As Callum made his way closer to her and ended up at the base of her hiding place she grinned at him. "Yea, well.. Didn't have scissors and I don't have muscles like you and Isolder." Ming chuckled a little then shifted back so that he wouldn't see all that much of her. "I won't shoot you, Cal." The blonde didn't want him to see the bruising that was still present on her body. Wouldn't do to have him be worried when things were about to get dangerous.
And then it happened. The danger had arrived. Ming shifted as she watched the Alkidikes and made sure to zero in her aim on the leading extremists. There was no way that she was going to let them take over her home.

Time skipping so Talin can actually be BEHIND them for ambushes!!! Next post I do will be Talin's reaction to the Alkidikes arrival.

Talin is headed out. He'd flirt too but he's more in the killing mood right now.
Talin post 10
Talin rolled his eyes and walked away. kids and their flirting! He didn't mind flirting.. but there was a time and place. Right before battle was not the place. After sure.. but before? Before you focused on the coming kills!
he gave the kid an evil eye. "That's the whole point of fighting with daggers boy. Throw from afar or get in close and kill before they get you. Since they have reach and you won't." Kid was as green as his pants! "Try to keep close and learn something.
He headed out to where a small group of like minded individuals were already waiting. "Let's head out...we won't have much time to get into place.. not when the Bugs are so close."
They headed off in a round about path, taking the longer slower route to reach their ambush site and settled in. Talin did a walk around, made sure they were all hidden well and then picked out his spot, a bit further forward and hidden in the tall grasses rather than trees this time. Alkidikes knew trees.. they were less familiar with the grasslands so he figured he had a better chance at getting in close for a few kills this way.

Sanele Post 7
Sanele separated from the main group when they were welcomed by the strange looking female. All pale tans and pinks.... not what she was used to at all! Dark browns, blues, and blacks were what she was used to.. but ti's not that bad. The whole some alkidikes may be on our side, was not a very encouraging idea either! She sighed and patted Simba's long neck. He had enjoyed the ride up the cliffs.. she had not. Other than to see the Yaotls of course... Heights of that magnitude, she had found, were not for her. All alone in a strange land.. well not alone per say.. but lonely! She looked around; she was not really attached to the oban units so she wasn't sure if she should join in or ot... That one group she'd been traveling with had seemed nice enough, but Sanele was a long way from home and wanted a friend.. some one she already knew to make her feel less nervous. She brightened when she spotted a familiar face; Nuri! Just the person to go tease and forget the prebattle nerves on top of her homesickness.
"Hey look.. noble boy is now a soldier boy!" She drawled in an amused tone as she and Simba snuck up behind a familiar face and Simba butted Nuri's back gently.
She felt her stomach tighen, feeling a little sick, as the Alkidkes came forward. "Jonal's a**.. that's a lot of tall people."

Vollerei post 9
Vollerei gave her report.. nothing and walked away with Freya's word. She hadn't wanted to stay anyways; too much chance for angry earthlings to take it out on the nearest Alkidike after all! But it still rankled to be treated like that.
Instead she went to camp near the other alkidikes, in a tree where Zweil was crashed out and sleeping of his exhaustion. She buried her hands in her face as not long after the Alkidies made their appearance. Damn.. you'd think we'd have more time... I guess the Shifters did not manage to talk them out of it... But the lack of wounds on the Alkidikes she saw gave her a small hope; that meant they hadn't stopped to raid on their way here.
She grabbed her spear and strode forward,
"Why must you continue like this? Insulting an looking down upon these people?" She called back at the arrogant demand of the Matron. "There's still a chance you can leave and nothing bad happens... You start a war though and there's no going back." She couldn't see a way to stop it though.. it hadn't worked earlier so why would it work now? Her people were warriors; they did not back down from the field of combat!

"Guess the front lines." He said with a sigh, "Though stay close to me. I'll be by Eino at all times so look for him if we get separated." He stopped as calls went out; the alkidikes were here!
And announcing themselves too.. Guess we should be thankful they aren't just... charging. He thought with a sigh as he straightened up and started too move out of the camp to join the gathering army;
"My guess is that they are attacking in one massive group." He said wryly answer her now moot point, "So at least we know where most of them are. Are you ready for this Lasarra? If not we can stay back and guard the camps and healers."

