Early evening, when the still present sun, low in the sky, cast the world in a dark, orange glow. Juniper was looking forward to what few hours remained before nightfall, mainly because it meant she could focus her attention on things beside her research; she loved her job, but she did have a life outside of it. With a yawn, she stood from her office chair and stretched herself out, just in time for her door to open and a voice to call out. ”Pr-professor?” There was a clearing of the throat, and Juniper turned around to face one of her newer aides. ”There’s a woman here to see you, a Reina Lupin?” he informed. She nodded, and gave her labcoat a quick brush before she swept out onto the main floor to greet the expected arrival. ”Hi there! Your secretary informed us you’d be coming by, but I figured it might be tomorrow,” she confessed, as her even stride brought her in front of the dark-haired woman, and her sleeping companion. ”But, I’m glad you stopped by! It’s nice to meet you in person, Ms. Lupin, I’m Professor Juniper.” She held her hand out for Reina to shake, and whether she did so or not, the professor continued on, ”Now, what can I help you with? Do you just need a Pokédex and supplies? Or were you looking to obtain a starter too?”

It wasn't long after the aide vanished that a woman returned in his place. The woman appeared just about the same age as Reina. The Egyptian watched the woman move her way gracefully before her, hand quickly reaching out to be shook in greeting. Reaching out her own free hand, Reina took the hand with a firm grip and shook it in return. When Reina heard Juniper was one of very few female professors heading a region she was eager to greet the woman, but truth be told before doing actual research the PI had thought she was much older that what she is. "Oui, Perhaps we should of just spent a night in Accumula, but well, I was kind of excited as were the rest of my partners." She admitted. Looking down to find Anubis asleep. A grin was met with a chuckle. Leaning forward she picked the sleeping Riolu up into her arms. Folding her jacket over her arm, she held the Riolu in that arm, as to keep the other free. "But yea, actually I've been thinking about it for awhile, and I actually think I'll take a Snivy if you have one available. We could also use those supplies you mentioned." She of course could of afforded to buy her own pokeballs and such, but apparently shop owners were reluctant to give such supplies to anyone without a trainer license. Apparently a badge wasn't a good enough license. Tant pis~

She was forced to use her pheromones to attract male Pokemon, which, given their size compared to females, were worth more money. Reina wasn't actually on a separate case She happened to stumble upon the illegal activity because of it, to which she freed Nefret along with several other Pokemon, Nefret grew attached to Anubis, Reina's partner because he was the first "male" Pokemon she'd encountered that seemed... immune to her 'perfume'. She's sly and has a sassy mouth, usually getting in fights with Anka often. She however has a soft spot for Anubis and will often adhere to him when he asks her to do something.

Reina, just promoted to an Inspector was on a case on a series of bank robberies when she came upon the Snorunt, apparently abandoned by the criminals upon during their heist. It was Anka who became detrimental to solving the case, of which she and Reina grew a bond, eventually the Snorunt found a dusk stone and evolved so she could be stronger. However, old habits die hard, and Anka will sometimes steal something, usually jewelry or petty change, but she's quick to confess to Reina and return what she stole.
Nepherti the female Milotic - lv. 1o - Hp: 1oo/1oo - Held Item: N/A Ability: Competitive - Boosts the Sp. She lived for a few weeks at a sanctuary, but ever since Reina rescued her she knew she was meant to be with her. Nepherti is kind and very protective of all things smaller than her, and by her size standards, she's bigger than nearly everything. She doesn't like people touching her tail however (The Hexagon designed part of her body) She also doesn't understand her own strength.

