There were no monsters this time, but the keg ended up picking up a traveler in the form of a chicken. Huh, it must have escaped from some of the other apprentices. Without bothering to shoo it away, Joy continued to push it up in spite of the added weight.

She'd managed to reach the top with the keg intact and the chicken still roosting on it. It seemed like a cruel thing to do, tossing over a live animal but needs must when the devil drives. The keg and fowl went over and landed right on top of the bridge. From the corner of her eye, she saw how Percival seems impressed.
A grin started to spread across Joy's face but this was no time to rest on one's laurels! Quickly, Joy headed back down to keep at it.

The keg seemed to only be the beginning of Joy's attempt at contribution. She wasn't a particularly large woman, but she had developed muscles in her arms and callouses on her hands. Something told her she could try lugging the wagon barrel. Even with an injured arm.

The wagon made an ear-bleeding noise as she dragged it up the stairs. Maybe the god-awful racket offended the delicate hearing of monsters because she managed to avoid getting attacked. She gave a little pout at this until she heard the fluttering of wings.
Thinking a shadowy winged beast was making its presence known, Joy couldn't help but let out a bark of laughter when it turned out to be another chicken. "You might want to rethink your journey, feathery friend," was the only warning Joy would deign to give the animal.

When she dropped both wagon and chicken onto the bridge, Percival was elsewhere and not present to witness the lovely landing. Joy wouldn't deny the disappointment but she chided herself for seeking approval and praise when everyone else who'd followed after the Great Knight was simply doing their task.
With that in mind, the brunette headed back to see what else she could fetch. The throbbing of her wounded arm was getting harder to ignore but... Joy didn't think she wanted to ignore it. In fact, it was spurring her on.

When given the order Titus began to look around for something of use. Destroying stuff sounded right up his alley so he felt like this would be a piece of cake. Much more exciting than trying to bandage people up and yet not dangerous like throwing yourself at the feet of the enemy. It was a careful balance.
Moving a little further away Titus managed to find a wagon barrel. It was nice and heavy and would surely do the trick. The real problem, which he hadn't realized until now, was that the enemy wasn't just at the doors of the great hall. They were here swooping overhead and if he wasn't careful he would lose his item if not worse, his life. "Great..."

Titus did his best to stay quick on his feet but it was difficult with a heavy item in his arms. Really it would have been best to drop it and find something else but at this point it was about the principle of the matter. He was nearly back where he needed to be when a monster came swooping at him from over head. It nearly sent him and his item flying, just barely grasping it and cursing up a storm at the foul creatures as it took off again.

The wound in Joy's arm started to tingle, and counter-intuitively she raised her injured arm to block an incoming attack. If the pain had started to subside, it was certainly back in full force.
Joy bit back a laugh as she hurled the chicken at the monster. The fowl was a flurry of flapping and pecking while the woman went back down.

Now back at the bridge Titus hauled up the heavy wagon barrel and worried only briefly if he was going to be able to aim. Oh well, he had made it this far.
Putting as much force into the throw as he could he watched and heard the barrel hit the bridge with a loud clunk. Not too bad if he said so himself, the downside was it wasn't enough. He was going to have to do this all over again. "Merde..."

Joy felt like her arm was on fire and she was sweating from the effort of moving. It wasn't a good idea but she was desperate. She managed to find a keg of distilled spirits, take a quick glance around, and snuck a mouthful (or two). Now her throat was on fire but at least it was the good kind. Wiping her mouth with the back of her hand, Joy set about wasting good drink.
