Well, at least there was some "meat" in some of the answers in the June 28th ATS.
For the stuff they actually answer I appreciate that. But the "fluff / non-answers" (see below) make me want to facepalm.
I save time by 1. Skipping ATS and just reading the summaries here and - 2. Reading the answers first and if it isn't really an answer - not much need to read the question.
=============
It's certainly something we could possibly finish one day! But realistically not anytime soon at the moment.
This is something we definitely like the idea of and something we can consider!
This is a possibility
One day we will be able to put it into use!
It's something that is certainly possible to do!
You may one day! I'm not sure about the near future though.
Probably sooner than you think. c;
They may appear in the future! There is no telling. C:
This is actually something we've considered and may implement in the future!
This may happen sooner than you think.

David2074 Well, at least there was some "meat" in some of the answers in the June 28th ATS. For the stuff they actually answer I appreciate that. But the "fluff / non-answers" (see below) make me want to facepalm. For what it's worth...I always quote the first post in full, but other than that, if an answer is truly 100% non-answer I don't bother transcribing it. For example, there are always plenty of non-answers from excitable sloth where someone wants them to make a certain item, and her reply is some form of "I'd like that too!" This week in particular there were also lots of "Praise to the Project Ticket artists!" - "Thanks for the praise!" answers I didn't transcribe because it's long on community interaction but short on information. Here's why I felt the answers you quoted were worth transcribing: "It's certainly something we could possibly finish one day! But realistically not anytime soon at the moment." It might not be exactly a "no", but it is a "not anytime soon", and given what "soon" can mean around here, it's definitely a "don't hold your breath"."This is something we definitely like the idea of and something we can consider!" "This is a possibility" "One day we will be able to put it into use!" "It's something that is certainly possible to do!" Yeah, these fall under "I always quote the first post in full"...although that first one might be worth it anyway for the acknowledgement that they approve of the concept. One could make an argument that it's useful information to see what questions from the Pre-Event threads staff actually bother answering, I guess. Incidentally, if a reply in the first post is 100% non-answer, I don't bother adding it to the By Subject subforum."You may one day! I'm not sure about the near future though." It seems to me that "I'm not sure about" is a euphemism for "no". Assuming I'm right, that's useful, if unpleasant, information."Probably sooner than you think. c;" "Probably" is ignorable, but "sooner than you think" isn't. That typically means they're currently putting that exact thing together."They may appear in the future! There is no telling. C:" This one can go either way depending on context. In this case, the context is material from deceased Gaia games zOMG! and Heralds of Chaos reappearing in the form of things like new equip items, flash spaces or Kin, so I'd argue that "she didn't rule it out" is helpful information (in-thread, this reply was met with some mild hyperventilation from a HoC fan who certainly considered it a positive sign.) Your mileage may vary."This is actually something we've considered and may implement in the future!" If it were just "we may implement this in the future", I wouldn't have transcribed it. Since it's kind of an oddball request, though, the fact that they've formally considered it gives the fact that they're not ruling it out more weight.

I didn't realize you were already weeding out the worst of the "non-answers" so that just makes me want to facepalm (at staff) a little bit more. I realize there are t hings they either physically can't answer or are unwilling to answer due to a variety of reasons that equate to "our company plans things and doesn't have to tell you everything we are planning". But it often feels like they think everyone reading their posts is a young child who is easily distracted. Q: "Are you going to be shutting down the zOMG game?" A: "Well, we've been discussing... OH LOOK! A BUNNY!" (insert cute gif)

Thank you for your efforts as always.
It sounds like I missed a lot of drama with banned accounts and rare kins and so on. I'm good with that. smile

David2074 But it often feels like they think everyone reading their posts is a young child who is easily distracted. Q: "Are you going to be shutting down the zOMG game?" A: "Well, we've been discussing... OH LOOK! A BUNNY!" (insert cute gif) It's rather nice to see that I'm not the only one that has had that same thought. Thank you for saying it. Now, I know that it's not just my imagination.

Now, I know that it's not just my imagination. We are far from the only ones. I've seen many rants on this over the past couple of years that Gaia often avoids the hard questions and answers the fluff (eg what's your favorite cookie or movie or book?) Also that they have at times given out very conflicting information or not done what they said and later changed it. To be fair - I think it is better than it used to be. I hate to say it but Lanzer was the source of some of the conflicting or untrue stuff. Not sure if he just wanted to say what people wanted to hear, or if maybe he was sincere but other partners / fiscal realities / etc forced his hand. And partly I blame the users asking the fluff questions. In part I get it - get to know the staff as real people and such. But given there are often more questions than the staff has time to answer I fee like the fluff questions use up some of the limited time. My impression is the thrust of the questions being asked has changed too, largely due to changes in direction the past couple of years. It is mostly questions about stuff like tickets and can we have a recolor or (some item we want) question. It used to be much more about site features and new additions and so on. But I think folks asking those questions got beat down by all the answers along the line of "Don't have the staff for that right now" "That was written in old code and needs a total rewrite to change it - not happening anytime soon" "Our sponsor / partner for that game pulled out on us". This guild is why I bother to read ATS any more. At least I can skip most of the fluff, unanswered questions and so on. But I've become rather jaded and don't really care about the items or games here any more. Special items are no longer special because next week there will be 10 more. Every game I have gotten enthused about on Gaia from jigsaw to zOMG has been abandoned / closed / left in a state of ill repair. I kind of like Kindred but find it so repetitive it is kind of boring. And it is solo. At least in zOMG you could chat with people as you played even if you were playing a section you had played before. So mostly I hang out in the news forum and sometimes one or two other forums. The forums are rarely discussed in ATS and if they are it is usually about someone wanting a new forum, not something to do with news. I'm trying to be open minded but I fee like Gaia has largely lost its soul the past couple of years and has mainly turned into a money grab. I'm all for them making a profit but I feel like they sacrificed some things long term in exchange for short term gains. (*cough!*artificial inflation*cough!*)

(*cough!*artificial inflation*cough!*) I'm sure that you're correct about that. I think that's it's because I've seen so many of the "fluff" Q&A that I've wondered. This guild has been so helpful for me because I can go through it and make sure that someone has asked a question that I might want to ask. No fluff questions from me. I would just like some things improved. I do agree with you about the games though. I could fall asleep playing Lake Kindred and I do miss the comradery and all of various creatures of Zomg. Now, there's the inflation so I mostly just do my best to help as many people as possible since everything's so expensive.

Thank you for your continued efforts. I see your posts, but often not much to comment / discuss about them.
Kind of sad that I used to use your thread / guild to find the meaty bits i actually cared about - but these days I mostly do it to verify there are no meaty bits I actually care about.
Hope springs eternal. Maybe some day there will be something other than ticket items, cash shop items and "not at this time" answers.

I know they do, just not sure which ones I'd love to know that myself. I could put together a list of which ones used to, though it'd take time I don't have right now...but I know at least some have had the Tickets removed from them, and I have no idea which ones still have them, if indeed any do.
