Better natural smog than man-made, though right? Or maybe they were on the same level… he wasn’t wise on that kind of thing and instead focused on trying to locate the egg. With all the soot around he had a feeling they’d be digging through ash piles to find the egg. There was a place he’d heard about that had them all over the place if he recalled. Lavaridge didn’t seem to be that place though; it was quiet and well-kept and looking at the signs, there was apparently a hot spring nearby for people to take advantage of. Noel perked up curiously at that; he’d never been to a hot spring before. He wondered what it was like.

Pulling out his pokedex, Noel decided to take a moment to research while they walked and looked, his pokemon on the alert for the eggs they were supposed to be hunting out. A quick search and he’d found some information on hot springs and their purposes. Natural pockets of water that where warmed by heat from underground; the situation with Lavaridge Town seemed to originate from it being so close to a volcano. Mt. Chimney; what a funny name for a volcano. Noel giggled a little at the thought; he wondered who was the lucky individual who got to name it like that. Shaking his head, he tucked his pokedex away again and sped up as Alanna gave a ‘pika’ in his direction, both her and Algernon quickly scuttling over to behind a tree to look. -

Noel caught up and peeked as well, eyebrows raising some at the sight. There were several eggs nestled together in the same spot, painted with smoky looking textures; more than likely to pay homage to the place where they were hiding. Which once more got Noel thinking; did the paint jobs correlate with where the eggs were hidden? It would’ve made sense and been a good way of tracking them when they were sent in. Though, they’d probably have trouble with some of those eggs; Oldale’s hadn’t been particularly well done. But… maybe the people running the event already knew that. Ah well, they’d found what they needed. Noel scooped up one of the eggs, leaving the rest for others to find and sent it off, gesturing to his pokemon and pulling out the riding pager once more. A couple more cities to go and then they were on to the next region it seemed.

Sweltering heat was the least of their problems as the two girls made their way up Lavaridge city. Elias and Garnet in particular weren't a fan of the heat, neither wer Freya and Cotee. Returning all four of them to their poke balls for some relaxation, the group headed into the Pokemon Center for a bit of AC before going on their egg hunt. Apparently today was a rather hot day, which was why it was so unbearable to even some of the locals. The near year-round summer islands of Hoenn were always hot, but being near an active volcano didn't help any. While the valley below was actually perfect for many, up here it wasn't as nice. "Hey, Avikna." Tay muttered. Avikna turned to see the teen looking at a small poster on the wall. It was an advertisement for the local gym. Come to think of it, this was the location of her next badge wasn't it? Tay turned with a wide smile. "You're always sitting around waiting for me to find the egg, why don't you go take on the gym here?" Avikna arched a brow at this notion. While it sounded like a decent idea, was it necessary? In the end there was nothing Avikna could do to convince Tay otherwise. With a heavy sigh, the red-head stood and began to adjust her team some. "Fine. I'll go. I suppose this would be a good chance to test Terra's strength." Plus, Zelda could use some more training along with Ookoth. Though the legend was going to be a last resort in this case, she couldn't be summoning him willy nilly. A gym battle just proved to be the best way of gaining some much needed experience. Once outside, Avikna called out Mave and Arietty as what was agreed upon. Leaving Tay alone was out of the question after all. The two fire-types stretched out their wings upon being released, finding comfort in the heat. Though the heat they provided wasn't entirely helping. The locals didn't seem to mind, even if they themselves were melting under the heat. Pokemon, specifically fire-types, were more than welcomed in this city, they were admired. Shiny fire-types was another subject all it's own. "Stay close to her, any suspicious people approach her, scorch'em first then ask questions. Got it?" Mave let out a chuckle. 'How suspicious we talkin'?' The wolf replied with a sarcastic tone. Avikna's gaze narrowed, to which the wolf chuckled once more. 'Calm down, Avikna. It's not like you're leaving on a journey. Knowing you you'll be in and out before the hour bell rings' Mave stated. "Still, a lot can happen in an hour." Avikna replied, pushing aside Mave's earlier snark. 'Don't worry. We'll protect her.' Mave quickly added. 'Now go seize yourself another badge.' Avikna crossed her arms, standing for a moment with a firm look between Tay, Mave and Arietty. She was putting a lot of faith in the two fire-types... she didn't want to lose Tay again. Mave was aware of these fears, knowing all to well what Avikna went through the last time she'd been kidnapped, but in the end, Avikna had to trust. Leaving Tay with her fire-types, the red-head finally made her way to the gym.