”It’s refreshing to see such excitement, in trainers and pokemon,” Juniper remarked, pleased as ever to know that she’d be opening the metaphorical door into the world of pokemon trainers for such an eager person. ”Snivy? Sure! I think we still have one or two still up, just give me a minute.” After excusing herself, the professor moved determinedly to retrieve Reina’s pokemon and items, and returned with both in a timely manner. ”Here you are, one grass pokemon! And, a few items to help start you on your way,” she introduced, and handed each and every one to Reina one at a time. Afterwards, Juniper smiled at the other woman, ”If that’s everything, I wish you the best of luck! And feel free to stop by again, if you’re in need of help, or just happen to be in town.” After all, she did like to see the progress of both her lab pokemon, and the trainers she gave them to.
Following Juniper as she left, then as she quickly returned. Reina accepted each and every item she gave her, along with the Pokemon whom she'd deemed Anak'su long before even deciding what Pokemon she wanted. The Snivy quickly grew comfortable up on her shoulder, allowing Reina to place the supplies offered by Juniper into her bag. "Thanks, June." Reina replied with a grin. "I'll remember that." She added. She may actually need it, given she'd skipped over Trainer school to pursue law. Still, she'd done research and the basic concept of it all seemed easy enough. With a quick wave, the Egyptian then took her leave. "Have a nice evening." She called just before exiting.
Once outside, and back at her motorcycle, Reina set Anubis down on the seat. The Snivy also climbed down and joined Anubis at his side. The tired Riolu barely even muttered a word before falling back asleep. "Sorry, Anak'su. Everyone's pretty tired. Why don't we just camp nearby and I'll introduce you to everyone in the morning?" The Snivy nodded, a smile spread from side to side. Grabbing either handles on her bike, Reina then proceeded to walk her bike into the woods nearby. Anak'su held onto Anubis to make sure he didn't fall off.

Bio/Personality - Breed and raised in the professor's lab, this anxious young Snivy has awaited the many days before it became the partner to a trainer. She has a very gun-ho attitude, and is very eager to meet new people and make friends. She is quiet the opposite of her brothers and sisters, who all share the simular trait of being smug, belittling everything. First impression of Reina is wavy. She likes her so far.
The train ride from Hoenn to Unova was long and … well, straight up boring. Of course, whenever in the history of the world had train rides been exciting? Except maybe when they were getting hijacked by outlaws wanting to rob the rich people.
Reese might’ve dared to re-enact such a stunt if it didn’t risk him getting his a** kicked off; which, for once in his day to day life, wasn’t something he was trying to have happen. It’d taken a lot of talking and bitching and… arguing to get this far; on a train to a different region by himself. He needed to at least get to the laboratory and get registered as a trainer, maybe snag himself a free pokemon too before he broke every promise he’d made that allowed him to get that far. It was only fair.
"Now arriving at Nuvema Town." The loudspeaker sounded, drawing the young man’s attention away from his art project on the food trays he’d opted to engage in to occupy his time for the hour-long ride. Finally. He clicked the cap back onto his marker, snapping it back into the case with the rest of them before chucking that back into his bag. He did the kind thing of course and flipped both the tables for the seats he’d occupied back up; it was a sad moment to conceal the massive piece of graffiti that he’d sprawled across them but well… someone was sure to notice and appreciate it.
Once he was long gone of course.
Slinging his bag over his shoulder, Reese stood and shoved his way past the few others on the train to the exit, not much caring to listen to the grumbles and under-the-breath chastising the act brought. Maybe if they would get out of his way they wouldn’t be getting shoved in the first place among other things. Once he’d hopped off the train he stalked his way through the small town, the thrill of being in a new place clearly not etched on his bored expression.
Small towns. They sucked. Sure there was a port and an airstrip here but not much else. Nothing to do and nowhere to go; why was a laboratory out in a place like this anyways? It didn’t make much sense. Oh well, no one was asking his opinion on what made sense and he wasn’t really giving it.
He found his way to the correct building in only a few minutes and really without hesitation, shoved the door opened and entered with little to no announcement. It seemed… slow, today, which caused a hint of agitation. Great, would he have to like wait or something? He strolled towards the back, taking his time to glance at all the technical swizzle whizzle going on, eventually coming to a stop at the incubated table with three pokeballs enclosed inside.
"Hello?" Reese called out in an un-enthused tone, giving a quick glance around before returning his attention the case. He pressed his hands against the glass and peered in. Honestly, he could probably bust the lock and just take a pokemon if they took to long. He’d heard enough rumors of break ins and robberies in the recent months and by the look of this place, they still weren’t entirely taking it seriously. Not his problem though.