Issaly Post 5
While traveling with the group. Issaly found a few shifter friends who brought him his familiars. One muttering that Ullyee wouldn't stay still while the two males were just trouble. After thanking his friends for taking care of the trio Issaly turned to scold the two males. Saalin and Abysio. The Snaptrotter and Janarim easily topped the small shifter, but one wouldn't be able to tell with how both instantly went on their bellies as Ullyee glared at them. Issaly sighed. "Look you two. We're here to help. Not hinder. If you don't think you'll be of any help then uhm...don't bite anyone okay?"
He would of suggested they go off on their own, but seeing as both were new to the area that wasn't a good idea. Knowing Saalin he'd get lost. That would be a task Issaly wasn't up to undertaking. Abysio rose up to nudge the small shifter. Issaly absently petting the large creatures maw before he watched the others. He wanted to help, but how...OH! He took out his small journal. Full of medical herb notes. He looked around the area. There was barely anything around here he could see. Turning to Abysio he smiled. "Abysio. Help me find plants. Remember those scents?"
The Janarim nudge Issaly before darting off. The small shifter taking off after him as the other two followed suit. Feeling a tad winded the small shifter stopped for a breath. Straightening he whined. "Abysio...Saalin...your going to fast. Great. I HAVE TWO LEGS YOU OVERGROWN PAIR OF SPITFROGS!!!! SLOW DOWN!!!"
As Issaly stopped Therus came flying behind him. Smacking into the shifters head sending him sprawling on the ground. Sliding to a stop he blinked up at the sight of a small group of....
Obans.
Uh oh. He sprang to his feet bowing as he said with a blush. "I'm sorry! I was...uh...chasing my familiars....excuse me. Ullyee go make sure Dumb and Dumber don't get lost. Come right back!" He watched the Xanteer take off like the sneak she was. Sighing he looked back and smiled. "Had to make sure they were coming back. I'm looking for medical herbs to gather for the healers."
Isaris Post 5
The older male was indeed caught off guard. The kiss was warm, sparking something in him. This...this was wrong right? Vallen was WAY younger than him. He felt himself lose a little as he saw the earnest honesty in the younger male's eyes. Before he could reply he heard the voices. Knowing that the war was coming he grabbed Vallen's hand. "You want to stay near me...come with me to this battle."
His mind never once thought of his little brother. He knew that Vallen would be able to get back to his Father if need be. Issaly was surely safe with the other male. He was doing this as a test for Vallen. If the youth was serious...he would give him something to remember. A more..darker half of his mind chuckled as it thought of what it could do to Vallen on the battlefield. Isaris pushed that aside in favor of making the trip. Once to the blockade he looked to Vallen. "What now?"
Myr Post 4
She was here. She was warm. She was...hiding behind Ai'ian like nobody's business. Holy crap this was a lot of people. She looked around her two companions. "So...ah...what now?"
“Welcome,” she couldn’t help but return the smile; there was a feeling of safety around Niadra, something the hybrid had believed was long gone from her world. She had seen some of the glares she had shot the rude people, but she didn’t know how to bring it up to properly thank her. For now, she settled herself to helping when asked and watching the people. It was almost relaxing at this point, it was nice to get used to it at the very least. “Yes, it just seems like the people are never ending,” it just seemed like streams of people, even with Enki taking his band of warriors. It was a strange serenity in the chaos.
“It’s something I could get used to, though preferably without the threat of war," she said with a laugh. Maybe this was the glimpse of travel that she needed, albeit the looming danger wasn’t the best of atmosphere.

Jawaad Post 7
Though she wasn’t quite sure of the crowd… it seemed like Jawaad was handling it better than her companions. “It’s not too bad,” she was joking, hoping to calm Ai’ian but she was quite curious as to what would be the best course of action. She wasn’t one to really stretch her wings too often, and this was her first time out of Zena. If she was truly honest, the weather bothered her more than the endless mulling of people.
“Well, maybe we should make our way out of this mess. Neither of you look like you’re faring these waters well.” They both looked ill… and she would too if they did get sick. “Then we can see if there’s anywhere we’re needed?”

