically mauled his sweater and sighed. "Perheps it does... You weell need some petches for thet..." He shook his head slightly, and then turned his gaze to Teo - it was polite to look at who was speaking even if they couldn't see him, after all. "Is it? I suppose so, but we are not all orphens, Histeol. Efter all, you end I hev parents." He nodded, then froze up as a passing kid from an older group stuffed a pair of antlers on his head.
How. Rude. Hesitantly he reached up to touch them, and then sighed and just decided to adjust them to fit better with his hat. "Perheps we should choose an ectivity? One we could all do?"

Well-- he'd barely had time to react to Chries putting a boa around his neck and calling him cute (he lit up like a lightshow at that, honestly Ganymede, so transparent!) before Foras had to come interrupt with Alioth. He didn't really have a reason to dislike the fallen- other than the fact that he was a flirt like Foras and hung around his roommate constantly. Well. By his definition, anyway. But they were boyfriends! That was normal.
"Th--thanks, you look nice, too." He managed to sputter that out before Foras ruined everything. HE SAID THE DATE WORD-- uh, the D word, yeah! He hadn't even asked Anchriesel if he wanted to date yet. Good going Foras-- wait. What? Chries liked it? He blinked, markings flashing in a typical pattern of confusion but intermittently interrupted with flashes of excitement-- this was good! Okay, maybe Foras hadn't ruined everything...
"Yes, that... That sound good." He nodded, sliding the red hybrid a warning stare. 'You better not ******** this up, Foras.' Oh if only he could actually SAY that. "Ah- okay- I'll be here." He eyed Anchriesel as he left, brows furrowed in confusion. Oh Nine. Oh Nine no. He stared in barely disguised horror as Anchriesel settled the giant plush next to him.... What was he going to do with two of these things??? He should... give the other one to him. Maybe... But the twinsies thing with Foras was kind of-- no. Bad.
"Oh, th-thanks! I love it, you're really spoiling me already, haha." He molded his face into a smile, quite unnatural compared to his usual expression, and patted the plush. "So, then, was there anything that caught your eyes..? I mean, as an activity." He tilted his head slightly.
He was just about to offer up a suggestion when a nearby faculty member literally threw a plushie in his face in an attempt to get rid of some of the overflow from Ava's ordering-- unfortunately for him, it was attached to some peanut brittle...... With a slight yelp, he barely managed to catch the two items before they fell to the ground. "What the fu--hell was that about." No. No cursing. Stop that.
"I swear to the nine I will feed you that bucket!" Nott threatened, holding up her book in warding and yelping as, in spite of this, the cold enchanted cotton bounced off her fingers as much as the cover of the book. "I told you not to throw that at me!"
((Rolling))
Someone, laughing, thrust an familiar looking bucket into her hands, and her smile turned into something narrow and wicked as, offering the bucket to his sister, she chucked an snowball at the offending Conan before breifly turning her attention, angrily, to a dart game. She'd previously had mixed luck with them, but this time....
This time she turned back around holding an enormous plush and a wicked smile.
Somehow Arya ended up with a bag of cookies as well before another freshling approached him. He looked over at her and her Fennekit and gave a smile. "Hi, I'm Arya. I like your Fennekit, have you named it yet?" He asked. He almost wished he had brought his Specterfox Nihlus with him since familiars were allowed but it was probably best he didn't.

Of course Nikora was going to show up to the party! She happily picked out a stocking and was given a book. She looked around for anyone to play some games with.
,
Shannon grinned as she picked out a stocking and ended up getting a book from a raffle. She started to walk around looking for her sister.
,
Michi wasn't planning on going to the party at first but after thinking about it, there would probably be more Nixies around. When they got there they managed to get both a stocking and a book before they started to mingle.

The chimera made a snort of amusement, "If the protagonist isn't exceptionally insipid and the romantic interest isn't an irredeemable cad, it's usually considered a decent read. I'd honestly thought it was a mystery thriller at first," she said. "Some nightmare being kidnapped and must use their wits along with whatever else they can find to get themselves to safety."
She stepped back to watch the hybrid throw a dart at the balloons, "Nice shot," she said. A beat before she remembered she had a bundle of candycanes with her and she held it out to him. "Want one?"

Oh drat, he'd come on too strong and his lisping had no effect on the other fallen, except maybe make them uncomfortable. The other freshling, however, seemed slightly more receptive to his attentions.
"You mean this?" He twirled a finger casually around the aforementioned streak, "'S always been like this. But it's not as cool as having wispy bits." He declared brightly as his golden wings fanned out behind him, briefly, before the fallen tucked them back out of other nightmares' way. "I'm Chawmstaw, awe you two on a date?"
Purple eyes widened at the possiblity, "Oh no! I'm not getting in youw way am I?"