It wasn't long before the red-head found herself in the building, walking through a steam filled room, she eventually came to the main portion of the gym, finding a girl with wild orange-red hair standing in wait. "Gaaaah!" Flannery swept her fingers through her hair, giving her the appearance of frantic scratching, before she exhaled. It wasn't as if she was upset about losing, in fact she was rather content with the battle itself and its results, it was just... being a gym leader was tougher than she thought! Eventually the redhead could sport a smile and headed over to to Avikna. "I'm sorry about before... I'm still getting used to this whole gym leader thing," she explained sheepishly while handing over her badge and discs. "Congratulations though! You and your pokemon were great!" With a wave she saw her opponent out, and afterwards heading to the back room to heal her team.

As he came in to land, his gaze was drawn to the pokemon center connected to an open hotspring, a place he and Isis had visited once before as they journeyed together. It seems they'd erected a tall, wooden wall between the path leading into it and the spring itself, likely to split it up between men and women's baths. Though, it seems that the rule wasn't exactly enforced, as he could vaguely see that people of both sexes were still bathing in the same pool regardless, though it seemed they were all part of a group of some kind.

Taking in the sights wasn't his objective today though, so Zero put the matter of the hotsprings aside, and hopped off his Charizard to explore the town itself. He somewhat remembered a few other things he'd done in the town as well, beyond defeating the gym leader. If memory served, he'd gotten his cloak here, the heavy burlap having served him well when he's needed it. Though, time has certainly worn it more than he'd have expected. Perhaps he should look into buying a new one while he's here? It certainly wouldn't hurt.

Avikna let out a sigh at the dragon's reaction. After accepting her prizes, the red-head then left the gym with Terra in tow. Not long after, the due spotted Mave and Arietty nearby, Tay standing between them speaking to Arietty mostly. In her hand was another egg, which meant their search had been well. Mave was the first to notice Avikna's return, she'd been listening in on the red-head's thoughts during the entirety of the battle, so she knew actually when it had ended as well. Alerting Tay of Avikna's presence, the teen broke her conversation and ran up to Avikna with a wide grin, holding forward her egg. " I found another one!" She exclaimed. She then glanced to Terra, then back to Avikna. "Did you win?" Avikna nodded. She'd keep the fact that it was one-sided to herself. Giving a glare to Terra quickly, to make sure the Garchomp didn't spill the beans either. "Whoopie! I knew you'd win!" She chuckled. "Alright, alright. Let's move on now. Our next location is Rustboro." Avikna finally spoke, raising a hand some to emphasize her 'alright's' as a means to say calm down. Tay nodded, a wide grin still firmly displayed on her lips. Lavaridge was a nice, quaint little town. Scarlett could practically feel herself relax the moment she landed in the area, though maybe that was because just being in the town you could feel the warmth and steam of their famed hot springs. Scarlett wasn't going to miss the opportunity of taking a dip. Besides, it was possible that the egg here could have been hiding somewhere in the springs. Excited by the prospect, Scarlett entered the pokemon center and bought a pass to the hot springs from Nurse Joy, stepping into the changing room to get undressed and wrapped in a towel. Before long, Scarlett was sinking into the piping hot water with a content sigh, her towel resting on top of her bag for the time being. She could already feel the spring rejuvenating her skin and vitality, drawing out all the aches and pains of this long, stressful journey. She hadn't realized until now how much she'd needed this.