Rishima Post 9
Voices calling out and the rise in tension in the air drew Rishima's full attention, telling him instantly that the time for chatting with Gerraden had passed. He wanted nothing more then just a few more moments with the younger man but it would appear as though time were up. Pushing himself up to his feet he brushed himself off, making sure that he felt completely in order, and swallowed down the nerves that were causing it to feel as though he had a swarm of nodwa fluttering around in his stomach. Sweeping up his spear he leaned on it for a moment, closing his eyes as he listened to the voices that were currently calling out to them, that of the Matron, who seemed as though she were leading the group of extremists. It was something that caused his mismatched eyes to slid open slowly, a confused look on his face.
"Wait, I thought Aselia was leading the extremists?" He found himself questioning partly himself and partly those nearest to him. All of the rumors had pointed to Aselia being the leader of the extremists and the one that wanted Sauti for the firebirds that lived there. Now he found himself questioning the information that he'd been given. Dragging in a deep breath he glanced toward Gerraden, "Seems as though it is time, Gerraden." He said, stepping closer to him so that he could give him a quick kiss. Just in case something went awry he wanted at least one last kiss he thought to himself he turned on his heel, starting toward the front lines where everyone was gathering.
The desire for blood was heavy in the air, something that made his antennae twitch and his stomach roll a bit. This wasn't want he wanted, he didn't want a fight, he wanted a chance to stop all of this. The problem being the Matron, she one who held a great amount of power and respect amongst the Alkdike. Having her calling people 'vermin' and acting as though the extremists were going to make everyone move if they didn't move on their own wasn't helping matters any. It was only going to rile up both sides that much more. Insulting the Earthlings and their allies, giving the extremists that much more encouragement when it came to their short sighted goal. Blood was going to be shed if people continued to poke and prod one another like this. It was just going to blind people to anything else but a brutal battle, something he was certain of because those who put up the blockade weren't going to move so easily and the extremists weren't just going to walk away.
Coming to the front of the group he had to take another breath to keep his nerve steady before he let his eyes scan across the group before him. Ah ha, there she was. So Aselia was here? The Matron was calling out for the 'vermin' to move but what was she doing? His antennae gave a twitch before his attention went to Aselia once more and he called out to her, "Mystic Aselia, it's been a while. I think that perhaps we should talk."

Shalvesta: Post 6 Slowly, Shalvesta calmed. Ironically, it was the growing realization that the Alkidike force had finally arrived that quelled her panic attack - fighting was its own beast, she had come to realize, and she would much rather fight a hoard than fall into the cyclic motions of self doubt and anxiety. Schooling her expression as best she could, Shalvesta finally turned and headed towards the growing mass of people, assembling to face off against the Alkidike. Those who weren't able to fight were shoved to the back, towards the healing tents.
On her way, Shalvesta's eyes turned over the group of people assembling - zeroing in on a leaf man, not for any reason other than he looked as socially withdrawn as she was, and was roughly her age. She walked close, but stopped a few paces away, eyes turned towards the growing crowd - the calls of the Alkidike extremists only dully audible, through the whispers of outrage. "I don't think it'll be long before they attack. Are you ready for it?" She asked, her voice quivering slightly in either excitement or nervousness - probably both. Shal wasn't stupid - she knew war wasn't a game, but being excited was better than terrified, so she urged herself towards that emotion instead.

Cerith: Post 7 Gods, giving Jelanii little heart attacks gave her LIFE. Cerith's lips drew into a lazy smile as she followed, raising her eyebrows when he spoke. Oh ho - given how giddy he looked, just looking at Illian, she felt the question was directed towards the wrong twin! She hummed thoughtfully, however, her eyes turning to look at the new brother - though it wasn't the one she was meant to watch, clearly - he had said the same name she remembered Illian mentioning earlier.
And if this wasn't enough of a cluster, Mynshaka came swaggering up just moments later ... on the snaptrotter- stealing her own words right from her tongue, and earning a pleased, almost proud glance. Although the proud look was tempered quite a bit by unease at the size of the snaptrotter - it had certainly grown since she'd last seen it!
"I couldn't have said it better myself, Shaka." Cerith drawled, settling a fine, painted nail against her lips as she turned to look once again at the brothers. They both seemed utterly confused... and it made her wonder. "Are you sure you didn't forget this brother of yours in Oba? Honestly, it may be the best place for him to stay, if we fail here." Cerith's tone was softer than normal, sincere for once and almost placating. If he had needed guarding, perhaps it was best he was hidden behind miles of Oban territory. Oba wasn't a great place to be, but it was no doubt safer than a Shifter at the hands of an Alkidike, up here. She tilted her head, then, eyes lingering on Istanell for a moment longer. "I'm Cerith, by the way. Charmed."
Then there was the snaptrotter and Mynshaka. He seemed rather intent on staying close by - but she couldn't blame him, really. It was a relief to see another familiar face, and even if the creature unnerved her, it was nice to see it was on their side in this. "He remembers me? ...I'm not sure if that's a good thing." She hunched her shoulders and shot Mynshaka a playful, but also clearly nervous smile, eyeing the creature's massive maw suspiciously.