Edel sheepishly walked through the festival entrance, gladly accepting a stocking that was given out to every attendee. Feeling the stocking with her hands, she could make out a familiar shape, a smile brightening up her face. As she walked away from the crowded entrance to someplace less busy, she finally reached her hand into the stocking and pulled out… a book! Just as she thought! And it was a good book too! She remembered checking it out at the library before. Some of the writing confused her, but she enjoyed the whimsical and strange imagery that the writing illustrated, along with the illustrations themselves. She was glad to have a personal copy of her own.
She slipped the book back into the stocking for safekeeping, looking out at the festival grounds to see what to do next. Her eyes lit up as she laid eyes on what looked to be a petting-zoo type booth full of a variety of familiars. Curious to see what familiars were available, she hurried excitedly to the booth. So focused was she by the familiars right in front of her view though, that just as she got in front of the booth, she missed a peer freshling coming toward her out of the corner of her eye.
Rhiannon rummaged her hand into her free stocking, trying to discover what little surprise she had inside. But no matter how much searching she tried, the stocking felt almost completely empty. Was this some kind of mistake? Turning it upside down and shaking it a bit, she heard something land with a small thud in the snow. She leaned down for a look, and glinting back at her was a small bracelet.
Rhiannon picked up the bracelet and immediately put it on her wrist. It was a small prize, not that it bothered Rhian much. At least it matched her outfit. She continued to blindly walk about the festival, her arm raised up to admire her bracelet as it continued to reflect the menagerie of lights that lit up the festival. As she walked by a familiar-related booth, she found herself blindsided by a passing freshling. “Oof!”
Despite her earlier nerves, Kyleigh was beginning to have fun! She really enjoyed playing the games and had picked up another giant plushie as well as a festive bracelet that she immediately wrapped on her wrist.

Bibi hummed to herself as she flounced around the booths. On what was possibly her third rotation (who could tell, she was all over the place anyway), she spotted a geist who looked like he might be lost. Skipping up to him, she smiled brightly and waved. "Hi! I'm Bibiana but you can call me Bibi if you wanna. You want a candy cane?" she asked and offered up one of the pink sticks to the darker colored geist. She had noticed his third eye, but she thought it was pretty interesting! And she thought it might be rude to ask. Well, right away anyway. Just then, she noticed the vespercat plushie that the other was holding onto. "Hey! I just won the same one! Pretty cool, huh?" she commented happily as she held up her plushie.

This place was kind of cool, she thought. At least she was getting good ideas for her sketchbook. Which she had left in her dorm, ugh! She couldn't believe she left it behind. Usually the thing never left her pocket, but she had dumped everything out to clean her pockets out and had walked right out the door without it. Sigh. Oh, well. She had a good memory when it came to fashion~ These bracelets were pretty cool, too. Maybe she could make a dress to go with this one...

Aellys was still unsure about this place. But he supposed it was a good break. He was out of his dorm and getting some exercise which was good. He guessed. His fingers itched to get back to his book though. He spotted a game that looked like it might be fun, so he gave it a try and ended up winning a plush. Kinda cute. He had somehow acquired a pair of reindeer antlers, but he thought they looked better on the plushie than himself.
After letting the girl giggle noiselessly about his new headgear for a good five minutes, Vüsala was more than ready for the festival to be done with. It didn't help that someone had noticed his daughter laughing and had given her a bucket of enchanted "snowballs." Now she was pelting him with the frigid balls whenever he quit paying attention. A long suffering sigh escaped him as he turned around to catch Kanda in the middle of throwing one.
Only to find that she wasn't right behind him as he had expected. Wary, he glanced around to see if she'd slipped around behind him while he wasn't paying attention. As he couldn't find her, he became a bit more concerned. "Kanda?" he called, voice rising a bit to be heard above the crowds.
The young grimm had been having quite a fun time, hitting her dad with snowballs and otherwise getting into all sorts of mischief. However, when Kanda saw a game booth that was giving out giant purple vespercat plushies as its prize, she knew she had to get it. So without even thinking about it, she ran right over and mimed that she wanted to play.
Around the time Vüsala started calling for her, she had her arms wrapped around the largest plush she had ever seen, with a smaller plush tucked under her chin for safekeeping. Her gait was unsteady but she managed to get back in range for her father to see her without falling over. Bursting with joy, she showed him the new toy, struggling to pull the little goat plush out from under her chin at the same time.
With a barely contained sigh of relief, Vüsala took both toys from her. "Don't run off without saying something next time, Kanda," he told her. "Where did you get the two plushies from?" he asked her, mildly curious. She explained that one was for him, and that she'd won them at a beanbag tossing booth. The first part of her explanation surprised him almost as much as the second. For her though, he nodded and held out a candy cane from the bundle that someone had gifted him just before she popped back up.

The next booth the nixie stopped at was one of the game booths. It was simple enough to do, just hit a couple balloons with the dart and you won a prize. Isabelle waited for the couple ahead of her to finish up before stepping up herself. Her first shot went wide off the mark, but managed to hit a balloon. The second throw had her dart hitting empty space and so did the third. One balloon wasn't enough to net her a grand prize, but it did net her a consolation one. A bundle of green candy-canes joined the book in her stocking as she pulled out a water bottle.
Taking a couple healthy swallows, Isabelle was grateful to the salve she wore for helping to keep her from drying out too fast. A cursory glance around revealed a ton of nightmares enjoying the party. Maybe the daydreams were set to come in later, so everyone didn't mob them at once? Or maybe they liked to be fashionably late for parties? Whatever the case, she was looking forward to seeing some of the newcomers.
He couldn't just leave now, could he? A quick glance back showed him that several other 'lost' nightmares had gotten the same treatment he had. It hadn't taken them long to get into the spirit of things and delve into the crowd to disappear. Cyril sighed and turned to face the festival at large when the other geist popped into view. Flashing a startled pattern, he managed to keep from going transparent, though his eyes did widen. "Oh! Ah, I'm Cyril," he said softly.
The offer to share her treats came as a bit of a surprise to him, and while his mind immediately came up with a half dozen reasons not to take one, he gave Bibiana a shy smile and reached out to accept the treat. The tone of the question conveyed his confusion well enough.