Oh. That was an unfamiliar voice. Professor Juniper straightened up from her desk, having been combing over some reports and statistics, and curiously moved to peer out into the main lab. A welcoming smile spread across her face as she saw the young man, though it turned to a quizzical smile as she noticed him staring at the pokeballs, and took in his appearance. "Hello!" she greeted, spreading her arms out, before bringing them in to clasp her hands together before her, "May I help you with anything?"
Reese’s fingers halted in their drumming against the glass, his attention slowly shifting from the pokeballs underneath to the woman who had appeared to greet him. Well, so much for ‘earning’ his way into three new starters. Maybe he’d try again later.
"Yo," he remarked, turning to face her fully, hands shoving into the pockets of his jacket, eyeing the professor briefly. For some reason, he recalled thinking the professor was … what Rowan was it? Or Elm? Maybe he was mixing up his regions. Oh well, who cared?
"I’m here to start a… what the ******** is it… pokemon journey?" He finally answered, not at all seeming phased that such language really wasn’t suited for a place like this. He shrugged, jerking his head back towards the case containing the pokeballs nonchalantly. "You got like a Snivy right? I want that one." He’d thought through that much on the train ride over at least, though if he’d mixed up his regions the request would well… fail. Ah well, he’d get something either way.

Juniper smiled, head tilted slightly to the side as the young man greeted her. She tried studying his expression to get a read on him, but her eyebrows raised and her lips parted in surprised at the language he used. She wasn't... offended, per se? Maybe a little. This wasn't the sort of environment for that kind of talk, after all. But, he was obviously young, and looked like your average troubled teen. A pokemon journey may very well, in fact, help with that. She smiled again, understandingly, and moved over. "Of course," she replied, going to the machine, opening it, and grabbing the correct pokeball, before locking it back up again. "I'd be happy to help you with that. I'll just need to register you and get your pokedex..." It was a fairly quick process, and after a moment, she came back with a tray, holding a pokeball, pokedex, and several empty balls and full, simple potions for him to use to get started on his journey.

Reese watched Juniper, not missing the response to his less than savory use of language but not addressing it much further either. She didn’t look like she was going to kick him out over it; in fact, he got this distinct vibe that she’d encountered individuals like himself from time to time and that this was one of those ‘a trouble youth looking for purpose’ sideshows for her. Gross.
He just nodded absently as she complied with his request, noting the pokeball retrieval and her collecting other little free knickknacks and such as a sort of starter kit for him. Not that he really needed it and Reese had a few plans to get himself a little more … ‘cutting’ edge stuff, but free was free so for now, he wouldn’t complain.
"Cool," was his response and he waited (semi-patiently) as she put everything together for him to take on a tray. He stared at it a moment; really a tray? What? He shook it off though and promptly retrieved the good, slinging his bag around and tossing them in haphazardly before slinging it back into place. The last thing he retrieved was the pokeball for the Snivy, eyeing it before flicking and spinning it on the tip of his finger. Alright, that was his one promised deed done for … the rest of this time.
"There anything else or we done?" Reese flicked the ball up and snatched it out the air, giving the professor one last glance. Because saying ‘thank you’ was clearly beyond him in this moment. Once it was confirmed that there wasn’t anything else to do, he turned and waltzed his way right back towards the door, giving only one more glance at the container and a shadow that lingered under it before it moved to follow and both headed back outside.