Elsheba: Post 7 Ilyra's soft words of support helped - even if only a little. Elsheba released a pent up sigh and nodded. The small group continued on - and once they were in sight of the camp, Elsheba broke away from them, instead rushing up to the front, peering over the shorter earthlings, hoping to spot a flash of blue skin from her son, or Samoset. Instead - she was turned aside. She, along with plenty who had traveled all this way, were told the same thing - if you want to help, fight in the front lines. But you can't come into our camp. "Please, my son might be in there." Elsheba shot back, eyes narrowed in challenge, but it was the wrong way to go - perhaps pleading would have been better?
And yet, even if Elsheba had come out here to lend her aid, she still was Alkidike - and she still had never left Andile behind. The land was foreign to her - and she had never seen so many earthlings in one place before. Being turned aside infuriated her - but also reignited that panic. Slowly, she drew away from the camp, and instead turned to look back the way she came. At the very least, Elsheba had some time to sit and rest from the groups' frenzied trip - before the mass of extremists finally broke free from the Tale forest, settling across the empty Sauti landscape. The matron was at the fore - calling for them to step aside.
It was her last chance - the last chance to toss aside her bow and beg forgiveness. Sam and Nim were half alkidike - surely she could keep them safe, through her loyalty?
That or they were behind those lines. And if Elsheba became one of the Alkidike forcing their way into Sauti, knowing her child and lover were on the opposite side of the field, she would throw herself onto an enemy blade, willingly. So she shook her head, and slowly drew a fist full of arrows, holding them loosely in the circle of her hand - her bow held, at the ready but slack-stringed in the opposite hand.
Nimueh: Post 5 Nimueh looked around, annoyed that his father hadn't answered - but only then did he realize that he had already strayed away, and that his father was nowhere to be seen. A weight settled on his belly, heavy with dread, but Nimueh swallowed hard and continued through the crowd. Some stared at him, seeing his eyes, and knowing he was alkidike - but for the most part, unless someone looked at him closely, his blue skin and hair appeared more Ice in nature, and he wasn't given a closer glance.
Peering through the crowd, Nim hoped to see a familiar face- but there weren't any Alkidike here that he could easily recognize as Alkidike.
It wasn't until he spotted blue skin - the same, foreign color of his own skin - that Nimueh found someone to run to. He had no idea what an ice earthling was, really, but if they were similar to him, maybe they would help? Pattering up to a lady, Nimueh tugged at the hem of her dress, frowning fiercely. The first question on his young mind was 'what are you!' but whatever awareness the child had told him now wasn't the time. Instead, he stood and stared up at the woman with a gaze that, in child logic, said 'You! I have chosen you! It is your job to be responsible for me!' Even if it was FAR from the truth.

Kayin thought for a moment. "I honestly don't have the first knowledge about fighting so I'd be better off helping out the healers," she said in a defeated tone, looking back at Alek. "I'd probably just get myself killed trying to actually fight, though if the fighting somehow gets to the healers locations I'll do what I can to keep the injured safe"
Less glorious, yes, but she could wrap wounds with enough instruction. Learning to wield a weapon properly usually took more practice