"Excuse me sir, may I see your ticket?" Kenjiro yawned, the lanky man sat relaxed in his seat ignoring the question, a ball of orange fluff snoozing in his lap. He waved the uniformed man away, but he persisted. "Sir, I need to see your ticket." "Good grief." Kenjiro complained. "You guys have pestered me every single time one of you have passed through." Kenjiro slipped his hand into his right pocket and fumbled around in it. He froze for a second not finding his ticket, but he calmly reached into the other pocket with his other hand. Kenjiro spoke, attempting to buy a little bit of time. "It's bad enough that this trip is long, but do you guys really have to pester me every time I begin to drift into a peaceful nap?" A small wave of panic washed through him, as the ticket did not reveal itself in his second pocket. "Sir, I'm just doing my job. Your ticket please." Kenjiro let out a long sigh reaching into his coat pocket. "Still, I swear you guys are targeting me specifically." Kenjiro paused again, still not finding his ticket. "Do you really think, they'd let me on the train without a ticket in the first place?"
"Now arriving. Please be seated until the train comes to a complete stop." The Ticketmaster sighed. "Sir, you'll have to come with me if you don't have your ticket."
Kenjiro stood up and moved to follow the Ticketmaster, holding the groggy pokemon under his arm. "Lead the way." A smirk curled up Kenjiro's face when the Ticketmaster turned his back and he felt the momentum of the train's stop. "Sorry, I can't afford to be sent back, and I really did have my ticket." Kenjiro grabbed the Tickemaster by his collar, slipped his leg underneath him, knocking him off his balance before pushing him with the momentum of the stop. The Ticketmaster slammed into the ground, only to see Kenjiro dash over him and towards the exit. Urk. S-s-stop! Someone grab that hobo! Kenjiro turned for a moment to rebut, but instead bolted off.
Without a moment's hesitation, Kenjiro scampered into the nearest building."Geeze, that was really too close." He languished. "Masura, nap time's over." He poked the still groggy pokemon in his cheeks. Kenjiro's face scrunched up with irritation as he felt something in the Dedenne's cheeks. "Hey now.... that better not be our train ticket." Kenjiro held out his hand.
Masura yawned and squeaked pulling a crumpled paper from his cheeks, placing it in his master's hand. Kenjiro unfolded it, and to his annoyance read aloud its smudged words. "Adult Ticket. Kanto to Unova. Please present to Ticketmaster if requested." Kenjiro grabbed the pokemon by its cheeks and began to grind his knuckles into them."We were almost sent back! You remember how long it took us to get this thing? Pay more att-"
Kenjiro paused looking up at the small crowd of labcoats that were drawn from his nagging. He cleared his throat and turned to face them, speaking firm and clearly. "My name is Kenjiro Hashimoto, I'm here for the inter-" He again cleared his throat. "I mean we're here to start our pokemon journey. As you may have overheard this here is Masura." He bowed, grabbing the dedenne's head and forcing him to also bow. "Please take good care of us!"

Professor Juniper watched with some amusement as the stranger went through a little routine with his Dedenne. Quite an interesting couple, that much was certain. The professor came forward, ready to greet the gentleman as he introduced himself. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Hashimoto!" she said cheerfully. "I'm Professor Juniper, and welcome to my lab!" She offered a bow as well to the man, hoping to ease any unsettled feelings from his scolding on the little hamster-like Pokemon. "So, you're here to start your journey, Mr. Hashimoto? I have to say, more power to ya; it's never too late to start on an adventure!" As she talked, she started to gather together some necessities for a new trainer: some potions, some pokeballs, and most importantly, a Pokedex. She was prepared to hand them all over, but there was still the pressing matter of a pokemon. "Now, I can see you've gotten yourself a dedenne already, but feel free to take one of these lovely pokemon along with you. I have Oshawott, Snivy, and Tepig, all of which are wonderful pokemon!" Professor Juniper presented the pokeballs to Kenjiro, allowing them to rest on a table for further inspection.

The Dedenne pushed against Kenjiro's hands looking like his feelings had been hurt a little. He had done exactly as he was asked, he kept the ticket safe. It wasn't his fault Kenjiro dropped it, after he shown it to a uniformed man.
Kenjiro raised his head. "It's nice to meet you as well, professor." Kenjiro replied before a look of unease swept him. "So, I've never done something like this before. Does this mean that I work for you?" Kenjiro paused. "And what exactly is the goal of going a journey?"
Kenjiro walked over to the table and looked down at the pokeballs. "May I?" He asked as he was already calling out the pokemon to give them a once over. Kenjro took step back as the pokemon looked up at him. "Oshawott, Snivy, and Tepig, huh?" Kenjiro had never heard of these pokemon, but then again he didn't know the names many pokemon.
Kenjiro began pacing in front of the three mon, with his hand on his chin. "I have a few questions for the three of you, and answer honestly. Don't try and just telling me what I want to hear." Kenjiro turned to them and cleared his throat. "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" The trio looked up at him quizzically. "I see. What makes you the most qualified for this position?"
The Dedenne scurried over and pulled on Kenjiro's pant leg before climbing onto his shoulder and looking him in the eyes. "Of course, how silly me." Kenjiro nodded to Masura. " Old habit, I guess."