Uquin: Post 2 Uquin would have most likely continued preparations until the tent was raided without even realizing something was amiss - until, of course, a prentice ran into the tent and brought news that the Alkidike forces had arrived. Uquin snapped his gaze up from his work, shocked that they had gotten here so quickly - very little had been prepared, at least from his own stock - he couldn't speak on any other healer's preperations. Inhaling sharply, he straightened his stance and moved to the mouth of the tent, peering outside - watching the crowd thicken. He also didn't miss the younger children, and those unable to fight, being shepherded to the tents to work - it was good to have extra hands, but also more responsibility. Not only for the wounded, but also the civilians. Until soldiers specifically meant to defend the tents stepped forward, Uquin would need to take that responsibility.
Very few people had their weapons out and prepared. Uquin himself wasn't certain if he would be more useful here, healing those who were brought in, or out there fighting.
For now, he eyed Padma, where she stood chatting with the prentice who had came earlier. "When you're done, prepare poultices and coagulants." His tone was harsh, almost cold - but he didn't think on it. Instead, he shot more orders to other orderlies in the tent, then strode from it, pulling his beads from his sleeve and rubbing his fingers against them, willing magic to fill them - they would help him in the battle to come. He didn't intend on straying far from the tent, but he needed to be alert and prepared to defend the healing tents, if need be.
Padma: Post 2 At least the girl wasn't too put off by Uquin's rough treatment! Padma quirked a smile, untying more satchels from Ishtu, who made a soft braying sound as if in thanks, skin rippling under her fingers as she pet his sweat-soaked hide. Patting him, Padma looked at the other girl, humming in quiet thought. "Me? A healer-- oh, no, no." She cracked a smile, laughing. "I just help my dad here and there. He'll be thankful for the extra hands--"
And then he came out and snapped at them. Padma threw her hands in the air and made a sound of quiet aggravation, but shook her head and quickly undid the rest of the bags. Her father wasn't normally so curt with her, and Padma took it as a sign.
"I don't blame you if you want to try another healer's tent." Padma whispered, casting her eyes at Uquin. Padma would appreciate the help, but she didn't think an inexperienced set of hands would do well under his... more sharp brand of teaching.

Cyn Post # 6
Cyn had followed his leader when he came around looking for those who could fight. Now he stood around, not sure of what to do. His bow was held firmly in his hand, and his quiver full. A voice rang out from the unknown and Cyn froze up, suddenly things were here. The urge to draw his bow and nock an arrow was strong. Cyn's body was tense, and his mind raced but he was brought back to reality by a voice. Cyn turned his head slightly, trying to see who spoke to him without turning his attention away from where the other voices echoed. "I-I think so." He had shuddered like his sister for a moment, the nervousness getting to him. Cyn cleared his throat quickly and took a deep breath so that he could calm down. "I'm ready to do what I must, like my father did in the last war. What about you?" He had noticed the quiver in the woman's voice. "Though if peace talks can still be accomplished I'd prefer that." Cyn wasn't opposed to the idea of taking a life, but if he could avoid it he would. To save his family and himself he will take a killing shot, but otherwise he would try to do non-lethal.

Had Serr known what Talin thought of him and Eziya, he would have had a lot more to say. As it was, he followed along gamely, ignoring the man's comment that suggested he would learn something by doing so. Maybe he would. Or maybe this stubborn jerk would learn from him instead.
The introduction of additional sneaky persons to their group of two was unwelcome, but Serr tolerated them, especially when they went their separate ways again to pepper the area the Wind thief indicated. He had to reluctantly admit it was a good spot for an ambush.

ouen was actually there all along. /facts.
Ouen | 7
It sure as hell wasn't the jungle.
Sauti was an odd place -- then again, every place he'd seen that wasn't Jauhar was decidedly odd. There was so much sky! Back home, you'd have to climb up to the highest branches just to get a glimpse of it, and here it... hung over your head for miles in every direction, so big and open he was almost concerned he might up and fall off the face of Tendaji if he didn't watch his step.
Talin and his tag-alongs had picked out a spot for their ambush, hidden behind a stand of tall grasses. The alkidikes were still out of sight, although there'd been news that they were coming. Ouen didn't bother worrying about it, settling down among the strange flora and sharpening the blade of his lance. Shenandoah sniffed the air and stayed alert.
"Hope they got food with 'em, or somethin'. 'm hungry an' I done an' ate all my supplies on the way over."
He had no sooner said that when a shout was heard from the direction of the camps.