Professor Juniper couldn't help by smile at Kenjiro's questions. "Oh, no no no, Mr. Hashimoto, you don't work for me," she replied. "The purpose of coming to me is because I'm an expert on pokemon, and who better to get a new trainer acquainted with their journey? Now, as for the journey..." The professor tapped her chin as she thought of what the goal of a journey was. "Well, it's different for everyone, Mr. Hashimoto," Juniper replied. "A journey can be about anything, really. My journey was to learn whatever I could about pokemon. Others want to become league champion, and some just want a friend to keep them company. But I'm sure you'll find your stride while you start your journey!"
Feeling her explanation was satisfying, she quieted down to let Kenjiro choose his pokemon. It was a peculiar way to choose a new companion, that much was certain. But, Professor Juniper found it more amusing than problematic. "Looks like somebody's been on the corporate grind for far too long," she joked. "Here, let me help: with the younger new trainers, I usually tell them to look at their choices, and choose the one you'd be most excited to have by your side. And don't worry about leaving the other two behind; that just means I can spend more time with them!"

"Looks like somebody's been on the corporate grind for far too long." Kenjiro turned briefly towards the professor. "More time than you could even know." Masura patted the old man on his shoulder giving him some condolence.
Kenjiro and Masura peered down at the three, before Kenjiro took a knee to examine them properly. He looked first at the green ... pokemon with touches of yellow. Kenjiro wasn't sure if the pokemon was turning up its nose at him or if it was just a trait of the species. "Your appearance makes you seem a bit smug." The pokemon rolled its eyes and crossed its arms. "I don't mean anything by it, just you'll need to work hard against that bias." Kenjiro continued to examine it. Judging by the look of that tail, I'm guessing you're a grass type, though I guess green may have been a give away too." Kenjiro gave the mon a pat on the head before moving to the next one.
The small blue otter pokemon stood nervously shell in hand. "Take a breath. No need to be nervous." The otter exhaled. "If blue and a seashell is any indication of type, you are of the water variety... At least I think." The otter chirped nervously. " What's there to be nervous about? Hrm. I'm not that ... " Kenjiro shot his gaze to the electric mouse who averted his gaze by looking at the ceiling. "I want you to stop a moment and consider the possibilities." Osh? In this case the worst possible outcome is that you get to stay with this lovely young woman. Knowing that, nervousness slips away, huh?" He patted the otter and moved on.
The small red pig pokemon bounced anxiously for its turn. "Well look at you. I bet you'll evolve into something powerful. " The fire pig oinked with glee. Now, now. You'll have to be careful, if you grow powerful quickly, you may begin to underestimate your foes." It oinked curiously in response. "Other than that, you seem to have a great color and by default I assume you are the of fire type." Kenjiro paused a moment and smiled. "Which I must admit, fire is incredibly useful." He patted the pig and walked a few steps from the trio his back facing them.
"Masura, if you would." The Dedenne begin patting it cheeks like a tiny electric drum-roll. "I've made my decision!" Kenjiro spun and his heel and pointed with excitable energy. "They are all wonderful pokemon, and I must admit they each fill me with excitement of each of their potential. Kenjiro chuckled a bit. "I've seemed to forgotten how it feels to be this carefree and excited." Kenjiro coughed. "However! Rin, I mean the Oshawott in the middle, brings me the most excitement."
Kenjiro turned back to professor. "As long as that's okay." Kenjiro continued with his questions. " Is there any manual or equipment I might receive to help with my upcoming journey?"

Professor Juniper waited patiently while Kenjiro took a good look at the pokemon in front of him. It was nice to know that the same techniques that worked for the youngsters worked for adults, too, as after careful deliberation, the man chose to take an ohsawott with him, and it seemed he had already given it a nickname. "Wonderful choice! Make sure to take good care of oshawott!" She returned the other two pokemon, and prepared the rest of the supplies for Kenjiro. "As a matter of fact, Mr. Hashimoto, there is." Professor Juniper handed over the pokedex, and explained that it would help identify and give information on pokemon, and then the potions for healing and pokeballs to extend his team even further. "And as for a manual...well..." She glanced over at a brochure rack, and quickly swiped one up to give to Kenjiro. "Here! 'Basic Pokemon Care.' Now, that should do it! I hope you enjoy yourself on your journey, Mr. Hashimoto!"
